I've actually been going nuts this entire week looking for any positive signs of an upcoming Moto X Pure/Style 2016 rumor that looks legit and have yet to find anything.
There is *something* coming soon, but nothing substantiated to be on the "higher end" level that the Pure/Style were when they dropped.

So, I'm disappointed as it doesn't seem any more higher mid-rangers are due this year, and as you said no proof exists of an X line in the next few months. I/we could be incorrect.
My previous thread was substantiated b/c it was based on an article from Pocketnow saying the X line wasn't replaced by the Z line, just making room for a flagship level device. Of course, the Moto X P.E. 2015 was a flagship level device, and actually was the flagship for Moto last year; anyone who doesn't see that it competed with flagships, didn't have one.
Absolutely no new rumors regarding a Moto X Pure/Style 2016.
So sad.
The Google Pixel XL will be announced on 10/4 or 10/5 I think.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl
It'll be 6.04mm tall, same height as the Note 7.
But will have a 5.5" screen vs. our 5.7".
So it'll only be .02 mm shorter than the Pure but should be lighter and not as wide.
If it has a bright screen then I may buy it and take advantage of Project Fi.
If the screen isn't bright then I'll just stay with the MotoX Pure.
Smaller battery = Motorola has officially gone full retard
I highly doubt that it is the Moto X, there are high doubts that one will even launch this year. Those specs are probably for the Moto M that they "supposedly" plan on launching: http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_m-8299.php
is that Kyro by PowerVR?

I've no doubt in my mind that Motorola will release a Moto G2 sometime late next year, because of the success of the Moto G.
But what improvement would you like to see, while still keeping the cost down.
I think 4G/LTE could easily be an option next year, but what else?
camera improvements maybe
Colour led, better camera, more RAM, (faster processor) are the main things for me.
All of the above with the same 720p screen and 32GB at $200
Sent from my XT1032 using Tapatalk
2gb RAM or at least 1.5gb, a better processor, maybe The X8 chip... A better camera (8mpx), 4G
But if you ask me ill take the better CPU/GPU/RAM then a better camera or a 1080p screen so they can keep the $200 price tag, 720p its more than enough for smartphones as long as the screen has a good quality... 1080p its already way too much and nos LG wants a 2k screen lol
Sent from my XT1032 using xda app-developers app
To keep the cost of the device the same i would like to see a few minor improvements to the current G like 4G, 1.5 to 2gb ram, better camera megapixels don't matter.
Sent from my beautiful Lumia 1020 using Tapatalk
My guesses:
RGB Led
8mp Camera
Either an older Snap 600/S4 Pro (think Nexus 7) or a new, yet unannounced Snap 400 with maybe a new low end GPU (Adreno 307, if you will)
1GB RAM, maybe faster DDR3L
8 and 16GB
Slightly bigger battery, maybe 2.2Ah
Tweaked 720p IPS display
Tweaked design - slightly thinner, slightly lighter
Expecting more than this is setting yourself up for disappointment, IMO.
If I were Moto, I'd keep the first gen G and X around, drop the G to $99 or $79, give the G2 LTE and put it starting at $179, drop the X to $279 and release the new X as a true flagship. You get all the price ranges covered with nice phones and, if kept with the same design and basic layout, without much need for retooling.
Lets just enjoy this awesome phone and worry about the 2nd version later...
Maybe X4 or X6 chip? (Since low end processors dont come with quad core GPU I'm thinking)
Gyrosensor & More Space
4.5 or 4.7" 720p display no need to change this I think.
4G/LTE should be cheap enough to have on midrange phones in 2014
Better camera 8mp BIS Sony Sensor
1080p video, the current snapdragon 400 has 1080p support but wasn't implemented in the Moto G for some reason, maybe because the lack of space with the 8GB version.
New snapdragon processor maybe the 405 clocked at 1.5Ghz with better gpu.
2GB of ram will trickle down to midrange phones in 2014, as the top end smartphones move onto 3GB & 4GB.
Slimmer design.
Colour options.
RGB notification led.
8GB storage dropped in favor of both 16GB & 32GB, should be cheap enough in 2014.
If all the above was to be the case for the Moto G2 for next year, it probably be even bigger seller than the current Moto G is now.
The 4G will depende con how things go in the world in the next months, A LOT of countries doesnt even have 4G un the works, and some of them are just starting to embrace it
I dont think a X8 CPU its really out of the realm of possibilities, obviously not The same one as the MotoX one, but a low-end one...
Bigger storage should be a thing, 16/32gb.

