I only need Hotspot for my girlfriends N7. - Sprint Note 7 Questions & Answers

Good day. I have read a couple of posts regarding Hotspot and Root for the N7. I am giving my girlfriend my new N7 and Receiving her S6. She is no way electronics savvy. What will be the best and easiest way for me to make Hotspot work on the N7? Does it have to be rooted, or as I saw someone post that Galaxy Tools works permanently. I am nervous about using Super Leaks root method due to many different steps I have never done in the root process.
Thank you for you time.
Blessings

Look for the unlocked hotspot thread. Basically, reboot your phone and immediately turn on the hotspot. Takes a little practice but it works.

THANK YOU. I saw it. I guess she will have to practice and or wait for A CUSTOM ROM Lol

Just rooted! First time using adb

Well today at work I decided to take the plunge. I've done one click roots on all my other devices but this was much more intense. I actually enjoyed it and feel more accomplished. I have a better appreciation and understanding for all the devs out there. Thank you devs.

This is my first android phone. I was so worried that while I was rooting someone would call. I don't know if that would've messed things up or not, but once I was done, I felt awesome.

Lucky you, I did mine during the morning and had 2 calls while running the adb commands.

Yea I was concerned about getting phone calls too. I even considered putting in airplane mode. But no one called. It was awesome

congrats on joining the rooted tbolt club
remove your sim card before flashing and you won't have to worry about incoming calls/text

T-Mobile WiFi Calling/Texting?

I did some research to see if WiFi calling/texting is available for the nexus 5, but unfortunately its not... Natively at least.
Does anyone know of a way to add the T-Mobile WiFi calling functionality to the N5? I figured there's probably some way to port it over.
Thanks! (I figured this would go in general? Sorry if its the wrong section)

Wasn't done for the Nexus 4, probably won't be for the Nexus 5. WiFi calling has to be deeply integrated into the system.

Well yeah, I figured that, but with custom recoveries, kernels, etc. already, I figured there would probably be some way to get it in there.

Considering there's been a $1400 bounty to get it working on the Nexus 4 for the past year with no success, it's proven to be very difficult. Maybe one day it will happen, but don't give your hopes up.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012468
As mentioned, even with $1,500 incentive, nobody was able to do it previously because it's just not possible without the custom bits from T-Mobile.
Damn... Well maybe one day. :/ I'm surprised T-Mobile hasn't allowed to it be added in an easier way. Such as through an app, or even taking it to a store and having someone there load it up for you.

Just get Republic Wireless if you need wifi calling. It's Sprint though, so buyer beware.

one Click root?

Just curious if sometime in the future there will be a one click root for the maxx/mini/ultra/ moto x? I spent 4 hours in hell trying to get my Maxx rooted, finally succeeded but after all that it makes you really appreciate the work developers put into the exploits. I am assuming since the phones are so new, that it will be a while. I was more just curious if it was POSSIBLE than asking for a time frame of when to expect one.
No, unless someone puts together a very BIG utility.
fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.
I would say with 99.999999999% confidence there will NEVER be a 1click root solution for the new Droid line...

At this point we will be lucky to see root again.

I honestly think I like doing the adb methods a lot more. Not only do you look cool doing it for friends (hahaha) but your also gaining the knowledge and practice of adb. I doubt we will ever see a one click again let alone another ROOT method since jcase announced he was done creating, but if we do. I personally hope for more methods that involve user interaction as I've learned ALOT this way.

At this point if you are looking for an easy root method you should be buying dev editions or nexus devices. Id be willing to bet the days of rooting consumer editions are just about done and gone.

Just got this phone the other day on a trip to the States. I'm on Bell in Canada, and was hoping to get it rooted when I got home all to find out its locked up tighter than a vault! Can't wait to see what's in store in the near future though.

*Sigh*

Starting to look pretty grim for the S5 being exploited. I am a blue blood Samsung user. After the original Moto Drold it's all I've run. Gotta have root and ROMability though... Starting to think I'll be moving to the HTC One M8 ... I'll feel so ... so ... dirty !!!

I hear ya, I've had the s5 for 2 weeks now and going through flash withdrawals. Just love the phone too much to go to HTC. I love Samsung like you do, hate HTC sense.

I believe it's only looking grim because there's been very few public updates on the situation. There are currently talented devs working hard to try and make this happen.

^^ Likely due to all the bickering and digressions...
Understand the frustration cause there are no updates at all. That's just the nature of rooting I guess.
When the 4s was being jailbroken at least we would get periodic updates via Twitter.
Have no doubt the s5 will be rooted though. The devs here are extremely talented. And rooting gets done way quicker than jailbrakes so it's relatively a short time if you look at it that way.
My 2 cents.
Paid 2 bounties for the HTC one and I will pay this one too.

I feel for you all too. Had a similar drought with the note 2. Not to boast, but I couldn't be happier with my choice with the m8. Loving the root and s off. Best of luck :good:

I agree. I'm 100% happy with my choice of switching to the M8. Great phone.
I also want to switch to m8 but camera is not good with m8, I guess I just gonna stick little longer with s5.
I've had little issue adjusting to no root with the S5 and am quite happy with the purchase.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk
I too, bit the bullet, and bought an M8. Which, except for the camera, I'm loving. Still keeping an eye out here, in hopes that the S5 finally gets cracked, but for now I can feed my flashing addiction, and cured my jones for a new phone.

I agree I think it is just a matter of time and patience for someone to figure it out. I can't switch to the m8 BC of the camera, the s5 camera is the best camera I have used on any device.

Same here, I'm totally happy with my S5. Yes root would be nice but I really dislike the M8. To me it's too long and clunky looking. Plus the camera isn't too good.

I'm back LOL. I traded in the Note 3 last week for another S5 and I'm here to stay this time. Root will come sooner or later. The good side of not having root is the phone must be pretty secure. No one has to worry about Kingo or Vroot stealing info or spying. I agree, the camera is great on this phone. I was having a tough time taking good pictures of my black dog with the N3 but they come out nice with the S5.

Yeah, I couldn't resist. My son picked up a S3 for Virgin Mobile the other day so I can still do some ROM making for him to keep me in the groove. No love loss for the N3 and the overstuffed pocket at all.

I agree, don't miss the size one damn bit! S3 is def a great device for flashing and ROM building.

The S5 is pretty cool even without root. Yes root would be nice but actually I'm enjoying the break from backing up then flashing and finally restoring.... lol..guess I'm in rehab right now.

If you guys wanna enjoy the S5 even more while we wait for root, i HIGHLY recommend to try a Gear 2 or gear 2 Neo. Guys believe me when i say that it GREATLY enhances the S5 experience. It is such an awesome companion device and in my opinion its totally worth the $200 bucks.

Root persuasion

I really want to root but the only thing im worried about is samsung pay because ill lose it forever after root unless someone comes up with a way to fix it. So those of you were maybe in the same position what made you say f*** it and root

Because I really don't care about Samsung Pay. I will take the ability to customize my phone how I want it over not having to open my wallet.
