Google voice typing instead of Samsung? - Sprint Note 7 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to switch to Google instead of Samsung voice typing because Samsungs Samsung is TERRIBLE
Sent from my SM-N930P using XDA-Developers mobile app

I switched the keyboard to Google.
On my note 4 I could use the Samsung keyboard but still have Google voice so not sure why its changed.
Unless i'm missing it somewhere.....

Any Bluetooth apps that can dial from lock screen?

I'm trying to find a way to dial without unlocking my phone. Any ideas?

Standard google voice dial and voice search support that.
Somehow google doesn't offer voice dial on google market anymore, and it's also missing from the Samsung ROM, but if you find the apk here on this forum, install both and it works beautifully.

Sprint Visual Voicemail

Sprint users,
Has anyone figures out how to get the VVM app on our nexus?

I'm no longer with Sprint and I don't have my Nexus 5 yet, but in the past I was able to get it working on my old Optimus S running CM7 from a titanium backup I got from the original ROM. Its worth trying to pull it from a Sprint branded device (with app data) and importing to the Nexus. But I wouldn't be surprised if that didn't work.
It'd be nice if they made it a Play Store app like T-Mobile does.
Why doesn't Android have visual voicemail support built in? My Windows Phone had VVM neatly integrated. I love this phone, but it really surprised me that I had to download a 3rd party app to do this on Android

If you use Google voice, it does have visual voicemail like features, include free transcription.
You don't have to do full intergration or porting either. Just have Google voice handle your voicemail (launch google voice and walk thru' the steps to set it up as voicemail app)
I tried setting up Google Voice as voicemail only and didn't not work, when I dial number to provision *28..... Just tells me something about code not valid...

OK So I installed Google Voice and set it up only to handle my voicemail only. I suspect that Sprint was doing nothing more than using Google Voice to an extent, because when I installed Google Voice and set it up on my phone my Old Voicemail greeting was the greeting that I had. I had never used GV before on any of my old phones and when I set up my Nexus 5 I used the system standard. (I could be and most likely am wrong about this theory, just found it odd that the greeting was my old one from my old phone when I just used Sprint VMM app before)

The error when dialing *28 is tower specific - I ran into this when I was trying out youmail on sprint. Had to try out a few different towers before the *28 would take - be persistent.

Google Voice & 3rd Party Apps

Just wondering if Google's change has inconvenienced anyone else?
Anyone seen reliable news on the future of using Google voice on another application, hangouts or otherwise?
I so far have not found a good alternative for Talkatone w/Google Voice.

I think they should refund all the Google Play App purchases that rely on this.
They could at least have left legacy support. I wish we could figure out a way to cost Google money every time they arbitrarily shut down a service.
I'm again regretting being a part of another Google experiment that uses me and leaves me out in the cold.

Default messaging app prompt (annoyed) assistance needed

Greetings XDA,
O.k. I'm new to Samsung and touchwiz so please forgive me, coming from the HTC One to the Edge. I previously used a few messaging apps going to one for this and another for that, keeping one for private messages an another for this and that... Google voice, go sms or handscent, the stock sms app, and hangouts, now voice and hangouts are kinda merging... however I am finding it annoying to be forced to stick with only one messaging app... it appears that touchwiz will only allow one such app controlling access to send messages.... is there a way to disable the system from forcing me to stick to only one app and locking the other ones?
I'm currently running the below rom
[ROM] Sprint Note Edge SM-915P NK1 Rooted Stock Deodexed
Thanx for any helpful suggestions
Im on stock and it lets me pick between sms/mms apps. Im using the lollipop messaging app from the play store default

Maybe it's just me then...
However try and use another sms/mms app if it's not your currently selected default messaging app, and see if it allows you to send a message from that app without changing it to now become your new default messaging app.

No it makes you switch tha one to default. but thats very easily done in settings. It like hangouts, it is on the edge, but i refuse to use it cuz i hate it for some reason. I d/l' ed "messaging" for lollipop in play store and enabled it as default in settings and im a happy camper

I guess I'm the only one this is a bother to, sad face and lowered head...

your not the only one this bothers. I just live with it. LOL

Voice search

Is there a way to open voice search directly without saying OK Google? Use to be able to, but now any shortcut seems to go to an inactive Google screen.
