I got my Idol 3 all setup finally, got a custom rom (AlekOS) and I have it rooter, it's at marshmallow. But I went to put a pattern lock on it, it didn't work but when I went to try and change the lock to something else I'd have to enter it as if it was working. So I entered it and tried changing it to a pin code lock, now whenever I press the lock button on my phone it instantly unlocks itself which I hate, and whenever I go into the settings to change it and it asks me to enter the pin, when I enter it it says "Unfortunately settings has stopped" and I can't change it!

would unlocking the bootloader ( which wipes the device) do it ?
Did you try contacting Motorola?
I read that the stock recovery is messed up. If you want to factory reset then chose the option above, ie the text you see in the menu does not align with the actual option that will be chosen.

thanks for reply guys,
I dont want to unlock the bootloader as it voids the warranty.
I contacted Motorola, but no reply.
Is there any other way to factory reset this device?
BTW Happy New Year to all
Did you read my post just above yours? You use the stock recovery, just highlight the option ABOVE the option you actually want within the recovery.
cheers mate!

Hello , i have a huawei ascend p6 and before 1 month it started to reboot randomly. For example when i was using the phone suddenly it rebooted. I tried custom roms (omni and cyanogenmod) but nothing. Now i flashed the stock rom and the stock recovery and i have the same problem. I found out that when it boots up, at the starting screen (when google asks to put your email, time, wifi etc.) and when i try to put my wifi password, when i press a key from the keyboard it reboots... i dont know what to do, what do you think ? is it a hardware problem ? should i open the back case and remove the battery ? Sorry for my English, hope someone answers...

i just found out that it reboots because of vibration failure.. i thought it was the keyboard but no.. It reboots when something (for example a call, or when i unlock the device) try's to vibrate the phone.. I think this is a hardware problem.. I'll try to find a solution and i will post it here

LOL, i just realized why i couldnt use twrp 2.7.0.0 and 2.8.0.0, because when you tap on an option it vibrates.. thats why in twrp 2.6.3.3 it doesnt reboot, because it doesnt vibrate..
So, for those who have a huawei p6 device and it reboots randomly, you can do this to fix it :
Step 1) from Developer Options(settings-developer options-usb debugging) make sure to check Usb Debugging
Step 2) flash twrp 2.6.3.3 with fastboot https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2534420
Step 3) with twrp flash this rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/asc...ckbbn-t2986681
Step 4) Install SuperSu from twrp if it asks you to install it and update the binary when you open the app (tap the option TWRP/CWM)
Step 5) Disable your keyboard option to vibrate when you tap a key
Step 6) Install VibraFix from the Play Store ( Make sure to grant permissions from the SU and uncheck the "Ask me Again" option)
Step 7) Uncheck all the options in the app and leave the "Enable Vibrafix" and "Auto-start" option checked
This steps helped me to solve this problem..
if you have any questions i will try to answer..
Also because my English sucks, if you didnt understand something ask me and i will try to explain it better.

Greetings and welcome to assist. I can see you have already asked your question here

Got phone financed thru payjoy, it was cool until i realized how much control the app actually had, as stated in previous threads cannot change any options as a device administrator, and all developer options are grayed out except oem unlock, demo mode, Include bug report. Tried the master reset from recovery, states MDM doesnt allow... Come on already lol, HHHHHEEEEELLLLPPPPPP.
I wouldn't recommend it to be honest. It probably checks in with their servers regularly. They might come looking for it if it stops xD
Ok actually I have found a way to not only disable it but delete it, getting rid of it completely. I did it on my Note 5, message me

Why not just post the method here for everyone to use?
Pretty sure it involves setting screenlock security to reset the device after 10 wrong login attempts, then forcing those wrong attempts one after the other until the device factory resets itself
No actually it doesn't, it's been awhile see if I can refresh memory, after I figured it out, I thought wow how simple
If I remember correctly, in the security section of settings, there is a selection you can mark that forces a factory reset upon restart of device, therefore getting the pay joy as a device administrator. Then use a file manager, and find the com.app folder and delete the rest
This worked for me on a Samsung J7 Pro (G610M). Just enable OEM unlock at developer options!
1- Go to settings - lock screen and security and set a PIN lock, like 1234..
2- You will se a menu (Secure lock Settings), click on it and set "Auto factory reset". This opcion will factory reset your device after 15 wrong attempts to unlock the Screen.
3- Turn OFF the Screen and enter wrong the PIN code 15 times on your device, the the Phone automaticaly will reboot and it will perform a factory reset by it self. When it turns ON the "PLay Joy" will be erased.

yes your right, i apologize, but i wanna say that on the Note 5, i didnt have to do the so many wrong attempts, I was able to do and auto factory reset upon system reboot.
at the last try it give error:
"device turned off. contact IT admininstrator"
So, any solution guys ?
Have a note 8 with payjoy, none of these methods posted here has worked.
Any help with this payjoy?
Have a note 8 as well. Jas anyone figured it out yet.

why doesnt a factory firmware flash fix this? or even an unbranded flash like the U1? if the payjoy app has root/SU/admin rights and is able to make the phone a paperweight, then it should be removable with a factory flash with the regular CSC. @detection what am i missing about this? i mean after the FRP lock is bypassed that is

Hi,
I forgot my pattern unlock! Is there any way around this or am I screwed? my phone is un-rooted, stock ROM. Thanks.

You will be fine. Your last option is to reboot it into bootloader mode and factory reset it....that always works. But there is a better option.
Get to a computer or another device and hit the link below and log into your Google account. Lock the phone and give it a new PIN. Google will push the PIN to the phone and you can unlock it. You will probably have to pull down the top status bar to tap on the 'find my phone' notification to bring up the PIN page.

On Android Oreo Beta, after rebooting my device it asked me PIN. However, I didn't set it and everything I tried to enter ended up eith "Wrong PIN". What should I do?
Ok, I didn't know it.
Now I need to enter PIN which is set for unlocking phone to start Android. Sorry for flood.
Maybe pin from sim card ?
