Unlocked HTC One M8 (Verizon) won't work with 4G LTE - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hi there! I just recently bought a Verizon HTC one M8 and it seemed to be a great deal since it was factory unlocked and only for 100 USD. The phone works just fine, but the thing is that I want to use this phone with cricket wireless and everything works such as sms and calling, but the 4G LTE or data itself does not work at all. I've already tried adjusting the network preferences and nothing. Is there any way to make it work? Can i root m device and somehow flash a rom that will allow me to use the lte capabilities? or anything simpler haha. Thanks! :good:

[Q] Can you use LTE Sim Card in non-LTE device?

I use my AT&T LTE SkyRocket as my daily device which requires an LTE Sim Card (I tried the regular sim card with APN settings from xda and it didn't work). I also have a Captivate that is my backup device in case my SR dies or something. I want to switch out my Captivate for a Galaxy Nexus.
Does anyone know if the LTE Sim Card from my SkyRocket will at least work to provide data on the GSM nexus? Or will I need to have AT&T switch my account to HSPA and get a regular SIM card?
PS. I tried searching and found nothing.
Your sim will work fine in the device. You just wont have LTE. 4G isnt bad though. Your cappy is a 3G. I've always been happy with 3G....dont use alot of data
Your simcard would work fine on any phone. But if the phone doesnt support LTE it will just use 4G and if it doesn't support 4G then 3G.

Had simuliar problem
I recently went from a At&t Galaxy S2 I777 to a Galaxy S2 I727 LTE skyrocket myself found my data didn't work once I switched simcard over to the I727 LTE phone , but once I had data switched to LTE data it worked fine
When I bricked my SR, I put my LTE sim in a 3G captivate. It worked fine. I would assume that it is 'backwards' compatible. But that's just a guess. I could put the sim in my older phones to see but I'm lazy.
I was unaware that the SIM controlled the LTE data access... Wouldn't any SIM work?
Granted, they did give me a new SIM when I went from my 3GS to the Skyrocket, but that may just be since I got it in the store rather than online.
Yeah kinda surprised me when my data would't work on my skyrocket , but I used my same ole sim card in it , with standard data and it just would not work , but did learn the lte data will work on another phone and show data , but when you go from standard data to a LTE phone it won't , lol , once I changed over to LTE data and useing the same simcard , it work's fine now.
But but as far as the answer to the question (( Can you use LTE sim Card in a non_LTE device? )) answer look's like yes , but it won't work going from a standard data sim card unless you change the APN setting's..
I have tested my Skyrocket SIM in my backup phone, which is a Dell Venue and it worked fine. The Venue was purchased unlocked from Dell. I do not know if that makes any difference.
I never could get it to work in my old back flip. But that is an old outdated p.o.s.
I was able to use it on iPhone 3gs

Thanks everyone for your replies. This solidifies my decision to sell my Captivate (used as a backup device) and buy a Galaxy Nexus from Play store.
Now the only thing I will have to decide is which one I will make my primary device:
1) Skyrocket (w 8MP camera)
2) Nexus (w pure Google)
This will be a tough decision since I use my phone camera a LOT and thus the 8MP shooter is important, BUT I also really really really want to install CM9 Black Ice ROM onto the Nexus. I guess I'll find out once I can scrape together enough money for the Nexus.
Thanks again (and feel free to chime in on my SkyRocket vs Nexus dilemma if you want)
I tried using these settings with an ATT Tilt 2/Rhodium and an LTE sim From an iPhone 5. I was able to get the phone and texting to work but not data. I was at a loss until I read this post on the android central forum where the data plans are not compatible... http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-galaxy-s-iii/224898-there-difference-between-lte-sim-3g-sim.html
So now I find myself wondering if the data plan for a Tilt 2 will work in an iPhone 5...
[edit] I confirmed with AT&T that the iPhone 5 data plan is not compatible with an AT&T Tilt2. The Tilt 2 needs a regular "smartphone" plan. Not sure what the difference is.

