Music coming through speakers, while headphones are plugged in - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Community,
I have the problem I mentioned in the title. I plug in my headphones and there's no response, the phone just keeps playing through speaker.
Same thing if I plug in the headphones and then start playing music.
I tried a workaround with an app named Soundabout and it worked, so I thought this is a software issue, and proceeded to reset my phone to factory settings.
The problem is that the problem is still there.
I have had the phone for approximately 3 months, and it is not, nor has it ever been rooted, or tempered with in any way.
I would really appreciate some help

Nexus 5 Audio Leak from Speaker with Headphones connected?

Hey guys, I know the title sounds weird but has anyone gotten the problem of Audio coming out of both headphones and speaker randomly while listen to music or watching a video?
I have a 32GB nexus 5 and I was watching a video and all of a sudden the volume went down and I could hear from my headphones and speaker as well. Just wondering if it's just my device or someone else is also having this problem.
If so, you think it's a software issue or hardware? Cause if it is, I'm gonna get it returned or exchanged asap.
Bump. Anyone has this problem?

I accidentally thanked you. Lmao. Anyways, make sure your headphones are pushed in all the way. They may be in only partially.

Lool. Thanks for the thanks.
Trust me I did that. When i watch YouTube sometimes and put it landscape the audio starts coming out from the speaker while headphones are plugged in. I reboot the phone then everything goes fine but sometimes it comes back again. This was the second time so I am worried whether it's a hardware issue of software. I feel it's software.

Just to echo: I had the same problem whilst listening on poweramp on my headphones, I declined a call by sending a text and all of a sudden I have audio coming out of headphones and speakers. Very embarassing on the tube!
I have restarted the phone and all seems to be good, but Google need to fix this.
I got the Mobile on the day before yesterday, and yesterday only I first connected the headphone, and I experienced similar issue. While playing music through PowerAmp, all of a sudden the volume on the headset gone low, and I heard its coming through speaker also. I pushed the jack all the way in, but the problem persist all the day long. when I put the jack in, it starts playing on the headphone only, and randomly it starts leaking. while playing through headphone whenever I press the power button, it starts leaking, whenever I go to the eq screen on the poweramp it starts leaking. along with that it starts leaking randomly. Today after seeing this post I rebooted and till then I have not experienced it again. Please let me know, did u RMA it? or the problem solved?
If anyone else has a opinion or a suggestion please respond.
On a side note, my speaker volume is terribly low, I didn't know there was a shutter sound exist, until I read from the forum today.
Bump
Sent from hell through N5. Oh, yes, it works here too

I have a similar problem with my nexus 7, after buying a new audio jack/ micro USB port assembly. About two days ago the audio just stopped coming out of my headphones and instead plays from the speakers and I have know idea whats going on, if it is the assembly then I've wasted $70.
Bump Galaxy Tab A SM-T550
Same here.. Android 4.4.2. with PowerAmp.
When I'm listening "poweramp" I put to charge the audio leaks from the speaker
Just had that happen on LineageOS 14.1 (based on Android 7.1.2) OnePlus 2
While watching a YouTube video.
After doing some tests I found that it was happening when a notification was received during playback. The notification sound was coming through the phone and after that the media sound was also coming from the phone.

[Q] No sound over speakers (ringtone works)

Hello!
I've got an strange problem with the audio on my Nexus 5. If I play music without headphones, there's no audio output through the phone speakers. But if I press the Volume-Up-Button the typical sound is played through my phone speakers, and also the ringtone when I'm called is hearable.
If I plug in a headset, every sound is played through the headset, like normally.
I've got the newest CyanogenMod Nightly and I already tried returning to stock, but it doesn't help
It's really frustrating, it suddenly occured, from one day to another.
Looks like my Nexus is always thinking that theres a headset plugged in, even if there isn't. And there's also nothing in the headphone jack.
I've already searched, but hadn't found someone who has a similiar problem, so I thought I ask here, before I contact the Google Support.
Maybe someone of you can help me. Thanks in advance!
Greetings,
Markus

Have you looked at the media volume level in settings/sounds/volumes? Just to rule it out.
Couple of things.
The phone could think that the headphones are still plugged in. Try plugging it in and pulling out a couple times.
It could be RMA time if you go back to completely stock and this still happens.

