DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT LIABLE TO ANY DAMAGE THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE BECAUSE OF DOING ANYTHING WRONG.
MOTO G4 PLUS [XT1643]
This is for those who had flashed a custom kernel on their stock ROM and now want to revert to stock.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. TWRP 3.0.3-n2 by @Shreps .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...covery-twrp-3-0-2-r3-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3494337
This one is more updated/maintained than the official 3.0.2 version.
2. 7Zip Compression Utility:
Download and install on your PC. I use this as it gives the maximum ultra level compression. See Downloads below.
PROCEDURE:
1. Download and extract the TWRP.7z using 7Zip.
2. Place the TWRP folder it in the root directory of your INTERNAL STORAGE.
2. Just reboot TWRP once and choose Restore and then choose this: athene_93-14_boot
3. Swipe to restore.
NOTE: As a general recommendation for all zip installations and backup/restore using twrp, Wipe Cache and ART Cache before you Reboot to System.
4. You're DONE

@tywinlannister7 Thanks for quick reply.
As far as I can understand, this file should be flashed (restored) after restoring my TWRP back up of nougat stock rom taken in January-2017. Currently I am on RR-MM.
Shall I able to take OTA then?

For OTA updates to work, you'd need a stock recovery on your device too; TWRP is a no go. Once you've restored your TWRP backup of your Nougat stock ROM (which hopefully may have the stock boot still), you can flash the stock recovery linked here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/how-to-ota-rooting-nougat-npj-25-93-14-t3601747
I imagine the easiest option is to flash the recovery in fastboot (same as you did with TWRP) using 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img', then rebooting into recovery.
I think, though I've not tried it with a stock recovery, that you should be able to flash the recovery image in TWRP:
tap Install in the TWRP menu
Select 'install image's
Find your stock recovery image and select
Choose recovery as the image type
Flash and reboot to recovery.
Then, provided your system has a stock kernel, no modifications to your system and a stock recovery (bootloader doesn't matter), you should be able to update via OTA.

@echo92 Thanks for detailed guide.
I had flashed SuperSU on Nougat stock ROM, so stock boot might be affected. Am I right?
In short, I want to sell the device, so I want to return to stock.

You could have directly flashed the latest March 1 Security firmware via fastboot and lock your bootloader too.

Thank you for pointing out.
Will I lose my IMEI or WIFI MAK or any thing else by fastboot method? Because I have read that some users are losing such things by fastboot method.

Shouldn't create any such issues. Anyways, you can make an entire backup of the fsg and other partitions in twrp.
Yes, your data will be wiped though.

[Q] So now that Lollipop is out...?

Hi everyone. I saw that Google released the factory image for the Nexus 5. I read on a lot of posts that the XDA members usually release a zip file that you just flash on your Nexus 5 through the recovery and it will install the bootanimation and the rom for you. I have no idea where that is. I want the final version of Lollipop and I want to flash it, not wait for the OTA update. Is there already a zip file like this or do I have to wait for some more time? Thank you.
Thread below you lol
Most of the flashing is described by google themselves: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
But do read more about it elsewhere and don't forget to backup everything before you flash, if your bootloader is locked then unlocking it in order to flash the image will wipe your phone.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There's an OTA Zip over there on AndroidPolice.
You can also flash the Factory Image like most of us did.
It'll be like a brand new Nexus.

Have you seen any of the other options?
Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit, contains options to restore completely to stock, flashing recoveries, boot images, you name it.
It's like an organized version for people who don't do fastboot command typings through CMD.
You could always flash the factory image yourself by Google Instructions, or download the OTA file on Android Police. The choice is yours. :/

Not exactly.
Download the factory image, and if you want to use Wugfresh, you go to restore to stock, select your own downloaded factory image, insert the MD5 from the Google Page, and it'll guide you through the rest. It's safer to wipe before doing this, but either way, it does it by itself.

Ok so I am going to make this clear so I can understand better and not mess up( because I tend to do that A LOT)
*Before I do anything I have to factory reset my device.*
1. Download the factory image from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
2. Open WugFresh and click on the "Flash Stock + Unroot" option.
3. I do not understand the MD5 part.
4. WugFresh will guide me through the rest.
P.S: I do want to be rooted when on Lollipop so I can just root again after I install Lollipop right?

The MD5 part, next to the " Download " button on the Google page. You see MD5:yadayadayada. In Wugfresh, it'll need the MD5 to confirm the zip.
You can root by installing a custom recovery, flashing SuperSU and a modified kernel.

