I purchased the a Tmobile Galaxy S7 via Swappa so wanted to do a refurbishment check.
Phone INFO app says that my Samsung serial number is 00000000000.
Even if I used the dialer code *#06#, it displays the IMEI only.
Is that normal? On a youtube video, it shows galaxy s7 displaying both IMEI and S/N when the dialer code is used.
I am wondering if all T-mobile s7 is like this or is it just mine?
Thank you.
It should display both, can you post a screenshot of your "About phone?"
Mine does both. Wonder if yours has a changed imei number? Something is fishy.
I uploaded the pics on imgur. Just add /a/eYHq1
Sorry for the hassle. I don't think I am qualified to attach files or include photo links and the app says network error.
Anyways, when I was taking a picture of the sticker on the back of the phone, I actually realized that the engravings say SM-G930P even though I purchased a T-mobile phone. Under 'about device' in settings, it says SM-G930T. Does that mean it's been tampered with? Someone must of flashed the T-mobile image for boot up, no? I also uploaded shots from Phone INFO app which shows that the phone is original if I run a refurbishment check but since I don't have a serial number I can't check that. Thanks for the input guys.

Now the g930p is for sprint it could be that they put a sprint back glass on it.
Or its a Chinese clone of the s7 now if it is a clone you can. Some time tell by the lcd the real s7 lcd is completely black when the screen is off now they sometimes put an older LCD on it which is a little bit lighter then original so it would be a grayish color
---------- Post added at 07:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:57 AM ----------
Try this hidden menu code *#364016#
And see what it does for you if it does something it's a clone
I did both codes. *#06# gives mine both and the other code does nothing but my phone came from T-Mobile store. I was just confirming that the codes do work

I dont know if they can make a clone this well. The lcd is black and all the hardware/software specs seems to be in line. What is the ussd code *#364016# for? It says MMI complete when I dial that code in. I don't get that hidden menu like the clone ones and the code doesnt work immediately when I put in ussd code so I have to press call button. Then I get the message MMI complete..
You can download this from the play store to check hardware info without using the dial codes that can be programmed to display false info.

Is this a Sprint thing that they removed the Samsung Serial Number from the phone? I noticed the same on 3 of my Samsung Galaxy phones from Sprint. It only has the "Android Serial Number", an 8 alpha numeric SN. All of their Samsung SN are all 11 zeros.

Wouldn't be able to tell ya because I never used sprint phones before. I returned mine and bought a new tmobile one. But unless you guys have it on the boxes or stickers or something it doesn't sound right. When you are dealing with Samsung they ask you for the serial number so probably you're supposed to have it somewhere.
Have same thing on my note 4 T mobile all 0s for SN I read somewhere some one said it is because of the security patch IDK
I am having the same issue. All 0s for the serial number. I have flashed from g930p to 930u. The lte connection became slow with only one or two bars after i flashed it. So chatted with att and they could not register the imei number because it has an error saying that the phone is only 2g capable. I checked the imei at the imei check website and it says I have a Samsung j7. It has a dark screen has S7 on the back cover,
and everything else indicates it is genuine. I plan on finishing the official Att firmware and see if that helps.

The IMEI number on my Thunderbolt does not match the one Verizon has in there system. They cannot figure out how to correct this. I even call HTC to trace the erroneous IMEi number and it doesn't come up as anything in their system. I bought phone day 1 it came out and am not rooted. What could cause this and does anyone know how to fix it. Verizon has no clue.
You have been using it since day 1? Why all of a sudden is there an issue then?
The sim works but with the wrong IMEI I won't get any updates to phone. I recently noticed that on the My Verizon section on the the verizon website, picture of my phone is blank. That's what led me to call verizon.

If you purchased it from VzW you should demand a new phone. Otherwise you don't get updates? Screw that man! They should rectify this issue.
Does the number on the box match the device? Have them scan the box.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
the number on box and phone are same. Only verizon has a different one
Then Verizon screwed up. Go get a new one.
You will still recieve ota updates... Id only raise a fuss if you had insurance on tour tbolt

I was told I wouldn't get updates because it is sent out by IMEI number which Verizon has wrong for me

