Recent apps disappear - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

Anyone less have issue were their recent apps disappear? I'll click the button and it says no recent apps, no matter what app I open. Only way to resolve I've found is to reboot and wholla, there they are.

I've had this happen a few times. Not sure what triggers it. One time a reboot fixed it, the other time it just came back. It's been described by others on other forums.
If the phone is 'locked' it won't display your history or recent apps and generally doesn't let you access the phone (sometimes this happens if I'm using Nav--other options to access the phone won't work until I formally unlock it again). But not sure this is the case here.
I was thinking maybe it's a RAM issue, but of course, how else to clear RAM but to clear all your running apps? But oops, you can't specifically do that!

Facebook for Android

I'm using Facebook for Android and people that posts pictures in the news feed all I see is an empty box and when I click on it, the picture tries to load and all i see is a black screen. If I go into manage applications and clear data/cache it usually fixes the issue but goes right back the next time I open facebook. Does anyone else experience this or know how to correct this issue?
Not sure what's going on. Mine's working just fine. Always has. The only issue I have is with opening notifications (sometime's requires a double tap or even a triple tap, and I don't get the same notifications as I do on my laptop). But as far as your issue goes, maybe try uninstalling and re-installing it? Could have possibly been a bad download, maybe. I've had that happen before. An app wasn't working right, so I took it off and then put it back on, and it worked fine.

I just noticed that when I go to app settings from my computer I don't see that Facebook for Android is listed in there so maybe the permissions aren't set up correctly? Can someone please verify if the app is listed there or not?
I already tried to uninstall/reinstall no success.
The facebook app for android has always been a FLAMING pile of trash. It has gotten slightly better over the years, but not by much. It's about the only think blackberry has a step up on android with lol. It's always SOMETHING with that app. The latest for me is i will get notifications, but then when i click on the status or whatever that the update happened in, i have to hit refresh to actually get it to show what was posted. GARBAGE.
Yeah, the app its terrible. I've recently learned that deleting a post is possible, but only if you swipe the post left a certain way.
Regardless, I just use dolphin and go to the website directly using desktop UA.
Ever since i posted here about my issues Facebook has been running flawless

[Q] Tapping a recent app opens a different program

At random times when I tap the thumbnail for recent app the wrong app will open up. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
I'm running the factory ROM and I'm not rooted. I recently did a factory reset and the problem still occurs.
I don't have a solution, but i have also noticed that happening. At first i thought it was my imagination and that i was just absent mindedly hitting the wrong app.

I can confirm the issue. Fortunately it doesn't occur frequently, but it must definitively due to some bug in the touchwiz.
Well, it does happen quite frequently on my device; like 4-5 times a day. This is somewhat frustrating.
It mainly occurs when I frantically switch between apps, hence at the worst possible times... Any help?
(For referencing, as those keywords did not popup in my googling: app switcher, wrong app)
If you wait 1-2 seconds after hitting the switch task button before selecting a task, the bug does not exhibit itself.
Couldn't find any reference about this problem on Google either.
Would love to see it fixed, it's a PITA!
My solution is to press about half a second before releasing, if you press long enough you get up a menu though so somewhere before the app gets a blue frame around to the menu pops up.
Also, I've noticed that it doesn't accure as frequently if at all when using the pen.. But maybe that's just mine, and I don't really like using the pen for such "browsing" so it's not really a solution.

[Q] Slow Home Behavior

Hello everyone!
Let me start off by saying that i'm actually using an unrooted, officially update nexus 5, updated to the latest 5.0.1
I have no problem whatsoever, battery really seem to have improved, but lately i've been getting a strange behavior
After a period of use (it goes from a couple of days to a whole week) the phone oddly slows down when i press the middle button, to return back to the homescreen.
For example, if I'm using the facebook app, and watch a couple of videos along with opening a few external links, when i press the home button, the whole home "loads" from start. I mean, i literally see nothing for a second, then it slowly loads widgets and icons. After it's been loaded, everything works flawlessly again, but if i open facebook again, use it for a while and press the home screen, it loads again.
Mind that i have no custom drawer (i tried Themer, it gives me the same error, it says "loading homescreen" when the problem appears) but the problem is still there with the stock homescreen. I tried force-closing the apps i used, thinking about a memory issue, but to no avail. I have to turn off and turn on the device, and everything works wonders again.
Is there any app that could help me with this issue? I'd like to understand why it's doing this and which app is slowing down my phone.

I am not Sure whether this is 100% sure, But have heard that there is a memory leak issue in lollipop. Which might be the reason of ur problem. And the oly way get enough memory is to restart. But again, I am not Sure whether the above information is correct though.

I've heard that too, but it's strange that it has appeared only now. I haven't had this kind of issue ever since i updated it.
The FB app is just real buggy. My personal theory is whatever that app does exposes the Lollipop memory leak.

Yep i know about that, the FB app is just horrible script-wise. Nevertheless, i've never had THIS problem. And even if i forceclose it, it doesn't solve the problem anyway.

