Google has that sync option, but beware, It only backups the app data of apps that you logged in with your Google account. But before you do anything, Google "backup Android phone" or best ways to backup Android". Remember: always search google before asking on XDA
Hope I helped,

Sending phone back, best way to back things up?

After having nothing but trouble with my Sensation since June, I finally decided it needed to go back to Tmobile for a replacement. Thankfully I held off on rooting it since I know that can be a very hit or miss situation to fix prior to returning it. What is the best way to back up my apps and data so that I can get the new phone "looking" like this one? Clearly I can not root, so I need a solution that does not require tinkering. I have heard that all apps downloaded from the official Market should be available again (at no charge), can anyone confirm this? If so, how do I go about getting those apps? Also, will the same happen for free daily apps I downloaded from the Amazon App store?
Hi,
I'm also waiting for maturity and ease on rooting/unrooting this phone for the same reason you are
I had to do a factory reset on my Sensation after a couple of weeks and was pleasantly surpised to not only get my contacts back but all the apps I'd installed via Market.
Ensure both boxes are checked under "backup and restore" in Privacy settings and that you've been synchronizing with Google ok and you should get all the Market apps + your contacts and also your settings (like notification, ringtone etc) back
Sorry dunno about Amazon. Hope this helps.

That is interesting. Now, the question is did that work because you were using the same device? I am wondering how it works once you switch to a totally new piece of hardware with a different ESN and so forth.
You will keep all your maket app. Also, your Amazon app store purchase will be there if you sign in with the same account. Just backup your contact info to google and that should be it. The only thing that you will lose is app settings and data.

Use SMS Backup in the market, remember to keep your current SD csrd, the backup will be on it. Backup with Gmail works good too, both are available in the market.

Use MyBackup Root if you're rooted. It saves your stuff on your SD card and you can restore it on a new device.

You will be able to keep all of your amazon appstore and market purchases. You just have to redownload them while signed into the same gmail account that you made the original transaction. Be wary of some game apps however.. I remember there was a problem for some users using Gameloft apps where they were unable to redownload the games they had purchased and were told by the company that they had to repurchase them for use on their new device. I haven't had the problem since I back up with Titanium, but if root is not an option, then you've been warned

Device backup not showing in restore options

Hi,
I have a very frustrating problem. I have an NVIDIA Shield tablet that has been recalled due to a battery problem. I have the replacement tablet here and when I go through trying to set it up I do not see the backup of the old tablet as an available source to restore onto the new tablet.
I have verified that Android Device Manager is enabled AND that my old tablet shows up in my Google account. I can also locate the device from my Google account.
Even with all of that working, I still do not see my old tablet listed as a source to restore onto my new tablet. (I do see several other Android devices that I own in the list.)
I have attempted clearing the cache from Google Play Services but that did not work either. I also thought that maybe I was missing an update to Google Play Services but I can't seem to find it in the store.
Would appreciate any suggestions!
TIA!
you will mot see that never as google only recognise the board name and in your case google take it as you have factory reset your device and setting up on same device as both have same motherboard names and other specs.

Thanks for the reply!
I'm a bit confused on this because I DO see both tablets in the device manager in my Google account. Are the backups managed differently?
what type of back up are you talking about.

The regular automatic backup of data provided by the android device manager
it will be automatically restored if automatic backup and automatic restore are onn in backup and resetoption.
when ever you will install an app the settings and data will be automatically restored.

