HELP NEEDED. stuck in bootloop after editing build.prop file. (gt-s7562) - Samsung Galaxy S Duos

This is my first ever use of any forum. So plz sry if i am posting this thread in the wrong place/discussion!!
I had a samsung galaxy s duos(gt-s7562). i rooted it about 2-3 years back. a few days back i tried to edit my build.prop file using es file explorer. It did work but after my work was done i made the mistake of copy-pasting the backed up file.(i had made a general copy-type backup of the file.) When i tried to reboot my phone it got stuck at the samsung screen.(maybe a bootloop.)
I can go to the recovery mode by pressing volume, home and power button. But it is the android system recovery. No cwm.
How can i get it back to life??!!
I have another s duos phone which i am currently using to write this thread. I thought of rooting this phone and then using its nandroid backup to restore my first phone. But as told, there is no custom recovery on that. And usb debugging is also off.
Can i use odin to install cwm recovery on my phone withou usb dedebugging. And is there any other easier method to recover my soft bricked phone.
Please help.

[Q] Another method to root UCLB3 gingerbread update

After many many days and countless hours ive found a easier way to root UCLB3 2.3.6 gingerbread ATT official update. i have tried this on two different phones with success (HOWEVER TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE. IM JUST SIMPLY STATING WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME ON TWO DIFFERENT PHONES ONE BEING MY WIFES AND THE OTHER MY SONS.) Ok this is what i learned. The Captivate Glide and the Infuse are near identical in build properties, boot sequences and partitions. they were close enough for me to try this and it worked. OK follow the steps just as listed... I did this on a windows 7 pc so i am not sure about any others.
1. Download and save CWM recovery tar to your pc.
2. Download the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip from below and copy it to your phone via the usb cable. (you will need it in a few moments)
3. Make sure the proper drivers for your phone is installed on your pc. if not visit samsung mobile website download page for your device and download and install them.
4. Download and install Odin 1.85 if you do not already have it.
Ok thats all you need so now lets proceed with what you need to do. again follow these steps exactly or dont cry to me if it dont work.
1. make sure usb debbugging is checked on your phone.
2. turn phone off.
3. right click the odin file you downloaded earlier and click run as administrator.
4. put phone in download mode by pressing both volume up and down and power button while pluuging the phone via the usb in the computer.
5. once in download odin should recognize your phone if you took the time to make sure you had the right drivers for your phone. when odin recognizes your phone you will see a yellow com in the first window.
6. make sure repartition is NOT checked.
7. click the pda button and navigate to where you saved the cwm.tar file on your pc and select it.
8. then click go.
9. when done you will see the yellow box turn blue and say pass. if not you will see a red box that says fail. in that case go back and folow every step but do not unplug your phone from the pc until you see a blue pass. when flashing you will see it say recovery image dont panic this is normal.
10. after you get a blue pass and have successfully installed clockwork recovery reboot the phone into recovery mode by holding both volume up and down and press power untill you see the att logo then release the power button only.
11. once in recovery mode you will see install update from sd card. arrow down to that and press the power to select it. navigate to where you saved the superuser zip file at on your phone and select it. you may have to do this 3 or 4 times but keep doing it it will eventually root the phone and push superuser. one phone it took 3 tries and the other 4 tries.
12. when it installs succesfully reboot phone and make sure superuser is installed.
13. go to google market and down load two apps. one busybox install it, the other rom manager. install busybox first then rom manager.
14. open rom manager then click fix permissions. do not skip this. if you do dont wine to me about any apps that dont work any more or any force closes you may get.
and thats it. enjoy. as i said this worked for me twice with no problems but those are the exact steps i did and it worked for me....
hummmm?

