So Samsung has had their 256gb cards out for a while now and offered them free with the Note 7 if you chose to get one. It looks like Sandisk has silently added a 256gb card to their offerings as well (It is only available as a pre-order right now on 2 websites if you check it out on Sandisk.com.
There were rumors of some strange company offering a 512gb card that never surfaced and people wrote them off, I am really surprised that Samsung does not have a 512gb card in production yet...... Does anyone have any word on 512gb cards for our Note 7's yet?
With xfat and the Micro SDXC Standard....... cards up to 2TB should be possible.

I purchased a 512GB card from Ali Express for my Note 4. I figured I would try it in my Note 7 and it is fully compatible.
I'd be weary of buying any microsd that isn't a samsung, sandisk, micron, intel, nanya, elpidia, or the new other nand fabrication conglomerates. A 512 from an off brand is risky unless you know who is fabbing those chips. Figure if the market leaders don't have the product yet... is it true?

You may want to test it at some point to load full capacity. Sometimes sketchy or counterfeit cards will list higher capacity than they have, the only way to test is to completely fill the card.

Sandisk, Samsung, PNY, Crucial and Kingston are the only brands I trust for any of my memory needs. You've gotta watch out for the scams... Amazon sells a "Sandusk" that on first sight looks just like a Sandisk.
Honestly, these cards are all slow. The only good cards are the Sandisk Extreme Pro or Samsung Pro Plus which both peak around 90/80 r/w. These standard 200gb and more cards barely manage to go above 30-40mb write speed. No idea who needs to carry around 256gb of data on a Smartphone, but most people I guess would prefer faster cards than just big..

If anybody, Samsung should be first to market with 512 GB cards, they have fabs capable of highest density memory chips ATM, as far as I know. But popularity of sd cards is not growing as fast as it should, even Samsung, who is one of the biggest memory makers dropped SD support in Galaxy S6 line and brought it back now in S7 line only after big consumer outcry (myself included). Probably need to wait couple yrs.

Hey guys,
got my new SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC (Class 2) Card yesterday and it is performing great so far.
But before that, I'd like to warn you that there are tons of fake cards floating around.
I bought a 32GB Card one week ago and it turned out to be fake:
h**p://img517.imageshack.us/img517/6867/unbenannt3kj.jpg
I've tested to write the full capacity to the card but apparently this card only holds up to 1,9GB.
DON'T BUY FROM EBAY OR OTHER "SMALL BUSINESS SHOPS" You'll most likely get a fake card.
Really pissed after this experience I decided to buy from a reliable computer shop and spend more money and received my 32GB Card yesterday, and what can I say? It's better than I expected for a Class 2 card.
Check out the results here:
h**p://img155.imageshack.us/img155/4060/s32gbsdhc.jpg
As you can see, this card is genuine and you can write up to ~30GB to it.
The write speed with 5,21mb/s is pretty good for a Class 2 Card. Also the read speed is quite decent with 14 mb/s
This is more than sufficient for HD video recording and all the other things you'd wanna do with your Galaxy S.
I didn't expierence any lags with my phone using this card. Switching between photos, music etc.... all goes very smoothly.
Here's also a HDTune (3.50) shot for you guys interested in the read iops:
h**p://img85.imageshack.us/img85/1818/s32gbsdhc2.jpg
Verdict: All things considered, I think this card performs fairly well without slowing down my Galaxy S. Watching tons videos/photos, listening to a huge music library and not having to worry about storage is really great.
The only downside of this card is the price (I've paid 108€) but considering the fact that the iPhone with 32GB is bloody expensive and with this card you would have up to 40GB of storage on your Galaxy S, this card is really a bargain and I fully recommend it.
That's great! I'm also considering to buy one the 16gb class4 version, but it seems difficult to find in Europe.

also the 32gb is somewhat less than 32gb in true storage size

I've bought it in Germany (ARLT Computer).
talking about memory and disk stuff,
32GB=32.000.000.000 bytes
wich is, 30517,58 MB or 29,80 GB
this is for the simple fact
a 8GB hard disk contains 8.000.000.000 bytes
a 8GB ram stick contains 8*1024*1024*1024=8589934592 bytes
That's a lot of cash considering a non-fake Toshiba Class 2 16gb is currently selling for £17.99 delivered in the UK?
€108 equates to about £90!
32GB cards are currently considerably more expensive than 2 x 16GB cards.
Where's the deal on that 16GB in the UK btw...?
So you can use micro SD HC cards with the galaxy s? I was told that you had to use an adapter because the device only has a micro SD slot? Sorry if this is a silly question, i haven't really dealt with external flash storage that much apart from my old sony ericsson walkman phone which used stick pro duo or something like that.

Yea, it doesn't lag; at least there is nothing what I would describe as "laggy".
It does take some time to load 100s of photos on the gallery app, but I think this is quite normal.
At least if I view a hires picture, it opens up near instantly. Switching between pics and focusing also happens very quickly.
I'm happy with it so far. Having used this card for more than two months I don't have any complaints at all and I fully recommend it.
How is 720p hd recording with the card? Try it and see if the recorded video is stuttering. Ty.

