Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place. Just wondering if anyone's managed to use custom boot animations on the s7 edge. Thanks in advance

There's no way until you ask some developer to change the whole firmware to do it. And why do you want to change the logo??? It's useless... You also don't even need to change the animation, live the beauty of the phone within not by looking at its boot animation...

There's no such file with this text "Samsung Galaxy Core GT-I8262" that you can change it...
It must be in framework.res or somewhere deeper..

Hi. I have no idea of how your partitions are named but botlogo on samsung devices is usually hidden in param.lfs / param.bin, or something like that. If not, then it's probably inside bootloader.
Its in the ramdisk.. change the initlogo.rle

Ok. Question is, is that the one that is being used? I thought Samsung stopped using ramdisk for logo a long time ago.

It should be.. I dont see any other reason to put a initlogo.rle in there.. but still I would check in the kernel sources and confirm it to you.

Samsung is funny in that way. They seem to add stuff that is not even used :laugh
I know devices which have a param.bin with all bootlogos inside, but still they are not in use. Images is being called in bootloader instead, just as the param.lfs work (bootloader image cache partition).
Anyway, you don't have to look it up for my cause. I don't own this device myself but was only trying to get OP some directions on where it can be found based on my own experiance on bootlogo mods.
There are a couple of links to posts I'd like to share. One is to the Galaxy S5 themes and apps site and one to Galaxy S6 Edge. Both sites include some really nice generic Samsung bootanimations made by pas2001. pas2001 is a gentleman and really great guy. Please forgive the condition of the Galaxy S5 post. I am the op and really didn't know what I was, or am, doing, ha, ha. He was too busy at the time so I said I would do it. There are bootanimations scattered throughout.

Well correct me if I'm wrong but we cannot change our bootanimation since our bootloader is locked.
I say delete thread

How is that when even in the edge thread in the first post it says you must have a custom recovery?

You can flash via flashfire or put the files in manually and reboot.

Hi! I am looking to restore the boot animation to the stock one (or anything besides the ugly carrier one). Thank in advance for the help!
Maybe someone can guide me on what are the names of the files of the boot animation.
I'll download an stock rom and extract the files.
Thanks

I just find this file and flash it and it works just fine.
I recommend to back up the original files before flashing
