Headphone port issues on OnePlus One - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, recently I've started having some issues with the headphone port on my OnePlus One:
When headphones (not a headset, no microphone or button) are connected, any media that might be playing will either get paused, or the Google Now voice search will appear. This happens especially often if turning the headphone jack in the port, or if I'm watching a YouTube video (don't think it's a software problem), but I digress. If the headphone jack is being bent even slightly (even from just having one finger resting on it while keeping the device in landscape) the audio will somehow warp. I don't know how to describe it, but basically usually speech either goes completely silent, and background music/audio keeps playing at normal volume, or the speech gets really distant and echoey.
I don't know what's up. I looked around online, and the only thing I could find is that there might be some dirt stuck inside the port. I don't have a can of compressed air at hand, but if needed, I can most likely get one.
The device is the OnePlus One (A0001) and it's running CyanogenOS 13.1 (Android 6.0. 1). It's not rooted.
Thanks in advance

Music Skipping And Voice Dialer Self-starting

I've noticed this since I bought my htc inspire 4G the phone (I had other issues before such as low battery life, vibration feedback simply not working, etc - I hard reset the phone and those went away, but this is back), and I'm wondering if it's my hardware, or the software.
Basically, if I'm listening to music (Pandora or the Music app), it'll randomly hit Next song - if it's the music app, it'll be a mish-mash of fast forward and next track. This is with the phone screen off or on. When it starts happening I turn the screen on and notice it jumping all over, and I've not touched anything. Additionally, while this is happening, voice dialer opens over and over after I close it, and sometimes it'll just start making a call to the last dialed/received number (which is making me a hit with all my friends).
Finally, I say possessed because this is not consistent. For example, I'm listening to Pandora now with no issues. However, the fact that I have to even worry about this happening again
You are using incompatible headphones. You didn't mention headphones but it explains everything. You need to use headphones that have a mic. These headphones have 4 gold contacts on the plug. Without a mic it only has 3. The big contact at the bottom is grounding out 2 connections causing your phone to switch tracks and make calls. Get correct headphones with a mic. You have to remember this is a phone and not a simple mp3 player.

[Q] HTC One X AT&T Music Player issue.

Hi everyone. I just got an HTC One X on AT&T today from the store. Up until today I had owned an SIII also from AT&T. The music player on the SIII kept freezing and the auto correct wasn't working so I changed to the One X. I listen to music a lot on my phones so I expect the music player to be reliable. Anyway, the music player on the HTC One X is great, however, it's been skipping to the next track without my touching the screen before the current song is finished. I was questioning my sanity because I figured maybe I was bumping the screen, but the player just skipped to the next song a few minutes ago and my hand was nowhere near it. Has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to eliminate it?
Naturally, this is somewhat discouraging as I've only had the phone for a matter of hours. A friend of mine is pressuring me to get an iPhone 5 (blasphemy!) and I'm actually considering getting one since android is clearly not cutting it at the moment. I understand there are other music players on the market but the simple reality of it is that I shouldn't have to download a 3rd party music app, plus, I actually like the stock app.
Thanks for reading!
EDIT: My library is all MP3 files, not an internet radio type thing if it wasn't obvious. The skipping doesn't happen too often, maybe a few times an hour. Beats audio is enabled when this happens, I haven't tried without.
Same Problem!
I have the same problem, when I'm listening to music the voice dialer suddenly pops up and starts dialing numbers from my call history to recent dialed or received numbers. this is so irritating. I installed an app called "headset Blocker" from Google play, it stopped the problem. But my question is why doesn't this phone support other companies earphones? And also whenever I put my headset into it, it displays the symbol of a headphone with mic, is it normal? If not what is the solution to this?

The reply above also raises an interesting point. Are you listening with headphones that have controls? Could you be pressing them, to make the track skip? If they are headphones meant for an iPhone, the buttons may not be doing what you think they should. Or their might be a short in the headset or the headset jack on the phone, that is making the phone think you are pressing the headset button. Have you tried another set of headphones, or listening on the phone's speaker?
Otherwise, try a factory reset, and if that doesn't solve it, swap it for a new one. Its not Android itself, I've never had this problem. Just a hardware or software defect with your particular handset, which can happen on any device, including the iPhone.

What do you mean by "support"? Do you mean, why don't the control buttons work on some headsets? Its because those controls were designed to work for an iPhone. Unfortunately, there aren't many headphones with buttons that work on Android out-of-the-box, but the mic should work fine (as well as the earphone audio, of course).
If you are trying to use a headset designed for the iPhone, and want the buttons to work, try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.chobirich.tools.mediabutton&feature=also_installed

Yes, that is normal. All it means is that headphones are attached. A bit obvious (as in, why do you need an icon to tell you that?). But intentional, nonetheless.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
I am using a pair of Sennheiser headphones, there are no controls on them. I performed a hard reset but the problem persists although less frequently. Do you still think I should exchange it for a new one? Since you brought up software defects, I will add that when I restart the phone or power it off, then back on; when I unlock the screen the dialer is shown instead of the home screen. This only happens during the first unlock, so to speak, after restarting. Of course I just press the Home key to get back to the home screen, but it's still a nuisance.
No controls in my earphone.
No, I'm not using earphones with controls. I'm just using an earphone I got from my previous android phone because the At&t version of HTC One X did NOT come with earphones. But I must say, when I listen to music without the earphones, everything is perfect, but when I insert my earphone the voice dialer keeps popping up, the clarity of music deteriorates, tracks go forward and backward and what not. This is also happening while watching videos using earphones. That is why I asked if this phone supports all standard 3.5mm jack earphones or only HTC earphones.