I would completely avoid using ebay for SD cards! They are alot cheaper but you will be lucky to get a genuine card, Ive heard that over 90% are fake. Often you will be lucky to get 2GB on a card and it will probably break within a week.
"This is a brand 16GB Class 10 Micro-SD memry card and comes supplied with a full sized SDHC adaptor and comes in a memory card case with no other retail packaging. All of our memory is 1000% genuine. This 16GB memory cards use Intel memory chips.
Please note: printing on the memory card may differ slightly from our image."
wow 1000% genuine. that's a whole 10x more genuine than an actual genuine one!
I might be cynical but if the seller uses bad English and grammar in his advert I would be careful! Also if they are genuine cards why would the printing differ?
Best spending a little extra and buying from a trustworthy website.
I am using a patriot class 10 16gb off amazon for £26 which I'd recommend without hesitation
The joyflash one looks more legitimate as they are a known company.
However that patriot one just posted is cheaper.
What difference do the brands make I know sandisk and kingston are the best known, but what differences is there between them 2 and the joyflash and patriots?
I've used Sandisk, Kingston and a couple of other ones in my desire HD and best one I have found so far is Lexor 16gb class 4 , quite fast for copying files, HD video records without stuttering and for £14.99 off play it was a bargain
Remember that class speeds are a minimum, known brands are more likely, in my experience, to understate the class thus you know a sandisk class 6 card is going to be a fair bit faster than a no make class 6
I've got a 16 GB SanDisk microSD Card in my DHD.
It's reliable, cheap and the speeds are descent.
I would post you a link to amazon.com, but it looks like I am not allowed to do this right now with my few posts^^

I'm using one of these and for 30 Euro you will hardly get anything better. Don't expect any super performance though, it performs exactly as advertised: ~11MB/s write speed.
Why do you need such fast sd cards? How oftern do you plan on transfering large files in a hurry? Personally when I transfer something from my phone I just leave it charging while it does it. What's the hurry? You can still use your phone while it's doing it.

I would hazard a guess it's more about apps2sd and dalvik2sd. Whilst I personally think that on this phone apps2sd is something that isn't worth bothering with, if you are then you want the fastest card you can get to avoid lag.
I forget who said it but I saw recently the comment "you all moaned when you had no internal storage so we got 1GB now no one wants to use it".
I agree though Dave, when I'm doing SD backups to PC I use it as an excuse to grab yet another brew.

I started out with a Sandisk 64gb ultra and it kept unmounting randomly every so often. I got sick of it (and tried all of the tricks, formatting as FAT etc,etc.etc.still issue)- especially after losing some pics and vids of my son's school awards.
I ended up going with a samsung 64.
I think sandisk is generally good, I've not had any other issues with their cards/flashdrives -so, it could have just been a bad one.
I did get it from Amazon and ended up returning it and got the samsung 64gb instead.
I've have had no issues whatsoever with the Samsung.
Samsung all the way. Using 64gb here, no problems. Just format it in your phone before use and all should be well.
No disrespect to sandisk. But i feel a sammy product would work on point with a sammy device. Good luck

It may be cheap but not worth the loss of data if you load on too much at once etc. Anyone know anywhere I can get a genuine SanDisk a bit cheaper or like I said, is it a case of if you want quality you have to pay top dollar? Thanks in advance.

I had a Sandisk (32GB) and it got fried. Returned it under warranty as I had it under a year and they replaced it for free (just had to pay postage). There were reports of previous models of cards that were faulty and mine may very well have been one of them. I had used it in my HTC sensation prior to my S4 and hadn't formatted before using with my S4. Perhaps a coincidence but I had an issue when creating a nandroid backup and it corrupted shortly after this, so not sure if this was a contributing factor or not. But been using my replacement for the past 4 months without any issues so happy with it.
I had one issue with one 64gb SanDisk. There were known issues early on and SanDisk owned up to it, and they readily replaced cards. My replacement has zero issues. Most of my cards in general are SanDisk with a couple Samsungs.

That's a really good sale; kind of overkill for the S4 but probably one of the best cards there is.
16/32/64GB $18/$25/$50
I recommend to skip getting a samsung 64 GB card and stick with the SanDisk Ultra 128 GB Class 10 Micro SDXC. This is the latest, fastest and highest capacity Micro SDXC Class 10 card I've found yet and SanDisk is the only brand to make this capacity compatible with the S4. There are many reports on Amazon that this card DOES work on the S3 and S4. I have the 64 GB version of that SanDisk card and I've never had any problems. I also have about 5 GB's left so I'm happy for now... until I have the 128 GB one! Just so everyone knows... I found it one day on Amazon about 3 weeks ago and they had the 128 GB card for $120. The next day I checked, it had jumped up drastically to $190. Get it while it's hot but watch the item for price drops!!
Oh, there's no such thing as overkill in my opinion. If the rumors are true about the S5 having Dual Micro SD Card slots being capable of reading up to 128 GB's per slot... I'd be more than happy to welcome around 256 GB's for total SD Card memory in my phone. Can you imagine all the porn, dvd movies, android games, old school video game system (NES, Super NES, N64, Sega Genesis, etc) emulated games, PDF files, .ePub/.mobi android books, full series TV shows like Game of Thrones, hundreds of thousands of pics, & as much space for music you could possibly handle?! I can and I want one!