nooby: can not update from zip file GT-P5110 4.0.4

I'm new with android.
I like to try it and put my Apple days behind me.
Never had a problem with 'rooting' it. But it’s time for something new.
I bought a Samsung TaB2 10.1 GT-P5110
After reading ( a lot ) on forums and google-ing youtube walkthroughs, I wanted to start the rooting process.
First problem ... the tablet is new but already updated to 4.0.4.
I don’t think I can undo that :-/
So I used Odin3-v1.85_3.zip and the file "GT-P5110_ClockworkMod-Recovery_5.5.0.4.tar"
All went fine but then i had to root it.
Getting into "download mode" wasn’t easy.
I think my mistake was that I have to do this immediately after I used ODIN and rebooted the tablet.
But l’ll try that later.
The real problem is that I don’t have the choice in the menu "install zip from" sdcard
im reading the toppic "[How To] ROOT- Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 [GT-P5113 / 5100 / 5110 & 4.0.4 UPGRADE or OEM".
The menu i get :
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume uo/down to move highlight:
power button to select
reboot system now
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
This is NOT the CWM menu
I can see the external drive and can click on the file CWM-root-gtab2a.zip if i use "apply update from external storage" but it gives an error.
There is a link with "workaround at post 325. " but i dont know what to do.
The "workaround" is not for newbies i gues ?
ok.i read someware that the "Android system recovery <3e>" is not the CWM menu
Originally Posted by notoriousB

Now i can update the "CWM-root-gtab2a.zip" file.
Next step would be => go to CWM => backup BEFORE you chance anything.
I can only go in the CWM menu if i do ALL the steps again.
Gonna try this this evening.
Thanx in advance
rooting help
Okay, Im not an expert, but I've rooted several android devices before. Some steps that i go through to make sure that everything will go smoothly are:
0. Check the forums first with a search to see if the topic hasn't been answered before. READ EVERYTHING CAREFULLY. Most mistakes are usually user error. If you don't understand what you are doing, maybe you shouldn't doing it. Or you need to read up on it more.
1. Make sure that i have the absolutely appropriate packages to do what i intend to.
2. Make sure my Samsung drivers are up to date. You can install them with Kies or install them separately link in a development topic about rooting and so.
3. Download mode is accessed by powering off the tablet and holding volume down and the power button. Connect your tablet after you've set up the basics (pda file is correct for rooting, recovery, etc)
4. Go over everything and look for the right signs fora completed operation (PASS!, GOOD!, etc.)
5. Recovery mode is accessed by powering off the tablet and holding volume up and the power button. If you don't see the gear and top hat, chances are that you don't have the clockworkmod recovery successfully flashed. Try it again and if it still doesn't work, be as clear as you can with your next post why it doesn't.
I've the same model p5110 with 4.0.3 ICS build WALD2 and I've rooted and flash several times from stock to Rom to stock again. It's never easy the first time, but you'll get the hang of it soon.:good:
I am working on this just like you. I have rooted my phone but trying to root my p5113. The menu you are getting is the android stock recovery menu. When you reboot after rooting you cannot allow to boot up all the way or it will overwrite the cwm recover. So while you are rooting and it reboots, quickly unplug it and hold the power and left/volumn down key. That should do the trick
Yep,
Got it working.
Can manualy instal progs.
But im not sure im going keep this tablet yet.
Its a verry good tablet but,... maybe its because im an iphone user, and im used to cydia..
Keeping it for at least 1 month more before i decide.
Strange ,... there is no tomtom or garmin gps program ?
Are you guys using CyanogenMod ?
Dont see the point yet for using it.
Its fun using android do (boys and there toys ;-o )
a while later...

Greetings;
Have you solved your problem?
If not, tell me what Android version are you running on your device?
i.e: Gingerbread; Ice Cream Sandwich; Jelly Bean or KitKat.
Assuming you are running stock firmware i believe that either your brother flashed a wrong CF-Root for your device or used an application that could not root your device properly.
Either ways don't worry since your device can enter both Download and Recovery modes, it means that you can debug it.
[Rooting]
The best way to root this device is by flashing CF-Root file.
By flashing this file (CF-Root) you will be installing:
- ClockWork Mod Recovery
- Script that will root (automatically) your device.
- ext4 application. (do some research to know what ext4 is and how it os often used)
Small note: Since you will be rooted you will be able to overclock or underclock your device as well increase your device performance and battery duration.
Just PM me or do some research if you need some info regarding these configuration and settings.
[Fixing your issue]
Download Universal CF-Root here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056
Read the instructions before proceeding.
Now boot your device under Download Mode.
To do so:
Unplug USB Cable, Power Off your device and press the following key combination:
Vol.Down + Menu/Home Button + Power Button.
Release when the device enters download mode.
Now open Odin.
Under [PDA] load the CF Root File you've downloaded.
(Do NOT change any options inside odin if you dont know what they are for. Or you may get your device useless).
Put down your device so movement is done into the USB Cable (just to prevent bad flashing when you have low quality USB Cable).
Press Start and let the operation to complete.
Odin will display a message saying: "Pass" highlighted with Green.
Check if your device restarts (it may not restart yet)
If your device boots properly backup your data and follow the next step. If it doesnt boot properly follow to the next step.
Voot your device into recovery mode.
To do so: Power off your device and make sure it is not charging or connected to USB cable.
Then press and hold the following key combination:
Vol. Up + Menu/Home Button + Power Button.
Release after the Boot Logo is shown and you will enter recovery mode.
Now you will perform a Factory Reset.
Inside CWM select by the following order:
- Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Clean Cache
- Factory Reset
Note that Dalvik Cache is not shown at the main menu.
I dont remember the location exactly but if im not mistaken you can find it under "Advanced".
After you perform these 3 options the device shall reboot properly.
(it may take a little bit longer this time. Just be patient).
Since i dont know what was done to your device, there is still a chance that your device wont boot.
Either ways please let me / us (at XDA) know if it worked for you.
It is important (at least for me as a quality standard) that you are able to repair your device.
Best Regards
Please press thank button if this helped you. Since this will keep me motivated to continue helping.

