Quality replacement screen & frame - Xiaomi Mi 4C

Hi,
I have recently dropped my Mi 4C (3gb version, if that even makes a difference), cracked the screen and damaged the digitizer. I searched for a replacement screen & frame assembly on ebay and out of a dozen similar options chose one. I received and installed the screen without issues, but the picture quality is rather disappointing. The screen is not as bright as the original one with a noticeable yellow tint. If the latter can be remedied a bit by adjusting color temperature from the settings, the screen brightness is a real bummer. The original screen wasn't anything exceptional when it comes to using the phone outside in the sunlight, but the replacement one is just miserable... This leads me to my question:
Do any of you have experience ordering a replacement screen and actually getting a high-quality one? Where do you order them from?
Cheers,
A.
PS. Maybe I would have been luckier ordering a screen separate from the frame -- there are even more merchants to choose from, but I thought I'd save myself some gluing trouble...

This one was like the original
Hi, i've damaged my screen too and ai bought this :
on aliexpress.com look for "Xiaomi-Mi4c-LCD-Display-Touch-Screen-Tools-100-New-Digitizer-Assembly-Replacement-For-Mi-4C-Cell"
it's like the original one, i've not noticed differences :good:

[Q] Need new LCD for Sensation 4G....does it matter which one i buy from eBay?

Hi All,
I have checked the forums and tried finding the answer to this but haven't had any luck. I was putting on one of those "military grade" screen protectors on my wife's Sensation 4G last night (the kind that you apply water to the back of and then place them on the screen). Long story short, the screen works now (after putting her phone in rice overnight) but the screen is fairly dim and it flickers a bit. I know I will have to replace the LCD portion of the screen since that's the only part that got some water on it from the screen protector application.
Question is, does it matter which LCD replacement screen i purchase from eBay? i have read a bunch of threads that the digitizers are specific and may not work correctly if you get the wrong one, but does that hold true for the LCD itself or can we simply buy any new LCD replacement screen from eBay and install it on the phone (the original digitizer will still be used since the touchscreen works fine).
Any help would be greatly appreciated...i feel like a dope for causing this by applying a screen protector, even though my G2x didn't have this problem at all after applying the same screen protector from the same seller.
Sorry for bumping up an old topic, but I am interested in this too. Anyone can shed light to this matter please?
OP: Did you end up replacing your LCD? How did it go?
So hey you where installing a zagg screen protector?how much water did you put on the screen?

I still think those water application screen protectors are a ridiculous idea. Who's idea was it to use water on electronics?! Normal screen protectors do just as well. Make sure the lcd screen is the same physical size, pixel density, made specifically for the device, etc. Try pick the most reputable seller. But you WILL notice a difference in the screen, either colour, sharpness or response.

[Q] HTC One X directfix screen contrast too high

I just purchased this screen:
directfix.com/product/XX2544.html
After replacing my old one, I noticed the screen contrast is incredibly high, do you think this is a screen issue or improper installation?
having the same issue, driving me insane. any help?
Contrast too high
I recently shattered the screen on my HTC One X and had it replaced (the screen, not the whole handset). Now, like yours, the contrast is too high. Very poor in many, but oddly enough not all, apps. Text messages in particular look washed out. Adjusting the brightness doesn't help, just makes everything flatter
I had a go with the Screen Adjuster app, found via another thread. Looked promising but unfortunately it seems that its base line is where your screen is already at, so you can only decrease the contrast rather than increase it
I hope someone else can suggest a way of improving the contrast. It's not debilitating when using the phone, just irritating and not as good as my original screen.
Thanks
Same issue
I also replaced my screen and found the same issue, poor colors and high contrast as if there is a screen protection under the glass, any ideas?
Thanks!
Same here!
There should be some app/tweak to fix it?
Maybe Bravia engine?
Same Issue
Just got phone back from getting screen replaced and contrast is way too high! colours look terrible too, any suggestions to fix this yet?
Thanks
Problem solved...I think
I just got called back from the reseller and they say that there is a screen protection film between the display and the glass, as I suspected, I shall bring it back to the service and post here the result.

From what I read the one x LCD screen is fused to the digitizer so there shouldn't be anything between them that's removable

That is not true

No they are not fused. The LCD and the glass screen are just glued together.Youtube: watch?v=ceHw6mezG60. My guess is that the reseller has in storage only LCDs and gorila glass, and when somebody orders a whole screen they just stick them together and send it to you as a whole. And sometimes they just forget to remove LCD protection before sticking them together...at least this is what I think.