SanDisk is the one that basically sets standards...
From my experience SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston are very reliable. I have not used Sony cards and they are not sold in many places I have been to so I can't comment on their quality. SanDisk/Samsung make their own NAND, Kingston I think does and I believe Sony rebrands.
I've got the 64GB version of the Samsung Evo.
Samsung and Sandisk, and Toshiba are some of the few companies that actually produce the memory inside the chips. Almost everyone else buys the flash chips from them and uses it in their products.
I personally have no experience with Sony cards but have always used SanDisk with no problems and to be honest their cards are cheap just avoid the fakes on ebay

Hi guys,
Could someone please suggest a decent 128gb micro sd card for me to buy?
There seems to be a lot of fakes on EBAY.
I brought recently one but as soon as I save around 11gb of data, it starts going funny as in not displaying videos or photos. I get black icons instead of images and nothing loads.
Thanks.
The one you bought it's a fake. I bought one off Amazon when they first came out. It's a SanDisk. Buy it from someone you can trust. And if the price seems be too good to be true, then it probably is.

Hi guys,
Could someone please suggest a decent 128gb micro sd card for me to buy?
There seems to be a lot of fakes on EBAY.
I brought recently one but as soon as I save around 11gb of data, it starts going funny as in not displaying videos or photos. I get black icons instead of images and nothing loads.
Thanks.

At Amazon UK the real 128GB cards are about £80-90.
When I bought mine I got it for $119. That was last year. But I tested it and it is a real 128GB card. Here is where I got it.
SanDisk Ultra 128GB MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS Memory Card Speed With Adapter (SDSDQUA-128G-G46A) [Old Version]
But they have updated it to a newer version for less $$
SanDisk Ultra 128GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card Up To 48MB/s With Adapter- SDSDQUAN-128G-G4A [Newest Version]
by SanDisk
That one is pretty slow for a big card. I would consider a different card or a sandisk exptreme pro
When I bought mine, it was the only 128GB card on the market
They also sell the Samsung Evo 128Gb micro sd's on amazon. This is the one im buying for Christmas. This is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-128GB...419061745&sr=1-3&keywords=128gb+micro+sd+card
Either or!!! Can't justify spending $100+ to gain a little speed over my Old Version 128GB SanDIsk. Not sure if I can benefit from the speed upgrade. Probably could go to a smaller faster card, I am only using 30GB of this one.
Appreciate all your replies guys! Thank you.
I will order one of the SanDisk cards from Amazon.
Hey guys,
I was thinking of buying a micro SD for my Edge, but I don't know which one to buy.
I have narrowed it down to two:
Samsung Pro 64GB
Samsung Evo 128GB
Unfortunately, I could not find a Samsung Pro 128GB. I guess they don't make it.
Since I'm using a Samsung phone, I'll like to strictly stick with Samsung.
Is the extra speed on the Pro 64GB worth it, or is it better in the long run to have double the capacity but less speed?
What are you opinions about this?
How do you all feel about more memory less speed, or less memory more speed.
Thank you.
Personally, I would go with speed over size. If I could, I'd trade my SanDisk 128 in for a pair of fast 64gb disk.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. If there ever comes a day that I need more memory, I'll just go buy the 128GB Evo, but not for a few years.
Thanks

Grabbing a couple of these PNY Turbo Performance 64GB. A fraction of the price of a Samsung Pro Class with these same advertised speed

I was just at my local Best Buy and they had them in stock. I picked one up for $100.00 bucks. I had a really nice 64 gb card that I bought when they had them mislabeled, i got it for $50 bucks but they are retailing them for $199.00 I needed more memory. I also looked on SanDisk site and they now have a 200 gb micro sd card.
Yea theres 256GBs now...I got one already and it works great. I had the 128GB and the 64GB before...Samsung is now taking this option away as well as removablw battery. And they put a smaller battery in the Note 5 as well as didnt put out a 128GB model as promised..
Just 32 and 64 with no SD slot...they screwed up bad...Im heartbroken
The largest card ive seen on the Sandisk site is a 200GB.
After doing some research, I stumbled upon this card - which, as far as I can tell, is the fastest card on the market. I can't find anything else that claims to have read speeds of 150MB/sec, and it isn't that much more expensive than other 64GB cards out there.
I'll be receiving it on Monday. If there's interest, I'd be happy to run some tests and post the results here. A 128GB version will eventually be available, but it took months to get this card in stock - hard to say if BHP's September 10th estimate is going to be accurate or not.
Yeah please run the test
I might buy the 128gb if it is good