Thanks for your reply. Frankly speaking I don't remember which Android version I was using may be Gingerbread (Is this important)
I downloaded "bagaria-09.GT-I9003_PDA.tar" from the link given by you and following procedure that you have mentioned. After odin says "Pass" I switched off my mobile and started in Recover mode it took around 15-20 mins to show recovery option. after this performed
- Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Clean Cache
- Factory Reset
and then Reboot. As you said phone is stucked on boot image for more than 15 mins then an loop on "SAMSUNG" logo after more 15 mins phone is showing "kernel panic upload mode"
Can you help me further?

Hello amoghs;
Again sorry for answering after so long; I'm not so often at XDA Lately.
Yes.
1st: Try Remove the Battery, then Put it Back and Try Again.
If this doens't Work:
1) Turn your Device Off and Press:
Vol. UP + Home Button + Power (To Enter CWM / Your Recovery Mode)
2) Select: "Factory Reset"
Let me know how it worked for you.
Note:
- After Flashing a ROM it is Normal that your Device Takes a little Longer to Boot on the "1st" time.
- Phone Stuck on Boot Logo and Looping: Boot Issues (Either Requires to Remove and Place Back the Battery; or Re-Flash the ROM or Stock Rom in a Difficult Stage).
Notes:
- After a Flash Perform a Factory Reset (To Clean Up Old Stuff).
- If you Experience: "Kernel Panic":
a) Remove Battery and Place it Back - (Works on Most Cases)
b) Flash your ROM again and DO NOT Instal Custom Kernel (May be Wrong Kernel or Bad/Incompatible Kernel Programming)
c) Phone Restarts by Himself: Reflash ROM, Try MinFreeManager or Similar APK (Application). Try "Optimal" Settings. (I dont recall the Presets names - But you can Safely test them - Even if device gets stuck. You can always revert to previous state).
d) Any Hard-to-Solve Issues: Just do a "Clean Flash" of STOCK Gingerbread (Check Sammobile Website - Invalid Download Links Just send email to Support Requesting the File)
or Flash "DDLF2 2.3.6 (Also Gingerbread). But always try Stock 1st to remove most issues, and only then Flash your Desired ROM.
Also if you haven't fixed the Boot Issue already: Do note that you can recover your device Boot.
NOT Dead Yet!
Please do let me know if you solved your Boot problem.
Best Regards;
Richard