[Q] Play/Pause when you place pressure on the headphone jack

Hi there everyone,
First post so take it easy on me :highfive:
I bought a HTC One S a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it a lot but one problem keeps me stumped. Whenever I am listening to a podcast (via the Doggcatcher app) and I have the phone in my pocket, I notice that a small amount of pressure on the headphone jack will cause the audio to pause. Often this happens when I am picking something from the floor or just when walking. I've disabled play/pause when headphone is removed in the app settings itself (as I figured this may be the cause, even though I wasn't removing the headphones) but it hasn't changed anything.
Has anyone else had this issue? I'm using the out of the box HTC earbuds.

[Completed] Samsung S7 Edge - No Sound

OK here goes - if someone could help I'd really appreicate it...
Galaxy S7 Edge - light drop resulted in smashed screen. Did a screen/frame replacement myself... which worked a treat.
However have noticed that the loudspeaker now no longer works... So no ringtone, music on media play or alarm etc. Also did the *#o*# speaker test - again no sound on speaker (Receiver test on internal speaker is fine)... just the main external loudspeaker which has packed up.
Wondered if I'd blown/damaged during my screen install/phone drop - so I bought a new loudspeaker - but to no avail, still no sound.
So then I checked both my original & the freshly bought new speaker in both a multimeter and via hooking them up to another phone - BOTH UNITS WORKED! - So at least I know that the speaker units that I'm using are both fine. But put either back into my phone and no sound! ARRRGHHH
Have flashed (via Odin) G935FXXU1BPLB_G935FBTU1BPK3_BTU (v6.0.1 UK) - again no sound. Have additionally since let phone auto-update to 7.0 via OTA update - but again still no sound.
All other functions on phone are perfect (including listening to media/music via headphones).
Looking on web, I see a few people experiencing no sound since screen replacement and or flashing and I have tried the host of suggestions offered - everything from pause music and reboot, reboot with headphones in/out, toggle Power Save mode on/off, toggle Bluetooth on/off, clean out the headphone jack (sound works fine coming through headphone jack BTW just main speaker that wont play anything) and ensured speaker pads are definately contacting the mainboard pins etc.
The only thing I've not been able to yet try is "Emergency Software Recovery and initialization" via Smart Switch as Smart Switch simply freezes whenever I select this option (no follow up pop up window) - though phone is recogniosed.
Anyone else expericence this kind of no sound issue? or know of a sensible (cheap!) solution.
Regards
Mike
Think I've managed to find problem myself - if not solved it... sadly.
Used an old loudspeaker from a long since unused phone - soldered up a couple of wires to the terminals for ease of handling and turned on my phone - ran the speaker test (*#0*#) so continuous sound playing (if not heard!)... touching the wires from the bodged loudspeaker on the main PCB mainboard terminals got nothing, though then grounding one wire elsewhere and hey presto - sound once more from my phone!
So looking like a cold solder on the main PCB mainboard!... Reflowing is beyond me, so I now need to hunt around for a decent company who do PCB repairs!
Not quite the 'Have you tried wiping the cache' fix I was hoping for unfortunately... Not sure if PCB damaged in the drop or in the screen repair - but thought would post findings in case someone with exact same circumstances etc.
Regards
Mike

Do external DACs circumvent the "high volumes" warning?

TL;DR - See thread title.
Full story:
I'm sure everyone knows about the "Listening at high volumes may damage your hearing" message. Well, I don't ever wear headphones; I plug my phone into my car's Aux jack. The warning is completely irrelevant.
My issue - when I am driving, my phone likes to randomly reset its output level back to nominal.
Mid-song, middle of a podcast, no specific app. Sometimes multiple times in a day. Sometimes weeks in between. Unpredictable.
I need to keep my phone's volume all the way up to get a decent signal-to-noise ratio for my car stereo. If I leave the phone below the warning/nominal level, I have to turn the stereo up a lot louder, and it sounds noisy.
If I'm driving down the highway, I prefer to never interact with my phone. If the "Listening at high volumes may damage your hearing" nanny-ware popup decides to appear while I'm trying to drive, and I've got another hour left before I get home, this demands I look at my phone to correct the issue. Unsafe.
My car only has an Aux input, and I think 1/8" Bluetooth adapters sound like garbage. I want to continue using analog connectivity.
So, back to my original question - Does anyone have experience with $100-tier external DACs paired with a Moto One 5G Ace? When in use, does the Moto recognize these devices as "headphone jacks," or line outputs that require no headphone volume warning?
I'm willing to drop the money if it will actually solve my nagging safety issue.
