from unlocked carrier to locked carrier! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I have a samsung s7, I had some problems with it so I had to reinstall it via Odin. I downloaded a firmware called SM-G930f Three sweden. and since then the phone was locked to three sweden. is it even possible?? How and why? I downloaded other software but the problem persists. Is there even a solution? I could use any sim card before i installed the Wrong firmware

I don't think it's possible for carriers to retroactively lock and unlocked device, each country and carrier has their own firmware which can affect your network compatibility if you're using the wrong one.
Try finding a non-carrier specific firmware from updato.com or sammobile.com and flashing that, you can also try flashing the UK BTU firmware since it's the stock unbranded firmware.
Start with just flashing home_csc and nothing else if you don't want to lose any data, but if you want to do a full flash them all 4 files using normal CSC.

[Q] Is there any way to convert an EE (UK) S6 to 100% stock, with updates?

I've tried flashing BTU - the SIM free firmware - with ODIn, and whilst it seems fine, updates don't seem to work. I have factory reset after every flash yet still software updates don't work. I know this because the version of BTU firmware I flashed was at least three versions old. When I check for updates I just get 'your software is up to date' - yet there are at least three newer versions of BTU on Sammobile.
The only thing I can think is that the low-level Computrace software that Samsung allegedly puts in their firmware is messing with the updates server. I know that Computrace still exists in the App Manager when I flash BTU. I've also just flashed 5.1.1 and it's still there.
I'd like to know if anyone with an EE S6 has managed to successfully get updates after flashing to a stock ROM, or if EE have crippled it. I wouldn't mind using EE's firmware as there is next to no bloatware; but their updates are horribly slow.
I should point out that I have never rooted the phone and the KNOX counter is not tripped. I've only ever flashed official firmware.
Thanks.
It could be your CSC is still pointing to EE and not BTU?
Nope, CSC shows as BTU when I boot into recovery.

Flashing 3 UK firmware to XEU unbranded phone?

As 3 UK now support VoLTE I want to flash the latest VoLTE 3 branded firmware to my unbranded phone but not sure how to go about it.
Is it just as simple as flashing the 3 firmware or is it a bit more complicated? I've heard stuff about pit files and not being able to sign them so not been able to flash carrier specific stuff to phone.
Anyone successfully done this?

Anyway to change/pick csc

I have a VOD Uk device I flashed to BTU so it was unbranded. With the MM coming out I plugged into smartswitch to change back. All went fine however it selects SIM csc and not VOD as it is a multi csc. Now I can't use wifi calling with this csc. In tried multiple flashes and wiping cache and resets. I've even gone to the XEF rom and back and still get SIM csc when i flash it.
Is there any way of selecting the correct csc or editing the firmware without tripping Knox to just install the VOD csc.
Many thanks for your help.
I would also like to know if this can be done.:good:

I'm hoping there is a bug in smartswitch in relation to the Voda firmware as other country's like Voda Germany are restoring and getting SIM csc as well not the one specified in the restor
Smartswitch won't let me restore either, it give an error saying sm-g920f not compatible :crying:.
any of you folks got anywhere with this issue? I'm still stuck on SIM

No Multi-CSC after flashing Germany's Oreo firmware

Hello, I first bought my phone from Taiwan and the CSC was pointing to BRI(Taiwan) at first but now after flashing Germany's Oreo firmware by following the xda thread, it no longer shows anything in my avaliable CSC, I'm only getting CHO(Chile) and nothing else. Is there a possible fix? I also tried flashing Taiwans firmware for nougat but still ended up with CHO service provider.
Im trying to get back to stock Taiwan firmware because they now have oreo update and supports Samsung Pay while the Germany's firmware doesn't support at all.
Also I accidentally reset my phone with Canada's Sim card in while factory resetting once.
I've attached an image of my phone's CSC info
Any help is appreciated. Thank you
EDIT: another thing I noticed was my phone model changed from SM-G955FD to SM-G955F, is there any way to get it back to FD somehow? In my settings. About phone, it does say SM-G955FD still though
If you change the 'model' of your phone via a flash, you need to flash/change the CSC with the same 'model' of the OS you used.
If it seems a bit convoluted, I'd flash back to full OEM, and make sure that is all OK, and then flash the proper CSC package.

Firmwares for SM-G955F and SM-G955FD are IDENTICAL, your model number has not changed. To change CSC I had to install FW with new CSC, then do factory reset and after first boot I got prompted whether I want to change my CSC (based on inserted SIM card), confirmed, the phone did factory reset again and got new CSC installed. Also, Canada is not included within OXM multi-CSC package as G955F/FD is not sold there (or at least not officially).

Thank you both for your help. I'll try and flash just the CSC firmware then reset when samsung decides to push the OTA again and will see if that solves it. The firmware for Taiwan came out only a few days before they took it out so didn't have a chance to download it.

Question [SM-S908U] Flashed Samsung DSH firmware over ATT firmware

Hello! i flashed with full wipe the SM-S908U DSH unknown firmware over my ATT branded S22 Ultra, thinking that it was the unbranded version. I still have all the ATT branding everywhere and also the ATT software update option in settings.
My question is: will i still be able to get OTA updates with this firmware?
Unbranded firmware is U1 firmware. DSH is Dish network/Boost Mobile

The weird thing is that even though I flash dtbe full firmware, when I booted up, I still had the ATT customizations, but in settings it shows the firmware is updated to the DSH that I flashed? Very weird.
The reason is that DSH firmware is still U firmware with a CSC that adapts the firmware to the SIM installed, therefore it reverted back to AT&T. As previously stated, you need U1 firmware, unlocked defaults to XAA in the US.
So what will happen if I dirty flash with the Home CSC the new DSH U over my SM-S908U1 that has been already flashed from U1 to carrier U Xfinity Mobile hard sim and a T-Mobile eSim ?
Will I still keep my same Xfinity Mobile T-Mobile carrier data ?
