Coming from an HTC 10 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

So, I'm thinking about coming back to samsung. I was with sprint for a long time, switched to t-mobile and got an unlocked htc 10, nothing but problems. I'm getting it replaced for the 3rd time. It's going up for sale as soon as I get it. I got the s7 on release day, returned it because of the locked bootloader, but it looks like it's rootable now and that's all I really need. So I'll probably be seeing you guys in the forums. Just wanted to say hey.

Can a mod please move this to general discussion? I posted in the wrong section. Sorry.

[Q]

I posted this last night, but I think I put it in the wrong sub-forum. I can't find a way to delete that post, but I'll keep trying
I had a rooted Aria on AT&T, but it got stolen yesterday. I've already got my insurance replacement on the way.
From what I've read, there's a good chance that my replacement will have the AT&T 2.2 update which prevents it from being rooted. I'm pretty much addicted to using Swype and a couple of other non-market apps, so that's a big problem.
So, since it might be unrootable and because of the small screen size, I'm considering selling my replacement and buying something else. I have to stay with AT&T, so I've glanced at the Captivate and the Inspire.
How would your rate these phones vs the Aria for:
1. Rooting
2. Screen visibility
3. Battery life/speed/performance
Any other thoughts are also welcome.
Also - I had one or two purchased apps on my phone. Is there any way to get those back?

Best way to sell my cappy?

I recently bought a galaxy s2, so I'm going to be selling my captivate soon. I plan on selling it on ebay and was wondering the best way to get get the most value out of it. Should I flash back to stock or put an good rom on it? should I have it rooted? I know there a way better roms than stock but I wonder if some people will prefer a stock phone rather than one that has been modified. Any suggestions?

I know it's not the same situation, but I recently sold a nook color rooted with CM7 (on Craigslist). I got multiple responds within an hour of posting. Everyone who contacted me was looking specifically for rooted and the ability to do custom ROMs. I would imagine there are plenty of people who are looking for rooted and custom rom phones.
However, be careful on how you word your item. I know both eBay and Craigslist will remove your posting if they can detect that you're selling a device with custom ROMs on it. My first posting on Craigslist was removed and I had to reword it.

Broaden your customer base by Sim Unlocking it. That way not just AT&T users can buy it.
Hey, brentett, please update the thread once you've sold with how it went I've also got an GS2 i777 on its way and am thinking about selling my cappy

Same here.. I had posted my cappy on craigslist the day i got my gs2, noted that it had 4.0.3 on it... no replies in a week. so i removed the listing, and flashed it back to stock and stuck it in the gs2 box (got it out to flash official gingerbread, then put it back in box)

I'm not really following what exactly you did?
Go back to stock....and as stated, sim unlock it. That gives you the widest audience.
I posted mine on CL and offered to return to stock or flash any ROM.
Sold it a few months ago for around $160.
I listed mine on CL with ics and had a buyer with in a day at $150.

[Q] What should I expect root wise (2.20)

So I'm asking for opinions here.
I just bought moved from sprint to ATT, and since I loved my evo LTE on sprint, I picked up the HOX on ATT. Literally bought the phone, came home, and immediately pulled up XDA to see how to root it, only to be severely disappointed after reading about the 2.20 news.
So I have 14 days to take it back and exchange it for another one. I don't mind waiting a few months for root if that's what it'll be, but if it'll never be rooted, I don't want to be stuck with it.
So what are your opinions? Should I return it for something else? or wait it out?
Nobody knows. Opinions are opinions. I'd return it and try to get an older one somewhere else.

at this point. i would return it. until after the jb release on hox or until the hox+ comes out.
if you could get one with 1.85 on it i would take it though.
If you can, return it and try again. But it won't be unrootable, it will get rooted eventually.

New One S Owner, Where do I start

Hi Folks
Just traded my sXL in for a One s (HTC seemed to have abandoned the XL and didnt like the camera). Its Unlocked and open EU still on 403, still charging it. Ive had an OTA warning saying 404 sense 4.1, but it comes with something by EAGames. As much as I cannot stand EA and their bloatware corporate BS, is this ok or should I install one of the ROMs from here. Im not a big custom ROM person and was wanting to stay on Stock.
Any advice on where to start
Night.

Any progress at all with this Boot loader lock mess

I long since left the s7 thread and sold mine but if I had a smidgen of a thought that there was any progress on this unlock/root id buy another .And in already know the international s7 has this but that's not the point ...
Haven't seen any Google search recent updates nothing on XDA .Every thing talked about is back in March ....No new topics
is it safe to say it isn't going to happen if it does it will be toward the end of the phones life span?

Nothing.. Saw something regarding CSC files last week.. and still nothing today.. My deadline to go back to the Note 4 is Thursday. Crossing my fingers I dont have to give up this S7 and my VR Gear(not sure if it will work with the Note 4).. Depression for me is approaching fast.. smh
Nothing so far might be another while who knows I'm loosing hope as well was looking towards to upgrade to the note 6 but I feel it's going to be the same thing which sucks a lot! The whole s7 community should just msg T-Mobile or samsung at the same time just to catch their attention it's a place to start imo

It is going to be that way for the note 6 and any T-Mobile device that updates to marshmallow.. Soon as s6 gets 6.0 I bet it locks bootloader. It's the new era .. I believe Nexus is going to go viral when HTC builds the next one making it the go to device for T-Mobile users .
You can always buy a international s7 they have root and I'm betting we can get T-Mobile firmware to flash with wifi calling as a baked in feature
