[TUT] How to safely download ROMs from huaweidevices.ru - Huawei P9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Since I haven't seen any kind of TUT like this and since I don't know which forum is suitable for this thread, because there isn't a general Huawei forum, I've decided to write it here.
We all know that huaweidevices(dot)ru is one of the biggest archives of Huawei stock ROMs, for almost all devices. But, in order to download them, many unexperienced users (like myself) have downloaded ROMs from there using their adware-filled downloader, that resulted in infecting our machines. Last night, I found a solution to download the .rar-ed ROMs directly, without any download manager, just by using your browser, and it's no big deal - quite simple.
First of all, you need to locate your device's page, using the search bar:
http://i.imgur.com/W9Odx8s.png
Then, slam down ctrl+shift+c on your keyboard to enter the Inspect element menu (I've been using Opera for the tut, it's the same shortcut for Chrome also, I don't know is it like that for other browsers):
http://i.imgur.com/82mbHTU.png
Now hit ctrl+f and enter .rar in the search bar of inspect element diagram window, then use the up/down arrows to find the desired ROM's link (it ends with .rar), right click on it, go to open link in new tab, and PROFIT.

I hope someone will find this helpful. Cheers :good:

PointUI

This program is still the beta version but it rocks. It is the alternative to the HTC Home , clauncher and ilauncher. I hope the final version is even better. Check it out. This is a video http://youtube.com/profile?user=dorothyg07 and this is the download link http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/get-pointui.html.
Man, I really like the GUI and interaction with this application. The gestures are much like the HTC Touch.
Software is QUITE buggy which you can tell it's Beta. Very difficult to remove from one's phone unless one has a 3rd party application to handle that.
Once it becomes stable, I'd apply it again!
Folks, there is all sorts of info (including uninstall instructions which are very straight forward) on this product in the general discussion forums here and at the pointui home site.
Cheers
help?
hey i want to install pointUI on my phone but i dont know how i download the file from sites but then it wont let me do anyhing with it what can i do
[email protected]
i assume you meant you were able to download it.
if its a .cab file you downloaded then put it on ur minisd/microsd card and run it through the phone
if its a .exe file you install it on your computer, and when it says so, plug the phone in w/ USB.

[Q] Update not loading

Guys,
I just became the, now rather dubious, owner of a gTablet that a colleague brought for me from the States. So far I am not that impressed. Several apps that supposed to be on there, aren't (no Kindle app out of the box, and no gMarket, despite what the manual says).
SO, I try the announced update procedure: fails.
First time fails at 8%. Second time fails at 13%, third time fails at 28%, fourth time fails at 4%. Is this a joke of some sort? Also the download is rather slow, as in, they use smoke signals to get the message across!
Does anyone have the update as a file that I can run as an apk perhaps?
I also have to point out that the GUI rather sucks. The settings menu misses about 50% of the Android 2.2 options (I have a HTC desire. Waaaay more settings options...)
After my complaints, lets get to figuring this out.
1) Can someone point me to the update pack if it is available for download via my Mac and can be installed using that ES explorer program it has installed?
2) Does the update provide Google Market or the original weblink? Does it use a different gui or still the same simpleton gui?
3) if not, is there a simple ROM flash I can do that gives me a different GUI and google Market?
I have flashed my HTC Hero before, which was not a big deal. However, I want things done simple, so if there is a good ROM with a nice GUI and simple instructions for a noob (I got two left hands when it comes to this sort of stuff), and Google Market, I would gladly see a link.
Any support will be very welcome!

Forget about the stock update and read about TNT lite or the vegan beta Rom if you feel experimental. You can get market flash and pretty much all the Google goodies.

