**UPDATED FEBRUARY 10th, 2019**
As an FYI to TMO users, this is the surest way to get your phone back up and running:

#18.) Reboot your phone. You should be good to go!
You my friend are awesome! If you know any thing about creating custom roms, I started the custom rom thread and could use some help. My old computer's down but I'm about to get a new one in the next couple of days, then I'm going to start seriously working on it. Testers and anyone with any know-how would be great. Once again thanks for the uploads I'll upload them to my Mega account and post links here for some redundancy.
The StockROM - G550T1-TUVU1APF1 (hosted on dropbox) says that it's still uploading.
Can you please check if the upload is still running and provide us with an estimated time for when it will finish?
I setup a dropbox just for this project but I think I'm gonna have to move everything over.
That being said, be advised that TUVU1APF1 DOES NOT have the Bootloader in it. You can't restore from this firmware without the bootloader.
The only place I've been able to find it is from a place called "GSM Forum" where the guy wants $250 to let you download it (and the rest of the firmware) :-\.
I created a recovery that works though. If you're in need of the TMO update, I'll get that linked quickly.

Thanks a lot
I locked myself on FRP lock by turning off the OEM Unlock (Wish I did extra research before turning it off again).
Everything was working fine before that; I successfully rooted my phone. I did a backup on TWRP though. Do you think that can help me have access to my phone again?
Can you please point me to what you recommend I do? is there something I can do if I have access to a stock version of the same model but still untouched?
If I can help you with this to have the stock rom online then I'll definitely do it for free. I don't want 250$ for this.
I have the T-mobile version of the on5.
Ok, to clarify what you're after, you're after the On5 TMO TWRP restore?
That being said, it sounds like how you're going to need to get around the FRP lock is to restore from the MetroPCS Firmware and THEN restore from the TMO TWRP Restore.
I'm shifting things around to my personal Dropbox so all the above links are now DEAD. I'll update them once everything is uploaded.

I have a TWRP backup on my phone already but I don't have access to the TWRP screen because of the FRP lock.
I will try to restore from the MetroPCS Firmware and THEN restore from the TMO TWRP Restore.
Is there something that I need to do (or uncheck) during this process to not ruin my baseband, EFS or something else I need to watch out for?
For using the firmaware update through ODIN, no, you don't.
For restoring using TWRP. The EFS partition is in the backup and you'll need to make sure to NOT restore that.
Your process should be something like this.
#1.) Use ODIN to push the firmware update: "StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (MetroPCS).zip" (make sure to restore the BL, AP, CP and CSC all in one go).
#2.) Reboot and let the MetroPCS Rom completely install.
#3.) Use ODIN to push the firmware update:"TWRP Recovery v3.0.2.0 (on5ltetmo).tar"
#4.) Download a Root Explore, such as ES Explore and backup your EFS folder. I did this by making a copy on SDCard and then connecting to my computer to pull it off.
#5.) Use TWRP to restore from "StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (TMO).zip"
Make sure to NOT restore the EFS partition!
These steps should get you back up from what I am understanding.
Its a bit mickey mouse way to do it. If we could get our hands on a BL_G550T1UVU1APF1.tar.md5, we'd make this process a bunch easier for people in the future.
Nice!

Hey men, can you give me the links?:good::good: the links of dropbox are down
I'll fix them when they're all uploaded to my personal dropbox.
That should be tonight / in the morning!
All the URLs are updated to the new location.
Hope that gets you guys back up and running.
Sorry about the delay. I got a lot flipping around my network right now causing this mini-project to take a bit longer then anticipated.