Recent apps view

Several of my apps does not show up when I hit the recent apps soft key. Of the apps I frequently use that does not show is Facebook, Messenger and Dolphin Browser..
Anybody else experienceing the same issue?
This is quite annoying... Am I the only one who have this issue?
I couldn't tell you (don't remember) what apps were guilty but I've noticed the same thing with several different apps.

I did a check just now, and actually most of the apps I tried did not show up when touching the recent apps soft key. It's also not consistent which apps does not show ?

The recent apps is literally the apps that you accessed most recently (not most frequently). Depending on your Chrome setting (if you are using the Chrome browser) you may have your tabs out in the recent screen as well.
The list will always change, depending on what you looked at last and in what order
I just went to the three apps you mentioned in sequence, and they show up on my recent apps screen.

I know how the recent apps view is supposed to work, so that's not the problem.. As I mentioned in my last post theres some inconsistency in wich apps does not show, but some of them never seems to show. It also sometimes happen that I'm unable to remove all apps from the list. They show up the next time I hit the recent apps soft key.
I'm on build number:
MMB29K.G930FXXU1APB4
I see, that's odd. Not sure what to make of it. I am build APB5, maybe that matters. Verizon pushed out an update last week for March security and to fix wifi issues, if you are on Verizon give it a shot and see if it helps.

I'm from Norway and my phone is not tied to any operator. I am also on the latest update available in my region. I guess I could try to do a facory reset, and see if it helps. But I don't think I'll bother anytime soon..
Problem solved
It seems like i finally found a solution to my problem
After investing a whole day doing several factory resets and installing of apps and settings in different order each time I tracked the problem down to an app I use, called Sidebar Plus. I installed this app and its settings with the help og Helium and all of a sudden some of my apps refused to show in the recent apps view. I then uninstalled Sidebar Plus, did a reboot, and all of my apps now show up in the recent apps view as they should
I now have installed Side Apps Bar - Edge Sidebar instead, and everything seems fine :good:

Marshmallow problems with spontaneous launching of Google Now, taking over device.

My phone has been misbehaving since it upgraded the OS to Marshmallow. It was primarily occurring with the Google Now app and it would take over the phone and flash up and off the screen and whilst this was going on, the phone is busy vibrating, the screen became unresponsive and generally I couldn't do anything with it during these episodes. I stopped it sending to the screen and then it was the Google app that kept flashing up, starting with a round circle coming from the app drawer icon. It has got worse over the last few days to the point that it might take me ten minutes before I could get access to the caller to make a call and even trying to shut down the device was near impossible because the confirmation box never stayed on the screen long enough to answer the question and then it didn't come back. Yesterday, after many tries to restart, it finally restarted in safe mode. If it was related to an app that I downloaded, it should have stopped then but it didn't. When I was able to get into settings, I then went to apps and then disabled google app as this was the one starting up and flashing the screen non stop. I was then asked if I wanted to replace it with a factory version which I did but I also left it disabled. The problem has continued but not as ferociously with the screen becoming unresponsive at times while the buzzing from the vibrate still occurring. I have looked up various forums but haven't found any that have similar problems described. I checked the screen overlay settings and they are enabled and that seems to be the main problem with marshmallow. I'm looking for some advice but realise that this might be too basic for this forum? When you updated to Nougat, what method did you use to update? Did you update via OTA? We're you rooted when you did it?
Have you tried booting to recovery and factory resetting and wiping cache then rebooting?

It was an update that appeared on my notifications and I thought it was a small bug fix update and didn't realize that it would replace the entire OS. I just allowed the update and then realized what had happened. I think it is Marshmallow that it updated to but originally the app drawer was paginated and accessed by side swipes whereas the system now is a long page of apps moved up and down. I don't know if it was rooted and I assume that that means it wasn't.
I was trying to avoid a factory reset but I did wipe the cache and rebooting. When google apps is disabled, the interruptions are less often and not for as long but it still went into a complete meltdown of a screen appearing and disappearing at such a rate that nothing can be done with it. It won't show a video because of the interruptions.

Unfortunately, I think you're gonna have to factory reset in stock recovery because there's obviously a conflict with something you already had on the device and it isn't playing nice with something that was in the update.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have resigned myself to that although it does not seem to be anything that I downloaded to the phone as it occurred in safe mode too. I was just hoping that there was a fix out there but obviously it is not a widespread occurrence.

It could have been something in system that got changed during the update but the data from before the change is still there and conflicting with whatever changes were made. Some kind of saved system data that can only be wiped by factory reset or reflashing.

I did a factory reset, lost a lot of photos that had started being saved on the phone and not the sdcard after the upgrade to Marshmallow. Have had to accept that but unfortunately the bizarre behavior did not stop and it continues on and off, sometimes so bad that I cannot dial a number on it and other times it happens but I can get in between the action and dial or send a text etc. I have gradually been stopping things like notifications from google apps and traffic reports from google maps (this may have had a good effect) and anything that might be doing constant checks. It seems to have quietened down over the last day or so and I even got to play a game on it but the next option is to send it away to an engineer. I just thought that I would let you know the outcome of the factory reset.