OK thanks!
The strange thing is that there is a list of devices to restore to the new tablet (my phone and Google TV) but the old tablet is missing.
If I understand what you are saying I should just set the new tablet up as a "new device" and all of my apps (and their data) that were on the old tablet will automatically get installed on the new tablet.
apps will not be installed automatically.
if you install app the data of app will be restoref

I was just having some issues with my restore and had to respond to this app because it frustrates me when people give such wrong responses with such confidence.
Apps will be installed with the backup and google has been doing this for years... long before this answer came out. Later they added a setting restore and the past few years it even remembers your password for certain apps that the developers have used the api.
I dont have an answer to the initial question as my issue is similar... (ironically enough my shield is showing up but not other devices i want to restore the backup from.
Setup an old device as if it were new?
I want to use a newer device to restore from, which has all apps and settings. This since my my old device does not have an app that can no longer be found in PlayStore. Is it possible to set up an old device as if it were new? I tried deleting the old device in myaccount.google, but when re-installing I can only select the old device to restore from.
thanks

Best app for backup of apps, desktop, etc

I buy and sell phones to try the new stuff and previously had been strictly with iOS. I'm just now getting in the game with Android again, and was wondering what app is most similar to an iCloud or iTunes backup?
I see some things on the internet, but they are a little dated. It looks like Helium back-up is a good choice?
My contacts are all stored with Google or Microsoft Exchange at work, my photos are stored with Google or Dropbox. Text messages I don't care too much about, nor call history.
I just want the hundred or so apps that I have downloaded to download again and also to be placed on the home page in the same folder that I had before.
Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Are you rooted? If yes try to buy titanium backup pro. Definitely worth the penny.

Titanium is the BEST
..BUT YOU NEED ROOT
I dont think titanium restores app properly, many app gives force close
Sent from my SM-N920G using XDA-Developers mobile app
titanium is the best for rooted devices, however it does not arrange icons in folders like you mentioned
I have never had a problem with titanium imo it's the best

I don't see any other option even closer to Titanium.
You need to learn about titanium how and what to do and what not to do.
I have some app +contacts +messages carry forwarded since samsung galaxy s (my first Android) to Note 1- 2-3-4 and currently on N5
See here a message I received on 2011 and still now on my device
Thanks to Titanium

synchronize dedicated watch app with Health again

Hi,
I uninstalled Health app from my phone (Huawei) and when I installed it again only the last activity from my watch synchronized. There are more of them in History (I'm using the app dedicated to the Huawei watch and Health app) and I'd like them to be visible in Health app on the mobile as well but I don't know how to achieve it.
I've tried to synchronize all apps in Wear OS app but it doesn't work.
Any ideas?
Unless you backed up Huawei Health on your mobile and restored it, you lost the data.
This is a big issue with Huawei and have already logged this with them, but don't think they going to do anything about it

Gosh, I was afraid someone would say this.
I had deleted my account, which deleted all activities of course, because I couldn't use Cloud and I tried to fix it. It still doesn't work, but nevermind, however I have no idea how to make a back up of Health, I tried to make it from HiSuite on my computer, but it didn't back up the activities the app contained
When you backup on phone remember to tell it to backup data as well. Also if you were previously using a non Huawei device or switching to non Huawei device you also lose the dats

what's best way to transfer everything from my old phone to my new p40pro

my current phone is oppo find x
i'd spent alot of time in setting up my theme and page, especially on icon editing,
i believe this setup will be store or backup in my nova launcher? but im not sure
is there any way i could totally move everything to my new phone without much change?
is google backup still viable? if so, i should setup those gms stuff 1st before restore my google?
thanks for any advice.
The Chinese version of Android machines (including Huawei, of course) will have the machine clone app pre-installed.
It is available in the corresponding application market of the machine, and the installation is very convenient. For the replacement of Huawei machines, new and old machines can be seamlessly operated
You can use Phone clone to copy from old to new. If you are using Nova launcher on your old phone, use the backup functionality in the launcher, install Nova on the new, restore the backup.

I copied mine after the GMS setup. Bcuz I was worried in case that one of the apps might be looking for a Gmail account on my p40 pro

Phone clone will transfer all of your content! However itll also transfer apps, So its 100% worth using, I would deffo check out petal search on the new device! I love my p40 pro
If you want to transfer data like app, contacts, sms, music, photos, videos, books, call logs, the best way is using phone transfer software. By using such tool, you can transfer data from your old phone to you new p40pro directly on computer via USB cable or wifi connecting. It's ease and safe.
phoneclone / hisuite
