[Q] Does the Note 12.2 generate enough power to run mass storage devices - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the Note 12.2 generate enough power to run self powered mass storage devices? or we have to use powered USB Hub ?
My note pro doesn't run any kind of mass storage devices ( I'm not rooted )
One says external power needed and the other one keep ticking .
my Note 3 run them with no problems.
any one with note pro pls test and advice back.

I tried one on my NotePro but no joy: but, then I can't even get a flash drive to mount. The drive works fine with my older Xoom. With the NotePro it doesn't even power up.

Strange mine recognizes not only external sd card readers but flash drives as well. Maybe it is the uab ptg cable you are using

Which USB ptg cable do you have? I have a couple of different ones. I managed to get one of them to let me connect my dive computer and download, but not any of the drives.
I have one that converts the USB 3.0 micro B to a standard USB. It seems to be pretty good. It is a solid piece instead of a cable, but it doesn't work with anything, including my dive computer.

Did you try to use Mass storage before rooting? as one of the posters mentioned that root will give extra permission to fire mass storage with out external power? he said root and instal stick mount / folder mount and enjoy.
I'm afraid to root before making sure that it is not a hardware problem as service center in our area don't know Even that we can mount mass storage device.

I dont have any?? I rooted mine as soon as it was available. I was just making sure the answer provided before hand had taken into account that the original posters hard drive was not powered by its own power source. It wasn't clear from the answer I quoted beforehand. I dont see the point in any android device without root.

I agree root is a must but once root warranty will void so i need to make sure that device is free off hardware problems (which I'm not sure).

Just a thought

So I'm waiting for my SD card
And
I have no USB cord at the moment
From what I know g2x don't have fastboot
But
I was wondering if I could flash a rom from my internal memory via terminal emulator
Like so
Flash_zip update data/update.zip
Just curious because I'm impatient
Plz dnt bite my head off it was just a thought for us impatient few and I'm not brave enough to try without input
EDIT
First in terminal to wipe
It would be
format system?
Or
Format ......
And obviously after flashing
Type "reboot"
But generally speaking wouldn't that be the same as flashing thru clockwork
Just a more technical way and from internal memory?

Broken or not?

So here's the deal. My phone is stuck at 2.3.6 no matter what I try. I tried Kies update it wont recognize my device. I tried Odin to get CWM the same thing. I have tried numerous computers and none will recognize my device yet all of which I can charge my phone off of. When I press volume up and down all I get is an option to install update from zip, wipe cache, and format phone. Why can I not root this phone? My build number shows GINGERBREAD.UCLA3. Please help.

I know this is rather simple, but in your actual phone settings, did you set up USB connect as charge only? This is what it is sounding like to me that you have done.
Go into phone settings, and then USB Utilities, then connect storage to PC. Low and behold your computer should quickly go nuts and say HEY we've got something here to play with. You might want to try to do this with the Phone unplugged from the computer to start with, then once the phone tells you to plug it into the computer do it then.

Skyrocket detects external 32gb microsd card, but won't be read by...

I just recently purchased a 32gb class 10 micro sd card for my skyrocket, and it works perfectly fine.
The only issue i have is that the microsd card won't be read unless i use a file manager such as astro.. Apps like gallery or mxplayer won't read the microsd card.
This didn't happen with the 16gb class 4 micro sd card, so what is happening?
Anyway to fix this issue?
Thanks

Mini Tools Partition Wizard is the program to use if you are on windows. Use it to format the card to fat32 primary. If that doesn't do it replace the card.

Is there anyway to make the paths so the phone can determine its correct location?
Could it be the difference in size of the card itself too?

Yes, i am rebooting.
Only issue is that to view images in apps like gallery or mxplayer, the folder has to be on the root of the sdcard. Before i had a group of folders in one, and now it won't let me do this.

Uninstall USB drivers and than plug in the blaze and let your PC recognize it or go to the T-Mobile site and DL the drivers. I've had that happen when I plugged in other phones, most recently when I got my s4. It wouldn't let me open the folders for the blaze. It would flash on than off. Just don't plug the other phone in again after you get the drivers. If it still don't work try regedit and see if its leaving behind traces after the uninstall of the drivers.:good:
