Cases that feel like actual phone - Note 7 Accessories

Everyone is stating the phone feels great without a case. What do we do buy cases day 1 and eliminate that feel. I feel I take off my spigen crystal case just to feel the phone daily. At this point just about every case for the note 7 has been purchased.
If your phone with case has a similar feel to to holding your actual phone please post pics and where you bought it from links are welcome.
Remember the phone has to feel like it was naked that's the goal of this thread.

Yes, transparent cases are perfect for our smartphone, more than Note 7!

Im also looking for a case for my Note. I honestly dont even care about drop protection, I just want the absolute thinnest possible, nice looking case to protect it from scratches, thats it.
Bonus points if it has port / hole covers as well as full button coverage.

Bear motion, black. Looks great and as thin as they come with some awesome texture.

Seriously not sure why people don't mention them more, the texture is amazing and if you are into slim cases they fit great.

The Ringke slim case is super thin like the bear motion, but it gives some protection. It covers up to the display and barely makes the phone any bigger at all.

If you guys have the cases please post pics and if you know where to find please post links.

I just took a peek at both the cases I like the ringke slim for all around protection. The curve sides look really nice purchasing one now. This may be what I was looking for.

Hmm. I have a spigen crystal and they look almost identical when you get it take some pics if possible. The problem with my spigen case is it has rigid edges and the grip factor is gone with this case.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk

sure. I find spigen aren't quite as thin as they imply in reality. I used a ringke on my note 5 and it was just a tad smoother and thinner than spigen.

I have an olixar gel case that really has that barely there feel imo. You need to like/not mind gel material though, it feels good when you hold it (grippy) but I can imagine people thinking it looks to cheap on their fancy phone.
Perhaps this is a bit more look than feel but I think the Obliq Slim Meta cases do a good job. It helps that they copy the color of the phone I suppose
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTUwMFgxNTAw/z/694AAOSwsTxXjq9F/$_57.JPG?set_id=8800005007
(I also really like the look of the metallic back)

I have always used them too. But their current Note7 case provides ZERO screen protection. If you lay the phone down on its face, it will rest on the glass, not the edges of the case. They are aware of the issue and are considering a re-design. They didn't have much of a choice since the edges of the screen curve down giving them less room to protect the device.

This was the first case I bought for my Note 7 had one for my S6 Edge + and it was my daily driver, It went on my Note 7 smooth aside from it feeling like it was going to scratch the hell out of my bezel, but loved the fit and it felt great. Didn't like how it mashed and scraped against the buttons because the case has button cutout, and lastly first time i took it off (not easy!) I was sick to my stomach because I thought for sure my bezel was going to be gnarled up (luckily it wasn't, but I feel like over time it would be with this case) and I easily broke the tiny bit of plastic between the volume button cut-out and where the screen begins. So I give this case (unfortunately) a thumbs down. :crying:

CaliCase will be exactly what you're looking for. It will hands down be the thinnest case available when it releases. They're working on it and it's what I'm waiting for. Nothing else comes close.

That stinks you've had problems with the Ringke case. So far I have had zero problems. Nothing has broken, the case hasn't caused any scratches on the back or bezel and I have even dropped the phone twice on concrete with not issues. That being said, this case does not take the shock of the fall like a TPU case so it definitely doesn't protect from falls as well. And while it does have a small lip raised above the screen on the top and bottom, the sides do not have a raised lip, the just come right up to where the bottom of the curved edges on the side are. But yes I can lay the phone face down and the screen does not touch. Maybe we have a slightly different case? Here is the one I am using:

I just received my N7 two hours ago and am now looking for the slimmest case possible. I don't like cases that covers the buttons, I like using the actual phone buttons.
I have this case for my S6E and really wish there was a similar one for the N7, it's the best thing ever since it only snaps to the corners and keeps the phone's edges free:

