I have been trying to find a way to turn on the red light built into the heart rate monitor and turn it on and off without placing my finger over it. I can access the raw data from the sensor using the *#0*# menu, but I can't find a way to activate it without the HRM proximity sensor being used to trigger it. Any ideas?

I've been working around the light sensor and with the available reg. hacks on this forum. I could not find anything that could make a difference.
Is it for real this sensor? I tried to focus a strong light towards the sensor and other times remove the light, the dimming and the device light is just the same!
I reckon technecally the light sensor should dim under high light beam and back to normal under dim light surroundings!
Works on mine. You definitly have it turned on in the power settings? I find it works best if you put your finger over sensor in bright light.
Thanks for the tip. But couldn't figure out anything that could've worked! Could you be more specific? BTW the settings under "Power" is all to default.
under Start>settings>system>power>backlight tick the box 'Auto adjust backlight'
My Galaxy S has a problem with the Light Sensor, every time i make a call my phone freezes or black screen, I tried running some sensor tests but also does same when i try the light sensor, so that must be it. have this problem for a year, at first i thought it was the proximity sensor.
When my headphone is plugged in, i dont have this problem because the light sensor wont interfear then.
I want to disable the startup of the light sensor,
I already setup ADB, so im ready to push and pull, but i don't know wich file i need to edit. remove a # here and there
Can anyone tell how wich file it is?

Sure its not the proximity sensor? Cause I got the same problem. When I accept a call screen goes black, the upper bar is visible and after a while the screen turns off. Im ceratin that is a problem with the proximity sensor or not?
Same here, yeah think its the proximity, but my light sensor also doesn't function properly, auto brightness adjustment doesnt work also.
Very anoying problem.
I have tried several apk but unfortunately no one works well because the sensor in low light, it is like being turned off.
Do you know if there is a way or a program compatible with the light sensor of the TF700?
I would need to turn it off and turn on when I close the cover.
Can imagine you could use something like Tasker maybe to set it to turn off.
Turning on is a different matter. Not sure that's possible via an APK.
Thanks for the reply.
The APK works fine.
The problem is the light sensor of the TF 700 in low light because his argument has 0 as if it were in complete darkness!
Its variation is not gradual ... changes from 0 to 300
Hi,
like the Question Titel show i search for a way to turn the display on when i wave over the proximity sensor with my hand.
It works when i have want to take the display off, but not to turn it on.
Can anybody help me please?
Reply to very old post, but might be handy for future users: have you noticed the display off monitoring in the preferences? I think you need to enable the proximity sensor there.
I noticed this problem from day one, when I turn the always on display settings ON the watch face enters the ambient mode then goes blank after 15-20sec.
Sometimes the watch face didn't even enter the ambient mode it directly goes blank. Does anyone have this issue ? Any way to fix this problem?
Do you have a tattoo on your wrist?

Try cleaning the heart rate sensor. I think the watch uses it to detect whether the watch is still on your wrist. If it thinks that it's not on your wrist, your screen will go blank rather than going into AOD.
Im right handed so always wore my watches on my left wrist. Turns out the tattoo on my left wrist screwed with the sensors so it never knew I was wearing it. AOD, & heart rate weren't working. Even worst, I set up samsung pay so I had to enter a pin everytime I looked at my watch for notifications! I've since switched my Gear s3 to my right wrist (tattoo free) and havent had any problems. AOD & Heart rate works, and only have to enter pin if I take watch off or fall asleep wearing it.
I have somehow the same problem. I want to use a nato strap though the HR sensor is blocked. Do I have any options to use the AOD without the HR sensor and have the AOD watchfaces available? My preference would be to use the dimmed watchface and not to set the display to 3 and have it always on (using a app).