ROOT SM-T210R SIMPLE and Easy, 8gb, White

Okay so I've been at it for days and i mean like months.... when I first bought my 8 gb white Samsung galaxy tab 3 Kernel 3.4.5, android 4.1.2, model JZ054K.T210RUEAMK1 and all i have been running into is problems, like jittery display issues, or flickering display, I tried every method but none has worked but i finally found one and got it all working and running, First of all i would like to thank gr8nole for this method, and all who have helped him. So first let me explain the most easiest explanation for dummies like me, or noobs
Just and example video for visual learners http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XolmtyvS3Yk&feature=youtu.be, but you want to click on the files i suggested on the bottom lol not what he has on his screen xD
Must Have: KIES, make sure you have fully updated rom from samsung themself which can be found on kies when you plug it in and update firmware, which your android should be on 4.1.2 and version because that's what i have
1. First lets Get all the files we need, First go download SM-T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip at his xda post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433853, after you have download that you will a friend name odin, which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539 (With odin you only want to use v3.07) and nothing else , Last but not least you want this file from gr8ole android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip and save that to your sd card or ext while click on usb debugging or w.e you wanna store in on tablet
so you should have odin 3.07
T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip
android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip
2. Use the same method as g8nole and minor adjustments
Instructions:
1. Download ODIN on your computer (just do a google search to find it...version 3.07 will work fine). http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2189539
2. Power off the device.
3. Restart in "Download Mode" by holding the "HOME" button, "Volume Down" and "Power" all at the same time (for about 5 seconds).
4. Hit the "Volume Up" to enter download mode.
5. Start the ODIN exe program using admin rights which means right click run as admin. I recommend un-checking Auto Reboot. DO NOT CHECK RE-PARTITION LEAVE UNCHECKED YOU BEEN WARNED (which it already should be). See notes about ODIN below.
6. Connect the device via USB to your computer. Verify the device shows as "Added" in the Message box. If it doesn't show then you need the Samsung USB drivers (just install KIES to get them) which can be found here http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/.
7. Select "PDA" then choose the T210.CWM.6.0.4.5.recovery.tar.zip.
8. Hit "START"
9. Wait for device to restart. Which means wait til odin says OKAY in the white box and the Picture ask you to reset, When the download icon under download updates is full bar, and odin says reset!, just unplug it. then restart by holding the power button down, with vol up, and home, once the samsung picture shows, only hold the up vol button, recovery mode should now be on. Select install zip, and locate the android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip)navigate with the up down volume button and power button to select) file, whichever you placed in sd, or exsd,
10. When all is done reboot device, then it will update your android once you turn it on, Now the anoying part, It will be rooted but what google play won't connect?, easy fix , first lets just update all the binaries since its already rooted in supersu app,
Google Store Fix, now first you have to delete your some things, your apps wont dissapear or nothing as long as you dont uinstall them, go to settings<application manager<all<google play store<clear data/cache w.e<force stop<uninstall updates<it will then ask you it will be factory installed<yes, next step, delete your gmail account if you haven't done so, now go to your time settings (Date and Time) and change it to recent date whichever today is , then open play store and it will ask you to sign in again, blah blah google needs sign up and it should be up and running
ALL DONE, remember this is for people who have run into flicker display problems, which is caused by kernal issue with our model, but with stock rom itself we can universally root it through odin with just that simple method which took me like 3 mins lol to do
Grats guys! you have root and cwm now who doesn't want that enjoy and thanks to developers hard work! and my ambition!
this worked for my SM-T210 also. Thanks heaps for this how-to!
Ok my device is already rooted but I would like to install CWM Recovery on it. So I can make a backup. Or does anyone have the stock kernel for it

But you can also use Odin 3.09.
I'm portant is that you flash always the newest CWM / TWRP or PhilzTouch Version about the new updater scripts.

Your best option is to get CWM sknce it will be your original backup instead of a Rom created from another device.
SM-T2105?
Hello,
I came here beacause of a shorcut link given by @gr8nole and another member (I forgot sorry).
But my English must be to bad, i read and re-read, still don't find the answer...
I have the G Tab 3 kids model, SM-T2105.
@bierma32 says: "Important is that you flash always the newest CWM / TWRP or PhilzTouch Version"
Could you tell me wich one is the best, CMW or TWRP, plz? (the last I can find for T210 is CMW-6.0.4.9 and/or TWRP-2.8.2.0)
More important, do you know where I can find the zip of a rooted stock rom, including that 'kids' stuff? (SM-T2105). Or will I not loose the stock rom? Is there no wipe? Sorry, I don't understand.
I want to root, because of lack of space, and the rest.. but I don't want to loose that..
And the most important, "last but not least", I could not find the zip " android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip", so can you help me please, putting a mirror or so? Or could it work only with flashing a SuperSU zip? Not so easy, right?
As you maybe can read, I am a newbie in Android rooting. Or is there another way to do?
Thanks for reply.

No OS installed?

After flashing a volume mod, everything went to hell with my phone(stock rom)I for force closes on chrome/andora and i couldnt use my phone since i keep clicking ok to the fc's notification but they kept coming back.
so i decided to do a factory reset but i dont know what went wrong that now in recovery when i click reboot after the reset it says NO OS INSTALLED DO YOU WANT TO REBOOT?
does this mean i need to flash a new rom or what? I was on the stock rom and i kinda want to go back to that but i dont kno what went wrong
no os probs!