Can you please explain how to do this (quote)?
I downloaded this: StockROM - G550T1-TUVU1APF1 (TMO) from this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/y0o1dj3jgeophb4/StockROM - G550T1 - UVU1APF1 v6.0.1 (TMO).zip?dl=0
And these are the files inside of it:
AP_G550TUVU1APF1.tar.md5
CP_G550TUVU1APF1.tar.md5
on5ltetmo.pit
OPT_G550TUVU1APF1.tar.md5
I copied them through the usb cable to the TWRP folder but TWRP's Restore menu is not displaying anything.
Also, all the links in the "ADB Installers:" section are the same.
Thanks a lot for all your contributions.
That sounds like you downloaded the ODIN Firmware instead of the TWRP Restore.
I'm downloading it right now to check if that's the case.
Yep, I verified you downloaded the wrong thing.
What you downloaded is for ODIN, but we're missing the Bootloader from it and that file is useless for restore until we get that.
This is what you need:

YES! Thank you!
It's working again and baseband is fine.
Can you please answer these two questions?
How can I unlock my TMO in order to be able to use SIMs from other carriers? Is there any free method? (I am outside of the US at the moment so I can't use the TMO unlock app)
I understand that I need to keep OEM unlock ON. Do I need to keep USB debugging ON also?
EDIT: While roaming, on wifi, and through the TMO "Device Unlock" app, temporary unlock worked but permanent unlock didn't. So no need to answer question 1 anymore.
@ 1.) There is an unlock scheme for Galaxy S1-S3 and S4-S6 generations using Debug tools but it doesn't work for the S7 generation phones. You used to be able to use NV Tools to change ESF to baseline, but the current set of NV Tools doesn't work for this purpose either. Basically the community hasn't caught up. There are a bunch of services that will do it, but the minimum cost is $25. The one that looked best so far has been "Unlock Client", but I haven't personally tried them. I used their tool thinking it was free but ditched it when they wanted "1 Credit" (costing $25).
@ 2.) I dont actually think OEM needs to remain unlocked, but its one of those things there's no reason to change. It'll make life easier as roms start to come out for the phone. USB Debugging should be turned off as a security measure as it will allow people to more easily gain access to your phone if you lose it. If you're not concerned about it that or have other security measures in place, by all means keep it on. I have a security suite on my phone, for instance, so I'm not concerned about keeping it on.

I have followed your instructions to the word. The YGDP download program keeps getting stuck after pressing 'Apply' after selecting the CPB file and version.
Moreover, the drivers that you have given are ADB drivers. I have installed them prior to all this. But my s5+ still doesn't get detected after I connect it to my PC without the battery. It says the driver installation failed. I forgot what was the device name that was being shown.
Could you please help me out. I have accidentally deleted certain system applications and need to get them back. Thanks.
The problem seems to be about drivers, if your phone is not identified, it wont flash, as i have installed a lot of drivers, my devices was detected automatically,
also make sure opened the program with admin rights.
As I do not have the phone with me, I could not do a trouble shoot with you, try to go to device manager and update drivers manually from local folder.

thanks. will try that. But apart from that the flashing program has an issue as well. I'm running it on a 64 bit win 7 machine and I'm opening it with admin rights as well. also I need to open it in compatibility mode for windows XP. after hitting apply on the ROM selection screen it freezes. I guess that has nothing to do with the drivers as the phone isn't even connected yet.
any idea what's causing this?
Thanks for such an informative tutorial. I have this phone. From where can I download Custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod for it? Btw, are you getting poor camera quality by any chance?
Hats off sir

edit 4:
The MIUI ROM and the Sony Xperia v2 ROM work properly. For people who have boot issues, doing a full data wipe/factory reset through the recovery will solve that problem... MIUI is pre rooted, but chainfire's SuperSU app is not installed and there is no keyboard app. The Sony Xperia v2 ROM has SuperSU installed and works properly. However, a high amount of patience is needed to wait for the ROMs to boot up...
As mentioned by cybercrawler, the internal/external swap supposedly works, and appears to be already applied in these ROMs... so, if you are going to flash a new ROM, you had better undo this change...
The clockworkmod recovery file works too, as seen in the screenshots uploaded by cybercrawler... thanks to him for testing that out.
I shall be uploading some screenshots of these in a few days. Both the ROMs run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, and the MIUI ROM has a update scheduler app, so I'm guessing it can be updated to 4.4 Kitkat. Anyway... if anybody knows how to bypass Dropbox Error 509 ( This account's public links are generating too much traffic and are temporarily disabled ), please download the Xperia Z v1 ROM and upload it to Google Drive... I shall be uploading the MIUI v5 ROM to Google Drive within the next few weeks...

