Is anyone else having an issue with S-view cases on stock 6.0.1 where it doesn't allow you to change the background?
I've tried with a replacement case, removing the memory card, cropping the picture to size first - nothing works.
Through the options, it does get me to the gallery to change the background - but then I just get a message saying "unable to save cropped image" on any image I choose. Annoying since it worked fine before the update!
(noob alert! sorry if this is the wrong place to post)
mine works fine on 6.0.1
Mine works fine too.
Hmm, I just ordered an S View case. I'll check this when I get it and see if I have that problem
Working fine here! No issues on the background image of the s-view window. Android 6.0.1

Having the exact same issue N-910C.
Sent from my SM-T520 using Tapatalk
I've had the same problem with N-910C in MM, "unable to save cropped image". Rebooted and after that (maybe toying a little more through gallery like use as background, lockscreen etc. sorry I can't remember exactly) I could use it no problem.
Still having this issue. Maybe its a permission issue, with the new Marshmallow permissions introduced. Problem is, I dont know which program to manually grant permissions to to fix it, gallery already seems to have permissions for everything.
You tried denying all permissions and enabling them when using the app?

I just upgraded to cm7 and now sometimes when I try to install an app from an apk file it wont let me hit the install button.
If I am using Amazon appstore it works, the same type of screen comes up and I can install stuff. But when installing from a downloaded apk (like from here) the button just doesn't work... it isn't greyed out or anything but is simply unresponsive.

Hey I have this same problem, did you ever figure out this issue? Thanks!
Please let me know if anyone knows how to fix this issue, I'm having the same problem
Bump this
Problem persists on my phone as well. Brand new Droid X2 stock ROM rooted with zergrush kit including busybox, superuser, and recently installed: nobloat free, droidwall, SD Booster, blade buddy, spare parts+, and setcpu (which is pretty much useless without a custom ROM that has the kernel to support it)
Edit: make sure unknown sources is checked under app settings =]
Edit again: NOPE still a problem =[
Edit again: FIGURED IT OUT!!!! Simply turn off your screen filter! =D (I don't know why, but that WAS my problem 100%)
Hi all, I'm facing the same problem, but I don't have screen filter installed. What else have you tried?
Here's my main post about this.
I've also heard that Juice Defender can cause this problem. Sadly, like you, I still can't fix it on my phone!
Anyone?
AHA! I found mine! TEAM Battery Bar. It's a spectacular app; if you've not gotten it yet, I highly recommend it. I just turned it off within the app itself, (I checked running apps to give me a clue,) and the installer button worked.
After hearing about several display-related apps causing the problem, I looked for those on my phone. TEAM Battery Bar does indeed run a constant display item, so I think that's the key. I'll notify the dev. He's pretty responsive.
I can confirm: disabling TEAM Battery Bar solve the problem! thanks

Thanks, that fixed my problem on my Galaxy S2 with LPQ ICS rom. Probably should report it to the dev for fixing...
in my case Juice Defender was a problem, since I don't have any screen filters installed
uninstalling Juice Defender fixed my phone
EDIT Friend of mine has the same phone (SGS2) with the same ROM installed, JD never caused any problems with his phone
The only difference between my JD settings and his - I got brightness control enabled, so maybe that was a problem, not JD itself

I'm currently on SGS2 rooted stock LPQ and just figured it out myself that Screen Filter is actually doing something so that the install button cant be pressed. Has anyone informed the dev?
Edit: just mailed the dev of Screen Filter hoping for confirmation and fix
'Lux Auto Brightness' is causing the same issue, so seems that all the applications trying to adjust screen brightness will cause the issue.
By the moment I disable it, I am able again to install apks... really weird
Also, not clear why only the install button is effectively disabled, as cancel bitton works and the 'show all perms' drop down , also works

i encountered the same issue and after reading your post and searching hard on my n7000, i finally found what causes it...on my n7000 it was glove box. After uninstalling my phone is back to normal again

Thanks for all the infos, guys. For me, it was both Lux Auto Brightness and Twilight. I disabled them using task manager and everything went smoothly from that. Explains why no matter how much I reboot, it doesn't fix things. I also have avast Mobile Antivirus installed and it has a constant display notification but it doesn't cause any issues. I am guessing it has something to do with code wired to the phone's hardware? As all the apps causing problems had to do with overlapping device setting control over screen brightness or hue.
So... I had no problems with my(second) idol 3, all was well and dandy. But recently the colours on the screen became more saturated, almost like an amoled display, followed by a significant decrease in performance. Nothing is changed, no root no nothing. Totally stock, except for the launcher. That would be Nova launcher and I used it since the day I got the phone with no problems. What the hell happened and has anyone else experienced this?
Random restart happened today and all my wifi passwords are lost.
in which app the colors are saturated? stock gallery app?
All over the phone. Not just the gallery. Perhaps the gallery is the fault for it?

i asked the gallery 'cause on my idol mostly (but not the only one) the gallery app that distorts color badly... have you tried a CM rom? in my case there is no color distortion on CM at all so the stock rom obviously has the wrong color balance settings
check this

Yeah, I know about the gallery app too. Can't really install a CM rom due to warranty, it's only two monts old. I'm sure that the problem can be solved with a full wipe but that is not the answer I'm looking for.

