Help rooting and installing ROM - Mate 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys.
I'm new to Huawei devices. I've previously successfully rooted LG, Samsung and HTC devices, but I'm having trouble to understand how this works on the Mate 8.
I have a NXT-L09 model from AT&T Mexico. I didn't have any issue getting the code to unlock the bootloader nor installing TWRP so I thought it waa going to be easy to root by just installing the SuperSU zip in TWRP.
The issue is that TWRP is asking me for a password I didn't set and is unable to read my internal storage. I have researched and discovered that is because the device is encrypted.
My plan is to first make a backup of my current ROM because I haven't found a stock ROM of the C212B120 version I have. Then I'd like to root my phone so I want to make sure that there's something I can do to decrypt my phone, I have read that there is a file that is flash able in TWRP, but does it depend on the model or something?
I'm also considering flashing the stock international ROM so I can have fastest updates. How could I make the model change?
Please, if anybody is able to clarify this to me and guide me through the process, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

This is SAD...
Hey man, i think that is very sad that there are almost none updates for the same rom, I'am also on ATT Single Rom L09C212, and i have no luck updating it or finding firmwares.
did you update your phone?
i just hope that huawei release the nougat update for our phones.
greetings from Monterrey!

Any chance to upgrade from b133 chinese room to marshmello Global room without root?

Im pretty new with Hauwei and i cant understand how to put a Global rom with Hebrew on my Ascend mate 7,
it is now running a chinese room model b133 and every time im trying to update it throw dload and at the update software it failed.
im working on it for 4 hours and i didnt find a way to do it without rooting the device ( witch i dont want to due a low experience at rooting devices and im afraid of brick.)
Thanks
Technically you don't need root. But you need an unlocked bootloader. Of the upgrade is for the same region it should work. Make sure it is

I don't have an answer for your question, however I have a suggestion. Why not consider upgrading to Chinese LP and then Chinese MM, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP recovery and then Flash Kang VIP B555a.

Im really trying to learn but guys im pretty new at that staff..
Ok so the main idea is that i have to open the bootloader and to flash TWRP recovery just to get rid of the chinese rom? No any other options?

Well, I think you'll need a unlocked bootloader if you want to try out a rom for a different region.
You can try upgrading to an international LP rom via local update. I am not sure if that will work though because I haven't tried that ever. Local update is unlikely to break your phone even if the update fails.

ROOT & Stock ROM for SM-J727S Galaxy J7 May 2017

Hi guys,
I was hoping someone could help me out. I have rooted before (long time ago) but I can't seem to find a lot of information on this specific phone (SM-J727S). I have been searching online (and across many dodgy looking websites, thanks No Script!) and this is about all that I have found:
The Galaxy J7 is also known as the Galaxy Wide 2 in South Korea
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=device&id=11601&c=samsung_sm-j727s_galaxy_wide_2
It was released on May 2017, runs Android 7.0 (Nougat) and uses the Exynos chipset
TWRP has a release for the J700 series but I'm not sure if it would work on the J727S
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxyj7exynos.html
The source code for the system has been released, but I couldn't find a stock ROM (which made me reluctant to try TWRP)
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=j727s
This is the closest I got to a Stock ROM but I don't trust the site, is this site trustworthy? (again, I came across too many dodgy sites to just download anything)
https://stockromupdate.com/2017/07/26/stock-rom-sm-j727s-samsung-galaxy-wide-2/
The KingRoot method currently will not work and is asking me to wait for an update (phone is probably too new to root?)
The closest thing I can find on this forum are these posts (but none reference the J727S model)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/development/root-sm-j727p-galaxy-j7-perx-td-lte-t3611202
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/root-sm-j727p-galaxy-j7-perx-galaxy-j7-t3598117
So, I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance
I'd thought I'd mention that the bootloader is unlockable in this phone. I had read elsewhere that other people cannot access the 'OEM Unlock' option on their version of the J7. It isn't the case with this phone
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/galaxy-j7-pop-galaxy-halo-t3647805/page2
I also got a message from Google talking about my accounts being accessed by a 'J7 Pop'. I guess the Galaxy Wide 2 is also known as the J7 Pop?
So, I'm still on the track of rooting this device. I'm just gonna update any relevant stuff here.
The closest TWRP that I can find is for the 2016 version of this phone, it has the same Exynos chipset.
I'm thinking of trying this, but are there any problems with flashing the wrong version of TWRP? (Will I brick the phone? Or will it just error-out on recovery and boot normally?)
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxyj72016exynos.html
I also found (what I believe to be) the Stock ROM for this type of phone, you have to sign up to the site in order to download it. It is specific to SK Telecom (Korean telecommunications provider)
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/samsung-galaxy/SM-J727S/SKC/download/J727SKSU1AQD6/172065/
If someone can advise about going forward with the similar TWRP version I'd appreciate it. Cheers!
EDIT: Kinda answered my own question, from the TWRP download page https://dl.twrp.me/j7xelte/
Downloading an image for a different device, no matter how similar, usually does not work.