How to OTA upgrade to NOF26V?

a little background information
current build: NMF260
recovery: TWRP RC1
kernel: elemental x 1.03
rooted: yes
Mods: weta audio 9.1
So I have completely forgotten how to do a manual sideload for an OTA. Could someone give me step by step, hand holding instructions?
What I have downloaded onto PC
sailfish-ota-nof26v -4bbb310d.zip
twrp-3.0.2-0-RC1-fastboot-sailfish.img
boot.img from nof26v build (that is for recovery right?)
and i have twrp zips for supersu, elemental x, and twrp rc1
basically i forgot how to flash stock recovery, because I need to to manually update OTA right? also do I need to remove the weta audio 9.1 mod first before doing the OTA? or can i just flash over it? anyone know?
Thanks!
https://developers.google.com/android/images <---- Click Full OTA update and follow instructions. Will not wipe anything. You do need to be on official.
If you want to just flash the peices download all of them and boot into bootloader then use fastboot commands per each item. Google the commands for bootloader, radio and the kind. Very easy.

where can we get the stock recovery.img?
that is not in the ota.zip file and neither in the full factory image zip file
I'm not rooted but since no one answered as of yet then I do believe stock recovery is now in the boot.img file. Search the Pixel XL forums too.
Stock recovery is in the OTA under boot.

Flash back stock boot and you'll be back to stock, as long as you didn't modify any of the other partitions (/system, /vendor, /product). And flash back recovery using adb.
Get stock boot by downloading your firmware from http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=mha
Then download Huawei Update Extractor https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454
Open it up and open update.app which you extracted from update.zip. Right click on BOOT and extract, same with recovery.
Flash back boot using twrp and 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' to flash back stock boot.

You will have to flash back hw and public zips for your build. There's a folder (hw_init) in /data/ that gets wiped when you format data, it contain apps (system update for example) and the theme engine.
So you will have to flash back TWRP again and decrypt again if you went back to stock, else you won't be able to flash the zips. After that you can flash back stock boot and recovery, and you *should* be able to update via OTA.
Here's a little guide for getting HW and public for your build: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71302827&postcount=627
Also, question: What update are you trying to apply? It might just be that it's not approved by Huawei yet, and that makes it impossible to install using Firmware Finder.
And if you're trying the Dload method, it won't work. Only 2 offline firmwares have been released.
Edit: I should learn to read. So you're trying Dload? Yeah, that won't work.
I guess you could install your current full firmware using Firmware Finder, but for that you'd still need to flash back HW and Public so you can actually see the System Update button.
And that means flashing back TWRP, and flashing to /data requires decrypting, so you'd have to do that as well.

Exact steps back to Stock with a clean "System Image"

Hi guys,
what are the exact steps to go back to stock with a clean "System Image" for taking ota updates?
I've made a clean backup via "System Image" in twrp with an unmodified system as stated in the twrp thread before i did anything else (root, etc.).
Thank you in advance
You dont need to. You can flash via ruu zip. Just use the same firmware as the phone is on now.

Thank's for the reply. But this was not the questions (please don' be mad). But what if i want to?
I did backup the stock recovery and a System Image backup prior to flashing TWRP via fastboot boot twrp-3.1.1-0-ocn.img (point 4/6 in the twrp thread).
What would be the exact steps? Can I just boot normal to twrp-recovery an restore the system image and the stock recovery? Like this:

Flashing RUU via recovery breaks the ability to take OTAs, correct? Where as running RUU exe doesn't? I think i read this somewhere in the xda ruu collection thread.

Return to stock & re-lock bootloader: HOW?

Hello,
I recently unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP as custom recovery, but I'm now in need to return full-stock:
could anyone please tell me (or link me - I searched but I didn't found anything about it) a full procedure to restore the phone status?
I need a stock ROM, I guess, but then what? Flash it in TWRP? Does it also include stock recovery or is it a separate file instead?
Thank you very much!

so you do know that relocking the bootloader will cause a factory reset and all data will be wiped from device.
First, all you need to do is download a full rom update and flash in system local update. that will put stock software and stock recovery back.
second, Reboot phone to bootloader mode. Then you just type in cmd "fastboot oem lock"

Thanks for your fast answer!
So is it better to flash stock ROM through local update than through TWRP? Or it's the same procedure both ways?
Thanks again!
They both will work.
