how to remove TWRP in honor 6 TWRP - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HOW TO REMOVE MY TWRP in honor 6, because i cannot update my honor 6 , after downloading all files it'll restart and automatically i goes to TWRP mode , kindly help me

Do the following.
Is your phone rooted?
If yes, open supersu and completely unroot it.
If not (or after unrooting) Go to settings, check which firmware (vesrion of emui) do you have.
Download it on your computer, use huawei update extractor to extract recovery.img from that update.app of your firmware.
Copy recovery.img to your platform tools folder and flash it using
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot reboot
After the phone finishes booting, you are ready for OTA upgrade.
(Make sure you flash the recovery.img of the firmware already installed on your phone).
Let me know if anything comes up which it shouldn't.

I think the recovery.img is same of all the firmwares, like if you are on Lollipop then all the Lollipop version's UPDATE.APP will have same recovery.img and same goes for Marshmallow.

It's much easier to install stock recovery from the honor Multitool

Yes, but the manual way is the safest way. And we can see errors if we get any.

It's just a personal preference, if I can do a thing for myself and learn things along the way, why not do that instead of taking the easy way out.
Still, tools are there to be used so why not.

Yes. That is true. Just offering the easier way to do things

Maybe, do it the hard way first, learn hard stuff, and then do it the easy way as it gets boring in the end.

@tywinlannister7 Thanks for quick reply.
As far as I can understand, this file should be flashed (restored) after restoring my TWRP back up of nougat stock rom taken in January-2017. Currently I am on RR-MM.
Shall I able to take OTA then?

For OTA updates to work, you'd need a stock recovery on your device too; TWRP is a no go. Once you've restored your TWRP backup of your Nougat stock ROM (which hopefully may have the stock boot still), you can flash the stock recovery linked here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/how-to-ota-rooting-nougat-npj-25-93-14-t3601747
I imagine the easiest option is to flash the recovery in fastboot (same as you did with TWRP) using 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img', then rebooting into recovery.
I think, though I've not tried it with a stock recovery, that you should be able to flash the recovery image in TWRP:
tap Install in the TWRP menu
Select 'install image's
Find your stock recovery image and select
Choose recovery as the image type
Flash and reboot to recovery.
Then, provided your system has a stock kernel, no modifications to your system and a stock recovery (bootloader doesn't matter), you should be able to update via OTA.
@echo92 Thanks for detailed guide.
I had flashed SuperSU on Nougat stock ROM, so stock boot might be affected. Am I right?
In short, I want to sell the device, so I want to return to stock.

You could have directly flashed the latest March 1 Security firmware via fastboot and lock your bootloader too.

Shouldn't create any such issues. Anyways, you can make an entire backup of the fsg and other partitions in twrp.
Yes, your data will be wiped though.

Flash back stock boot and you'll be back to stock, as long as you didn't modify any of the other partitions (/system, /vendor, /product). And flash back recovery using adb.
Get stock boot by downloading your firmware from http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=mha
Then download Huawei Update Extractor https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
Open it up and open update.app which you extracted from update.zip. Right click on BOOT and extract, same with recovery.
Flash back boot using twrp and 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' to flash back stock boot.

You will have to flash back hw and public zips for your build. There's a folder (hw_init) in /data/ that gets wiped when you format data, it contain apps (system update for example) and the theme engine.
So you will have to flash back TWRP again and decrypt again if you went back to stock, else you won't be able to flash the zips. After that you can flash back stock boot and recovery, and you *should* be able to update via OTA.
Here's a little guide for getting HW and public for your build: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71302827&postcount=627
Also, question: What update are you trying to apply? It might just be that it's not approved by Huawei yet, and that makes it impossible to install using Firmware Finder.
And if you're trying the Dload method, it won't work. Only 2 offline firmwares have been released.
Edit: I should learn to read. So you're trying Dload? Yeah, that won't work.
I guess you could install your current full firmware using Firmware Finder, but for that you'd still need to flash back HW and Public so you can actually see the System Update button.
And that means flashing back TWRP, and flashing to /data requires decrypting, so you'd have to do that as well.

