Hello I have been looking around on this forum and others and I have yet to find any way to disable the autostart Recievers under Media Storage. Some of the receivers initialize when USB mode changes others when booting and the most important for me, when the Mount/UnMounting of an SD card. I've used every app out there to try and disable them and all of them have been unable to disable the receiver. Any help or explanation as to why?

Rom toolbox pro ---> Auto Start Manager ----> Search "Media" ----> Long press on "Media Storage" ----> Click "Advanced Freezer" ----> Uncheck the first box under "Services"
I uncheck and recheck upon boot up because if you leave it unchecked it'll mess up some of your downloads and what not. But by unchecking and rechecking it'll stop the media service that drains the battery

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's actually running unless you enabled the KNOX security feature. I'd like a definitive answer as well, but I'm guessing it's not active.
Hi, yes. Go to settings>applications>application manager> all , then scroll down until you see 'smart manager provider'. Go into that and manage storage, then clear data and clear cache. When you now open the smart manager app it will show the device security as deactivated. Discovered it myself after not finding any info on the Internet about disabling it.

If you don't have something relevant to say, just don't say it!

You can disable that Samsung idiotic protection using Package Disabler Pro (it cost about 2 bucks, probably you can find it cracked somewhere).
Open Package Disabler Pro, search for "com.samsung.android.sm.devicesecurity", now you can disable it or if you don't want to disable it for whatever reason you have just click on it and after that a pop-up will appear on your screen with some options, just click on clear data.
Go to settings>applications>application manager> all , then scroll down until you see 'com.samsung.android.sm.devicesecurity'.
Go into that, then Force stop the app. Then, go to manage storage, then clear data and clear cache.
Now the integrated virus protection from Smart Manager is disabled
I've found this solution by myself.

If that is not relevant, why you ask then? It is a solution if you backup your device. Don't bother to reply, it's not relevant.....

Thanks a lot. Worked for me.
Many thanks for this thread. Had a false positive by the malware scanner (androidlost) that has been nagging with it'S warning and orange overlay counter over the settings button.
Just opened the app list and deleted the data of com.samsung.android.sm.devicesecurity.
This worked well. Thank you for your help.
I dont have com.samsung.android.sm.devicesecurity on my s8
How can I fix it
I've enabled system applets but I have nothing
How do you disable the antivirus app? It's kind of useless and i am sure it uses battery for nothing. I cant find any way to turn it off or uninstall it.
I don't have that on my phone but try to check the device administrators. If it is there you can uncheck it and then maybe disable in the apps menu.
I don't have it either. You must have installed it at some point

It's part of the Smart Manager app. You may be able to find it in Smart Manager/ Device security. Check the very bottom line.
It's part of the smart manager app. You can disable it but you will lose battery stats and power saver mode.
it filters the screen as long as the app is running in the task manager but closes after i remove it.

Hey I have the same issue on my Honor 5c, does nobody know a solution?
I think you have to go to the permissions. I think the os automatically closes certain apps when the screen goes off. I had the same problem with "eye filter" and what I did was go to settings--> apps--> eyefilter (in my case)--> battery ---> "keep running while screen is off"
Hope this helps.
Hi. I've recently just got the Flip3 a few days ago and have noticed that Smartthings has been permanently running in the background since setting the phone up. The confusing thing is that according to the Galaxy Store and Play Store the app isn't installed. I can't even see it in the apps list. Any ideas on where it may be hiding and how to kill it? Thanks
@The-Observer77
Go to Settings > Apps. When you see "My Apps", tap on the three bar icon just to the right.
Once the drop down appears, toggle to where "System" apps are included.
Then, either scroll down to see the Smart Things app (or use the search bar). It's a system app that's not going to appear in your app drawer.
However, there is a user-interface app that can be installed from the Galaxy App Store or the Google Play Store.
@KOLIOSIS
Hi. I've looked where you said and the only options I see when I tap the 3 dots are the following:
Permission manager, Special access and Reset app preferences.

Look down just a bit further, where you see your listed apps....... It will literally say "Your Apps"....... Tap to the right of that & you'll see the toggle I'm talking about..
@KOLIOSIS
Call it a momentary lapse in concentration. Found it right where you mention. Hopefully clearing the cache and data will stop it using so much battery. Thanks.

No problem, it's definitely in a weird place......
IIRC, this placement of the toggle for system apps was originally right where you were looking until Samsung's flavor of Android 11 rolled out.
Seems illogical to me as well, as if Samsung doesn't want anyone to have easy access to system app info.
I'm guessing the only way you're going to be able to stop the app from using battery is to use a package disabler app, or, disable it w/an ADB command.
@KOLIOSIS
Clearing the cache and data on SmartThings seems to have worked. Battery life has vastly improved now.