Review of 3 cases

I've now tried 3 cases purchased from Amazon, all good in their own way.
Terrapin TPU gel case £5.25. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014H39MWM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
(I got the smoke black, which doesn't seem to be there anymore).
Good fit, cutouts work although if I was being picky I'd say they maybe are a tiny bit off center. The volume and camera keys are covered with buttons on the case that work but could be easier to use. The power button feels a bit deep in the shell, due to the 2mm or so thickness of gel. Seems to offer very good protection, best of the 3. Case comes slightly above the screen, so protecting it if you lay it face down. Adds moderate bulk to the phone.
Roxfit Titanium shell £10.09. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015EFMB3O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
Bit misnamed, it's plastic with what looks like a metal insert in the back. Very good fit (in fact difficult to get the phone back out). It exposes a lot more more of the sides of the phone (all of the top, bottom, and the buttons area on the right) than the Terrapin, but still gives very good protection and makes use of the buttons easier. Corners are well protected and the case comes up over the screen, protecting it if you lay it face down. It feels pretty sturdy overall. It looks premium from the back with the gold insert, although the plastic around it maybe less so. Thinner round the sides than the Terrapin but bulkier at the back.
Easydigital hard back £2! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014UYKXD0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
The cheapest of the 3, and although you can tell it's actually pretty good. Very light and thin, adds the least bulk to the phone. It's the hard plastic type of case as opposed to the gel Terrapin. It's completely clear and because it's so thin, it actually looks better on the phone than the others (in my opinion) as the phone basically looks as it normally does. The top and bottom are exposed as on the Roxfit, there are cutouts for the buttons on the right, as the case is so thin this doesn't affect their use. One point to note - if you use the cord attachment hole on the left of the phone, you can't use this case as it doesn't have a cutout for it. It offers the least protection, the corners are just covered and it only just comes above the screen. At the moment I have a plastic protector, but when the tempered glass one turns up this will probably be proud of the case. The fit is about 99% - the phone moves a tiny fraction within the case, which I'm sure could be solved with a tiny sliver of rubber in there - although to be honest I'm being very picky and it's not really a problem to live with it.
Note - none of the cases have a cutout for the sim/micro sd cover, not an issue for me.
I'm currently using the easydigital, I'll see how it works when the glass screen cover turns up.
Great info!
Could you put a picture of the phone with the last case?
I was deciding between "Orzly FlexiSlim Smoked Black" and "Orzly Bumper Case Clear" (My Z5C will be Black).
Now found my favourite - Orzly FlexSlim Case. £6.99.
It gives pretty reasonable protection but adds minimal bulk. It's a gel type case, cutouts are spot on and don't get in the way of any of the buttons. It won't give as much protection as the Roxfot or terrapin above, but enough for me. I got the white, which looks good on the black phone. I've now got a tempered glass screen protector, this case is probably a fraction of a mm above it so still protects it face down.
I can't see changing away from this now, it's better than any case I found for the Z3C (had the Devilcase, which gave good protection but was a bit bulky and very expensive).
I buy and use this

Definitely improved. It's not as rubbery/sticky as some, it's a sort of matt plastic/rubber finish, but no issues with grip.

I'm trying to decide what color (smokey black / smokey white) would look better on a black z5c. Opinions?
Edit:
Sorry, I just read your previous comment about your color of choice. Could you possibly share some pictures of your phone with the case on?
I have the smoky black. But I still prefer a 100% clear cover.
Today I started using the phone naked. I've been 3 weeks with the flexislim.

Haha well that depends on what're you looking for.
I bought this case to protect the phone from scratches during the 30 days for Amazon returns.
The case is really slim so it won't protect the phone against drops. But it adds some distance to the screen edge (more thickness to the phone) so it could separate your screen from the floor in a potential drop.
I like more the other Orzly solution. The crystal clear bumper. But it's a bit bigger than the flexislim

Thanks man!
Yeah I know that it won't protect against drops because of how slim it is.
That is actually why I'm interested in this case, cause I don't want any bulk. I'm just looking for better grip I guess to prevent drops.
Mmm the grip isn't great.
The typical (and tick) generic 100% TPU cases have a much better grip. This TPU case it's like smooth.
Sent from my E5823
How is the grip in the Terrapin tpu case?
I'm looking at the crystal clear terrapin tpu.
The volume buttons are covered right? (I don't like that).
S-Line
I am also looking for the ideal case with 2 main criteria: slim and grippy.
I usually go for genuine S-Line cases by Cimo USA but unfortunately they don't make cases for Sony devices.
I got a copy on Amazon. I can't post the link, not enough posts.
If you really want to see the exact one, search "Sony Xperia Z5 Compact - S-Style noir - Cover PhoneNatic" on Amazon.fr or .de.
I've seen several similar designs, but slightly different: different camera hole shape, fully mat back...
I will try to shrink it with the boiling water method.
If you know a good slim and grippy case, please share .
I've gotten a handful of cases coming in the mail, mind if I add them in here once I receive them?