Thanks man, It really worked:good::good:
I'm running on Stuck Rom again :victory::victory:

How can I dirty flash stock emui 5 via twrp? Fails everytime.

Guys. I have tried and failed. Which exact zip do I need? Because the fullOtamf with pv fails. Which twrp do i need exactly? Because the openkirin one says error.
I flashed official arise viper system and it flashed but didn't install anything, further more my camera isn't working at all maybe because of selinux permissive I think, but I changed that to endorcing also, no luck, so I just need to dirty flash stock rom to fix it.
I'm a newbie to Huawei phones so preferably links of what twrp n file version u guys use would be highly appreciated.
It's hard to believe none of the people who viewed the post have ever flashed a stock rom via twrp. No one?
I really need some help here guys. Any advice is appreciated.
If you really need to flash it via twrp you need to download huawei update extractor and use it to create a flashable zip but that takes really long and one small mistake will ruin the firmware or your phone so i would recommend you to flash the stock recovery, update and then root, put twrp back etc.

Ok so somehow pushing volume up at boot gets me into "Huawei E-recovrry" and it says 3 things only 1) download latest software and recovery, 2) restart 3) shutdown. If I click first option it says Note: user data will be wiped after recovery install :/
Is this the one ur talking about? Can I do it without data wipe in anyway?

You could try pressing the "download latest software and recovery" button but i dont think it will work. I would recommend you to flash the stock recovery via adb and/or fastboot (create backups of course) and then update via team mt's firmware finder. After its done, unlock the phone again and root it. I dont know if it will wipe data because you have twrp on your phone. (I dont think it will wipe data but i still recommend you to make backups) NEVER EXTRACT THE UPDATE.APP AND TRY TO INSTALL THE IMAGES. I DID IT AND I GOT IN ERROR MODE.

Damn! I can't believe it's such a complicated process! I miss my Nexus now lol, it was such a breeze to flash stuff on it..
So basically there's no "dirty flashing" the stock rom... I have to install the whole firmware like it's new and then do the entire process of unlocking bootloader(which wipes everything), rooting, getting twrp, n start as new since a backup flash via twrp of my current system after that would again reinstall the incompatible viper mod that has defected my camera right now... Sigh.
I wish Huawei made it easier for people to do these things for people who want to.
Thanks for all the help! :good: I really wish there was a better way than having to start as new.

Dload doesn't clear data at all. But those files should be flashed via dload but issue is when you unlock bootloader, it will reset again.
You can flash certain files via twrp but that is data zip and not main zip file. Let me know the version you want and will try my best to help buddy.
Please give Current build and model number and new build number you are trying.
You can just restore data and it will not restore your viper mod as that is going to system partition as you flashed zip. So restoring only data will not bring back the viper mod.

Data zip is huawei apps etc? Or u mean my own backup data?
But Thanks alottt bro!
Model BLN-L21

I was just trying to flash same system again so that viper will be erased
I didnt try any new build yet because I'm really new to all these softwares like FWfinder and the other ones, I downloaded them but couldn't understand much sadly.
so I just did ur dload method for b361 since that is the only one I found with fullota-mf-pv version.

Let me check this mate for you. Will take sometime as will be occupied most of the time today so may or may not able to provide. You can install main zip that will remove viper but it will relock bootloader so unlocking it will erase data. Best way i think of is-
Do full twrp backup
Copy the twrp to sd card or pc
Use dload
Unlock bootloader
Flash twrp
Root it
Restore backup only for data and it will not install viper.
Or
Do titanium backup of all the user app and data.
Copy to pc or sd card.
Use dload
Unlock bootloader, twrp and root.
Boot and restore titanium backup
I know these are tedious task but want to have your data intact while without messing up with the phone.
Let me know in case you need files to flash or can search..good luck.

