What is a kernel?
In computing, the kernel is the main component of most computer operating systems; it is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level. The kernel's responsibilities include managing the system's resources (the communication between hardware and software components).

Hey, man awesome kernel. Unbricked my phone! Well mostly anyway. I'm having an issue when making and receiving calls, as whenever I make or receive a call CyanogenMod 13 just crashes and the phone reboots. I'm running the 8/16 stable snapshot. So far mobile data and cellular are working as I can receive text messages and browse the web but I just can't make any calls. On a less important side note, I can't make videos either, but the camera works when taking photos, front, and back. If you can fix this for me I'll make a donation. Thanks!

Thanks, first I would try updating to the newest nightly and see if that fixes any of your issues. Is your carrier GSM or cdma?

Okay so I updated to the latest nightly and the camera problem is fixed! However, receiving and making calls is still an issue and still reboots the entire device whenever I make or receive a call. Thanks for your time!

Possible for more govs? Thermal plugins? I really like the new govs.

Thanks, it works as expected, I don't know if this is the latest Nightly or the kernel, but battery life is very good.

So this is what I get when I go into SIM status. It looks like it's not recognising my phone number. Apart from that everything is fine. I hope this helps. Thanks!

Nope, I fixed it, I can now make and receive calls. All I had to do was set my phone number in the phone app and then set the phone app as the default calling app. Now it works like a charm! Thank you so much for your support!

I've just tested the USB connection and the MTP drriver problem on Windows 8.1 is gone, thanks for that.

Haven't tested but every kernel has been a no go for increasing the speakers...why is that? I had the m7 and viper used to be able to work for it but this phone(one m9(current)) no. Also can we get nightmare gov and a lot of the cool new govs? Also GCC compiled? Please touch back. I myself am a programmer but with no key tool to develop(laptop). Meh life.

Cool dev:thumbsUp:
I have the g2 and g3 and they was the best phone because dorminax always had like many govs to play with. I like adjusting individual cores with different govs but I don't think that is possible with this phone(not sure). Yeah GCC is great. Very fast and responsive. Not sure if its because of how the way it's compiled but very smooth. I used to not be able to affiliate with GCC because my google play store used to not work but this kernel says different. Yeah I'll donate if you get the internal speakers to modify. Hardest thing about this phone I swear. So much potential but restricted because of thermal config. I tried the thermal mod but still gets up to 60-80°c even without playing pokemon go.

This might help with temperature just play 5 games of clash Royale and temp didn't go above 39c also I'm using the impulse cpu governor

Hmmm I don't have the impulse gov but that's a gov I like. I can't wait for you to implement it into your kernel. Sorry I'm not around WiFi so I have to go walk 200 ft. Uhm my IRS channels don't work with my speakers. The mod itself works through headphones but speakers no. I tried xloud and it doesn't do anything through viperfx and the faux sound mod doesn't increase my speakers volume either. Sorry for not being specific. An flaw of mines:/

I've been updating little by little. I have impulse with a screen off policy and bioshock added just haven't released yet. I haven't used any sound mods yet trying to fix the stock audio first

This is a beta at the moment, because I only have a limited device pool and testing the app on friend's phones resulted in some workarounds. The app will be released on Play Store after the beta is over for a few bucks, but I will post new free, full featured and ad free versions here from time to time.

Plugin API:
If you want to add a plugin I have created a simple API available at Github. Feel free to message me here on xda, the g+ community or via the in app contact options. I will respond as soon as I can
So if you want to help, test it and if it crashes provide a logcat output of the error and some small description what you have done. Please post issues with the app like unexpected behaviour and last but not least if you find some spelling, grammar etc. mistakes, please post this too (english isn't my native language).
If you have any idea to further improve this app, please post it here too.
Changelog:

Can we have a dark theme on the next update please? I love it as it is but i would like it if it came with a dark theme too
Best app in recent times.
hope addition of much more feature
the app looks great and works great but I would like to use it as a replacement for stweaks.
is it possible to make the program read the costume kernel options like stweaks does?
Thanks for the feedback

I'm thinking about a way to add custom kernel tweaks for a long time without just implementing it directly in the app and so removing a potential income for kernel developers.
Tracking down this problem is the number one priority on my to do list.

Some developers are creating own apps to control these parameters. I was working on kernels too (way back in the htc desire and a bit in the Optimus 2x/G2x time) and instead of asking for donation, some developed a app to control these settings. These could buy you a drink for the work and the supporter got a nice app in return.
Implementing it for free would subvert a income for a developer. Ok some devs creating an app for free and don't take donations too. But others not and I don't want to piss anybody off. So I'm thinking about a extremely easy to programm plugin interface (think of it as DashClock extensions). I'm not sure how good it will be possible nor if it's possible at all, but I will work on it and I hope I will find a way.
(Plus it saves me a lot of nerves. Implementing this stuff and testing it on every device with min and max values, possible steps etc. I would call this a pretty severe pita.)
Update 4:
Fixed threading issues
fixed some more force closes
fixed the spinner issue (setting a item without a change by the user)
DashClock extension
Have fun