Hi ewans,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread - but I have just ordered my Z5C. I was going to get the terrapin or Casemate Barely There - but would like to hear your view on why the Orzly is better than terrapin.
Thanks!

Recommendation for a very thin "rubber" slip on case for the Note 4?

I'm not a fan of bulky cases that add alot of girth to an already large phone. Also don't like silicone as it's too much friction going in and out of my pocket.
When I purchased my LG G3 at Best Buy I picked up their "house brand" most inexpensive case/condom for the phone and it is fantastic. Just thick enough to provide edge and corner protection from a mild fall but not so thick as to add alot of bulk to it. The G3 was also a very difficult phone to hold... almost too thin at the edges. This gave it a nice grippy edge to hold on to, but it wasn't silicone so it still slid in and out of my pocket.
Going to all the major retailers now is nothing but iphone iphone iphone and MAYBE a few S5 and S6 cases. Bestbuy, Target, Walmart, etc.
I have Amazon prime but this is something I'd like to see in person, maybe take out of the box before buying.
So any recommendations? Hope I have explained the type of case I'm looking for. I really don't want to ding up my new beautiful aluminum sides or god forbid shatter the glass. The edges are just a bit too slippery for my liking.
Thanks!
-Jon
I bought the Spigen Neo Hybrid case for around $14 on Amazon and I love it. It's thin and has a premium feel to it.

Looks like it is too late for my recommendation, but I really like the Samsung Protective Case made by Samsung:

I have the Diztronic case as well, and don't like it as much because it is slippery, has less protection, and doesn't look as good as the Samsung one.
I second this guy...
I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid, a Spigen tough armor and an orange UAG case.
out of all I found out how well made the Samsung protective case is, also the feel in hand is great, not bulky very durable and it does protect the phone very good.
it has become my daily favorite case.
I still use the UAG case from time to time for looks but still bulky.
and well the Spigen cases I only used them for a while.

The first case I ordered was the Samsung OEM listed above. I used it for two weeks and decided to also order the Diztronic one I linked to. Between them, I use the Diztronic most of the time and actually like how it feels more than the Samsung one. But the Samsung is harder and does provide a little more protection.
I used this approach on my Note 2. Mask off your screen with masking tape. Apply 3 layers of electrical tape to al 4 corners of your device, neatly and evenly trimmed to act as "bumpers". Spray light even coats of Plastidip, 6 coats should do. If you don't like it or it becomes damaged you can peel it off. Apply your bumpers 1 layer at a time . Run a razor around the edge of the battery cover when dry, you can easily remove the battery cover whenever. Thinnest phone case you can imagine, and grippy. Minimal protection though

Yah I bought the Samsung OEM case in blue and I bought a Casology Bumper case in carbon Fiber. Both are superb but the samsung one is a bit thinner. Bot cases, though feel like you have the phone without a case. I like the corner bumpers as well on the Samsung Protective Case. It provides a very slim design without compromising protection.
Using black/grey version of Samsung's protective case. It is very good & slim. From back, the phone looks like Note 4 Active! Only thing I miss is a kickstand.

How is it when taking it out of your pocket? Is it smooth or is it like those silicone cases that are hard to take out? I recently got a Note 4 and I'm also looking for a case that's thin. Also, has anyone ever bought a S Pen from amazon or ebay and recommend it? I bought my Note 4 used and it didn't have the S Pen. Samsung website has them for $30 and it seems pretty expensive for a stylus.

