Just trying to root. Everything went fine until I loaded Superuser. Now, upon reboot, I get the Samsung logo, then the Virgin mobile animation, but it hangs there. I can get into TWRP, I can get into DL mode. Not sure what to try next.
I was reading to maybe flash the stock tar? Should I do that before I go and try custom?

Don't panic, happens all the time
Just take a logcat and post it up here..
As the user above me said, don't flash stock recovery, it would most probably be flashing a stock firmware

You need to find the device version for your stock recovery. In theory it will work, but since I only own j700p that method fixed my bootloop back then for only constantly booting back to TWRP. They recently fixed that error for ours with rebooting in the TWRP program.

download the original 6.0 firmware of the j7 and flash it with the help of odin
First flash the original firmware of j700f download it from sam mobiles website, the again install the twrp file as flashing firmware remove it. Then download the super su file from the given link and only download if u have j700f or otherwise it might brick again

If you are facing problems with v6.0.3.2, download tar file of CWM v4.0.0.2 from here and try flashing it.
by flashing CWM you are flashing custom recovery and doing so will not root your phone!
you need to flash superuser.zip or flash ardatdat's kernel to root.

Hi there I was trying to update to kitkat my tab via ODIN after some research i found a room that it said it would work with N8000. Someone asked if it would work with the N8010 and they said yes. So I tried It wasnt my first time flashing a room so I did the usual go into download mode bla bla bla. I start the process and after a while odin says its finished but the tab is still in the "download please do not turn off target" screen. So I give it a while longer, it´s still in that screen so I reboot it and nothing happens the tab turns off and turns on on its self and goes back to that screen. I can´t go into recovery. I just can go into Download Mode ( Now in the model it says N8000) too bad It seams it didn´t work on the N8010. So I tryied to flash a stock room for my tab and odin fails

Do you have any ideas?
The odin always fails I think maybe the bootloader is for the N8000 and that device has a home button so thats why i cant get into recovery maybe but no idea why odin still fails the instalation.
thanks in advance and please help me with some Ideas.
------ SOLVED ---------
The solution was download pit for N8010, donwload 4.0.4 for N8010.
Then set the odin to repartiino set the pit file then the room and flash both at the same time... i had to do it 2 times... maybe out of baterry i don´t know.
Then I unchecked repartition and flashed only the room and set bootloader update. I had to do that 5 times every time the progress bar would go a little further.
Last time I used Odin for my Note 10.1 it was Odin3 v1.85. Try to use that version and not a v3 ???
NEVER NEVER flash a rom 8000 on a 8010, I had big issue also
You are not alone.
You have two options :
- Flash an 4.4.2 stock firmware (n8000, no n8010 out yet)
- Flash a 4.0.4 stock firmware (n8010) and you will get OTA updates to 4.1.2 (not the last one i think) but you will still have the n8000 bootloader
Mine also apears as an n8000 in download mode (i have n8010), we are stuck with the n8000 bootloader for now, I hope that the realease of the n8010 4.4.2 will fix this issue.
I tried that

Just upgrade to latest modem and bootloader for your model via odin. Also flash TWRP. Install a custom rom and you should be ok

Ok so after flashing the modem and the bootloader I'll be able to transfer the custom rom to the memory phone? or how do I do it
Thanks all of you guys for your help
I think I am in the same boot, I've tried flashing the stock rom at least 8 times with no luck even it says it passed, I even flashed modem and bootloader with with stock rom,
I don't have the files anymore. But what I had to do was this:
Download the latest Stock from Sammobile for your phone. Make sure it's the latest, that will give you the latest Modem and Bootloader.
With Odin (right click and Run as superuser), flash the Stock.
Also then Flash TWRP.
I would search in Youtube, I think I had found videos of people doing what I'm suggesting. Hope you can fix it!

I downloade the latest firmware but can't flash it because asks for the PIT file, no idea really.

Although it IS NOT recommended to use pit files, give it a shot. If your phone is already kinda bricked then you won't loose anything at the trying!
I recommend this firmware and that pit
I'm not responsible your your device is completely destroyed after this. At the odin don't use re-partition

Hey guys, I got my Galaxy S6 SM-G920I a few weeks ago and I've enjoyed everything about it, but as usual I have the need to try custom ROMs .
Anyway as usual I don't do lot of research (I'm stupid I guess), so first I flash CF-Auto-Root via Odin and... surprise phone is stuck on boot logo, so I don't panic too much , I install TWRP via Odin and everything is ok, then I download a stock firmware 3483.1 MB and try to flash it via odin but oh surprise, it fails, on the phone screen say and on odin
so right now I'm pretty desperate, I'm searching but I can't find a solution , I have hope that this has a solution so I will love you so much if you can help me.
It's a SM-G920I

Hi mate
What firmware is installed , what about the recovery , how does it look like?
Install an app like PhoneInfo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=es
It will give you all information need , Imei , processor type ...if is original
flash with odin latest firmware available for your model, if problem won't be solved this way check in settings, about baseband version, if unknown it means you may have some hardware issues

@r4d0n7 have you verified hash of md5 to be sure it didn't get corrupted during download.. you could try removing the ".md5" so it's just a ".tar" an extract with winrar or 7zip to see if any errors occur you can try flashing without the ".md5" also just flash the tar file otherwise it could be corrupted make sure you download from a reliable source.. use a download manager also. Maybe your partitions got jacked up over time and there not matching when verifying may have to flash a .pit file also

Well, I tried what you said so: renaming the .md5 into .tar or just removing the .md5 and letting only .tar. Still I get the same result and on my downloading mode console in my phone I'm getting: SECURE CHECK FAIL: (BOOTLOADER) I tried different firmwares to download... Same result. I tried flashing a custom recovery and it works. This means it's not anything from the drivers.

I downloaded the last .tar version from samsung-firmwares.org for j710fn but still no fix... I'm sure it may be from my partitions. If it is, then tell me how can i fix them up?
That's not good I'm sure it means it failed to verify using pit, when you have phone plugged in USB and on download mode go to your device manager screen in windows and check that your name of phone shows up correct, flashing a rom not ment for your device could of caused this by experience
---------- Post added at 10:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 AM ----------
Try loading the firmware in all 4 slots of Odin and flashing, you could always extract the tar and make the 4 file flash seems to work a lot also you can get your PIT from twrp by typing in twrp terminal
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/out.pit bs=8 count=580 skip=2176
flash with stock rom if it throws an error about ext4 you'll have to get a PIT from someone with same device an storage capacity

Well, I saw different baseband versions for each firmware. I don't know how can I find my baseband version if my OS is wiped and can't check whatever information needed for it so I can get the correct firmware for it.

nope he downloaded the j710fn firmware from sammobile and samshung has 2 models named j710fn like on8 and j7 2016 so the firmwares are mixed on sammobie an the on8 firmware says cm.bin fail on j7 2016
and updato.co firmware works on j7 2016 so firmware is the issue
i also hadthat issue i too hav j7 2016
Well, thank you everybody for trying to help me out but I already got a custom rom in which works with the phone really nice, and sorry for bumping the topic.
