Hi guys,
I bought my Honor 6 in India and am currently residing at the USA. As you would guess, only 2G works in my mobile. When I look up the frequency bands, H60-L01 has 3G (atleast) frequency bands which my network supports. Is it possible to install the ROMs of H60-L01 in H60-L04 variant? If I do install, will the 3G frequency bands of H60-L01 work in my phone? (I was googling about the frequency bands and people generally say that the mobiles might generally be capable of supporting multiple frequency bands, only, the software programming would restrict them to specific bands.)
If someone has the time to explain how/which hardware actually governs mobile data frequency bands (CPU, isn't it???) I'd be grateful.
Thanks a lot,
Jay

I doubt you'd be able to do that because its mostly a hardware setup. fixed radios and all. besides flashing another model or variants rom will definitely result in brick or bootloop

Hi Goldfin,
Thanks for your reply. I remember seeing some posts in this forum where people were given tutorials on changing Chinese Honor 6 to European model. That's why I asked.
Besides, is there a way to check the hardware's supported frequency in our mobiles?

If you mean bands, then yes.
Go search in google "will my phone work" and type what is your phone and everything else

Yes. It's more if changing region and language to have a less Chinese oriented ROM. And you can always check your phone specs on GSMarena to see what bands are supported per variant

I bought the american version of the Nexus 5 even though I am on the middle east (for price reasons). Since the snapdragon 800 chip support all LTE bands techniclly speaking, could I activate certain ones to work for me through firmware or modem modification?
Not at the moment,
There are people who believe that it will never be possible due to RF hardware differences between EU and US models.
There are people who believe that a modem firmware hack might unlock some LTE bands in the future.
Well I was hoping for a onesided, positive reply, but I guess you are right, we will wait and see.
What was the case on other Snapdragon 800 phones, were they able to activate it?
I'm only aware of few cases where some RF Bands could be activated/deactivated via an engineering menu.
I have never heard of a case when someone successfully hacked modem firmware and added new RF Bands.
Does anybody succeed trying this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...ad-progress-please-leave-im-updating-t2871269 ?
Should work for any Qualcomm based device like Nexus 5.
Thanks for any feedback.

No the program is banned. Besides we already have most the LTE bands on 2 versions. If they could fit them all on they would have done. Maximum 7 LTE bands

What do you mean by "the program is banned"??
Yes indeed there are 2 versions, but I purched my nexus 5 when I was in US and I am now in Europe!
So you can easily understand my interest for this topic...

1) never said there wasn't reason for your interest
2) it isn't possible to add European bands to US version. If it was, there would be no need for US version. Limitation on nexus 5 is physical. Maximum 7 bands.
3) the link you provided is for a program that is banned on XDA. You van tell that by reading the thread

Interesting. Can you elaborate on why there might be a "physical" limitation of 7 bands on the Nexus 5? That would be an unusual finding in a recent handset. It's certainly not the case with most current phones e.g. I've enabled dozens of additional bands on my Samsung S5 and others have done the same on various HTC, Sony, LG, etc phones.
If you have any details or a source, that would be appreciated.

Its a limitation of the WTR1605L ref receiver. 7 bands. Actually this was the first (making the msm8974 the first) to be able to do 7. 5 was the previous Max, hence why there used to be a million versions of Samsung galaxy devices

Thank you for the informative reply. You are right of course and I see now where the confusion is arising as well. As you said, the previous max was five bands as in a pentaband phone. And the WTR1605L now supports 7 bands as in a heptband phone. Three bands below 1 Ghz, three bands above and one band at 2.5 Ghz. Bands meaning spectrum frequency segments e.g. 700/800/900/1700/1800/2100/2600 Mhz.
The confusion and this is ironic as well is that 3GPP, the organization who defines the GSM standard also uses the term band to refer to something confusingly different i.e. intra-band segments. And that usage while seemingly ill advised has become ubiquitous. So a band without a context can refer to the contigous 800 Mhz segement. Or half a dozen subsets of it, each of those subsets also being an officially designated 3GPP "band" as well.
When you look at the specs for a given phone, the term bands is often used in the latter sense. For example, the S5 uses the same WTR1605L chip and is obstensibly a 7 band phone as well. And it is indeed limited to 7 "major" bands for lack of a better description. But the specs appear to show the S5 as supporting 16 "bands" i.e. eight LTE "bands", four 3G "bands" and four 2G "bands". And our NV edits can enable dozens more "bands" in the way that carriers refer to them.
Anyway, suffice it to say that rootSU is absolutely correct that the hardware is limited to seven "bands". And at the same time, we can still add dozens of discrete "bands" in the sense that the carriers use the term. Yeah it is confusing.

