Worth rooting my Samsung Galaxy S7 (GM930V) Verizon? Basedband Verson 6930VV - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I have a bunch of questions. I just received my Verizon S7 as of today, brand new of course.
1. Is it possible to flash this to a different firmware and possibly load a rom for that, I've noticed? Or is there no working rom for this verizon phone because it's from verizon? I know you can root it as well. Verizon firmware seems pretty ass so far and have noticed that it's been heating up just because I'm installing apps from the playstore although people have said it goes away eventually. Any recommendations on which firmware I should use?
2. As for the people who have rooted, how has your experience with it so far in terms of performance, battery life, and stability? I plan on rooting if's worth the trouble so I can use Adaway, Xposed Installer, and etc but mainly to improve my battery life if rooting helps with that! Can I just load into a different firmware and then install a rom? For some reason there are no working roms or stable roots for the Verizon version?
Should I just stick with stock then?

1. No you can't, since in the USA all firmwares are carrier branded and flashing another carriers' rom would most likely brick your device. And yes, it is possible to root your device, but it is still in early stages which means it's very unstable and it would bring more disadvantages then advantages.
2. I am using the International version of s7 and rooting does improve my device's peformance quite a lot, but I would not recommend rooting your's.
So yeah, for now just stick with the stock rom.

Hello, everyone.
I currently own a Nexus 5 which is serviced and handled by LG in India.
Being a flash addict, I really wanted to know, that does rooting the almighty N5 give any improvement over stock?
As a previous galaxy s3 user, I had no option but to root the laggy device. But Nexus is god-like.
So my real question is, does rooting, changing ROMs give a significant improvement over the stock-unrooted ROM?
And are the improvements so substantial so as to lose my warranty?
P.S By improvement, I mean battery and/or performance.
Thanks!
I'm running stock with Franco kernel and there is a noticeable improvement in battery life. It's worth it to me, plus it's easy to unroot and go back to stock. But really, it's up to you.

Hello my fellow Mumbaikar lol
No one can tell you whether you should root it or not.. It all comes down to personal choices. That being said, by rooting a device and using a custom rom the performance/battery will surely increase but most people don't root their devices to enjoy the heavy customization which comes along with the root/custom rom.
Yes, the device is GOD as it is but if you root it, I'm sure it will be even more powerful (don't know what's above GOD like) LOL.
Warranty doesn't get void if you flash a custom rom or root the device. Google replaces rooted devices as well. Here's a thread about the same : http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/google-care-root-nexus-t2656079
However, if you're afraid of sending it as it is, you can always return to fully stock rom, remove the tamper flag and then lock the bootloader which will make the device look fresh out of the box (software wise)..
So read some stickies in the General section.. Check out some custom rom threads and see for yourself whether it's worth it!

rooting has absolutely nothing to do with battery or performance. all rooting does is give you access to mess with root files, it gives you root permission. battery and performance comes with messing with those root files.

Best Custom ROM For Phone with Locked BL

Hi All. New to the S3. I was looking for a nice Android phone and a co-worker had one for $40. I jumped in head first considering the price. Then I found out it had 4.4.2 and I was pretty much stuck to TW based ROMs (prefer stock android). I'm OK with that because I'll use a 3rd party launched. I just want all the Verizon bloatware gone. I've read some and it seems most of the custom ROMs are OK but each has their own set of standard features that don't work as they would with a stock ROM or some apps might had issues when running a certain custom ROM. So the question is if your requirement is to reduce/remove the carrier bloatware what's a good ROM?

There are currently only 3 roms that are available for the bootloader locked down S3
And as always, there doesn't need to be threads about what rom is better than the other. Best bet is to always do your own research
From my CM11 S3