A good start would be the following guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
Understand that there are newer versions of the rom referenced, also there's VEGAn, a rom based on the Vega.
The Gtab stock needs a lot of help but it is a very good product with a little TLC and some grunt work:
Different devices/users different opinions. I am more than satisfied with the performance and feel of my Gtab without flashing a different ROM and what I did was follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
I used root explorer instead of AndRootFile
Then I changed my launcher to ADW.Launcher
Side load flash (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
Do the market fix to get all market (Instructions/.apk on XDA-developers)
add titanium backup
add ROMManager
Note: When I applied the latest update from Viewsonic (fixed the video driver, now AngryBirds, etc working) I had to re-root the device but everything else works fine.
Even fixed the issue with Gtab not seeing Ad-hoc network from phone (Instructions can be found on internet). Now my Gtab rocks, connects to my home Wifi or if not available connects to my Phone Wifi.
I can still launch the default tapNtap if I want to and Viewsonic upgrades apply fine. I had an issue with update also....Support had me set the sleep to "off" and then it worked fine, however the update image was posted on XDA-developer:
Bobtran,
Interesting perspective. Could you run Quadrant and show us what that score is?
I have had TnT up to 2.2 then swithed to VEGAn beta3 now. Q =2411
Most everything runs very very fast...
All, Thanks for the suggestions and the useful links . I might be flashing mine this weekend.
As for which ROM to use, what are the pros and cons for one over another? E.g. if I were to take the TnT ROM (I think it's at 2.4.1 now?), how does that fare against, say, the Vegan Beta4 (I think the latest is beta4 from what I read on some posts)
Bobtran, did you have a link for the update image? seemed like you were going to post it, but got cut short...
Guys,
I am trying to install Clockwork Mod v08 as per one of the links. First issue is that the tablet won't mount the SDcard to my desktop. SHouldn't be a big issue as I can coy/paste the required files from the internal storage to the SDcard via ESexplorer (standard installed on the gTablet).
However, how do I know it installed correctly? I don't see a new app and the boot install goes very fast. There is an opened box with an arrow pointing down and a load bar that seems to have green hashed filling, as if it's preparing to install. Then suddenly the splash screen pops up. The box with arrow and progress bar are there for a second or so, maybe 2. Seems rather quick. Is this correct?
EDIT: I wanted to say the boot screen didn't come up when starting up with vol+ and pwr, but just noticed, it does... so should be ok
well, seems I have been successful in flashing the new ROM (TnT 2.4.0) using CWM-v08.
Question though, the instructions in the TnT installation guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245) seem to say that the market fix only is a partial fix (note that the comment applies to TnT2.2).
Now that I installed the TnT2.4.0 ROM, I was wondering if the market fix is also only partial for TnT2.4. If yes, can I run the patch at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
and if yes, would that give me full Market access? If not, what's involved in getting full Market access?
As a side question that may not belong here but wouldn't be answered in the appropriate forum section: I have an XT701 phone that needs a Market Fix. Would the fix at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827209
also provide my phone with the Market? Just a side question, if no answer, that's fine...

Unfortunately I flashed to TnT lite yesterday so can't do that anymore without starting from scratch. Just testing the waters so to speak.

For the market fix, just see the link that I have in my first post, in the TnT Lite thread. That fix could also work on other devices. It's the same fix in the link you just posted.

Firefox 4 apk direct d/l location

ftp[DOT]mozilla[DOT]org/pub/mozilla[DOT]org/mobile/releases/4[DOT]0/android-r7/
Posting it here because it wasn't showing up in the market (TnT Lite - and not sure it was supposed to) and I was unable to d/l the apk from the 'getfirefox' site (kept giving me a market:// link which didn't work on my tab and was, as expected, useless on a desktop).
Did a little searching, found the location, thought I might be able to save someone else the bother.
I have not found time to install/test (and Dolphin pretty much satisfies my needs, so this was more of a 'curiosity' thing).
THank you Bob!

It's on the market, if you follow the latest fix ... but i think it's not supported FLASH ... grrr
Read the post I made here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12716589&postcount=11
I mention Firefox is only visible BEFORE you apply the market fix.
However, as someone previously mentioned, if you apply the latest market fix, you'll get just about everything, including firefox and flash. Search forums for 'tegra market'.