well, if you have any custom recovery images, you could do it through fastboot ( fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img )
else, if you have flashable recovery zip files, you could do it through adb sideload in recovery...
try twrp recovery... touch based recoveries are good for karbonn devices
take a backup of your current rom ( and recovery if possible ) first...
make sure that you know any karbonn service centre near you who can fix your phone if it gets bricked.
( i'm telling you so because when my karbonn titanium s5 plus bricked, it took a week and a half to get the phone serviced at the service centre. )
find some roms compatible with your device, and make sure you dont install new fonts or anything like that. rooting is okay...
try this link for karbonn roms
"goo .gl/ p0QK1m"
(remove the quotes and no spaces)
oh, and does anybody have an idea of creating a one-for-all rom that would work on any android device, be it tablet or smartphone ?
it could have the most basic features and could be based on android 4.4 kitkat....
it's purpose is mainly for backup... just in case no other rom is compatible with a certain phone and you can't find the stock rom anywhere...
please reply to my gmail id if you have any idea of doing so....
rajju 3004 @ gmail . com

Note: Never ever change or add any new fonts to a Karbonn device...

I am glad to see first person who rooted with the help of my tutorial and files. That also confirms the steps are perfect. Actually worked for me so should work for all. Thanks a lot for your faith and trust in me. Will be around for more developement and roms.
Success!
]I have rooted by iberry-auxus note 5.5 as per your guidance.
But the USB DRIVER not correctly installed.
I have updated the driver through device manager
My operating system is windows 7 ultimate x64
Everything went smooth as you instructed
Thank you for developing this guide to root the model.
:victory:
The USB DRIVERS can be downloaded from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180436
Using the note for about 2weeks. Rooted successfully. Titanium backup is not working properly. Any solution for it.
Also the network refresh is poor. So network switching is very slow and many times have to manually do refresh or reboot.
latest twrp recovery
while browsing through elephone p2000 thread I came across this link which gives the latest twrp recovery
http://n2k1.com/n2k1/ELEPHONE_P2000/
Downloaded the 8.77 MB file flashed the recovery file alone through sp flash tools
Working fine on our auxus 5.5 note.
flashing the preloader is not necessary though is it?
Yes it is not necessary
hi mahendra .this is great .didn't expect rom development on fast track so soon .
going to root my brothers mobile with this method now but want to make sure if phone will receive updates normally after that.

I am not sure if above USB driver is useful or not. But when you connect MT6592 Phone to PC without Battery, the PC shows a box with
"Searching drivers for YunOS system"
and if Internet is connected , it will download a tiny driver automatically from Microsoft site for Chinese Mobile Phones and an entry in Device Manager appears like
"YunOS ACB Interface"
Now Flashing Tool will automatically connect your phone to pc on next available COM PORT (COM3 or COM4 etc.)
So it is not USB Driver. It needs YunOS ACB Driver. You can find it separately somewhere on net, if searched.

No, Preloader is not necessary but in case it is wiped or corrupted, its good to flash the original provided by company makers. I have included all Preloaders directly from respective company stock roms

Seems drivers are not properly installed. These are new drivers by iBerry.
1) Uninstall any android driver you installed before from ControlPanel/Programs. Reboot/Restart PC/Laptop
2) Install this USB Preloader Driver http://d-h.st/kcH (from iBerry)
3) Then Install this SPFlashtool Driver http://d-h.st/vRd (from iBerry)
4) Reboot PC/Laptop/Computer , Keep pc connected to Internet on all the time. DO NOT yet connect phone to pc.
5) After computer restarts Run SPFT "flash_tool.exe" and press DOWNLOAD button
6) Now connect phone (without battery) to pc. Let windows install drivers, then flashing will start in less than 5 min. Dont wait for hours.
Hope this helps and inform if works.
PS: For GOD's sake do not quote whole opening post in your queries. Do you want me to read my own thread? Hope you have read XDA basic terms and conditions.