[Q] Verizon HTC One M7 to AT&T

I have my One M7 rooted and unlocked. It was originally with Verizon. I now wish to use it on Straight Talk (AT&T towers). Simply getting the SIM card and activating it does not cover everything. Due to the latest Android software there is no option to add or modify APNs. Therefore, I can not use data unless I am connected to WiFi.
I was wondering if I should (or even can) change everything to the HTC One (GSM) ROM from CYanogenmod so I can properly set up my phone to work on Straight Talk.
Any and all help will be much appreciated!
Thanks

[Q] Supercid carrier firmware swap m8 verizon to att

I have terrible reception and no MMS on an unlocked Verizon m8 swapped to AT&T sim. Phone is unlocked via sunshine with TWRP custom recovery and flashed to the latest Verizon firmware via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159 running Viperone 3.1.0 and I believe some kind of faux boot. Can I switch to AT&T firmware to get the best reception from this phone. So far I have read the hardware is all the same and was thinking I could open up the AT&T bands with this new firmware. Is there a better firmware? Can this be done on a Verizon phone? Any advice would be appreciated because I don't want to brick it and would be better safe then sorry.
If your phone does not support the at&t bands, there is likely nothing you can do about that. Also check you APN settings in phone settings, mobile networks. If they are wrong or missing, you won't be able to use data. You can google the settings for your carrier.
Good luck!

APN settings are fine have tried all of them I believe. Was wondering if I change the firmware for the phone and turn it into an AT&T phone and replace the ROM again with the Viperone ROM if that would free up the bands if the hardware is the same. If the hardware for the Verizon phone is different from the AT&T phone then I'm stuck but I'm hoping they released 1 phone with the same hardware and just put different firmwares on it so i can change the radio firmware etc.

Are u running the att viperone version or the Verizon version? I have a vzw branded m8. Running viperone. But I run the T-Mobile version so that I have a bit better call quality and I do receive all my sms mms and most my 4g antennaes. My only gripe is going between towers with 4glte on, it doesn't travel very well between towers.. So I run on wcdma only and I get my 14 gb data which is fine so that I can travel and get plenty speeds without buying another phone.

I would like to know this also, as I have a verizon m8 and I would like to entertain the idea of putting it on straight talk with at&t service.
Looking to see if anyone can post a copy of a build.prop from a verizon m8 with working att mms. I have edited mine and still nothing. Used several different text apps and every apn i can think of.

So you tried go sms pro ? That one seems to work one of the best. Also did you try google hangouts since they added support for google voice in to it ? The hangouts is supposed to work off wifi also so that could help you when on wifi at least. Did you check the at&t m8 forum for this conversion I saw another member thought they posted the conversion in the at&t forum for the m8. I have not had the time to look for myself yet.

N-920T & AT&T Data Issues

Is anyone using the T-Mobile Note 5 on AT&T? I am having data problems where I do not get data, but can send and receive texts, and also make calls. I switch to the Cingular APN and it works, but then goes out.
I have tried the Nxtgen phone apn and also phone apn, and no luck.
I know im not answering your question, but are you able to use the VOLTE feature on your tmobile phone on the at&t network? or even HD calling?
Actually At&t messed up my provisioning. You asked about those features, I would recommend you download Darthstalkers Rom Version 4, choose n9200A, it will install the at&t carrier files.
Just make sure to add the ATT Phone APN, do not use the nextgen phone apn.
Why do you suggest not using NextGen APN. I use it on all my phones and it's perfect your funny
I have been thinking of paying off my unrooted phone and switching to cricket. When I put my IME number to check compatibility it said it wasn't. So, I'm a bit confused. Is this phone compatible with ATT LTE or not. I thought that ATT and Cricket were the same?

Sprint HTC A9 Sim Unlock

Hello I have a Sprint HTC A9 that has been successful unlocked for domestic use, but I have voice with no data. I have S-Off, boot loader unlocked, running stock os. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Can someone please advise?
A friend mentioned that the Sprint variant might not have correct bands installed to be compat with other carriers. I'm wondering if replacing the radio firmware with the developer edition version would work, but I can't get around simlock to test.
HTC A9 Sprint Unlock success!!
Please share? I've been trying for days and made little progress.
There is a guy from Craigslist in my area that did it and he will not tell me, I asked. If there is any kind of way that I can back it up, screen shot it, or whatever. Someone please let me know. I don't have any personal data on it, because it has no data so I'm not using it yet. I don't care about sharing. Let me know and I'm more than happy to.

