Best Xperia Z5 custom ROM for my needs - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
there are a lot of great custom ROMs available for our Z5.
Because of the huge number of ROMs and Kernels I lost the overview...
So I need your help to find the best ROM guys.
My needs (descending from most important)
- best battery life
- camera at 100%
- sony camera app (because I love it)
- fingerprint sensor needs to work
- of course root etc.
I don't play any games, so performance isn't totally important...
At the moment I'm on XPower 3.0 which is good, but the battery life isn't the best.
Xda pro's please help me
Regards,
Mick

Is drm fix included? So, will x Reality, camera denoise etc work with the included sony stock cam app on LLJY Rom or Pandemic one?

Those files should be exactly the same as the stock roms, if not worst.
CM haven't changed anything yet when it comes to the camera quality.
Okay , damn, i really want to improve our camera to how good the camera quality is in froyo , also as you have cynogeMod installed on your phone , have you seen any difference in the quality of photos: between Gingerbread roms (aka Thai03D& Acura) and CynogenMod??

I would say that the camera app is better in cyanogenmod. The focusing. other than that, I can't see a big difference.
Our camera hardware isn't really the best compared to the SGS2.

Best NO Sense ROM

Hi guys,
I tried so far many ROMS with different version of Sense (ARHD, InsertCoin, Viper). All are good but after some time the interaction looks a little laggy and the applications are starting with some lag.
So I want to try a ROM without Sense and I need your help.
What is the Best ROM without Sense ?
Please keep in mind that I need all HW functions to work all the time (WiFi, WiFi Tether, BT, Camera, etc) and I need to be able to use a mail.apk modified to disable the security requirements and beside performance I would need some decent battery too.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Try badosp from.

CM9
nothing beats original AOKP
there are a few modified AOKP ROMs in the dev section
+1 AOKP all the way
but if you want something more stock without all the tweaks and stuff, CM9 is the way to go
The camera doesn't work for everything. Barcode scanners fail really hard with AOSP ICS, but seem to run better with AOSP JB, but you lose the front camera.
Kinda like aokp lately...
Ok, you better post links, because there are a lot of variations of AOSP and AOKP. Anyway I just want to mention that I want everything to work perfectly: both cameras, BT, WiFi, etc. So please suggest only ROMS that are known to be fully operational for daily heavy use.
Thanks again.
CM9 for sure! It's by far the fastest I've seen.

If I remember correctly, victorious does have some widgets that your speaking of .it was the first Rom I ever ran so I can't really remember but I believe so. Also it had the BEST battery life of ANY Rom I've ever ran. I think you will really like that! I got to missing sense so I changed roms but its ultra stable and I think you will love it! I sure miss that great battery life it gave me! I'm running sense 4 now, I do love it but nothing compares to V.I , battery life in my opinion! Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Please just try the dammed ROMs yourself. with nandroid backups you can easily revert back. Then you can choose one that most closely delivers "what you want".
If you want everything that's in Stock just use a Stock RUU. All custom ROMs have failings somewhere in the frame and will probably have updates on a regular basis to "iron" out minor issues.
I'm currently using CM10 Beta Jelly Bean, it has enough working to make it my daily. Previously I was using Virtuous Inquisition and it was very good, Sense back-end with almost all apps and widgets replaced by AOSP variants. IIRC it used the Sense ICS camera which is better than the pure AOSP ones.

[Q] which rom has the best camera quality?

Hi All,
I need a little help from the community. In the past I've flashed a lot of ROMs for fun, and because I was searching for the best available camera or photo quality.
Unfortunately nowadays I don't have the time for this so I'm a little 'outdated'.
Can you flash-o-holic people here share your latest experience with me regarding to this matter?
Should I still look for sense ROMs?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Why worry? If the camera on the ROM is no good, just download a good one from the App store.

Plus, we all have the same sensor (very poor) so it isn't much a matter of app, but how good are you in setting the right parameters into the app.

Sure we have but I noticed differences in quality even with 3rd party apps. Sense ROMs IMHO always have better quality than e.g. CM ROMs and I just wanted know if this tendency changed or not.
sense 3.5 roms have worse camera quality than sense 3.0 or 3.6 roms

LG G3 AOSP Camera quality solution

Hi everybody,
A lot of people buy that model because of camera quality, a lot of us like AOSP based roms. But the camera lost quality because of LG framework issue. I tryed i lot of camera programs, but results are worst. Only the apk LG camera for AOSP (for LG2) get very good quality, and i compared to stock LG G3 camera. But that apk not give any settings, also flash setings on CM12 based roms. I am sure it is big issue for all of us. If simebody can recommend some solution, will be great!
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
Hi, same for me. I only hope some dev can give it a try and solve this issue... Fix the G2 apk could be a nice start ! At least fix the settungs like you said.
Btw, give a try to resurrection remix rom, cause the camera quality is very nice. I'm on it since the beginnig and recording is so far better than the others, smooth and fast. It's probably between stock LG camera and XCam
i Think its a Driver Problem
Camera quality cant be solved yet.I read somewhere that devs are trying to improve but i think that quality wont even get close to stock .
Hope for the best
Jishnu's Camera f40
Jishnu's Camera f40 give perfect quality, i compared to stock LG Camera on stock firmware, and no difinerenses. But settings works not properly. And problem with size of camera monitoring on display, but size of pictures are right. I tryed on Resurrection Lollipop v5.2.5 and 5.0.2 Euphoria-OS 1.0. I think some little tuning of mod and we can get best present to ney year.