So you can get into recovery? if so did you make a backup before sound mod? I know tdunham was one of the gents that made the sound mod, not sure which one your using created by who? Tdunham has a restore file for volume if problems arise. so if your using his awesome mods you should send him message. If all else fails or you are jus lazy just odin the firmware file required for your phone. Everything will be the same as before jus not rooted so reroot with method you have used not sure when you got phone but I heard towel root doesn't trip knox.

i used a volume mod to remove the high volume notification
im thinking of odin the firmware but i dont want to lose my internal storage.
I cant make a backup because in recovery it tries to save to internal and i dont have space, i cant figure out how to make it go to sd card.

I would just restore firmware, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2742994, this a great place to have stickied, anything new gets posted here for sprint s5. Check your phone firmware first so you know which one to download, do this by going to settings, about phone, then scoll to bottom you should see one of these three firmwares ncb, nd2, ne5, you will want to find firmware file at top in link, if you cant find your firmware there, then go to sammobile.com, then download odin 3.09 from this link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539.

Not tryin to be rude jus curious if u were, i hope u can figure this out, i love my phone to death so i feel ur pain bro. Check firmware settings about phone scroll to bottom to find ur firmware. Oh if u do not have developer options activated while on same screen in settings in about phone click the build section seven times it will make developer options appear, then go into developer options which shows in your settings now and activate usb debugging, you this so u can interface with odin, and oh yeah our phones need to be in download mode to flash firmware, assuming u used towel root since u havent used odin yet?!?! You can get into download mode by pressing and holding volume down, home button and power button. Let me know bro!

well i cant boot phone so i cant check what firmware since recovery says no OS installed.
what is driving me crazy is my pc recognizes the phone but odin doesnt
i plug in phone the driver installs but then i get a message with modem failed intallation WTF?
this is the same pc i used to root
is there a way to do this WITHOUT using pc for example downloading a flashable file and do this all through recovery
also when i am in recovery and i press system boot i get a message that says YOUR DEVICE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ROOTED INSTALL SUPER SU SWIEPE TO INSTALL??
wtf happend , all i did was factory reset after a bad volume mod
im coming from an evo 4g and it seemed way simpler than this

Okay so u have no nandroids??? If not check the box your s5 came in they usually have the firmware it comes with printed on box. If you dont have that either, i would to jus download ne5 which the most recent firmware has new modem, still rootable, and it will put os back on your phone. After you do this make nandroid! They are your best friend!!!! Oh yeah odin isnt recognizing your phone because on samsung phones there is a download mode, with phone turned off, press volume down home button, and power all at same time keep holding till download mode iniates. It will say like loading custom os blah blah...press up on volume and presto odin is recognizing your phone.

As far as making your computer fully recognize and through ODIN(hope u pressed up button once in download mode makes odin recognize!) I would uninstall those old drivers, type into google s5 samsung drivers, prob doesnt mean a hoot but to just to be extra precise, download install new ones. Maybe try different odin 3.07 ....and when u run odin make sure u are extracting package if zip and right click program once extracted and run a administrator. No need to touch any settings once in ODIN besides loading firmware. Fell asleeo sorry for late response.
Download and install cnexus stock rom from the dev section. That should get you running again.
Do you have twrp? Sounds like you wiped the system instead of doing a factory reset.

well i couldnt get odin to recognize phone in download mode. I deleted drivers and rebooted but i always get samsung usb modem failed. and When i do manage to get in to install, it still doesnt show up in odin(.09 and 3.07) and in device manager there is a yellow triangle in samsung modem.
I will try to uninstall everything and delete samsung registry keys as i saw something in google that it might help.

Hit thanks by accident. Yes it should work although I haven't done it on the S5. Once you get a computer working you can use odin 3.09 and flash my full tar no data file. This will get you up to full NE5 without wiping data.

It depends on where you are now. If you are ND2 now then by flashing the Rom (system) you are only bringing your system up to NE5. To get all of the other firmware up to NE5 you need to do it with Odin on a computer. Because some of the firmware won't update using Mobile Odin.
If you are already on NE5 then you don't need to do anything else after installing the rom from recovery.

This may sound stupid, but at the expense of stating the obvious, are you using the original usb charger cable that came with your phone to connect to your pc. If not, you should. I had this problem 2 phone generations ago, I thought I had bricked my phone. Use the original cable. All other usb cables are a Crap shoot.
