I have a 920W8 S6 originally from Bell but unlocked and being used on FIDO. It is currently running 5.1.1 Stock Bell firmware I recieved an update notification for 6.0.1 from bell, however after unlocking the phone and inserting my FIDO simcard the update no longer appears. I downloaded the new 6.0.1 Stock FIDO firmware from sammobile, would flashing this via Odin trip KNOX? Would switching from Bell -> Fido stock FW trip KNOX? I keep reading conflicting advice online about whether or not flashing stock carrier firmware is safe. Also is there any way I can tell for sure if the image I downloaded from sammobile is signed?
Thanks!
No, It won't.
thanks! Also does Odin do any checks if the image is signed or not? If not, is there any way I can be sure it wasn't tampered with?
Use firmware from Sammobile and compare Md5 Sig
No it won't trip knox.
After you install 6.0.1 don't forget to do a factory reset to clear out all the bugs during update. I mean its not necessary but good practice when upgrading firmwares. Data will be erased!

Just a WARNING to any telus users of the S4.
There are NO real stock firmware files if you ever wanted/needed Telus stock firmware.
www.sammobile.com
and
www.samsung-updates.com
both *show* stock firmware for Telus, but all files I have downloaded are actually BELL firmware.
upon further inspection, the *bell* firmware and *telus* stock odin files on those sites share the same file size and md5.
Just incase some noob who has never used either phone asks.... NO THEY DONT RUN THE SAME STOCK FIRMWARE.
I have confirmed this issue with samsung-updates.com, and it is an error on SAMSUNG's server side, or an error by the carrier??
I have confirmed that this is an issue for all 3 stock firmwares for the telus S4:
I337MVLUFNE1 4.4.2
I337MVLUFNC1 4.4.2
I337MVLUEMK6 4.3
If any Telus user needs to flash stock for warranty purposes, you are SOL.
If you are a telus user WITH A STOCK phone. Please let us know. We will help you pull a dump file, and we can create a stock firmware image.
thanks for reading
Have you tried to change the csc when the bell firmware is loaded?
The file's the same for Bell Rogers Telus etc

Flashing the "telus" firmware as a whole from sammobile or samsung updates, includes the necessary CSC files. And CSC files will not affect the pre-installed carrier apps. there is an obvious issue if you have a telus phone with bell applications pre-installed, and no telus applications.

Rogers is affected by this issue as well? I really hope you are not stating that they are *supposed* to be the same. I will come to your house and slap you.

When I changed the csc from Koodo to Rogers... The phone resetted and then I had all the Rogers pre installed software show up. I didn't download the Rogers firmware.
This issue still remains on the latest NI2 firmware I downloaded and loaded yesterday. Only Bell pre-installed apps were loaded on my Telus S4.
I have a bone stock telus s4... Can you help me dump it
Don't need it. Just flash the stock ROM, and if needed there is a dialer code to change carrier csc
By changing the csc via dialer code, does that replace all the bell apps with telus instead?
Yes
I've tried flashing BTU - the SIM free firmware - with ODIn, and whilst it seems fine, updates don't seem to work. I have factory reset after every flash yet still software updates don't work. I know this because the version of BTU firmware I flashed was at least three versions old. When I check for updates I just get 'your software is up to date' - yet there are at least three newer versions of BTU on Sammobile.
The only thing I can think is that the low-level Computrace software that Samsung allegedly puts in their firmware is messing with the updates server. I know that Computrace still exists in the App Manager when I flash BTU. I've also just flashed 5.1.1 and it's still there.
I'd like to know if anyone with an EE S6 has managed to successfully get updates after flashing to a stock ROM, or if EE have crippled it. I wouldn't mind using EE's firmware as there is next to no bloatware; but their updates are horribly slow.
I should point out that I have never rooted the phone and the KNOX counter is not tripped. I've only ever flashed official firmware.
Thanks.
It could be your CSC is still pointing to EE and not BTU?
Nope, CSC shows as BTU when I boot into recovery.
Hello all,
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S6 G920f last year, the software for it is Austrian. I live in the UK, and have not yet received the MM update.
The phone is unlocked and currently on of network .
Do I need to change the firmware to an unlocked firmware eg. BTU? If so, do I use ODIN? Would this process break KNOX?
Or, should I just wait for OTA update?
AP G920FXXU3QOJL
CP G920FFXXU3C019
CSC G920FAUX3QOJ1
I have also checked smartswitch, but no update..
Thank you.
You could change to the UK firmware and flash via Odin. You should be able to pull the OTA update to MM. I done this myself and MM is a good update
Will flashing via ODIN trip KNOX?
Also, AUV in csc is Austria vodafone, has mm been released for this yet?
If your flashing official it shouldn't. It will treat that flash as an OTA update. Correct me if I'm wrong people.
Rooting would definitely trip knox.

i am using gs6 920i variants. its carrier locked i have not received update via ota. i am asking if its possible if i can download official 920i marshmallow firmware from sammobil and flash it. need your help...thanks
Yes, download (INU) it and load that PDA on your device but be sure that you are voiding your warranty (considering that yours is carrier locked). Make sure to also get the original firmware for your country and carrier to flash in, just in case you need it back
I have a samsung s7, I had some problems with it so I had to reinstall it via Odin. I downloaded a firmware called SM-G930f Three sweden. and since then the phone was locked to three sweden. is it even possible?? How and why? I downloaded other software but the problem persists. Is there even a solution? I could use any sim card before i installed the Wrong firmware
I don't think it's possible for carriers to retroactively lock and unlocked device, each country and carrier has their own firmware which can affect your network compatibility if you're using the wrong one.
Try finding a non-carrier specific firmware from updato.com or sammobile.com and flashing that, you can also try flashing the UK BTU firmware since it's the stock unbranded firmware.
Start with just flashing home_csc and nothing else if you don't want to lose any data, but if you want to do a full flash them all 4 files using normal CSC.