Thank You, I managed to root my phone with your help Mahendra. Also, my apologies for quoting the whole post. I suppose it needs editing including driver links. I also removed SIM card from the phone before rooting.
Rooting apart, I wanted to ask if there are any advantages/differences by installing your ROM? Can I not create a ROM by taking a complete image of my current phone's state? I was thinking about Xposed Framework. Not sure but your advice would really help.
Finally, I was wondering if there are any good flip cases available online. The local stores do not have any for this brand and model as it's fairly new in the market. The one from iBerry is Rs 990 which I think is unreasonable. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Also, is there a way to light up the soft buttons?
Thank You and keep up the good work.
Is there any chance of there being a cm11 port on this phone?
I don't like the icon size on the stock ROM and Titanium Backup doesn't work

I dont use or recommend Xposed FW. You can use as per your requirement. Works fine.
This is rooting tutorial. I will be happy if you stick to the rooting related questions in this thread from next time. A little XDA terms and conditions page will help a bit to you and us.
Yes, flip cover by iBerry is costly and even I am also looking for low-cost option.

Move Titanium App to internal memory or install Link2SD, check settings and then install Titanium Backup. plz google for more info on titanium.

For titanium backup issues try super user app by Koushik Dutta (flashable zip file link is available in play store). First uninstall super su from the application itself. Then install super user through recovery. Ignore the warning regarding su binary.
---------- Post added at 04:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:26 PM ----------
It worked for me. Just take a nandroid backup of your current rom before giving a try.

Vodafone Smart first 6* NL *(EU) Rooting and More!
Done & Closed! After a wild chase finding the correct tools and apk's this took me 2 days to complete an fully rooted and Simlock free Vodafone branded Smart Firt 6.
Most of the files can be downloaded from below here on XDADISCLAIMER:
Rooting your phone and using custom Recoveries and ROM's have risks and may Void your warranty and can result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturers. In case of any mishap I am not responsible if you brick/ruin your phone in any way.
Basic computer skills are required and minimal knowledge about the phone and phone utilities also.
Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.
It may be that you get an *softbrick *(bootloop) because Vodafone still pushing update's for their Firmware patching and upgrading the software!
To be safe please use methods given by: Androrooter and or Kirito9 !
#Rooting:
1# Download the root.apk onto your phone or SD card and install.
2# Now start the app and you will see it's all in Chinese, just click on the Root Shield Badge ontop of the screen.
3# Let it do its magic installing the scripts most likely it will auto reboot your phone without rooting it,
you must restart the root app again and click on the Badge (like done at step 2#).
~Now you are Rooted but the Superuser is Chinese and what i have noticed it's a temporary Root, if you lose root again just redo step 2#!
4# Download and install SuperSu-2.46 now launch an root app most likely the Chinese app will popup granting
for root permission, you must click on the colored (grant) button to accept.
5# Download an Root browser i.e. File Manager and let it gain Root permission, if SuperSu wont ask for Root it's now save to uninstall the Chinese app.
~From now on you permanently Rooted, don't go installing/modding stuff yet until you made an systems backup!
#Twrp or Cwm Recovery (PC version):
1# Download ADB Driver and install on PC. Download from here; http://www.datafilehost.com/d/2267ab98
2# Download TWRP Setup (thanks to Dees_Troy & Yuweng) and unzip on your PC.
3# Activate USB debugging under developer mode* and connect with USB to your PC.
(done by *tapping 7 times on the build number in the about phone section)
3a# Open the Twrp setup.exe and click on the next button.
3b# Just wait till the installation is completed followed by credits.
3c# On the next window, click on yes to proceed.
3d# Select Start Easy Magic TWRP Installer for MediaTek and click on ok
3e# Click on Yes to auto port.
3f# Now make sure your phone is connected, adb driver installed and usb debugging enabled, then click on OK.
~if you get any pop up msg on your phone screen just click on yes.
Just wait for a few seconds while the setup is been completed,
if the process was successful, your phone should automatically reboot into recovery.
~Now you need to make an full backup with Twrp so that all the files are safe!
#More Updates following Soon! To be safe please use methodes given by: Androrooter and or Kirito9 !

Kingroot 4.8 worked, so I ran the TWRP Setup and guess what another way to ruin the phone even further. Stuck in a boot loop now.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUYS GUIDE! It will most likely break your phone from start to finish!
Please provide a reset copy of your system.img and recovery.img for people who have lost their phones due to this guide, it would be very useful as the devices can be restored if adb / fastboot access can be achieved.

