Hey friends,
Now you can skip tracks with volume keys without root using Frinky Music Controller.
It was driving me insane when I had to unlock screen just to skip some tracks and I could not find any app which solves my problem smoothly so I developed one to do this .

Features
Supports almost every music player ( successfully tested over 200 music players ).
Next/Previous track using single click of volume keys.
Adjust Volume by clicking volume keys more than once.
Stop Music from your pocket using a sequence of volume keys.
Single Sleep Timer for all your music apps.
I would really appreciate some feedback ! cheers
You can download it from Google Play store. Here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=frinky.volumeKeys.music.controller&hl=en

Works very well, as developer promised, but will be better if you keep pressed the volume button to change track instead of single press to do that. It's a bit annoying at least for me hahahaha
Anyway, keep on dev. you did a great job for non rooted devices!

I would have done that if possible, but it is not possible to detect long press of volume keys in non rooted android devices . User will have to use it for atleast 2 days to master it.

Well, that just answered my question about long presses.......

Has anyone discovered a way to keep the screen on longer while on a call?
Is there any way to change this? If I missed another post on this I apologize. Thanks
You can use power manager in the Google Marketplace

One of the best 99 cent app I've ever purchased. Support the Dev, he just lost his job, and the app kicks ass.
Yeah, Power Manager has the option to a max of 2 minutes, but it has never worked for me, it always times out waaay earlier.

i use shake awake free app that causes your phone to turn back on if you move it a certain amount, you can ajust the sensitivity to howevver much you like. mine basically stays on if the phone moves at all while i am on a call
Awesome I will try these. Thanks for the responses.
Power manager doesn't change the timeout for the screen during calls. The only way to change that currently is using the shake program mentioned above. I use both programs and love both of them so when power manager doesn't help with the screen timeout during a call use it for all the other great benefits and select monitor so it can apply the different profiles (which you can customize) for all the situations.
I tired these apps they both seem to work pretty well, any ideas on how this could be done without using an app?

It has the setting for it, but obviously doesn't work:

Would it be possible to use a hardware track pad (if equipped) to simulate the same thing the iPhone/iPod touch used to do on a double click, that is bring up music controls with a volume slider, Play/Pause, Next, Previous, Song title and Artist? Sorry If this is wrong section.

That's a great idea. I'd like to know too if that's possible

If its possible I may try to develop it.

Idk if you would be able to use the track pad as it would likely just select what you have up on your screen but I think if someone coded it as a homescreen replacement and used the same workaround other devs have for other homescreen additives and let you select your homescreen in the app they make and then that be the one home press and have the music controls be the double press home... or have it as the long press on search and not have any of the home type stuff
bump.
this is a great idea.
Power Strip? I think you could do exactly what you want with the Power Strip app. Not sure if you can use trackpad click though but you can launch it from anywhere using a double-click home button, or other option, and have it overlay your music app widget on top of whatever screen you're on so you can change tracks and whatnot.

Hello
Tweaking build.prop file and adding the following :
"ro.config.hw_menu_unlockscreen=true"
To enable the menu button too unlock the phone
Did anyone try that with Nexus S ? I assume it can work
The thread is located in :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151608
Would be great to save the power button from braking up !!
Thanks
I'm pretty sure that since the nexus s has soft keys, it would only turn on if screen is on, the sgs has a hardware menu button that allows it to work and a framework that has the mod probably

This is from Samsung Vibrant tweaks .. Which doesn't have a "physical" menu button !! it also has soft keys , but the way it is listed as "menu button" makes this quite sensible !

Ohhhh Thanks alot mate...
So now the menu soft button unlocks the phone exactly like the "physical" power button ? and when the device is unlocked , does the menu button works normally in bringing the usual menues ?
Thanks
Would you provide me with this ROM link ?
..
If I understand correctly, this will only allows pressing menu button to "unlock" the screen when keyguard is showing, but pressing menu button when screen is off will do nothing, right?

Hello,
I have a small problem. My phone power button is damaged therfore pressing it is hard (works but poorly).
I need now to re-mail the power button so i can turn off screen when i need.
Can you recommend app that can do that.
I did get app named as volume powr but it seems buggy and app named buttons re-mapper seems to be also buggy.
Use Nova Launcher. It is the best Launcher out there (even better than the stock ones) and you can turn off screen by a gesture of your choice (e.g. double tap on homescreen).

Some ROMs allow eg double tap on the status bar to switch off. BatMan/SuperMan do that.
Button Mapper does exactly what you need - like you I had some issues with it, related to its occasionally not working. This was due to it being dozed by the OS (need to stop it being optimised) and by Greenify (again, exclude it). There is a Button Mapper thread in Apps & Games here in XDA, check it out. You'll get a lot of support there, the dev visits regularly.
What is your Android version and number?
In system info (in phone) shows Android 7.0

And check please ( Build Number)
Check this Mod
For me i like it sooo much.... I downloaded from 4pda
Make clock in status bar in the middle and have also power off when you press on the right side( long press open menu for: shutdown or restart or safe mode)
But make sure your Android version and build Number the same!!
Just download and install the file and make restart
PS: any promises I'm not responsible about it
And this is the link for the mod

Hey guys what's up, I have been in search of an app that will show volume levels like the old Audio Manger app would do before they discontinued it.

I have tried Audio Guru but that widget does not update as the levels change.
thanks for any help!

If you mean the volumes levels as in the volume level of ringtones, bluetooth, etc.., you should have that already. When you press the volume button up or down and the volume slider pops-up on the screen, there is a drop down button on the slider, tap it and you'll get a pop-up showing your other volume levels.

Bump:
I've been sporadically looking for a replacement as well. (Yes, I am aware of the volume slider+tap) We are talking about a widget that offers an "at a glance" display on the screen widget showing the current levels like in the OPS's 1st screenshot

I think I found a 3rd party app that has a widget like you want. Go to Playstore, do a search for "The Control Volume Widget".