Just get the stylus from Ebay. They have the original ones and theyre like 2 for $5 with rubber tips and everything. As for the Samsung Case, it provides decent protection and is very easy to take out of one's pocket. The silicon around the sides gives it grip but doesn't makenit clumsy to take out as the back is plastic and much more smooth.

Best Note 4 case I have....
http://www.amazon.com/Nillkin-Samsu...id=1453178640&sr=8-10&keywords=nillkin+note+4
I have several Spigens, Ringkes, Verus cases, OEM wireless flip case. The TPU above is the one I keep going back to. Only 0.6mm thick, makes the phone feel "caseless".

Spigen [Thin Fit] [Black] Premium Matte Finish Hard Case [Amazon]

This is my short take on this new case I just received today. I like it because it is thin. The cut outs are clean and centered. The back has a soft touch plastic feel so it helps with grip. Finger prints do show on the case (some people with dry hands will not have an issue. My hands are normally moist.) but can be easily wiped away.
Normally the hybrid cases with PC (polycarbonate) on the back and TPU on the sides that cover the buttons give them a mushy feeling when pressed. It is hard to tell if you pushed the button all the way down or not. So with the cut outs for the power and volume button, this problem is eliminated. The plastic which separates the two buttons help me to identify each button quickly. I also found the buttons were unintentionally pressed a lot when I didn't have the case. I don't have this issue anymore. I would recommend this case for anyone who wants protection against scratches. It won't protect the phone against high drops. There is no cushion or air pockets to protect the phone. But this is exactly what these thin cases are for, scratch protection and protection against small bumps. I bought it at Amazon. I ordered it around noon Pacific Time and it was shipped after two hours. I was pleased with the speedy handling.

Update...this sounds silly but the case seems to make the phone feel heavier to me. But the added weight feels good in the hand. The case by itself is not heavy. Not sure why I feel this way...
Update # 2: 24 hours later, I am still loving this case. The finger print scanner cut out is the perfect size. I have not had any issues unlocking my phone. I actually wanted a clear case but this black color is starting to grow on me. With the camera visor being glossy black and the case being flat black, it adds a stealth look along with providing some contrast.
Update # 3: The case's matte finish does not create too much friction when inserting the phone into your jean packet or pulling it out. This is a plus.

Looks nice, I'm usually pretty impressed with Spigen cases. I ordered this one: http://www.spigen.com/products/nexus-6p-case-rugged-armor hopefully it gets here soon because I'm not a huge fan of the Ringke case I have now.

Seems many buyers on Amazon would disagree with you. Three main things I don't like about the Ringke:
1) I don't really like the feel of the case
2) Its a fingerprint magnet, unlike anything I've ever experienced.
3) The front edges are kind of sharp which can make it a little uncomfortable to hold against my ear while on the phone.
If only Otterbox made the Symmetry series for the Nexus 6p and all my future phones, I'd never have to shop around for cases again.
This case is pretty excellent - feels grippy & solid

Lol I was going to say that many buyers on Amazon would disagree with you about Ringke, but I guess you know that buyers go with the flow most of the time. All of what you said is true for the Rugged Armor, which are the reasons why I don't like it. And also it is sand magnet too. That's my real life feedback. I am sure the Amazon buyers will disagree

Ultimately I can just return it if I dont like it. The inconvenience of owning an unpopular phone and being unable to try a product hands on before purchase, but at least Amazon has a solid return policy.

I love it, except that the upper and lower machined extreme edges aren't protected from certain angles.
I've never been a big fan of cases, especially on beautiful devices like this one - but you just sold me on this case. Great pics!

I am not a fan of cases either and will probably remove it once the phone isn't new to me anymore (in 3 months?) But I can't wait for the super thin one that the others are chatting about from Huawei. I want to ensure my phone doesn't scratch considering the metal body. Good luck.

OP, a question to you: do you think the case will accomodate one of those thin metal plates attached to the back plate on the inside, to use with a magnetic car mount? Like this:
The plate should be very slim, only about 0,5-1mm in thickness. Do you think this will work? Any way you could test this out for me even, by sticking something of approx. that thickness in between the back and case?
Thanks in advance!

