Viper4Android not woking - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello guys
im using a xperia z5 e6653 on MM 6.0.1 32.2.A.0.253 with open BL, stock firmware and kernel
i am trying to install viper audio mod without success. after flashing the last zip and installing the driver (busybox installed, of course) the driver status tells, that the driver is installed, working, using neon BUT the proccessing is disabled. none of the sound modifications are working.
can anyone tell me why?
thanks

anyone? am i the only one trying to install this mod on my device?

Try to disable sony soundenhancement or use viper4android compability mode.

Install SELinux and set it to permissive. A little bit of struggling with it and it will work.

Already tried the permissive mode also used a zip that disables any other mod (it should)

Well that's weird because it has always been working this way for me. Even right now. Just don't use the latest version of V4A since it doesn't work very well on our phones.

how exactly did you do it?

Install Viper + Drivers. Set kernel to permissive using SE Linux, that's all. I use Viper v2.3.4.0 (FX), Codename "Beautiful". This is the version that's working on our phones with Marshmallow.

Any one got this working in Nougat ? Please share which version its working as I tried a lot and was able to install but I get no sound when its processing.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Did you test it ? What is your device ? I have tried Arise mod before, just like others it gets installed and processing the sound but it gives no sound.

I have Xperia Z5 E6653, stock nougat 32.3.A.0.376 with stock patched kernel, and tried normal ARISE project before and it didn't work, but now i tried this : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120703424
and it is working very very good, sound is much much louder, so try it, but first backup your build.prop, if you want to go back to stock.
PM me the results.

Thanks
EDIT: Did you install all the add ons ? Can you get this working only viper and no add ons ?

i strongly suggest to install dolby atmos, because it will give you strong volume boost, i installed all the addons, you should too, it is easy to disable it in settings

Muffled sound after MOB30P update

After I updated my Nexus 5 with July's security patches (MOB30P), every time it plays any sound, it seems muffled. I haven't yet had time to roll back to MOB30M to confirm this as the cause, but I will later today. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I just experienced exactly the same thing. :crying: Rolled back to M and the problem goes away. It's not just muffled, it's also of considerably lower volume. I haven't had a chance to check out the headphone or bluetooth sound; maybe over the weekend.
I'm running rooted stock 6.0.1. Only mod to stock is a big hosts file. SuperSU is 2.76, installs itself in systemless mode, and my busybox is installed in the same folder as SuperSU (i.e., not in the System volume).
I have the same issue, its just on speaker, headphone is ok. The sound is muffled and low quality.
Update : I have a solution, flash Franco's Kernel over the ROM you are using & adjust sound values via Kernel Adiutor to experience amazing sounds again.

Also it can be to flash the stock kernel boot.img (3.4.0 - g6a99a02) via Fastboot from old stock build MOB30M.
It's a known bug for revision P
It's a kernel bug so either using the kernel from version M or use any third party kernel like Franco or ElementalX 6.17

Which probably breaks this: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=195104#c21
I knew about this issue from Android Police but I updated regardless.
I regret.
Any solution for a stock non-rooted user? ;(
omg, this is killing me. i can't hear rings etc when i'm working, and barely at all in a silent room. my phone isn't rooted, and i'm a tech dunce. are there any relatively straightforward links to solving this...eg, flashing the older rom? i can't have this phone acting like this.
I had same problem but after flashing this everything is fine.

I am not sure but I think you will be OK for OTA's.
If you're rooted and cool with custom kernel you can flash elementalX 6.19 or blue spark r96,its work fine with my nexus5 .. if you're non rooted or stock lover you can reflash MOB30M via fastboot or just wait for next month security patch update..regards
Nexus 5
i'm rooted
my version is actually 6.0.1. MoB30P
the sound is a ****
i would like to flash this fix
have I to flash only the boot.img ?
what are the other files, and how (if necessary) can they be used ?
0001-ASoC-compress-fix-unsigned-integer-overflow-check.patch
0002-Soc-msm-qdsp6v2-Fix-improper-param-checks.patch

Get back your sound to normal (fix for low sound after may update) STOCK ROM

Hi guys, here is a fix for low sound that Xiaomi "fixed" for us.
Magisk module https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvejynqlw5gz0l6/soundfix_test.zip?dl=0
MD5: 64D9A517EBDD77D7EACD087E1A33FF07
Thanks to KatsonWatson from 4pda
Hi,
Can you tell me if it's working for you (and where is this from)? My phone is not rooted etc., but I can't stand this new poor audio on a pair of high impedance earphones.
Is it installed like a module from zip via recovery?

