It all depends on you. However just keep it unlocked. There is no need to lock it unless you're selling your device or sending your device for repairs. Relocking it then again unlocking it would be a pain in the *** as your data will be wiped frequently and will just create more headaches for you.

Thanks

well to get root/custom recovery you either had to have made it s-off or you unlocked your bootloader. whats the problem? are you not able to get into hboot to check?

If you let me know your phone make and model i will be happy to show you how to check boot loader status.

No, it is not possible, every unlock will wipe the device.

Does rooting your phone void your warranty?

I want to root my honor 8 L04 but I was wondering if it will void my warranty.
Thanks,
Thinh
Yes it does and the current method for rooting is kinda sketchy at this time. I'm waiting untill the lineage ROM is done and hopefully by then we will have a better rooting method.

Yes you can relock the bootloader, however it will say relocked bootloader and not locked bootloader like it originally said so you can still see that the bootloader had been unlocked at some point.

To get the status "locked" back you have to downgrade to emui 4.1

I have one question, if I had unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted my phone, then unrooted it, reverted to stock recovery and relocked bootloader, can I still receive OTA updates?

Re-lock Bootloader Help

Hi,
I haven't done anything in the way of rooting or custom recovery or anything. I did unlock the bootloader first thing due to the wipe that occurs as part of the process.
How do I relock the bootloader? I did some research and all that I've found so far is people cautioning for past OP devices about the standard relock procedure so I just wanted to ask the question to make sure I don't break anything.
I am on Stock everything so can I just fastboot oem lock?

Yep, that should be it as long as you didn't root.

You do know that any time you unlock or relock your bootloader it will wipe your phone?

Yup that's why the first thing I did was unlock it. Now I am relocking it since I don't intend to keep it.
Thanks!

Maybe I'm confused but why did you unlock it in the first place if you were just going to relock it?
Edit: I think I follow now, you unlock the bootloader when you first got the phone and now you're not keeping the phone so you're relocking the bootloader?

I got the phone, unlocked it so I wouldn't have to wipe later, used it for a week, decided it's not for me, and am relocking it.

Few questions about relocking bootloader

I am considering relocking the bootloader for my HTC U12+. I unlocked it a long time ago (out of habit I guess). So my phone is completely running stock without any modifications. I want to relock the phone to get widewine back to L1, so I'll get Netflix updates and such.
A few questions about relocking that I couldn't find an answer to.
1. When I relock the bootloader will it do a factory reset to the phone? I'm asking because unlocking did.
2. If later on I decide to unlock the relocked bootloader again, do I have to get another unlock-code from HTC? Or is unlocking a relocked bootloader a simpler procedure?
So I decided to do the relocking. During the relocking procedure I was being told on the screen that the phone will be wiped if I continue. It remains to be seen how I'll unlock it later on if I want to.

2. You have to to go through the HTCDev website procedure (not sure if you can reuse the previous Unlock_code.bin file).
is it possible to get "locked bootloader" instead of "relocked bootloader" and get rid of system status modified?