Well well QuantumRevenger,
Sorry to hear that this method didn't worked out nicely for you.
Maybe your firmware got upgraded and the recovery didn't stick?!
Did you try the combination Power + Vol Up while the phone is off and enter
the Recovery menu clear Cache + Dalvik after this reboot.
I can't help you with the systems files because i ditched the vodafone firmware for Vanilla 4.4.2 Android.
The only thing i can do for you is point to this thread where i moved towards myself-> MTK devices
Here you will learn an little how your MTK device works, also you can search XDA for an different Easy Magic TWRP or CTR or even Philz!

Hello RHodgett,
It most likely would work because this model bought by Vodafone for their (EU) market.
As we all know it's a cheap china phone suited for Vodafone requirements!
~Not speaking for the firmware updates they push once an while~
But rooting can be done very easy with the given root from my post or even now with the updated
Kingroot 4.8 said by QuantumRevenger. And like for the custom recovery it can get tricky mentioned by QuantumRevenger, i had no problem with this at that moment.
But i urge you to read my answer to QuantumRevenger problem from above, after that you can decide at your own risk.
Enjoy
&
Good Luck!
Thanks, I'll give this a go when the handset arrives in a few days and report back.
Can you explain how to then install the Vanilla 4.4.2 Android firmware? (or any other suitable stock firmware for the device)
Come to the otherside

No Problem & you're welcome!,
For flashing roms you need an custom recovery otherwise you can't Flash.
Nobody here is tailoring for our Vodafone branded(China) smart first 6 so you have to go where i send QuantumRevenger towards and where i am. (See post answering QuantumRevenger).
Here you can use the roms and learn more about our MTK devices in general.
For flashing roms you must install in the recovery as an zip file and then you're done!
MTK has other methodes to install but that's for advance users only.
Enjoy
&
Goodluck.
Hi, I've root using the Chinese apk and root checker says the device is rooted but I wasn't able to install SuperSU 2.46, it keeps saying the binaries need to be updated and it fails every time I update.
Rebooting using the TWRP setup just shows the Powered by android splash. I'm not sure what to do now?
Edit: Ok I've flashed a recovery from the threads you linked, finally got a bootloader working. Now to flash a ROM Got CM12.1 running, thanks!
DID not work for me
So I followed all the steps and everything seemed to work fine. The TWRP software said it was going to reboot into recovery but it is stuck at the android logo screen.
When I hold power button + up key its the same, stuck at the android screen.
When I hold power button + down key it boots into vodafone android.
I'm kind of stuck to what to do now (sorry I am really new to this)?

When I hold power button + down key it boots into vodafone android.
I'm kind of stuck to what to do now (sorry I am really new to this)?

Darn that's a bummer! It worked for me and had everything running xposed, SuperSu etc. :/
Try another Magic installer use CWM or Phillz, they can be found here or via google.
So weird i bet Vodafone did a firmware push on there bootloader or not all EU firmwares are the same(dat would be pretty nonlogical).
Sorry for the troubles please try the above solution and report back if that fixed it.
Goodluck!

Hello Onlydongles,
for root you can use kingroot 4.8 or the given Root apk from above.
Just install like any app for Android and follow the instruction.

That's the problem. SiInce the file is in ZIP format, downloading into the SD card and then doing the Power+Vol up, and update from SD zip, gives me an aborted message.
Putting the Zip file in the Phone memory (not the sd card) just doesn't open the file, saying format not supported.(casue it is ZIP)
What am I missing? please help with a step by step idiots guide, if you can .

The root is an normal APK there are only two zip files here; the TWRP and the SuperSu.
TWRP.zip is an magic installer for your PC with the given USB drivers and Debuging turned on(See my guide).
Now SuperSu.zip can only be installed via an custom recovery like TWRP.
I'm noticing you're trying to flash without an
custom recovery?, that's an no go.
1# Root with given or Kingroot 4.8.
2# Install custom recovery TWRP, CWM or Phillz (Must be an magic installer version via PC) all these versions can be found on Xda.
3# Flash SuperSu via custom recovery and replace the first installed Root!
That's all there is to it, no deeper layers on how-to install.