I have that same car mount. It works for me with no issues. I'm sure it will work out for you as well.
BTW...I do not notice the plate after the case is put on. The back is flat. The pictures taken have the plate inserted.

Haha, what a coincidence! I'm happy to hear you don't even notice the plate sitting there, and even happier to hear that the plate was actually in there in those pics, because I didn't notice it myself either
Cheers!
I'm really enjoying this case as well. I agree with all the OP'sthoughts especially about fixing the sensitive button presses. Overall very happy with the thiness, fit and soft touch. Also purchased thisNexus 6P Case, Monoy High Quality Ultra Thin Matte Black Hard case Cover for Huawei (Google) Nexus 6P 5.7" Devices (2015) (Black Hard Case) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0168B7RIM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_5XZtwbS5G6308 which is also nice. Very thin but covers most of the visor and has a textured soft touch finish. I did end up using the spigen but may switch. The other case doesn't have an issue with fingerprints.

Without using any tool for measurement they seem to be identical in thinness. Only notable differences between the two would be the visor cover, soft touch finish, and the spigen has a piece that separates the volume and power buttons. Either of these things can be taken as a plus or minus depending on personally preference. If you're deciding between the two the Monoy case shipped and arrived faster.

There is a tiny lip so the glass does not contact the surface if placed glass side down. I think you need a screen protector if you're worried.

Review: UAG Clear Hard Case for LG v10

Just got this in today. So far very impressed.
There were some concerns about them coming with scratches on them near the Sim bolt holes. They are there. This is likely a issue with the manufacturing process, but I think are far less noticeable on the clear version.
The feel is great like all uag cases. The grooves are natural places for your fingers and provide decent grip.
The cutouts on the side are to me not a Fingerprint reader solution as I find it hard to fit my finger there between the case and my glass spigen protector. Regardless, finger print reader is working for me far better than the OBLIQ case and the clear thin tpu cases I have. After re-calibrating it, I normally get it on the first try.
Overall very impressed, solid case without the bulk and well designed. I tend to swipe pages near the middle of the screen naturally and this right where the cutouts are making it feel caseless in that aspect.
Here are the pics, pretty tactical and bad ass looking.

Please, I don't ever want to relive that Note 4 nightmare. I must have spent $100-$150 on failed glass protectors on the Note 4.
At least The Note 5 and Galaxy S6 did not give me any problems.
I picked up the Zagg for the V10 and the thing was about 1/16" short on all 4 sides. Took it back for a refund before I wasted another $35.
I've used the Spigen Glas.Tr Slim in the past when they were a $34.99 protector and they were perfect every time. Got a couple more V10 Spigen V10's coming tomorrow and the clear UAG.
I received the case (clear). The side bars are partially revealed which is supposed to help fingerprint scanner. In the real world, it works 70% of the time without modification.
I had the UAG case for the Galaxy S4 (loved it) and then the LG G4 (didn't love it).
The clear cases seem a lot less grippy/tactile than the opaque versions, the surface finish is smoother which is not my preference.
Also, the rubber edge inserts on the side of my G4 case began to peel away from the main body, which sucked. I think it was because the phone had so many compound curves and thin edges, that the case design was sort of compromised. The slab shape of the V10 (and the corresponding UAG case) looks a lot more robust.
But, I picked up the OBLIQ case and I'm happy with it. Little less protection, but nice and slim, and low key design that mimics the original look. Plus it's super grippy.

I have them both and unless you have very dry skin, the glossy finish holds on to your skin great. Coupled with the grooves in the back, the uag far exceeds the OBLIQ in grip in my own personal slide out of my hand angle test. Lol.
The "grip" on the OBLIQ kinda makes it more slick in my opinion. Both good cases and the OBLIQ is a tad slimmer. Really depends on what you are needing. Last night I wore slacks and went case-less. It was actually pretty nice. I forget how sweet the phone looks.
If I had to choose. The uag would win by a land slide for me in overall grip, looks, and protection.
My 2 cents.
Review Video added to OP.
Just for ****s and grins, here's a non scientific grip/slide test vs the OBLIQ. ****ty quality, shot with a Droid mini.