Im still not getting it. Apps like stweaks and extweaks do exactly what i am talking and are avilable for free in the app store and i dont see any kernel devloper being angry. Also there is no need to implement steps and values since they are all contained in the kernel itself (perhaps in xml format or something close)
dam i just downlaoded and installed build 3!!! :L will update now :L

Nope. Everything ist hard coded in the apps. Like which values are possible, what is the safe range of a parameter (vibration strength could kill your vibration motor up if bad programmed). There are a huge number of custom parameters in every custom kernel. I could only support selected interfaces on selected devices like trickster mod. I don't want to do this. This is plain pita and I would neglect a huge device base.
Instead I will create a extension which other developers can use and add the parameters with save values etc. This is imo way better than to hardcode everything in one app.

Features of android 4.4 kitkat

since cyanogenmod 11 is released and it has android kitkat so here are the new features incorporated in android 4.4 kitkat
(android 4.4 is optimized for improving the performance on devices with 512 MB RAM or less. The entire UI is going to get smoother.)
1.UI improvement and redesign in apps-the apps like email and downloads are streamlined.the status and navigation bars go translucent.
2.improvement in google now-google now is 25% more accurate and will give u precise results with ur questions.cards for local shopping have been added.
3.SMS app is a part of hangouts-with hangouts u get three options- SMSs, MMSs and GTalk chats.emoji icons are incorporated in stock keyboard.
4.CALLER ID gets smarter-priority will be given to contacts with whom u talk the most.local listing on google maps will be used for recognizing numbers.
5.quickoffice default app for document reading and editing-quickoffice is integrated with android 4.4 just as iWork suite in apple devices.
6.voice control is always on-android kitkat incorporates always-on voice control that allows users to send text messages, locate places on google maps, play songs.
7.SCREEN RECORDER-u get to record anything u do on ur phone and save it in mp4 format.it is very useful for creating tutorials.
8.addition for support of cloud printing-the new version of android adds support for cloud printing.the limitation is that google cloud Print function is limited to the HP ePrint range and printers that have apps in the play store marketplace.
9.step counting-fitness freaks rejoice! Android 4.4 comes with a function called Moves that operates as a pedometer that counts your steps. google says this is a battery friendly way to measure your daily activity level.
SOURCE-TOI
ART is also one of the novelties of the new android
could you post the link of this rom

It was the same as releasing a rom once every two months with only one bug fix or sometimes nothing at all.
At least there was an improvement everyday.

Well programming is not easy, maybe for you. Sometimes you will fix a certain things but at the same you accidentally broke something without knowing. Fixing and breaking is normal unless you are a perfect human that can code flawlessly.
And i dont see any wrong idea about attracting users to your site with ads, it is a site it was meant to be visited. And no one force you to download the file every release.

AcDisplay is a new way of handling notifications in Android.
It will inform you about new notifications by showing a minimal, beautiful screen, allowing you to open them directly from the lock screen. And if you want to see what's going on, you can simply take your phone out of your pocket to view all the latest notifications, in a similarly pleasing and minimalistic manner.

Active display as an installable app huh? =] Cool!
I haven't seen it in action apart from the test notification so I don't have a whole lot of feedback yet. Interestingly enough, the test notification worked the first time I tried it, then I restarted and tried it again but it just turned the screen off I believe.
Also, is there supposed to be anything in the settings area? It's blank for me.
Thanks for your hard work! I look forward to it's progress =]

If,possible make it for 4.2+.
try now :good:
Please make for lower android version....(4.1.2). Thanks in advance
Hello me!! Its me again!!
i really like it ,just like i like omni's roms
This was my favorite feature on a cherry picked AOKP ROM I was running on my GS4. However it doesn't seem to be correctly working on my n5. Display only shows up for a brief second. When do Tue notifications appear? For example they would appear on active display if I pulled the phone out of my pocket.

I know why does it show only for a moment... Well, let's hope the next version will fix it. What's Tue?
Tue meant to be "the"
I'm very excited for that to get fixed as I love active display and would love to use this! Assuming it doesn't harm battery like you state!

[APP][4.1+][T-Mobile] WiFi Calling Controls (Widget, Locale, Tasker)

Code:
*** Disclamer
This application is in no way affiliated with or supported by T-Mobile/Movial.
WiFi Calling Controls
Introduction
Control the T-Mobile WiFi Calling feature programmatically with a Locale plugin compatible app, such as Tasker, Locale, or Llama! Use this plugin to only enable WiFi calling when you are at certain locations, potentially saving battery life, improving call quality, and reducing the Cell->WiFi handover delay. Monitor the state of WiFi calling to trigger actions when WiFi calling is enabled/disabled!
If that sounds too complicated for your liking, there is also a widget for the quick and easy toggling of WiFi Calling!
Samsung users MUST install this as a system app. This requires root!
This will ONLY work with T-Mobile phones that have the WiFi Calling app already installed!