Team MT's Huawei Multi-Tool – Works with Honor 10 !

Hey Folks,
I recently stumbled upon Team MT's quite useful Huawei Multi-Tool – but didn't find anything about it in the Honor 10 Forum although it's compatible!
First of all I have no connection to Team MT at all, so this thread is just about the usefulness of the Tool and what you and I might experience using it.
Also I'm not responsible for any damages/issues caused by this tool.
The tool might come in handy for people that are uncomfortable using cmd/terminal commands or get confused too easily.
Of course there are still a lot of things that could go wrong so if you're not sure what you're doing or what the consequences might be, just don't flash anything.
To use the Multi-Tool, you'll have to have your bootloader unlocked and the phone connected to your pc with adb installed.
When the tool shows you the (right) phone model in the lower right, you're good to go.
With the help of the Multi-Tool, you can
ROOT your Honor 10 with Magisk
flash TWRP
flash STOCK RECOVERY
unlock various small features
All with just a few clicks.
You can download it at Team MT's website:

I for instance used it to flash the stock recovery after I had installed TWRP, so I could get regular OTA updates through the system again.
I'm curious to see if there are other people that have used the tool as well or what people that just heard of it now will use it for.
Is an unlocked bootloader required for the tool to root the phone and flash custom recovery?

The Stock recovery just appeared inside the Multi-Tool, where I was able to download and flash it, I didn't download or back up anything beforehand.
Isn't there some dropdown menu where you can choose the recovery to flash?
I've been flashing it onto my COL-AL10 AND my L29, so it works either way.

Help rooting phone received from beta testing.

I signed up for a beta test on centernode and received a smartphone to test. The phone is so new that I cannot find any information about it on the internet. The bootloader is unlocked on it. I was reading that you can use magisk to root any device with an unlocked bootloader and system image. Since the phone is so new I cannot find a system image. Is it still possible to root the device? Is there a way I can backup the stock ROM and create a system image that way? Is there something else that will work? I really want to root the device because it came with a preinstalled app which is a system booster type app. It will not let me uninstall it, disable it, or force stop it. When I install my app for my alarm clock it keeps killing the app and the alarm will not go off. I have went through all of the app settings and cannot get it to stop. It also keeps interfering with my VPN. I would also like to root th device to remove some of the bloatware and to have access to the HOST file. Could someone please help me this? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys!
I'm not known for giving good advice but if I was in your situation I would try to install the lastest version of Magisk and hope for the best. Knowing how I am it would be driving me nuts wondering if it would work.
That booster app, have you tried uninstalling it with adb?

Hey, thanks for your reply. I am really eager to root it. I almost just went for it. However, then I thought about it. If something went wrong I would not have any way to recover the phone since there is not a system image available yet. I have not given adb removal a try yet as I figure it would just be easier to go with rooting since it will help me with everything I am trying to achieve. If I cannot root it then I will go the adb route. Hopefully someone will come along and help me out. Fingers crossed
Let us know what you end up doing. Are you expected to send the phone back after the beta testing? If you are responsible for any damages done to it, I would not try it.
You could send it back bricked and say you have no idea what happened to it, lol. That or say you were "testing" the security of the device and that it passes

If you have the firmware then you're in luck (especially if it's the full one)
Download a program for windows called "Payload Dumper"
Open the zip (firmware) and copy out the payload.bin file.
Copy this to the input folder from payload dumper.
Run the exe for payload dumper
It'll output a bunch of files to output folder
You'll see a boot.img file this is essentially the file you use to boot your phone and also where magisk would reside too.
Copy this to your phone.
Install the latest Magisk then open it
Click install and then patch a file, navigate to the boot.img
Click the boot.img and it'll output a file to "SDcard\Downloads" usually called magisk_patched.img
Copy this to your fastboot folder on your computer and open a CMD / Powershell command to that location.
Then boot to fastboot / bootloader mode
Then type:
fastboot boot "name of patched boot.img"
eg:
fastboot boot magisk_patched.img
The phone will boot
From this point you are rooted but you need to make it permanent as you haven't flashed the boot sector at this point, you're only booting an image, if you were to reboot you'd lose it.
Open Magisk again then click install again.
Now instead of just seeing patch a file you'll see "Install Directly" + "Install after an OTA"
Click Install directly, allow it to finish, then reboot.
You're now fully rooted.
Heres my guides for the oneplus 8 pro, don't use the images there as they're for the 8 pro, you also can download payload dumper from there too.