OK got it. THe only way I could get the APK into my phone is via the phones own browser from this site. I could only move from my pc as a ZIP file only. Hence could not install. But now its done. I think I am rooted now. Root checker still says not rooted, but I can use ES file explorer and have managed to remove a few app. Does this mean it is Rooted?
Can I remove the Rooting apk from the phone now without any adverse impact?
I have also managed to load the TWRP on the SD card. IF I want to Flash a rom, how do I go about it? Can you link and stable ROM which I can use? Need a small tutorial.
AND very many mahy thanks for your support on here and input.

Okay Onlydongles,
I don't think you have Root (yet!), Es browser has an side menu.
Here you must scroll down and select Root Explorer, that's the real test if you got Rooted!
If not install Kingroot 4.8 via your phone browser.
For ROMs you have to go where I send everybody towards ->MTK Devices (link given in answers above).
Flashing ROMs is easy done by custom recovery select the downloaded ROM zip and flash with the given creator instructions B).

BACKUP YOUR EFS PARTITION BEFORE DOING ANYTHINGIf EFSpartition is corrupted or lost, you would not be able to get calls and wifi and your IMEI will be permanently lost.
There is currently no way of restoring corrupted EFS partition since it is device specific, so flashing stock firmware will also be useless
Here is one guide. follow this or any other that works for you.
Here is another (droid view.com/restore-efs-imei-galaxy-s7/)
OR You can Backup all partitions using twrp (nandroid backup) and store in someplace safe (make sure to tick all partitions including EFS)
This is an excellent guide regarding EFS (thanks to @PlayingPoise). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING IT BEFORE PROCEEDING.
TWRP (With/without magisk) (huge thanks to @santhoosh)
Thread
there are two .tar files, flash the one you need
Pro Tip: I would recommend Smalipatcher module to reboot directly into magisk system.
Installing EdXposed
See This for installation video OR This Or This for installation guide.
This, for official website
And This for github!
NOTE: v0.4.6.0_beta from github requires custom magisk otherwise the system wont boot since github hosts alpha versions, so i advice to follow the video tutorial since it has installed the most stable EdXposed
Rooting with Magisk (Currently causing random bootloops since custom Kernal is req., i recommend flashing twrp with magisk)
From magisk official repo and This Link, Both are same, but i just wanted to make AIO thread)