Got in both the Ash and Ice (clear) cases last week and can't decide which color looks best.
These cases work just fine with the LG OEM wireless charging back.
Here are some pictures, let me which color is best?

Best Note 9 Protective Case Showdown

I am doing a poll as well for all the protective case. Feel free to choose your best Note 9 case.
1) Note 9 UAG Plasma Ash
Back
Military design and the combination of rubber & polycarbonate. There are 5 rubber type of screws which I think is just the design of the case. The four corners are slightly bigger, so there will be a small gap between the surface and the back of the case which to avoid being scratch. Besides, the 4 corners will be heavier, therefore when you drop your phone , the gravity force will caused the phone to drop at the corner so that your screen will be safe. Besides, there is a slanting design for the fingerprint sensor area which I bet will make you easier to reach & feel the sensor. The Plasma Ash if blended nicely with the Black Panther Note 9.

Inner
There is honeycomb pattern for the inner part of the case which I suppose it is for shock absorb.
Top & Bottom
Ports and button cutout is perfect.
Side & Raise
There will a raise near the top & the bottom of the case which will protect your phone when you drop it. Button feedback is good while the case is grippy too. It's feel good in the hand!
Overall is a good quality case and I highly recommended to those who wish to worry-free about their mightly Note 9. I will rate this case 9.5/10.
2) RhinoShield Solid Suit (Carbon Fibre series)
All the cutouts are perfectly aligned. Home button, volume buttons & Bixby button are clicky but not as tactile as UAG case. Access of SPEN is easy, however you are require to use your finger to poke the cutout in order for you to get the SPEN. I love the carbon fibre textures at the back of the case which give you the premium look of your phone. I will say the case feel really good in my hand with little grippy feel and they use minor rough matte finish for both side of the case. There are honeycomb pattern inside the phone which it suppose to absorb the force when you drop your phone.
Overall is a great case with premium look. Besides, it has military standard drop test 'checked' so you should not worry about the protection. There are lips which cover the top & bottom of the front screen which will protect your phone well if you drop your phone front face. Definitely a major-go for the case. This case definitely deserve the rate 9.5/10. Below are all the photos :
3) RhinoShield CrashGuard
This is a well-known bumper case for it's great protection with minimal bulky. All the cutouts are perfectly aligned. Buttons are clicky, in fact the home button even have better tactile feeling compare with SolidSuit Series. SPEN access same with SolidSuit. There are lips at the top and the bottom of the case either back and front which helps to protect your phone when you drop your phone in either direction.
There is a free back protector come with the case. Got my Camo Dbrand Skin, it just fit perfectly to the case. It's going to be my best combo so far balance in between beauty and protection. This case definitely for people who wish to have a protective case while showing off the back and thinnest of your phone. The side of the case using the rough matte finish too which gave you grippy feel. Overall, I will rate this case 9/10. You can refer all the photos as below:
4) Supcase UB Style
This is a hybrid case between TPU & Polycarbonate which also have military drop standard. It has a clear plastic back which allow you to show off your phone without compromise the drop protection. All the cutouts are perfectly aligned and buttons are clicky too. However, I am dislike the flat buttons design which sometimes causing me hard to locate the buttons especially for a big long phone like Note 9. As usual, there will be minor rainbow effect at the back if you are not using any skin or back protector. SPen cutouts is easy to access.
There are lips at the bottom and top of your phone which protect your phone when drop it face down. However, this case is as slippery as soap. The side finishing is smooth TPU which makes the case extremely slippery if you tend to sweat a lot. Overall, I will rate this case 7.5/10.
Check out all the photos below:
Conclusion
1) Ultimate Protection with Unique Look = UAG Plasma Ash
2) Great Protection with Premium Look = Rhinoshield SolidSuit
3) Great Protection with Sleek Look = Rhinoshield CrashGuard (personal preference)
Why are you posting a review of a case without a phone to test with? Saying things like the port cutouts are good and accurate? You can't possibly know this before having the device in-hand to test the fitment. This is premature.
Hope they come out with more colors, great cases.

Here in India the Pathfinder never made it for the S9 hence I assumed it's gone for good. Not a fan of the plasma or the new plyo. The monarch not only is expensive but looks hefty.