I got that problem since more than a week already and I still use my phone, so I plugged it in and out almost permanently, but thanks.
And yeah, looks like it's RMA time, unfortunately.

Then you can do a data factory reset or reflash the factory image and if that doesn`t help yo might contact Google for a RMA (as allready stated above by another user).

already did a factory reset and flashed the factory image, like mentioned in my first post.
Hey, OP, did you find a solution to this? My phone just started doing this today as well, and I'd prefer to avoid RMA if possible.
Well, I found out the phone had been dropped in some semi-liquid food. So I opened up the back cover a bit, found some remains and cleaned it up and now it works fine again. Woot! Not sure if that is relevant to anyone else though (or if it really made a difference or was just a coincidence), lol.
In my case, it wasn't something like that. I just contacted Google for a RMA and got a new device very fast.
Some liquid inside the phone
Hey there!
This afternoon my Nexus 5 started to have the same problem you have related. I remove the back cover and I discover that it was full of liquid against the surface. I was running with the phone in my pocket (condensed sweat), so I recommend not to do that.
I have dried it and it seems that doesn't work yet =(
I hope my answer will help anyone with the same problem (at least to know a possible source of the problem).

[Q] Disable all headset controls on rooted S3 4.1.2

Okay so here's the situation. A while back I dropped my phone while earphones were plugged in. It must have damaged the headset jack or something because now when I plug in earphones, if you even slightly move the phone around or have it on you while running or moving around, it activates all sorts or things, from pause/play of music, to starting the music player, to Google voice search. Its incredibly annoying, and I've tried several sets of earphones and the problem persists. I'm all ready rooted running a version of the stock ROM. I don't have any headphones that have controls on them, nor do I intend to get any so I would like to know if it is possible to disable all headset controls. Appreciate any and all help.
I used this to root the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439

Maybe try replacing the headphone jack. I purchased this part from ebay last year when my S3 headphone jack would not play audio through headphones. I have had no issues ever since. It's fairly simple to replace and only a few bucks.
Gotta ask, are you sure you are not pressing a button on your earphones to activate any of these settings? My SkullCandy earbuds have a pause/play button that I was previously unaware of.
Just wanted to update. I ordered the part you listed and it fixed the issue. The repair was a breeze too. Thank you so much!

RE: OnePlus One Speakers not working!

RE: OnePlus One Speakers not working!
Hello,
It has been almost 4 months since I bought my OnePlus One and for the past month my dual speakers haven't been working. There is no sound output even when people are calling me. I have to plug in an external speaker or headphones to listen to the audio. Other than that, I can hear nothing. I am currently on the new CM13.0-20151220 nightly and I installed it in hope that this is just a software problem and that a new update will fix it but it still hasn't worked. I've factory resetted and re-booted my phone several times. I've tried installing SoundAbout but that didn't work either. Can you guys help me out?
Sounds like a hardware issue since it remained after factory reset. If you are still under warranty raise an RMA on the website

Make sure your headphone jack is clean. If that doesn't help, go back to stock, using the recommended recovery to do it. Don't install any apps at all, and test the phone.
If that doesn't do it, then you can see about service because you'd be pretty sure it's hardware.

Pixel No Sound through speakers

Hey guys,
So today my Pixel has been acting weird. I was listening to spotify on my phone's speakers and it suddenly got really quiet. Then a few minutes later they acted fine again. Now they wont emit any kind of sound, even the boot noise. But, when I plug in my headphones or bluetooth to my car all the sound works. Any ideas? Im running 7.1.2 rooted with EX and viper. I tried using SoundAbout to force sound through the speakers with no success.

try flashing the full stock pixel image and test speakers. (give it a day as it may work for a bit after flashing.)
this may seem like a software issue since it may work after restoring stock for a bit but it probably isnt.
if you still have the issue and its likely you will, contact google or your carrier depending on where you purchased it, to get a replacement. this is a known issue due to poor soldering.
Thanks Exad. Reverted everything to stock, did a factory reset, and nothing. Google is just going to replace it. Thanks for the advice.