If the phone and box have same IMEI # you need to tell VzW you demand they change it in their system to match yours or give you a totally new phone. You paid them for it and your service!
I am in the process of having a new phone sent to me. I wish they could figure out how to simply change the number in system but they can't seem to do it. It's been a week now. You would think it is simple to do but no one there can figure it out.
Make sure it's new and not a 'like new' replacement. Not that theres anything wrong with a refurb but it would be principle to me to obtain a new replacement for their brain fart.
Something must be really messed up as I just activated a ebay bought thunderbolt last night with a 4g sim card I had shipped to my house (both arrived same day). I called in and spoke to a woman who just took my sim card number, and told me the meid and all other info comes over automatically to verizon...and sure enough about ten minutes later when I logged in online to see it was all there...so somehow your phone is not reporting the right imei number or something has been manually over-ridden.
Verizon made good and sent be new phone. Works like a charm
bought a phone t959v with a cracked screen on ebay took out main board and put it in a new lcd assembly. phone will not connect to t-mobile. says not registered on network. i thought it might have been a bad sim reader so i put one in i new worked from a different phone. still no good . called t-mobile verified phone was not locked . they did a hard reset, still nothing. i notesed it is running 2.3.6 and i have up to 4 bars reception with antenna. does anyone have any idea what the problem could be. thanks
Check your IMEI in Settings -> About phone. Don't post it. Compare it to the IMEI behind your battery. If it is the same we can probably get you up and running. Let us know.
ok thanks will get back to you tomorow phone is at work
number in phone is different. called t-mobile number is blocked. told me to bring it to t-mobile store. if they cant do anything is there any other way to get it unblocked
Which number is blocked? The one behind the battery would seem to me to be the one that matters. That is the number you should see in your settings.
And report whoever sold you the phone on ebay if they didn't tell you the IMEI was messed up.
There is way to recover?
He can ask Odia for help if the IMEI behind the battery is good and T-Mobile can't fix it.
WHo is ODIA?

the imei behind the battery but the one in the settings is blocked. it seems as though someone switched out the main board. whitch has the blocked number on it. is there anyway to unblock this imei number. thanks
what do you mean by blocked?
Its black listed. Meaning it came from a stolen phone. It appears the OP bought a phone and was scammed. I would return the phone and do a charge back via paypal.

I have odin'd it back to 2.3.6 and to eclair, I have tried different fixes I have found but none seem to work, can anyone help or has anyone figured this out yet?

Hello XDA,
I have recently bought a Samsung S6 Edge (SM-G925F) from ebay.
On arrival and using the phone i noticed some red text saying 'Kernal is not SEandroid enforcing'. I assume the phone had been tampered with and i figured the best course of action would be to install stock software on the phone, so i went ahead and did this.
I installed the following firmware : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/57658/G925FXXU3COI9_G925FBTU3COJ1_BTU/
Now i have a new issue, the phone no longer can connect to networks.
When i try to connect to a network i get the following message 'Unable to connect, try later'.
P.S
I have noticed that the IMEI number on the back of the phone does not match the IMEI number found when dialing *#06#.
Thank you for reading

You better try to get your money back if he didnt say something was wrong with it (hope you used paypal or a creditcard). The device is probably rooted and or a custom rom was running on it. What imei do you get when dialing *#06#? is it all zero's?

No, the imei number is very similar but with 2 different digits.
The seller is willing to refund me.
Such a strange problem though, I almost wish I could understand how to fix it but I guess that will never happen now.
I have a SM-G920I, stock rom. When I dial *#06# an imei appears, it looks totally normal and its not blacklisted, but it doesnt match my imei on the back of the phone. It has not had a housing replacement or anything like that. In addition I cannot connect to my network, it says not registeres on network when I try to make a call and on my notification panel it says selected network not available. My sim does work on other phones.
I have thought that it might be a modem problem, but the imeis would still be different.
Plus, Ive thought of flashing xtrestolite and then exposed framework, then install exposed imei change.
Please help.

Hi, any advice you could give me?
Hi
I hope somebody can help me as I'm so frustrated. I own a S6 920F which has 2 different IMEI numbers and I'm unable to use the phone for texts, incoming and outgoing calls. The sim card is fine.
The IMEI Number stored in the phone does not match the original IMEI printed on the back- Both imei numbers are clean and are not blacklisted. The IMEI number stored in the phone brings up a completely different phone model.
I have contacted Samsung and EE as when I bought the phone the phone was unlocked but had EE apps and both are saying to contact vice versa. Shocking CS.
I unrooted the phone and put it back to stock which worked fine but I'm still unable to use the phone features. when I dial *#0011# it says the IMEI is NG.
Can somebody please help, can the original IMEI be restored on the phone?

Did you try to boot through the Smart Switch? I had this problem some time ago with an S3 and that solved it. Watch video. Good luck.