If it's an MSL code, he should have supplied that for you. I think MSL is unique to the IMEI/MEID/ESN of your device.
About your successful unlock, congrats! Your success let's me know it's do-able. I'm calling a local computer repair shop that offers unlocking services tomorrow. :fingerscrossed:
I've tried a half dozen ways to get this phone unlocked, but so far I've come up empty except for one scenario:
S-OFF
1. Change CID/MID to unlocked and flash unlocked RUU. Phone works fine, radio not functional.
2. Change CID/MID to sprint and flash sprint RUU. Phone will work with T-mobile SIM for one boot-up. As soon as phone is rebooted the SIM locks.
You can't just reflash the sprint RUU either. If you want to get another successful boot, you have to flash the unlocked RUU, then the sprint RUU and you'll get one boot. My only guess is something in the partitions is zero'd out by the unlocked RUU. I've also tried using the CM13 build immediately after the sprint RUU, and again I get one boot, but as soon as I reboot, CM13 shows sim not inserted.
Perhaps someone can make sense of this.

Wow.... you are a life saver Lussardi! Thank you very much!
My HTC A9 has delivered APN setting, which cannot be modified. However, I was able to create a new APN manually and use that one. After that, data started to work. So far, I see it was able to connect to 4G and also LTE. At one place with strong LTE signal, i tested the download speed, and it was 82mbps. I have never seen that kind of download speed on my iPhone.
Thanks,
Sean
// , Did you unlock an HTC One A9 [Sprint] for complete LTE on T-Mobile or on AT&T?
// , Let me make sure I understand this correctly.
Can I do the following:
1. Unlock a Sprint HTC One A9.
2. Buy a data-enabled T-Mobile SIM card or AT&T SIM card.
3. Enter APN & Data settings.
4. Use that same HTC One A9 with T-Mobile or AT&T, with no loss in performance?
If this is true, that surprises and pleases me.
I assume that one can unlock an AT&T HTC One A9 for use with T-Mobile with no loss in performance, as well?

My Sprint version of HTC A9 has been working on T-Mobile's network for almost a week now. I see no issues so far. Data connection is still good with connecting to LTE most of the time.

i am not sure if my experience is any different from others here. but, here's the detail of what i went through....
My Sprint variant of HTC A9 was purchased directly off htc.com back in 11/2015. Since the phone was paid in full, I believe the phone was not locked to begin with. I had been using it on Sprint for the past 10 months. Just recently i switched my plan to T-Mobile. With T-Mobile's sim, I see the phone picked up the sim card. Phone started to work (i can make/receive calls) but data would not work. I talked to a couple of HTC rep for support. Both of them told me it should work. From their understanding, A9 and the new HTC 10 should work on all US major carriers...especially mine is a CDMA phone. According to them, CDMA ones can work on GSM....but GSM would not work on CDMA network. Anyways, they were no help for me.
I started doing research on my own and found many people experiencing the same. Phone would work but data would not connect. It was not working until a member on this board, Lussardi, came to rescue. He suggested to manually put in APN. So, I started to check out the APN setting. I see with t-mobile's sim card in, the phone is using a delivered T-Mobile APN setting. I went ahead and created one myself named T-Mobile Manual. I put in APN: fast.t-mobile.com and MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc and left everything else default. After I selected to use this new APN, the phone started to pick up mobile data. Now, depending on the area that i am in, i can see it's using either 4G or LTE. At one place with strong LTE signal, i did a speed test. It was over 80mbps.
Anyways, that's all. Good luck everyone.
// , Thank you!
// , Thanks for the thorough response, and for not just giving up.
The large corporations generally don't care too much about usability for this sort of outlier customer experience.
Can you give any instructions on how you unlocked the sprint version of the HTC A9?
Thanks.