Unlocking Bootloader
Normally I wouldn’t provide instructions for this, but since things had changed drastically from previous Samsung devices, and there are some caveats, I figure this would be helpful.
* Allow bootloader unlocking in Developer options → OEM unlocking
* Reboot your device to download mode. Either use adb reboot download, or use turn off m30s, press vol+ and vol- simultaneously (while powered off) and connect to pc.
* Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot.
Just when you think the bootloader is unlocked, it is actually not! Samsung introduced VaultKeeper, meaning the bootloader will reject any unofficial partitions before VaultKeeper explicitly allows it.
* Go through the initial setup. Skip through all the steps since data will be wiped again later when we are installing Magisk. Connect the device to internet in the setup!
* Enable developer options, and confirm that the OEM unlocking option exists and grayed out! The VaultKeeper service will unleash the bootloader after it confirms that the user has the OEM unlocking option enabled.
* if there is no OEM unlock option, set phone's date to 7+ days and back and now see.
* Your bootloader now accepts unofficial images in download mode.
Instructions
* Download the firmware for your device.
* Unzip the firmware and copy the AP tar file to your device. It is normally named as AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5
* Install the latest Magisk Manager
* In Magisk Manager: Install → Install → Select and Patch a File and select the AP tar file.
* Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar
* Copy the patched file to your PC with adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched.tar. Do not use MTP as it is reported to corrupt files.
* Reboot to download mode, and flash magisk_patched.tar as AP in Odin, together with the BL, CP and HOME_CSC files. Never flash only an AP file, as Odin can shrink your /data file-system if you do.
Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
* Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device! But there are still several steps before you can properly use the device.
* We now want to boot into the stock recovery to factory reset our device.
* Full data wipe is mandatory! Do not skip this step.
* Press Power + Volume Down to exit download mode. As soon as the screen turns off, immediately press the Vol up and power to boot to recovery . Since we want to boot into stock recovery, continue pressing the volume up button until you see the stock recovery screen.
* Use volume buttons to navigate through the stock recovery menu, and the power button to select an option. Choose Wipe data/factory reset to wipe the data of the device.
* This time, we can finally boot to the system with Magisk. Select Reboot system now, and immediately press the combo key to recovery. After seeing the bootloader warning screen, release all buttons so it can boot to the system.
* The device will automatically reboot for the first time it boots. This is completely normal and done by design.
* After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. The following steps will need an internet connection.
* You shall see Magisk Manager in your app drawer; if not, manually install the APK you downloaded in step 3 and continue to the next step. The app would be a stub and it shall automatically upgrade to the full Magisk Manager when you open it.
* Magisk Manager will ask to do additional setups. Let it do its job and the app will automatically reboot your device.
Voila! Enjoy Magisk
Additional Info
* Magisk actually patches 3 partitions on your device:
vbmeta: replace with empty vbmeta image to disable partition verification
boot: remove the signature of the image to prevent soft bricks
recovery: this is where Magisk is actually installed
* Never, ever try to restore either of the 3 images mentioned back to stock! You can easily brick your device by doing so, and the only way out is to do full Odin restore following with factory reset. Just don’t do it.
* If you want to upgrade your device, never flash the stock AP tar file with the reasons mentioned above. Always pre-patch the firmware before flashing in Odin.
* If you don’t need to patch the full firmware, you can manually create a tar file with at least vbmeta.img, boot.img, and recovery.img to let Magisk Manager patch your images in the proper way.
Due to the fact that some devices no longer uses ramdisk in boot images, Magisk has no choice but to be installed in the recovery partition. For these devices, you will have to boot to recovery every time if you want Magisk. Since both Magisk and recovery lives in the same partition, what you actually end up getting when you choose to boot to recovery will be determined by how long you press volume up.
1. Powering up normally → System without Magisk
2. Power + Volume Up → Bootloader warning → Release all buttons → System with Magisk
3. Power + Volume Up → Bootloader warning → Keep holding volume up → Actual recovery
I would recommend Smalipatcher module to reboot directly into magisk system.
Updates: For each and every updates, either magisk or system update always patch the firmware with magisk and flash using odin(data will not be wiped if HOME_CSC
used instead of CSC)
RMM state Prenormal solution
Flash stock firmware
Boot up WITH sim inserted, CONNECT to internet during setup (or you can connect after setting up, but perform below operations only when connected to internet).
Enable developer options and go to them.
Now connect to internet and go to dev options, now set date 8 days back and check dev options for OEM unlocking
if it's still not there set date to today and again 8 days back and again check.
This worked for me and OEM unlocking was there and RMM state was changed to checking.
(what we are doing is fooling phone to believe that sim was inserted for more than 7 days)

Respected Forum Members and Readers,
I am an Android Rooting Enthusiast and I am totally new to this realm of hacking into the device and gaining its full access. I have just known about it through videos on youtube and have myself tried to root my device Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro by following videos not knowing really how the things work in actual and ended up losing original firmware. But since then I have been trying to find how to actually root a system by even reading the Book on Hacking by XDA Developers written by Jason Tyler. I have somewhat came to know the internal working but I am also a bit afraid as to try again to root my device as i really don't know how to do it till now and this time i can really not lose my device. But i still want to gain access of it and explore the infinite advantages of having a rooted device. Plz if anybody can help me walk my way through it.
Rooting a device's Android simply means to add "superuser" ( AKA root ) functionality to Android OS, will say add an Android user with elevated rights ( comparable to Administrator in Windows OS).
Because your phone runs Android 7 ( Nougat ) IMO the most easiest method to root your device's Android: Replace Android's Toybox binary - what is a restricted version by default - by unrestricted Toybox v0.8.5.