[Q] Trekstor Surftab Breeze 7 ROM recovery

I am looking for a rom to save my original tablet
Trekstor Surftab Breeze 7
For:
android system recovery <3é>
Please help me
Moved to General Q&A. Please note that "best ROM" threads are not allowed, so the only type of discussion permitted regarding looking for a ROM would be locating a ROM, not discussing which is best.
i'm on it..please observe the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005555
Trekstor SurfTab Breeze 7.0 Tweaks and Firmware
Hi Guys,
i just wanted to post my efforts tweaking my Trekstor SurfTab Breeze 7.0 (in my opinion it's definately worth the money). Instead of just loading up a custom system image, i decided to post all the steps it took to get a quite snappy device (allthough it's not like a nexus 7 or iPad mini of course - but they don't cost around 70 euro):
1.) Get root rights. I used the solution from "unlockroot"-website in combination with a windows 8 System to unlock the device with one click (no coding needed!). This does not directly improve speed in general usage but enables some further tweaks.
2.) Deactivate apps. Navigate to settings->apps and then click on the app symbol. When able, click the "uninstall"-Button. Otherwise use the "deactivate"-Button to shut down the system apps. The more apps you disable / uninstall, the more recources are left for usage.
3.) Install the App "Android Assistant(18 features)" from market. In my case, this one ended some background processes in the system which did use up much of the cpu-power before. Unfortunately i was not able to identify those processes but the app solved the problem anyway.
4.) Use a static IP when the wifi connection seems to be slower than it should be. This is a known issue with DHCP in some Android 4.0.4 systems. Maybe in some cases it is the other way around (use DHCP instead of static IP), so just play with those two options to find the best soultion for yourself. Change the values by settings->wifi->"your wifi"
5.) Enable USB-Debugging. settings->developer options->USB-Debugging
The following steps require root privileges:
6.) Install the app "Seeder" from market. This one reduces some lags, including the wake-up-time in Standby (some msec).
7.) Install the app "AdAway" or any other ad-blocker (e.g. use opensource-market "f-droid") as it can block in-app-ads as well as some browser ads.
8.) Get a fast browser. I first took "easybrowser" from playstore-market, which did a good job but seems not to be very serious as the comments in playstore suggest. Therefore i changed to "lightning"-browser, which is serious opensource-software and very fast, too. I have to mention that i tested android stock browser, firefox, chrome, opera mobile, opera mini and opera beta before. Unfortunately they are not designed for a device with such poor hardware. The "lightning"-browser does a very good job when it comes to quickly look things up in the web. Watching Streams is not quite fun (but it works!), i suggest to use another solution for this kind of tasks (youtube, crunchyroll, zattoo, ...).
9.) Use an App like "Clean Master" to clean up data that has been left after deinstallation of apps. As the internal storage ist very small, every bit of free space can be useful.
After all those Tweaks i currently have a really snappy device compared to when i first unpacked the SurfTab.
If anyone kills his ROM by tweaking too much (e.g. black bootscreen) he will find an unofficial firmware offered from TrekStor at h t t p : //into-trekstor.de/fw/surftab (username/password: guest) which can easily be flashed by following the pdf-instructions.
I hope this post can help those who are basically "end-users" without coding ambitions (like me ;D)
Greetz,
T.K.
hey man! HOW did you get to root this? ive tried MANY unlockers/rooters. but none have made it:S you just wrote
Get root rights. I used the solution from "unlockroot"-website in combination
What site? THANSK!!! I really need to speed up this sloooooooooow tablet=)
username/password from site, doesn't work anymor what's up with that?

[Q] Same app, different task, multitasking

Before anyone points out that there are existing threads about this (because I feel certain there are), I am not a noob, I've used XDA for years and this is one of my first posts because I normally find everything (and more) than what I need.
Half of this question is, how can I search this better because it's such an awkward thing to search.
How to with the same app, run two instances ("windows"), being able to switch through them via multitasking.
The Android system is easily capable of doing it (open the youtube app, play a video, then open the browser and click a youtube link and tell it to open via the youtube app, and voila; its running two instances of the same app even though it is unstable and kinda annoying sometimes) and I am very confident that there is no way to do this (other than the buggy way I just mentioned) with un-modified android.
But the XDA community is awesome and I have more confidence that others have had my problem since early android days, and have done something about it. However because I'm not aware of a real name for the process, I'm not really sure what to search. The only related article/thread I have been able to find is this. But it's extremely old and not helpful with no solution suggested.
Please share anything you know regarding this process and how to fix it or why it can or can't be done. HOWEVER please refrain from simply restating that an un-modified android platform can't do it (people kept doing that in the thread I mentioned above).
I'm hoping that there is already a thread about it that I just can't find, in which case please tell me and this post can be deleted.
In the extremely unlikely case that no one has created any sort of makeshift fix, hopefully someone will begin.
WHY this is important (for those that ask why this is worth trying to fix) ;
One instance of my problem (because there are many, and I'm sure others have similar problems); I have google drive open, I have an article I need to read uploaded by a fellow classmate and an article I need to write. Easy, on chrome I open one window with their doc. And another with mine. However on Android it's all one app meaning I am constantly having to read his doc. then back out of it, go back to my drive, go down my extremely long hierarchy of folders find my doc. load it, type something before I forget it, then back out of it, go back to the shared folder, good down its hierarchy of folders, find his doc. and wait for it to load, then try to find where I left off. Annoying, slow, inefficient.
Current- Nexus 5 Hammerhead with 4.4.2 Cataclysm and Elemental X kernel
