Mango WiFi shortcut app ?

I know it may sound a little silly, but some time ago, some great xda user made wifi shortcut app.
Personally i thought it was one of most awesome and usefull app made on that phone (i just think that going trough settings is kinda retarded on that kind of high end smartphone). The main problem is that after mango update this app stopped working, and now im sad ..
Anyway is there any dev that could make such a usefull piece of software ?

I was hoping for the same thing. I've been keeping open under multitasking for the time being.

Yes, thats what i meant, must have for mango in my opionion, to be honest i cant believe that microsoft didnt allow users to pin that to start screen

they have wifi, flight mode, sim settings, & bluetooth shortcuts that work with Mango
they also have connection manager app that include all of them + GPRS data on/off too
I have asked them for a GPRS data on/off stand-alone shortcut

I too find hard to believe that these connectivity settings are not handy as in Android. Unfortunately the ones of ahmed's link are just for Samsungs.
Hopefully somebody here can "fix 'em" for HTCs and LGs

Questions on Data 3G/2G

My cousin is looking for a smartphone and wish not to use data (3G, 2G).
He asked me for a recommendation and I was thinking about Nexus S.
Since I've only used smartphone as PDA/MP3 player, I don't really know how Nexus S handles data.
I've had tried a Nexus One before, and even with Data-3G turned off, the phone still used 2G sometimes.

You should be able to just turn off the mobile network in wireless settings.

You don't have to turn 3G off just turn off the phones ability to use data connection. Then the phone won't use any data connection via the mobile network.

That's what I did when I was trying out the Nexus One.
But somehow, it managed to use data (through 2G) as I'm sure I had mobile data (3G) turned off.
And there's no way to turn off 2G afaik.
Edit: In other words, is the same thing gonna happen on Nexus S?
Can someone kind enough please try to have data turned off overnight and see if any data was used?

No data is used when data is turned off. Been traveling over the holidays and only turned it on when i needed it. When it was turned off all the data. Meters said 0.
3G and 2G is just the 2 different technologies / frequencies that tje phone use.

[Q]Mobile network problem during searching carrier.

Hello i didn't find anywhere similar problem. I have N5, rooted and with stock rom & kernel, i have a problem with mobile network. In my country there is a network "Play" and it is using own transmitters or from other networks and it is working as roaming network. When i want to find other compatible carriers from menu (manual mode) searching took so much time, more than few minutes. There is a sollution for this? Or fix?
Same situation when i switch from 2G to LTE mode - same results.

I don't think you can just switch carriers from the network menu. You need their sim card to use them. "Roaming" is usually just automatic, if you have it enabled in setting.
You don't click on different carriers to roam. At least I've never heard of that. To use a carrier, you need their sim and APN settings.
Call your carrier and ask about it. They should know exactly how it should work.

In my country carrier "Play" allow to use other networks. I mean a problem when i want to find other carriers

Then took so much time to find other networks.
I can connect with all of them (only orange not working cause was for testing)
Just want to know why looking for other networks take so much time.

Sorry, never heard of it....so can't guess why.
It probably falls under the" it is what it is" category.

After 5.1 update no data on SIM2 ?

What a nice surprise when the OTA 5.1 update showed up on my good old moto g
I noticed that now, it's possible to enable data on SIM1 and on SIM2 at the same time. Previously you had to chose between one or the other.
Of course I have data plan on both sim's.
Now comes the problem : no matter in which combination I set the data settings, i'm only able to get data on the SIM inserted in slot 1.
Slot 2 is NOT working anymore for data.
Before, I just had to enable data on one or on the other and it was perfectly working.
Is someone experiencing the same issue ?

If the problem still persists try to factory reset. BE AWARE all the internal data will be lost if you factory reset.

I to have the same problem, at first it worked for both the sims after update and 2 days later it stopped working. I am now uable to use data from simslot 2. There another issue to, I am unable to switch 3gto2g option for both the sims, even when the data is off. Please help me with it which I got after 5.1 update. Thank you.

5g and Volte/ vowifi

hi everyone,
so i have had working 5g and volte/ vowifi for a while but last week i changed to euro build as someone said it would be better for australian network. anyway i have lost everything. i called optus ( carrer and they did a reset and made sure everything is enabled on their end.) i have flashed global back and still no luck. i have made sure everything is enabled via pdc and qualcomm applications. does anyone have any ideas?

Hello!
First of all i would check that you have VoLTE enabled both in settings and in EngineerMode menu.
Also check that network type set to smth like NR/LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA and reboot phone.
If after reboot volte and 5G still don't work for you, you'll have to use QPST and PDC, to check what carrier profile is active in your phone now. It happens sometimes, that after firmware update, it resets to default or that, which not fully supported in your country.
As of your screenshot, it clearly says you have Telefonica_UK_Commercial profile active on both slots (sims).
If it is not the right profile for your current country/carrier, you'll need to deactivate it by choosing deactivate on sub0/sub1
and then choose the right profile for your carrier from the list, choose activate it on sub0/sub1, press activate button at the bottom of screenshot, swith off and switch on your phone (not reboot, because sometimes settings and not applied on reboots).
P.S: If you don't happen to find your carrier on the list, it's not a big issue. You can choose and enable the one that is available in your country with VoLTE (and 5G services), in many cases it will work too.

Where do I learn how to use this PDC tool. Does it require root? I have rooted and can do ADB.
