Hi, I installed unofficial CyanogenMod 10 on my xperia j. Everything works fine excluding screen's backlight. When I lock and relock phone screen is darker then before. Then i must adjust screen brightness again but after next lock and relock I have same problem. I think it's problem with light sensor or something. I just tried disable light sensor by hw_config.sh in system/etc but there's no this file. Then i tried to disable auto screen brightness in setting but it's disabled and I can't click checkbox. Anyone have idea how to fix it?
Phone: Xperia J
Android: 4.1.2
Kernel: 3.0.8-FXP-g22c38de5
CyanogenMod: 10-20131224-UNOFFICIAL-jlo

There is next problem or maybe this is main problem. When i change brightness using slidebar in settings screen changing brightness randomly. For example when slidebar is on minimum value then brightness is maximum or slidebar is on middle screen is minimal. Just random values. I tried other apps to change brightness but same problem.

I'm using it but i can set the brightness to lowest value (1%), but when the pop up closes, brightness automatically jumps back to normal, how can i lock the brightness?
described exactly same as #5 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928745
I just flashed the final beta of CM7 to my triumph, and idk if everybody is having this problem my soft keys are flashing/flickering when i move the phone. It's not physically they are flickering because of the way the light reaches your eyes.
No way to explain it really, when you hold the phone still it's good.
I believe this is because the soft keys brightness is not high enough.
Anybody find a way to fix this,
Thankss in advance.//
I have he same thing, but not sure how to fix it.
It's a 'feature' to reduce the brightness on the softkey LEDs. By default they're turned on full brightness, and it can have light leaks that affect a dark screen on some people's phones. You can just turn it off with an app like 'adjbrightness', 'keyboard backlight control', or in CM settings - display - auto backlight - use custom & edit other levels.

If you could explain a little more of what to change on that screen it would be much appreciated. There are so many values to change that it is a bit overwhelming to me.
In the "Edit other levels", the left column is what the light sensor readings are for a certain light level, the next column is the display backlight that should be used in those situations, the right most column is what brightness the bottom capacitive buttons should be at. Set it to 0 to be off, 255 for max. Try some different values to see what suits you.
Awesome! Thank you!
Dear All,
I am using pristine XXLT5 v3.2 Slim Rom, I would be thankful if anybody can make Xposed framework module for auto brightness hack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235212) for this ROM.
its need kernel that supports lower/higher brightness values..
Engineering mode
I found throughout gravity box that in engineering mode i can manualy set the value of backlight from 0 to 63. i set it to smth like 3 or 4 that it's perfect for pitch black and it works fine until i lock my device. After powering the screen off/on the value resets to normal value. ( it's irelevant if i use auto brightness or not. The device it's a vodafone smart 3. How can i include lower values in auto or manual brightness?
Hello, I would like to change the actual brightness of the screen. That is, I would like to adjust the screen back-light dimmer when the device is in the minimum brightness mode. I am now adjusting the kernel of GT-N8000 but I have no idea that which file I need to adjust. :crying:
Is anyone can help me. :crying::crying::crying:
So i would like to use screen Auto brightness but it sets the screen too dark or some times keeps hunting for a level ...
Any place to adjust the sensitivity of the auto brightness itself?
Right now i just turn the auto brightness off and set the screen brightness level manually

Agreed, I do the same as you. I always found that these auto-brightness functions don't work worth a squat. I don't know who is in charge of designing the sensitivity settings for it but they really don't work that well. So I always leave it on manual brightness setting and set it to my liking.