ok, so you basically want the g2 to be a moto X LOL.. so no, this won't happen.
a 1080p screen IS a 2k screen. the 'k' monika refers to the horizontal not vertical resolution. hence 1080, by 1920 (2k). 720 is about 1.2k.
The truth is, the margin on the Moto G is about 20%, this is so much lower than any other phone manufacturer that any improvements will be added basically at 'cost' therefore, any meaningful spec upgrade leads to a big price price rise (relatively speaking).
I would like the same phone, a year newer CPU and GPU, slightly bigger battery, 4G and improved build quality, 10% price rise. This is at least doable.
Better camera/video
Gyroscope
32 GB version
Same price 180/200/240 (8/16/32)
Sligthly more rubberized shell for better grip
Keep the rest, it's already a great phone.
For me all I'd like to see for a 'G2' is:
4.7" 720p screen
LTE
8MP Camera
1.5 or 2GB RAM
The Moto G2 will be inspired by Motorola's next year flagship, but weaker.
I could see the Moto G2 with a quad core chip, a better gpu, and 1080p screen, LTE, 4.7" screen, 2gb ram, and MAYBE 8MP camera
moto G was created to be a cheap phone with mid-highend specs. You guys want moto x specs on a 200$ phone? Forget about it. Go and buy a moto x

To be fair 5 years ago a low end phone was considered to be 256 MB of ram and a 600 MHz single core processor with a 3 inch screen and would cost the same as the moto g does today. As time goes on technology standards go up.
But I do agree some people in this thread are asking for way too much even for today's standards. If you want modern flagship specs get a modern flagship phone.

I would not be surprised to see next year's Moto G to be pretty close to the current Moto X. Maybe they change a few components to lower the price but in a year's time, the cost of most of those components will probably be down as well.

The new LG G Pro 2 sports a 5.9-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) IPS display, weighs 172 grams, and measures 157.9 × 81.9 × 8.3 mm - and yet the Korean company calls it a smartphone, not a phablet. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat, coming with an “evolved” KnockOn feature called Knock Code. For the moment, the rough automatic translation of the press release announcing the handset doesn’t allow us to fully understand how the new feature works.
The G Pro 2 is LG’s first smartphone to offer a high-power 1W speaker, which should make it a multimedia powerhouse. The handset has a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and OIS plus (an improved version of the Optical Image Stabilization which debuted on the LG G2 last year). The rear camera can record 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video. Other features: LTE-A connectivity, NFC, quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 3,200 battery (apparently removable).

How many of you impressed about G pro 2 ???
Back then, when the Optimus G was annouced, I was pretty impressed by the specs. Now though, I realise the lack in many aspects makes it a "second runner" in many point. The lack of update, even for bug correction and the lack of quality in certain apsects, like the camera software or audio rendering make it so that I won't be looking at "specs" only anymore.
Anyway, unless I can sell my OG a decent price to get a N5, I think I'll wait to see what will Lenovo do with Motorola.

Come wif Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on display screen however the back lens camera dint use the same material as the display screen which is not resistance to screctch.
Speak about protection motorola give an nano coating finish to moto g to the component, inside and outer screen glass to make moto g watersplash resistance but don't jump into pool wif ur phone.
Moto G is one of the first handsets to be updated to Google's latest software - Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Software update on this phone was the Beauty and the Beast is their camera but still u can enjoy an good outdoor picture but never the indoor.
Feel free to share wht u know bout motor g ??
Moto G is the last phone from Motorola & Google
and we are the lucky ones
And we will Never be seeing another awesomely priced awesomely specced phone from Moto
When with Moto g they had all this patents( so they don't have to license stuff) and lotsa money for r &d ( they lost a billion dollars even after selling so many phones)
So savour the Moto g ..the last affordable smartphone which get things right

