[Completed] App to automatically turn off data / password lock - XDA Assist

Hi, I've spent the last 2 days searching for an app which will turn off mobile (cell) data once a limit has been reached. The app must have some sort of password / pin lock so it can't simply be turned back on after the limit has been reached.
Settings which also allow you to tell it which day of the month to reactivate the mobile (cell) data.
Reason for this is, I have a teenage daughter who I am considering getting an s6 or 7 for her birthday but the only affordable price plan comes with 1gb of data but the network doesn't cap usage from their end and I don't want any unexpected bills.
If I have to root / install xposed, I don't mind as I have prior knowledge on how to do all of that, I just haven't stumbled upon anything which will do what I'm asking.
Hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Chiller.

Writing new program

Hi all.
Like others, sorry if this is in the incorrect spot.
Just wondering if some of the developers might be able to write programs for usage.
Here in Australia, moble carriers charge a connection fee, then a set cost per 30 seconds.
How hard would it be for someone to write a program whereby you can monitor your usage by the $ ( or pound) and have it reset each month.
The settings section could enable you to enter your carriers monetory values. eg connection fee $0.37 calls per 30 sec $0.40 text msg $0.25, etc (everyone will be different due to differing charges via their carrier)
Every month it would reset itself to start from zero again.
That way you could keep an eye on your usage - especially if you are on a cap plan
Personally, I'd like to see it written for Android, but need a starting point somewhere.
I've searched android for some usage applications and have found a few that track usage through time (eg 400 minutes free) but nothing based on the $$$ side.
Any thoughts? Or is there something already done like this? By the way, I'm with Telstra if someone has found something for them.

Lost Phone

hello i have lost mu phone last night and i was wondering if it was possible to turn the phone to loud some how remotely after the fact kinda like Plan B gps tracking, ive been using the plan b but it is not accurate and i was wondering if anyone knew of another idea thanks
Did you have mobile security on your account and the app installed?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Try Plan B. Free on the market. Read the details here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb
May be able to help you locate your phone AFTER you lose it. Never used it but looks like it will only work if your phone is on and has a data connection. Will send you its location via GMail, after that, you can text your phone from a friend's phone to try to pinpoint it. Good luck!
If you find it, I would buy SeekDroid or something.
Log onto the Security programs website? I use T-Mobile Security

[APP][1.6+] Internet (Data/Wifi) Lock

Internet Lock enables you to protect your Wifi and Data Connection by setting up a secret PIN. Nobody will be able to connect Wifi/Data Connection unless they know the secret PIN.
I created this application after my prepaid balance got exhausted numerous times due to my kid clicking on some ads which will cause data charges
The application prevents incurring data charges due to accidental clicks on ads or delibrate attempts to use internet on your device.
Simple, Effective and Lightweight!
It does not require complex configurations or anything, you can just install the application, setup a pin and get protected in seconds. It is very lightweight and requires very less disk space and memory.
The application can be downloaded from google play store play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.msappz.internetlocklite OR downloaded from attachment.

Hello forum !
I just found this app because i try to avoid an accidentally switching on of mobile data on my parents tablet.
You know, it's very easy to switch mobile data on by just pulling down the bar on android 4.2 and click on the mobile data switch.
Unfortunately this happened a few times to my parents already and with their prepaid card, every activation of mobile data is charged with 2 Euro (per day).
I tried out this app on my phone today, but for me it seems that it activates mobile data first and only after that asks for the code.
But in this case, the 2 Euro would already be gone ...
Is this correct or is the app really blocking all traffic until keying in the password ?
I'm not able to try it out on my parents tablet right now, so i would be happy for an answer.
Thanks
Thorsten
Good work buddy.

You don't know how much did you helped me ?
in the login screen, press home button then you can go internet. useless app
App is not working.

Really need help fixing tethering

Hi there all,
In early versions of Android it was impossible for phone networks to track which internet usage was tethering, but that has changed in recent versions. That means networks can now impose limits and restrictions.
There are a number of apps on the App Store that offer to "fix your tethering" but many of these require root access. A suggestion that I received was that, instead of doing that, using a user agent changer on your PC web browser when tethering might help but that didn't work. In my search for other ways around this, I heard that if you were to enter "settings put global tether_dun_required 0" using ADB then this would help but this hasn't worked for me. I also read a suggestion involving changing "tether_entitlement_check_state" but that also failed.
For me I don't have a data limit on tethering, so that's not why I'm trying to get around it - I'm trying to get around it because they restrict the speed on a tethered connection. It runs full speed on my phone but not tethering and it's driving me crazy. They didn't advertise this at the time I took out the contract so I'm now stuck in a lengthy contract with them on an unfair basis. Any help on this would be appreciated. If it helps it's a Galaxy S6 on Android 5.0.2 and on the Three UK network.
EDIT: By the way I have tried searching for other threads on this forum and elsewhere that might answer my question but to no avail. I read somewhere that there may be a way around it using a different APN but I tried experimenting with this and got nowhere. I'm just hoping someone will tell me if there is any way to fix this without root access, and why perhaps what I've tried hasn't been working.
Just bumping this thread as its dropped off the first page. Hoping someone can help

Associate pledge

Hey guys, first post here, please move if in the wrong spot. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with associate pledge on a work phone? I currently have an old Kyocera with associate pledge installed but I can simply turn off location or go into power saver mode to disable it. (For anyone who doesn't know it's an app that locks out your phone and notifies your employer when you go over 5mph and try to use it) Anyway they're upgrading me to a Samsung Galaxy s7, and I hear through the grapevine that the IT department 1: disabled turning location services off because everyone was getting around the pledge and 2: disabled mobile hotspot. Not that they don't pay through mobile hotspot still, The button is just greed out and you can't turn it on anymore. And I hear for the location you can turn it off but minutes later it kicks right back on. Now don't drive an text, or any of that, I really just want to use the navigation app on the phone because I've burnt out my personal phone keeping it on the charger and using gps all day, I drive a lot. They won't reimburse me, so I'd rather use their phone instead of the new personal one I'll have to get. If anyone can help let me know.. Thanks!!