it's very simple, i will try to be less technical but bear with me,
so, rooting is simply gaining access to systems core, by core i mean ability to access, modify and write into system (structure and file).
it is a great responsibility, as a simple stupid move can cause system to crash and may also brick your device.
------------------------------ but, don't worry as we here in XDA are there to help you,
as, the device in question is a Samsung j7 pro, normal rooting methods will not work as Samsung by default make it difficult to root it's phone.
you may refer this article to root your phone click here.
----------------------------- but it's some what technical so, i will explain, what is written there in next post.
so, about what's in the article,
--------------------- first things first, you may cause damage to your device so, just to make sure i will not be responsible for any damage.
let's begin, what i will tell you about?
ODIN (a software by Samsung to flash original firmware {that comes with phone})
TWRP(custom recovery, a tool that is installed (flashed using odin )on phone to flash custom rom)
Some tweaks files like RMM State By-Pass.zip and no-verity-opt-encrypt don't think much about them, they just bypass some restriction set by Samsung so, that rooting is successful. you can flash them through TWRP.
you can get link through the article for all required files so,
Download Samsung driver from here,
install them on your PC
download ODIN from here,
after it, open settings app >> about phone >> software info >> then click build number 5-10 times till you are a developer option appears.
after enabling developer option go to developer option, find it using search bar in settings app, it should be inside about phone section.
inside developer option enable USB debugging and also enable OEM unlock option.
after enabling OEM unlock option -----part 2 below.
this was part one if you got all till now you are good to go,
Connect your USB cable with PC. Switch off your device. Then, enter into Download mode. To do this; press and hold down the Volume Down +Home+ Power buttons and connect your micro USB Cable.
{

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Press the Volume Up button to continue when you see the warning message.
Now, connect the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro mobile to the computer via USB cable.
download and extract odin downloaded earlier.
launch odin by clicking on odin.exe file
After connecting the Samsung device, click on the PDA/PA button to browse/search and get the TWRP from where you saved it on your PC. Also, navigate to “options” and save settings like shown below.
after all this your phone should reboot automatically, and voila you have successfully flashed twrp on your device.
now power off your phone,
boot into twrp by pressing Volume Up + Home+ Power Button
then, it will boot into twrp.
Select Wipe->Advance Wipe->Select Cache Data
Return to Home of TWRP select Install
Select Magisk.zip (you can download magisk from github of magisk or from here )
slide to install.
same process for RMM State By-Pass.zip and no-verity-opt-encrypt install file one by one.
after all the process you should reboot into system.
then download magisk app and now you have root access, enjoy and like the post if you want.
@[email protected]
Thank You for taking pains to elaborate the process. i just want to ask one question are you sure this method won't brick my device this time. Sorry i am being like that because the phone i have mentioned is my mother's so she would be really pissed if it does not go right. @Arihant0908
take note that in order to root Android by means of Magisk, as recommended / advised by @[email protected], neither ODIN nor TWRP is needed: flashing TWRP in this case - as a necessary prerequisite - is an absolute overkill.
All you need is to install Magisk Root app.

take note that in order to root Android by means of Magisk, as recommended / advised by @[email protected], neither ODIN nor TWRP is needed: flashing TWRP in this case - as a necessary prerequisite - is an absolute overkill.
All you need is to install Magisk Root app.

take note mr./mrs. @jwoegerbauer
if you know anything about magisk then you should know that it is not a one click root tool, you need to flash magisk for you to gain root access.
next, yes you only need to boot twrp but in case of samsung we need custom recovery to fix errors so it's good to have it flashed. odin helps remove complexity, and is safe to use.
i was trying to provide best stable and tested path and don't interfere if you don't know anything about topic, i humble request not to confuse people @jwoegerbauer

Ok so... in the end what i have understood is that:
1. I need to have Magisk.zip, RMM and no verity encrypt files on Phone.
2. I need TWRP, odin and android usb driver by samsung for windows 10 installed on pc.
3. I need to first flash TWRP using odin. Boot up my device
4. Then boot to TWRP, wipe cache, and flash Magisk.zip, RMM and no verity one by one as in one thing at a time using TWRP. Boot up and install magisk app.
If i missed something, disordered anything or have any suggestions then plz reply. Thank You

on 4th point first flash magisk zip file download from
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk (click on code and download)
flash magisk zip through TWRP then RMM and no verity encrypt file
then boot
if magisk app is present after booting then no need to download app else download the app from google