Install and flash Magisk and then install the module vía Magisk interface.
Magisk Is systemless so it's safe to use.
Cant tell if this module works since i still didnt update may patch but dont be afraid to try. I used this to root and install GoogleCam, no issues so far.
Just remember to follow the instructions before installing new OTAs!!
Thanks for the help! So installing this means no more OTA for me? Because I guess that any other update that comes out will bring back the crappy sound.
BTW is Google Cam a huge improvement?

Yup, you'll need to root and ofc use magisk (because this is magisk module) and you can't do OTAs, but for the sound that our device has, it's worth it.

Magisk does not prevent OTA updates, as long as you know what you are doing.
To wit: 0. disable automatic OTA updates, 1. leave the stock recovery alone (TWRP can be booted into without flashing), 2. make sure to check "systemless hosts" in Magisk Manager if you use AdAway or similar, so that you don't ever write to your actual /system partition, 3. leave your phone oem-unlocked (it's OK, /data is encrypted anyway), 4. when an OTA update is available, follow instructions (can't post a proper URL yet, sorry) at github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/blob/master/docs/tips.md

It won't, that's what "systemless" means.

I can confirm that it works on my phone also. Thank you very much!
May I ask what files the module touches? Also, what did Xiaomi change in the May update to reduce the volume?
Thanks
You can unpack module and see what is changed.

Work for me
Work fine! I love it
When I try to install it via Magisk Manager, it says it's not a magisk module. I don't have custom recovery to preserve OTA, can't it be flashed through magisk somehow?
Can someone confirm if this is working with the last 8.1 update? They improved audio a little bit compared to 8.0 but its nothing compared to the nougat ROM

How to get Viper4Android ?

Guys, which zip should I flash to get Viper on my Stock ROM, and how to do it to ensure it gets no interference from the system's EQ ?
Also, is there a better mod?
I've tried to install viper4android and AinurDSP on stock with magisk and it's also doesn't work.

I knew it! Most Magical modules fail to get flashed on Color OS. I just use Equaliser FX and increase the low and high frequencies a bit, and it sounds somewhat better.
YouTube Vanced works.

has anyone got viper4android working through magisk??

Hi,
I have taken a step forward to unlock and root my device (7days wait time ahead)..only for viper4android and dolby effects.
I have seen some folk saying that they got bootloop after installing viper4android through magisk. Has anybody out there got succeed in installing viper4android and dolby atmos through magisk???
Please share your experience and steps to follow. If it doesnt work, then i wont unlock my device:angel:. Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.
Dolby not working fine. If you want you can try from here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...lby-digital-plus-arise-20181115-t3868192/amp/
If it gives 'remote service has stopped' error, one user said that flashing viper from android solved it.
Now, as for viper, i am on eu rom miui 12 beta 20.4.30, the viper i downloaded from magisk app seems to be working okay.
You may try.
If any error occurs you may delete the module from data/adb/modules through the twrp.

Sauron still works on Android 10? I thought it only work on 9? Or are you confused with Narsil?
Ifi you want to use Dolby first you have to make your system permissive.

I was surprised how easy it was as well. It is certainly one of the best reasons to root.
Can someone share the file with me? The Youtube link with viper is not working anymore so I was unable to get the zip. I need viper in my life. Please .
@kirschdog1 I was able to make Viper work with the following steps.
Install Viper from Magisk Repo.Reboot and open app to install drivers.
Install busybox Magisk module and reboot.
Install Audio Modification Library module and reboot.
I don't know why but installing all three at the same time didn't seem to work for me.
I am running a Pixel 4a with dec security patch, rooted with magisk beta. I used the zip linked in the following post.
I also set it from SELinux permissive to enforcing, by disabling a boot script in the magisk module.

I tried everything with magisk version and the other puhlic versions around with about every thread I found. The mentioned above I also tried. But it only worked when I switch selinux to permissive. With magisk canary 22 104
Im on most actual mai update