Hi all, Have seen a lot of requests for patched boot images on these threads so thought i'd share a guide on how to get it yourself as well as all the files required, plus the patched boot.img if you just want to go ahead and boot/flash it...

So it sounds like since this is a beta device and I cannot find a firmware image in out of luck?
I guess the only other option I have is finding someone who can port twrp for my device. Then I can just root via TWRP. However, from what I have read that might not even be an option as Android 11 mostly has to be rooted the hard way which you have gave instructions on above.
Can anyone think of anything else I can try?

Awesome this is exactly what I was trying to figure out in my original post. Since there is no stock firmware available yet (beta unit) what is the best way to backup the device so I do not get a brick in the process? Thanks again for your help.

An actual back up? Probably twrp if available.
If not then you'd need a recovery method.
So providing you have a recovery solution you should be fine.

Ahhh okay since it is a beta device no one has made TWRP for it yet. What do you think the risk is of manually pulling the boot img, patching, and flashing is? If I can get that to work I will try to port twrp to the device. Thanks again for the help.

You're very welcome.
Chances of it not booting after doing that? Absolutely zero.
It's a copy not a cut, so you're fine.
The only problem you may encounter is the ability to access the device on that level.
Just turn on usb debugging and make sure ADB works as it should be checking on ADB devices.
Then go ahead with the pull.
You'll be fine.
Also once you have the boot.img if the patched one doesn't work then just reboot and you're back to normal.
I would advise against flashing it, just boot it.

You can't simply run
Code:
adb devices
adb pull boot.img > C:\boot.img
to clone phone's boot.img to PC.
The correct way is described here

Thanks for your help guys I appreciate it greatly. I am going to give this a try today. I will report back and let you guys know how it goes.
One last question. Since this beta unit I got is a tracfone branded unit with an unlocked bootloader is it possible that they could push a firmware which will lock the bootloader at some point? If so is there any way to prevent that from happening? Thanks again for all your help.

Possible yes, but I doubt they would do that.
Is it an ambassador phone? Or for testing?
Locking the bootloader wipes the phone so I wouldn't imagine they'd do that without forewarning.
Plus locking a bootloader comes with its risks too, so you could say that it broke from the update.
But it won't come to that, I've had several ambassador phones myself and honestly they're fire and forget for the most part, I wouldn't worry about it

It is a phone for testing which I am allowed to keep. Specs are Snapdragon 750g, Adreno 619, and 4gb of ram. Not too shabby for a free phone. It is a lot snappier than the moto e6 I was previously using.

Again!!!? What's your problem??
You're just trying to (for whatever reason) prove me wrong and yet again I wasn't being descriptive of an ADB pull!!!
You're pulling the boot.img off the device by whatever means.
To be clear for the final time, I'm not stating to use twrp, a script or anything else I said look it up / Google it!
Now if you've helped the chap then that's great, looking at what I said and attempting to put me straight when you clearly don't have to, is no help to you or the chap needing help it's just making you look like you're on a power trip.

I'm just trying to get some help here guys that's it. I appreciate everyone's efforts and opinions. Let's all try to work together and try to find a solution peacefully please.
So far I have adb installed and working. I have tried to use the commands I was able to locate via google. So far nothing works. I have also tried uninstalling some programs using adb which did not work. I think I am going to have to find someone who could port twrp for me