Touch does not work, replace digitizer?

The LCD works perfectly. Images that are displayed are correct, colors are good, but the touch aspect of it does not work. Occasionally the touch would come back but 95% of the time, the screen doesn't respond to touches. The phone wasn't dropped or anything. It just decided one day to crap out on the touch. Would it be easier to just replace the digitizer and not waste money to buy the whole screen assembly? Not to mention the replacement screens on eBay are probably not as good as the original OEM screen.
Much easier to replace everything in my opinion; i.e. mid-frame, digitizer, and LCD. The biggest drawback is the cost if you purchase an OEM screen instead of a third-party screen from Aliexpress or ebay.

Yea, I figured. Was watching a video on replacing just the digitizer. Seems like a huge pain and I'd have to spend more for tools as well to separate the screen. Where would you go about purchasing an OEM screen?
I purchased two of them from Aliexpress.com. I also purchased a replacement battery and tempered glass screen protector since I had the phones taken apart. Mine screens cost around $33 USD for black. The red looks interesting too.
One thing I noticed about the original and the replacement is the fact that the replacement does not seem as bright, but I only noticed this when I held the screens side by side. On its own, the replacement seemed quite nice for the price.
So the replacement screens you purchased wasn't original LG? Then again I doubt LG would sell the screen assembly by itself to consumers. I see ebay selling screens with a frame for <$40; I've never tried aliexpress before.
The screens I purchased were not from LG. The LG screens are over $150 each in Canada.
The screens on ebay and Aliexpress are probably very similar in quality. I went with Ali because they were a bit cheaper and I got the replacement in 2 weeks via registered air mail.
I purchased a screen from Aliexpress, replaced it, and the touch issue still persists. The screen works fine, but the touch just doesn't want to work. I guess I just wasted the cost of the screen to fix an issue that wasn't the screen's fault. What else can I do at this point?
The front glass does not contain the touch screen part.
It(the touch screen) is included in the layers of the lcd screen itself.
Your fault is maybe corrosion or malfunction of the mainboard concerning the touch screen part.
Try to clean the connector with some izopropylic alcohol, and maybe you can restore the functionality.
If not, then try changing the motherboard.
You're welcome

Restore my Nexus 5

I'm wanting to give my old Nexus 5 a facelift. I love the old phone and not parting with it. Problem is.. The frame is cracked by the sim card tray. Do I have e to replace the screen or just the midframe?
Simplest way to deal with the issue would be a nice case. I use a spigen hybrid case to hide scratches on the back and minor frame cracks.
Frame can be replaced easily...but you obviously need to take it apart for it..
Found a frame for 14 bucks.. but it would be less Hassel to get the frame/LCD together wouldn't it?
I just don't want to mess anything up taking the LCD off the frame
An original frame and LCD are very expensive and the third party LCD and frame are definitely not as good as the original but they are much cheaper. I have replaced quite a few LCD screens using replacements from Aliexpress. The original screens are brighter and the colour looks richer. People for whom I replaced the screen can't really tell the difference until I hold a working party screen screen next to my phone which has an original screen.
A few months ago I spent a lot of time on eBay looking for a used N5. A large number of them had the SIM tray crack, and all of them without exception said it was purely cosmetic and had no effect at all on the phone's performance.
If you really love your N5 the very last thing you want to do is take it apart. Have a browse across the XDA forums to see how many people replaced just the battery and ended up with a dead device. And what you're talking about is no doubt riskier than a simple battery replacement.
Me, I'd just live with it, or if you really can't stand the sight of the crack then use a case as audit13 suggests.

Pixel 4a was thrown hard to pavement - screen blank with green flashes

I was looking at GPS and stumbled on some broken pavement and while keeping my balance ended up swinging my arm down while loosing grip on the phone. The phone still rings but the screen is blank with green flashes. I ordered a screen on AliExpress but it is blank with a faint flashing grey line at the top.
My question is - is there another component to the display rendering that might be damaged by the impact?
Or is it my bad luck the replacement screen is no good?
I'm trying to decide if I should cut my losses or perhaps buy a 2nd replacement screen from iFixit? (supposedly Google OEM)
Thanks for any opinions on this.

You should probably buy a refurb screen from iFixit, which is more trustworthy.