Thanks a lot for this. I'll test this later tonight or tomorrow on my Samsung Note 3.
Can't open Google+ at work. Can you post a direct apk/play store link on the OP?

Unfortunately there is a known issue with recent Samsung devices (including the Note 3). T-Mobile uses Samsung's built-in IMS system instead of Movial's for wifi calling, so it will take some time and effort to reverse engineer that as well. The good news is that I have ordered a Samsung device and hopefully will be able to use it to test my app. Give me one or two weeks to get this working, please!
I was also trying to avoid posting apks on here since the app is still very much a beta and will change frequently, but I will absolutely post one when I am getting close to releasing! The play store link is in the beta G+ group.
Thanks!
Now released to the public, with Samsung compatibility!

Sorry, right now I have no plans to add sprint compatibility. I have neither a sprint device nor a sprint plan, so it would be really hard for me to develop that. This app is open source though, so there is always the chance another developer could do it!
YES
I was searching for an app to do exactly this. Went to download for my Xperia Z1s on the Play Store and it says it is not compatible. Downloading the apk now to test it out. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear it! Please let me know if it works, I can add your phone to the list of compatible phones on the play store. I actually think it should work fine.
edit: Actually I'm just going to disable the device compatibility filter and only filter it by T-Mobile

Haven't tried it with Tasker yet, but the widget works perfectly. Haven't used Tasker in about 2-3 years (at that time I thought it was bogging down my phone), but think I'm going to revisit the app soon - the phones are so much quicker now. I'll report back once I try it on tasker. Thanks for a truly great app.

Awesome, thanks. Now I can keep up on the play store.
I have loaded the Wifi Calling Controls on my LG G3 and it works great, however if I have the Wifi Calling Controls state as part of the profile I have noticed that Tasker doesn't see the State until after the monitor is restarted.
Example: In my Profile IF (Wifi Connected to HomeWifi AND WiFi Calling Controls On) THEN (Stop Wifi Calling) However in the Log the profile stays active until either I'm no longe conntect to my HomeWifi, or Monitor is reset. This issue also persists when my other Profile to turn on Wifi Calling should run, but Tasker sees WiFi Calling Controls as On while the Controls are actually Off.
I have gotten around this issue by not using Wifi Calling State in my Profiles, however I don't like it when Tasker continues to check if I'm connected to the HomeWifi. This also causes my phone to heat up and eat batteries.
Possible fixes:
1) How can I restart Monitoring as part of the Task? If I can do that then when tasker Starts or Stops Wifi Calling I could reset Monitoring, so the Wifi Calling State registers properly.
2) Get monitoring to properly see the Wifi Calling State without restarting Monitoring.
Thanks,
David
This app works great on my LG G4 until it upgrades to MM. Now, it will crash when switching from one profile to another. Any update on this app?

Keep your eye open for an update this weekend. I have fixed the issue with G4 MM as well as the wifi calling state bug on the G3/G2 that @othercents mentioned earlier. Sorry for the lack of updates, guys! S6 compatibility hopefully on it's way soon as well.
Hi,
Is this project still alive? If it is I was wondering if error status could be detected in the future (not just on/off status) as TMO's wifi calling is temperamental, at best...

A bit confuse here,
If google play service is restricted, is it still able to get update, as far as I know play service update is always automatic especially on stock?

Never seen this wakelock on any of my devices running various stock/custom ROMs based on Android 4.4, 5.1, 6.0 and 7.1 - most with a relative recent build of Google Play Services, Framework and 'core' apps. I wonder if this nasty was quietly addressed by Google in the intervening two years since being reported.
I have seen 'flat line' wake scenerios depicted in the referenced source article but that's typically associated with a borked GAaps install or currupt caches.

You probably won't see it on most recent android versions, i currently checking the latest Google play services app to for more of those services.

well, you might be surprised but my quoted "SystemUpdateservice"-wakelock is indeed the full name of that Google Play service.
Package Name: Google Play Services
Version: 10.2.98 (036-146496160)
Full Name (Path): CmaSystemUpdateService
Edit: Hmm, sorry I probably was wrong (
ok here they are: (took the full name of the App Disable Services)
com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService
and here is another one that was hiding:
com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateGcmTaskService
However, I dont get why there is no "Cma" being claimed in this name. Confusing

Yep - might still be there on older devices/ROMs that have not see a full Play Services and/or Framework update. My range of ROMs (4.4.4-7.1) suggests that by itself isn't a good indicator. I suspect the update service(s) fire on occasion but immediately exit. As personal practice I do not block/stop/limit anything that does not carry an undesirable consequence. Too many sour experiences that aren't immediatlely obvious.

Many background services quietly 'sleep' until summoned in response to a wakelock, broadcast receiver, etc. If the service determines there is nothing to do it goes back to 'sleep'. I have little concern over such items as they consume few resources. Some get fussed over reported memory usage but Android effectively manages that and only becomes a problem on older hardware with limited RAM (eg: <1GB) and pokey NAND. The low memory flag usually addresses that.