i remember his work for G2. i hope someone could pick this up where he leaved!
i think many of us would honor this and donate for a aosp quality cam solution!
Jishnu's Camera the MOD for the Stock anyone has some news about it? for the Lollipop
Maybe it's possible to port the LG framework to aosp or just the libs it require to make the camera works. I remember the folks at miui used to make a ton based on the stock one so all the things works fine. So if we could make a port of cm inside the stock or the other we could make it work.
I am also thought about that. I hope one of developers will give us good solution. I am sure a lot of us will donate for that issue.

This wouldn't work for me. It mounts and installed into /system/app, but I noticed in Illusion, that folder is filled with folders, unlike in older versions of android. I also tried manually installing the APK into the same folder as the original camera app, removing it and correcting permissions, but no go.

You have to flash it through recovery. That works, but it's not otimized for the QHD screen yet, and it only registers as 8 megapixels

Should I buy Idol 3?

Hey guys, I'm planning to buy this phone because I found a great deal and I really love the phone after watching reviews. But I'd like to have some advice. What are your experiences with the device? My main concerns are display, camera and battery. Also, I noticed It doesn't have much support from devs, which is very important to me. I saw there's a cm12 ROM. How does it work? Is it smooth? Bugs? Also any chance of getting cm13?
Thank you guys, I'd really appreciate some help!!

This is my honest opinion coming from a Nexus 6 (RIP)
This phone is actually not bad, battery life is good, camera is good to me in good lighting.
Display is excellent in my opinion.
One, two or three Roms is better than none.
CM is pretty stable and smooth for daily use, just make sure you follow the install instructions.
But just like any Roms out there, there's always gonna be bugs lol
There will be Cm13 as soon a few minor bugs has been fix.
No need to move on quick without taking care of those first that way we'll have a better experience on Marshmallow
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply. I think the hardware is ok, I come from a Galaxy S3 so I don't expect too much from it. What I really love is the processor and RAM. But the most important to me is being able to run cyanogenmod. So there is no limitation in terms of rom development? Lack of sources or something? And by bugs I meant important bugs like nfc not working etc.
Thank you again!!

Well,sources arent a problem!
And the current bug is the fact that the phone isnt "reversible" anymore on CM(only one side-the upper one-can be used for calls),and that the dual sim variant has to settle with using only one sim(for now).
As for the roms, there are CM,Vanir and AICP,and I am working on bringing even more roms.
But I suggest buying this device only if you are planning on buying the 5.5 inch variant, and not the 4.7 inch one.
I am glad roms work without major issues. I'd even try to build some if it's not too difficult for me(I'm a begginer dev). And yeah, I bought the 5.5 variant, waiting for it to arrive. I think the phone is great, the only downside I find is the video recording. Anyway I don't use that too much.
i got 6039
display, speakers, sound on headphones, performance, call sound quality - verry good
camera is good on sunny days. indoors hdr a little help. but there is one small fault - volume microphone. its too quiet from videos or dictaphone . does not apply to calls.
Screen resolution, speakers and ease of use is great on this device.
Can be a little laggy, but not too bad. For $200, it's a great deal for the money. It's no Samsung G6 or an iPhone 6, but it'll hang with all the other mid range phones.
Just be sure to be careful of the glass screen, is vulnerable to crack and a repair will set you back $100 unless you can fix it yourself.
I can only recommended it if you plan to install CM or other custom ROM. Stock ROM lags. Make sure you also flash the camera MOD from @Androidcid. Phone has band 12 but not sure that it works when used on T-Mobile.

I don't know is it just the 5.5" variant, but I've seen few devices running on the same SoC and they stutter way more than my 4,7" variant on the SD 410. So if you already unsure if you should get one,get the smaller one. The display is good, the sound is amazing and the camera is meh, it gets the job done. As for the battery, I usually get 4h and 30min SOT,when it hits under 20% .
Thank you guys, I already have the 5.5 variant on my hand and I have to say it's awesome, the display is great, and it's super light for its size. I installed NOVA launcher and the device is pretty smooth. But I'm really disappointed with the camera, it's just awful. I'm really struggling to get any detail on people's face even with flash. Does it also happen to you guys?
In my opinion the camera is quite correct for the price. I think the word "awful" is a bit exaggerated.

Funny, I switched to Nexus 6, lots of good deals of late ($260 64GB), & of course, v6.0.1 & many cusom roms. I've relegated this phone to kid's multimedia. Night & day speed difference.

I don't know if it's because I updated the firmware, but now the camera performs much better than when I first tested it. This is an awesome device!
BTW, do you know if I can take RAW pictures somehow?
I see there are many variants of this device. Mine is 6045Y. What is the difference between them?
For the camera : yes since the update it performs much better.
For the raw pictures : I don't know, I'm an "awful" photographer.