- It's fast! My previous phone was a Samsung galaxy ace duos CDMA so understandably this feels very quick in comparison. But yeah still even then its really faster than most phones available in this process segment.
- The phone doesn't come with a lot of bloatware like so many other phones on the market which again is a massive bonus.
- Beautiful HD screen (4.5 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1280, resulting in a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch)
- Android 4.3 with an upgrade to 4.4.2 already!
- Long lasting battery life
- Easy to customise (Regarding both the exterior of the phone with the different coloured shells and the interior with the
software available).
- Low price for the specs available (1gb of ram with a Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz).
- Well built. It doesn't feel cheap like those plastic body Samsung phones.
- Slow motion video feature is really nice.
-Its loud!
- Doesn't lag a bit. Even with high end games like Asphalt 8 the phone runs butter smooth .

Any word on one of these yet? I think I am done with the bigger phones.
There are rumors of a Droid Mini 2 codename "Valocia". It will supposedly have a Snapdragon 801 SoC, which consists of a 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU.
That's all I've been able to find. I really hope it is still "Mini" and is no bigger in body size than the current Droid Mini.
I worry it will end up being bigger and not so "Mini" any more. Reason being small smartphones are becoming less and less popular, with Motorola even having made the 2014 versions of MOTO X and MOTO G much bigger than the 2013 models despite keeping the same name. I'm taking really good care of my current Mini in case the Mini 2 isn't so mini any more.

1/4/2016 Have heard nothing about the New Motorola Droid Mini for months. Any rumors or facts whether it has been canceled or still be released in 2016?
I haven't seen any info out there about it at all. They may have just decided that nobody wants a "small" phone any more. Everyone I know has gone to 5.1"+, and that includes both Android and iOS users.
If they do come out with a Droid Mini 2, I bet it won't be so Mini and will probably have at least a 4.7" screen.
Im going to openly say this now... I am PISSED! Massively.... I thought the style was supposed to be their Flagship?!?!?!
Either way nonetheless Ladies and Gents - We Present the Moto X Force
Motorola Moto X Force vs Moto X Style vs Moto X Play: What's the difference?
Motorola has very quietly announced the Moto X Force, which brings the 2015 Moto X offering to three models if you ignore the Moto X Style Pure Edition.
The Moto X Force brings with it flagship specs and a slightly more expensive price than the Moto X Style, but it's the unbreakable display that makes this Moto X model more interesting than its siblings.
We have put the Moto X Force up against the Moto X Style and the Moto X Play to see what the differences are between the three devices and how they compare. Read on if you want some help deciding which X is right for you.

Motorola Moto X Force vs Moto X Style vs Moto X Play: Design
The Motorola Moto X Force measures 149.8 x 78mm and offers a curved rear between 7.6mm and 9.2mm. The Moto X Style is larger in height but smaller in width, measuring 153.9 x 76.2mm with a curve between 6.1mm and 11.06mm. The Moto X Play is the smallest of all three of these devices however, measuring 148 x 75mm with a curve of 8.9mm to 10.9mm.
The Moto X Force is the slimmest overall and one of the lightest, hitting the scales at 169g, which is the same as the Moto X Play. The Moto X Style is 10 grams heavier at 179g.
All three of the Moto X devices come with a water-repellant nano-coating and they are all available to customise through Moto Maker. The Force only comes in one colour as standard, while the Style and Play come in two base colours.

Motorola Moto X Force vs Moto X Style vs Moto X Play: Display
The Moto X Force comes with a 5.4-inch AMOLED display offering a resolution of 2560 x 1440 for a pixel density of 540ppi. It's the ShatterShield feature that makes this device stand out from the crowd however. Motorola claims this display is completely unbreakable and its confidence is supported with a four-year warranty.
The Moto X Style has a slightly larger 5.7-inch TFT LCD display that also offers a Quad HD resolution but the increase in size drops the pixel density to 520ppi. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, but no unbreakable claims come with this model or the Moto X Play.
The Moto X Play has a 5.5-inch display that offers a Full HD resolution for a pixel density of 403ppi, which is the lowest of this bunch. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is on board again but dropping this device at a bad angle probably wouldn't end well.
The Force has the smallest display but also the sharpest, and strongest if Motorola's claims are anything to go by.