Yes you can see on the box of the D820, what would appear to be 9 bands, but they all fall within the 7
However, since we have no solid documentation, we cannot still add dozens or even 1 carrier used-term. Its closed source.
Edit > but there is no real benefit to having a d820 and a d821 if they could get everything on the same die.

Can someone tell me which bands the phone supports. There has been conflicting information and I want to know if there are different models to look out for.
According to Huawei the phone will support FDD LTE band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. However the China websites that are currently selling the phones only list band 1, 3 and 7. Is this a mistake or is this different model?
You ask Huawei?

THIS is why I'm waiting until someone figures this out. There's been a lot of discussion around this. Has anyone tried emailing Huawei and asking them?

band 1/3/7 is the only bands available in China, but when the phone is roaming(using on other carrier than CMCC, China Unicom or China Telecomm), all other bands are usable.
Not sure what you mean

Thanks, but what does that mean? You don't specify whether this will work on (as the question asked) on the AT&T US or the T-Mobile US networks for 4G and LTE capability.
If you can provide that information and backup as to where that can be found that this device is compatible and will work at 4G LTE speeds on the T-Mobile or AT&T US networks, I'd be a lot more sure about what i was getting.
Thank you though for responding.

I made a post on the main level of this thread, please go look.
Huawei's current offering of phones is NOT compatible with US 4G LTE bands, they will be releasing one soon (don't know when) that WILL be compatible.
I asked them directly and they responded from the manufacturer directly.
My suggestion, wait until they put out a US-compatible phone.
i don't know WHY none of the press bothered to point this out, useless in total if you ask me. They screamed and oohed and aahed over the device and failed to mention that the one being shown AND being produced currently is NOT compatible with the US-market. Another model that Huawei says is, will be released (no ETA).
Hi,
I bought the Huwaei honor 6 in India, Now I have moved to US.
I bought a new at and t prepaid sim card . It seems the mobile does not work with US 4G mobile networks, because it is based on bands B1 (2100MHz) /B3 (1800MHZ), B38,B3,B40 . whereas AT&T and T-Mobile use the band B2(1900MHz)/AWS(B4) for 4G LTE services..
Am getting only the 2G signal . I don't know if Huwaei is going to fix this issue in future.
Is there any other workaround for this network frequency issue?
It is an issue of AT&T not Huawei, because Huawei promised to support certain frequencies and it does so. But AT&T does not provide freq service to its customer, you with your phone bought from somewhere you wish. So I will stand with you to protest to our provider to switch the 4G frequencies to match to our phones. Hand-in-hand!
Huawei Honor 6 Frequency Issue
Yeah . We have to figure this issue . Seems no network in USA supports the frequency.

While, it seems L01/L11 models support 4G frequency 1900.
You can keep hope the CM ROM might unlock all frequencies.
Ohh .. Do you know any link where I can get Custom ROM for my model.
Is it possible to change Honor 6's frequency bands?
As I purchased the H6 via web, and in my country 4G band (850MHz) isn't supported.
Just to let you guys know, I checked related threats but none on this particular model. Thank you in advance.

Nope, it's hardware
So as y'all know, s2 and y2 is the exact model but differentiate from where it sales.
I got my y2 from India, currently back to Taiwan.
I wonder if there are any ways fore me to enable 900 MHz 2600Mhz LTE or 4G bands, as those two is what my cellular company provides. (Whereas my phone supports 850Mhz, 2100Mhz and all, but just not 900 MHz or 2600Mhz)
I have only found a thread with galaxy s5 I suppose, but I am a newbie here and I have absolutely no Idea what I should do.
Currently running Unlocked version MIUI 10, Android 9.
Btw, rooting wouldn't be a problem, just help me to get it working <3

I don't know, this works or not, usually in "miui" there is a region menu...
Does effect nothing with region select
I have faced, for some reason, the frequency of my 4G cell phone being locked in my country, when I change regions, the problem is resolved

, changing the settings obviously won't help.
