It's been a while since I've last messed with it, but my memory says I had issues reading an OTG-ready flash drive until I used my bacon to format the drive in the OS (not recovery). It recognized that I had a drive plugged in, but it couldn't read anything I had on it.
Bear in mind, you'll wipe everything from the drive if you do this, but it was the only way to format the drive so that my phone could read it. But again, it's been a while since I did this last.

It doesn't recognize it when you plug it in? Not at all? Have you tried reformatting it from a PC?

[Q] G2x Bricked

I have read lots of post, but could not find any post related to my issue.
After flashing different ROMs and Kernels my G2x wont boot into any ROM.
I have tried "volume up and down", it wont recognize USB.
Only way I know phone is working is that it turns on and boots only into clockworkmode recovery.
Please let me know if you know any fixes for this issue.
It kinda sounds like u may of flashed the kernel. I flashed a ics kernel by mistake on a cm7 rom and it did what you described. I used a process called nvflash.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
How did you do NV flash I am not able to connect to pc? Is it possible to run the zip from clockworkmod?
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
Hey man, could you give us a little more information so we could try to figure out what is causing the issue? First off, did you originally install CWM with NvFlash?
Secondly, what was the latest setup (rom, kernel, gapps, tweak/mods, etc) that you flashed and in what order? Did you accidentally format or delete something you shouldn't have? Do you have the proper drivers installed for the phone to be recognized by your PC? Since you're able to get into CWM, try doing a full wipe and reflashing rom, kernel and gapps. Make sure sure to do a full data factory/reset, wipe both caches, format /system under mounts and storage, and try fixing permissions after flashing.
I believe I had Richie MIUI rom first with Mazout360 gb kernel then then I switched to different kernel. Phone wasn't doing well with any of those kernels so I went into recovery, wiped and flashed different rom. After which my phone didn't boot and was going straight into recovery. I wiped mount data/all of them; mount and unmount /all; used volk nulifier ; used scrub. I did all of that because I was not able to use USB / power volume up and down don't work neither. I don't know what else to do.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
Try using a different USB cable and then flash ROM for recovery.

I've seen another thread a while back where a person could not get the phone to be recognized Roth the battery out....but with the battery in he was able to do it...just a thought

Thanks, but tried that as well and different pc and different cable. I can't figure out what went wrong. Good thing is that I got spare one and g2x now is very cheap.

How do we write? Also which file explorer has the functionality.
Also, I agree the bug calls for a reboot to fix. Only way is to unmount the drive before you pull the device.

Problems with mounting system..

Hi, for some reason the system keeps unmounting itself, I'm running on TWRP 2.7.0.1 recovery with Slimkat 3.8 weekly ROM and next kernel, I tried using fix permissions, but the system still keeps unmounting itself,
I flashed TWRP recovery twice and problem is still there, any ideas? thanks in advance.

brother is your sd card ok
i also experienced the same but after i inserted different card and then again inserted my first card and booted in recovery and wiped cache partition
it worked
if the problem still persists then it might be a hardware problem due to falling or something like that or there is a problem with card slot of the tab
My sdcard is in good condition
what I meant was the system or internal sdcard, it keeps unmounting itself even after fixing permissions...
maybe the internal is broken, I'll try to go to samsung for support, but I forgot that I'm rooted :sly:

You want version 3, 1.85. At least that's what I used when I soft bricked mine and it worked flawlessly. Ya, sammobile takes forever, you think they'd speed that up a bit.

[Q] Does the Note 12.2 generate enough power to run mass storage devices

Does the Note 12.2 generate enough power to run self powered mass storage devices? or we have to use powered USB Hub ?
My note pro doesn't run any kind of mass storage devices ( I'm not rooted )
One says external power needed and the other one keep ticking .
my Note 3 run them with no problems.
any one with note pro pls test and advice back.

I tried one on my NotePro but no joy: but, then I can't even get a flash drive to mount. The drive works fine with my older Xoom. With the NotePro it doesn't even power up.

Which USB ptg cable do you have? I have a couple of different ones. I managed to get one of them to let me connect my dive computer and download, but not any of the drives.
I have one that converts the USB 3.0 micro B to a standard USB. It seems to be pretty good. It is a solid piece instead of a cable, but it doesn't work with anything, including my dive computer.

Did you try to use Mass storage before rooting? as one of the posters mentioned that root will give extra permission to fire mass storage with out external power? he said root and instal stick mount / folder mount and enjoy.
I'm afraid to root before making sure that it is not a hardware problem as service center in our area don't know Even that we can mount mass storage device.

I dont have any?? I rooted mine as soon as it was available. I was just making sure the answer provided before hand had taken into account that the original posters hard drive was not powered by its own power source. It wasn't clear from the answer I quoted beforehand. I dont see the point in any android device without root.

I agree root is a must but once root warranty will void so i need to make sure that device is free off hardware problems (which I'm not sure).