Motorola Moto X Force vs Moto X Style vs Moto X Play: Camera
The Moto X Force has a 21-megapixel rear snapper, like the Moto X Style and Moto X Play. All three feature an aperture of f/2.0, along with functions such as 4x digital zoom, slow motion video, burst mode, night mode and auto HDR.
The Moto X Play doesn't offer as many functions as the Moto X Force and the Moto X Style however, despite offering the same amount of megapixels. For example, both the latter devices offer phase detect auto-focus and 4K video capabilities, while the Moto X Play doesn't.
In terms of the front-facing snapper, the Moto X Force has a 5-megapixel sensor, as does the Moto X Style and Moto X Play. Motorola doesn't detail the features of the Moto X Play's front camera but the Moto X Style and Moto X Force appear to be identical.
There is a wide-angle lens, night mode, a flash and an aperture of f/2.0. The Moto X Force and Moto X Style front-facing cameras also have larger 1.4um pixels for better low light shots.

The Moto X Play has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, Adreno 405 graphics and 2GB of RAM on board.
The Moto X Force comes in 32GB and 64GB storage options, offering microSD support for up to 2TB. The Moto X Style comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options with microSD support for up to 128GB. The Moto X Play is available in 16GB and 32GB storage options, also with microSD support.

Motorola Moto X Force vs Moto X Style vs Moto X Play: Conclusion
The Motorola Moto X Force follows in the footsteps of the Moto X Style but bumps the specs up in a couple of areas and of course, adds that unbreakable display.
You pay an extra £100 for a slightly bigger battery than the Moto X Play, but a significantly bigger one than the Moto X Style, a faster processor, smaller but sharper display and more storage, as well as a slimmer handset overall than both models.
The quietly announced Moto X Force wins or draws on almost all spec fronts so if you are someone who is constantly dropping their smartphone, this decision will be a no brainer. The Moto X Force offers everything and more than the Moto X Style and Moto X Play.

IMHO Motorola went backwards on this one... I think that they should have given the bigger battery to the MOTO X Style... 3760mAh
The Play should have had the 3000mAh Battery and the Force should have Had the 3630mAh Battery
Yes the Moto X force (Droid Turbo 2 in the US) is a more powerful phone but it has a price tag to match. It was launched here in the US for Verizon wireless only, 32gig is $624 off contract or $720 for the 64gig variant. That's $174 or $220 more respectively compared to the Moto X Pure edition here in the states. Yes it's a better phone but the performance difference for the price isn't worth it in my book. It also doesn't help that it loses the stereo speakers for a mono loud speaker on the front.

The big question, will the Force be available in the US through Moto Maker direct?
I'm not changing carriers just for the Droid Turbo 2. The Force really hits the mark with the 4 year warrantee shatter proof screen. PocketNow seemed to throw the Droid Turbo 2 around pretty good.
I'll be disappointed if I cannot order this in US through Moto Maker.

It probably never will. The Moto Maxx is the international version of the Droid Turbo and after more than a year, it never got to be available directly from Motorola U.S.
I'm guessing because of the Verizon exclusivity agreement.
F###ing Verizon. That would really suck. A phone with a feature like shatter proof screen & only one company can carry it in US? That's crap. I know I could probably buy the Verizon phone & put a GSM sim card in it, but I don't want the big red crap ware.
I don't get moto. On the one hand, we are only making our phones direct, but then they come out with a carrier specific phone with some specs that are much more desirable than what they call their high end phone. I don't get it.
It's called money and fulfilling a contract Motorola has with Verizon. They do this every year with the droid. What's surprising is that anyone would be surprised. The T2 won't get quick updates and the four T2s I have seen have had dark, dingy screens but I haven't heard others experiencing this. I'm happy with my MXPE.