just bought the Samsung s6

hello all, I just bought this device for around $630 in AUD brand new with a spigen case included thought it was time for a upgrade came from a nexus 5 running AICP 6.0.1 HammerheadCAF with racer caf kernel also has the latest twrp so when it comes to flashing stuff I know what I'm doing.... anyway I noticed there is very little for the s6 compared to other devices ive bought from google so can you guys point me out to the most stable, most recent custom rom, looking for little to no bloatware As it takes up in size.... as far as the device goes I have not received it yet just getting prepared for when it does arrive. need directions to rooting and custom recovery as well not sure if the bootloader needs to be unlocked? I'm aware that this device is 64 bit so is that the reason for very little mods or just lack of devs?
I also noticed that there is such a thing called alliance framework which helps with customizing the rom as well as theming am I right?
all these things are considered so with that being said I would like to know what you guys are running and whats the best out there in your opinion at this point it time
Hi,
First regarding the most stable or best ROM, I suggest you to, as you probably did with the Nexus 5, look the threads and check for complaints of bugs and features, so that you can know what's the best for you. There are lots of debloated ROMs, and most say so already in the thread title.
About the lack of development, it's due to Samsung processor Exynos. Since Samsung takes too long or doesn't even release the processor documentation and development sources, it is very hard to develop anything that is not based on TouchWiz, which is Sammy's framework on the stock ROM. Recently the CyanogenMod Team took the Galaxy S6 as an official branch, so I believe that we will have a CM based ROM soon and I hope it will bring more development to our device!
I don't know about that framework, although if it's something that is used on the S6, then you will probably find it in any development or general section.
Rooting is as simple as flashing TWRP and SuperSU, although it'll trip your Knox, which is a flag in the bootloader that shows that something was modified in your device, there is no way to reverse and on most countries it results in void warranty. If your device ships with Android 5.0.2, then you can try using Ping Pong Root (again, just check the development threads for it), which is a root method that doesn't trip Knox.
I'm still running stock since I'm waiting to try out Samsung Pay, which requires untouched Knox. So yeah, welcome to the S6 family! Hope you enjoy your device . If I forgot to answer anything let me know.
All the best,
~Lord

Should I root my Galaxy S7?

Hi, I was thinking about rooting my Galaxy S7 and I know that KNOX will be tripped and I will not be able to use Samsung Pay, S Health or get OTA updates ever again but I was wondering was that it and what are your thoughts on rooting the galaxy s7 and if you think it's worth it? I want to dual boot King rom and RR Remix but I'm not sure if it's worth it?
I think that's a very subjective question for which the answer should come from you. But IMHO, since you are seeking opinions, I haven't felt the need to root mine [yet]. So far this is the only Android I've had that I haven't rooted - and I've had Androids since the original Motorola Droid. I haven't used Samsung Pay yet but I think that once I do I will become accustomed to it. For now I am holding off on rooting. I find that my S7 gives me most of what I want and I'm not missing root at all.

So why did you root before the s7? I ask because I plan on buying the s7 to BL unlock and run custom rom..
No, i dont think its worth it! Stock rom does a great job and even the backups work perfectly with the samsung cloud and also you can use Package Disabler Pro without root so thats all you need.

Thanks, I think unless they release a fully stable, feature packed AOSP rom I'm gonna stick with stock. I do like Android N for the Galaxy S7 and it's definitely a step in the right direction from Samsung :good:

Thanks for your opinion. I think your right, other than custom roms I don't really see a reason to root. I think unless they release a fully stable rom (like AOSP) that I really want I'm gonna stick to stock for now. I wish there was a way to get the dual speaker mod without root though, that would be good.

Gotcha
I honestly haven't rooted since my OnePlus days, and even then once I started using Google Wallet/Android Pay I reverted to stock. On my S4 I had to root to gain some of the functionality/customizations I wanted. With the OnePlus and my S7 Edge, the need just isn't there. Sure, I'd like to remove some of the AT&T bloat, but at least I can disable those apps which is good enough for me.

should I update to 7.0?

Hi Everyone,
I just got a used sm-920T (T-mobile Note5). It is asking me to get an OTA update but I am not sure if that is the best thing to do... What do you guys think? Is it better after the update?
I had note4 and it was performing really poorly with some roms, especially the battery. I am also thinking about rooting it and getting a custom 7.0 rom but I do not want to sacrifice battery life and performance.
Thanks.

Thanks.[/Quoted Dr ketans note 5 rom will work fine on your s6e+. Just flash the kernel your phone during install(A menu pops up and asks, yours is 928t). And also flash the call audio fix. You will need twrp recovery installed on your phone via odin. There's no loss of battery life and it's a touchwiz based rom. So you keep your samsung apps and whatnot. There are oreo roms out also floating around which is 8.0 but I don't think you should go there as a daily driver if you are not tech savvy. It's still a newer development. The Dr ketans rom and nemesis rom 7.0 nougat are both well used and tested, I simply prefer ketans.