Any way to request an TWRP version?
I am Korean, and it's very hard It's angry me............................
XDDDD I'm from South Korea too and the J727S is customized with the Knox Enrollment Service that blocks the wifi and cellular data AND apk installization. (trying to uninstall it )
I found this: https://www.androidinfotech.com/2018/02/root-samsung-galaxy-wide-2-sm-j727s-nougat.html
anyone habe twrp for this model ????
Hi.. I've this model also.. tried to downgrade..but it can't..always failed
My friend was installing the twrp to root a J7 metal.
Now the cell phone does not restart, and I do not know what the **** it did KKkkkkkkkkkk
It wants to remove the twrp without formatting the device.
If installing the original rom by Odin using home_csc does it return to normal without formatting?
Restore

Hello mate, i found a solution and successfully update my device to Oreo officially i just changed the CID and MID back to KIDDI japan au and downloaded the marshmallow official flash zip file (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1noyAV4mGLTRNGaXqbdweRHsARWZ9J6LH) and install it by placing it to Mirco SD card after installation i went to software update and updated to Oreo. Hello. I tried to use a Custom ROM. I unlocked my bootloader using ADB and htc's account in this site [ htcdev.com ] to get a key, and installed TWRP. Now i'm with problems. I tried many custom ROMs but the Wifi connection is broken and seems this version 1.28.598.4 is from America Latina (I'm from Brazil) and I couldn't get back to stock yet. If you would try, make a backup of your stock first by TWRP. I would really appreciate if you make it and share the Backup Folder.

Question Oneplus 9 LE2117 root process(T-Mobile)

With the differences between the EU, Global variants, and software versions listed in the threads I've gone through, I am having trouble finding a guide that I am sure would be applicable to root my Oneplus 9 LE2117 11.2.5.5-LE54CB. (T-Mobile)(US)
My device is SIM unlocked, and the bootloader is unlocked, but I am unsure of the best method to root.
Could anyone point me in the right direction?
Follow the steps to install magisk.

Thanks for the response. I believe that's the last step I have to complete to be done, but that is where I seem to be getting lost. I can't find a boot image for the specific model and software numbers I have. From the threads I have read I think I could use the boot image for software version 11.2.2.2 but I am uncertain.
I went ahead and used the boot.img for 11.2.2.2 and it looks like it worked.

You need 11.2.5.5 boot.img from any region. Then follow the instructions install magisk.
just use the AA image for tmobile. patch the image with magisk the file will go to your download file then fastboot boot the img file from the one get from magisk after patching and you will gain temp root. direct install with magisk and reboot. if you get into a bootloop. reset devices from recovery and you will still retain root after the reset. i have installed empty slot ota and direct install. bootlooped on ota empty slot but reset from recover fixed problem instantly and retained root. direct install no bootloop retained root.
Does anyone care to comment with insights or experiences in regards
to Rooting with Magisk which will allow for the installation on a Custom ROM at a later time -
that is, when a stable Lineage OS for example is available for the OP-9 (t-Mobile) ?
Thank You in Advance !
I doubt it but anything is possible. with the process to convert to different variants being fairly simple and accessible there will be very little focus on that particular software. It is compatible with gloabal pathched boot image to gain root and from there your pretty much able to customize to do what ever your heart desires.

Can you direct me where to find that ?
I'm having difficulties getting anything to work...
If you are on the latest Tmobile update, you can use 11.2.8.8.img from either AA,BA or DA. the boot.img are all the same.

Negative. Letters don't matter. The latest update from T-Mobile normally correlates with the latest of AA,BA,DA. If you are on the 11.2.6.6 it's 11.2.8.8. any of the boot.img will work.

See, the thing is, I was so accustomed to having an Un-Locked device from t-Mo, I didn't realize that the Awesome Dude who un-locks the SIM, does not actually un-lock the Phone. So Much Bull**** from t-Mo...
ANy-Hoo... I just applied thru the OP site to get my 9 completely un-locked.
Thank You for Your Time and Response!

Quick little bump, but I'm on 11.2.7.7.LE54CB. Has anything still changed or would I still be good to go to use the 11.2.8.8. boot.img to root or the latest 11.2.9.9.LE25AA from OnePlus's site directly?
I have managed to install the Eurepean 11.2.9.9.LE15BA for the 9 PRO le2117
I have the tmobile 9 5g version not the pro. camera doesnt pull up but otherwise runs fine
Need help here! I forgot to backup my oneplus 9 pro LE2127 when I tried to root my phone using TWRP,and I installed TWRP in my phone's boot partition which wiped out all data in that partition. I used TWRP side loaded Global ROM to recover my phone but the phone doesn't have any signal with sim card in. Used MSM tool backe to T-Mobile 11.2.5.5 and still same problem, sim card can be read but no signal. Flashed T-Mobile modem but modem b failed, it says no such partition.
Bought this phone from third party. Any suggestion is appreciated.