I doubt that a wipe can solve errors like this. I did it a few times, restored firmware with Mobile Q, color distortions on stock ROM never disappeared. Best experience was with Color Balance app from Play Store. It's just too expensive for my budget.
I have tried wiping cash but to no avail. The performance has slightly improved during the day but has returned back to garbage now. This is so annoying. Is there a way to check the "settings" for this without root? Maybe something in build.prop or such?

without root you can't do any really useful. if you don't want to install cm, check this app (earlier i made a mistake with its name):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.quickdoc.screenbalance&hl=en
If it can stop color distortion, at least you'll know that the phone hardware itself is correct, just the stock rom sucks.
-edit-
just read the new symptoms, at first i'd make a full reinstall with mobile upgrade q, if it doesn't solve anything, i'd go to a cm rom.
The problem seems to have fixed itself. I don't know what happened. All it's buttery smoothnes has returned after an accidental tap on the gallery app. The saturation has returned to normal too. I'll check out the app link for good measure. Thanks for all the help. How does one close a thread?
Guess I spoke too soon. The phone just did something of a restart. The whole boot animation happened but none of my open apps(gmail and chrome) have closed once it booted. Very strange.

that's normal, opened apps don't disappear from 'recent apps' after a reboot on lollipop.
however a reboot just from nowhere isn't normal.

I did not know that. Guess I will have to do the mobile upgrade q procedure. I'll give it a few days before I do that though.
Welp. I've given it some days and the problem has not returned. Also, a fun thing i didn't mention. This replacement idol 3 is not exactly the same as the previous one. For example the camera lenses had a green tint on the first one, but on this one they're blue. And the logo niw sits flush with the surface instead of being pushed more inside.
This is really boggling my noodle. Last month I flashed my phone from G930T to G930U. No problems up until Friday when I went to take a picture and found my camera app kept crashing - weird. After much troubleshooting, I decided I've had enough and factory reset the phone. Seemed to be fine, got everything setup, BOOM, problem is back. After painstakingly going through the restore process again slowly, I found that the problem is coming from the camera and Samsung Gallery interaction. If all photos are in the DCIM folder, there is no problem. The moment I download a picture via the internet or Facebook, or I take a screenshot of my phone, since those pictures fall outside of DCIM (into the Pictures, Download, or Screenshot folders), the camera app crashes. It definitely seems like a cache issue with gallery/media storage, but no matter how many times I clear them, once the cache rebuilds, the problem returns. I've always had pictures outside of DCIM without issue and my wife, who has the same phone and I flashed the same G930U image on, has no problems.
Any possible ideas because I am completely at a loss?!

Tried, but it says it conflicts with a version already installed. I can't confirm it is the Gallery app specifically, but it is definitely somehow the camera and gallery are interacting for the cached pictures.

Enable secure startup in lockscreen settings, reboot, install apk again
If it's already enabled, disable it and reboot, the exploit just requires the switch to be toggled and phone rebooted, then package conflicts don't occur

That was sneakily awesome. Installing it that way worked, but unfortunately did not fix my problem.
I went to my last resort and reflashed the G930U files through Odin, and then updated it via the OTA before I did any additional setup, and that seemed to fix the issue. I have absolutely no idea what was wrong with it.

So OTA seems to fix it in the 930U firmware?
So, I've been trying to change my lock screen image (as well as the app screen and such) for my HTC U11 but it will only let me use the default selections and not my own pictures...it was working a few weeks ago but it's really bugging me!
Every time I try to select my chosen images it says "Error: Could not load media" - there's nothing wrong with the image files and I've tried many different ones...
I tried going to the "edit current theme" and such but it just won't work! Even HTC customer support couldn't help me :c

Same here.. I deleted the Sense home data, restarted the phone - nothing worked.
Perhaps it is a problem on HTC's side..

Doesn't work.
Also when I select a pic from the G photos itself, to create a theme for an example - it says the same - could not load media. I deleted also the data for the GPhotos - still doesnt work. I run out of ideas.
Can your gallery see the photos OK? It might be a permission thing. Try deleting gphoto cache and data, reopen the app and see if it asks for permission. The screen saver is linked to the gphoto app so the problem must lie there.

Gallery sees and edits the photos ok. Deleted and reopened everything possible. Nopermissions asked. No luck.
From this point I'll admit I'm stabbing a fish in a barrel. Do you have encrypted storage?.
Out of curiosity, are you trying to change from personalize or display settings?
Try edit current theme under personalize.
The error occurs when I select edit current theme using the Themes app and then try to load a picture from the device
Same Issue
I have the absolute same issue, I uninstalled the whole sense home app (therefore my whole homescreen messed up and all my icons) and it reinstalled itself and I restarted my phone and it worked, however it just updated again and now does the same thing
I'm having the same issue on my HTC 10. I've noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago.
Google photos got an update in the play store and the problem is now fixed.
Hi,
I enabled "restrict background battery" for few apps, but after reboot, those settings are lost.
I have a pixel 7 (not a pro), and the problem (according to this post) seems to affect other permissions..

Does anyone else have the same problem?
My permissions seem to get lost sometimes randomly. Not after each reboot and not every morning/day. Just randomly.
