I got bored one fine day and decided to create a hidden book case for the HP touchpad, which I bought ages ago like so many others at the firesale prices.

I followed directions on how to do this here: https://heatherrivers.com/how-to-hollow-out-a-book
It took a little running around, getting an appropriately sized book, gathering the glue, clamping everything together, cutting out the center, sizing everything properly, and so on.
The result speaks for itself. I got a lot of compliments for it, however, and I suppose that makes it worth it.
I don’t really use it anymore, since the touchpad now resides on the touchstone, and is used for occasional news browsing and primarily as an active photo frame, randomly displaying assorted images I’ve loaded onto it.
As an amusing aside, I let the nieces borrow this along with the touchpad for a while, and a friend of the sister-in-law’s dropped by their place, where she was initially thrilled to see the book itself, being a big fan of Fleetwood Mac. Her pleasure upon finding a good book about her favorite band turned rapidly to surprise and ultimately dismay upon seeing that the center of this book was hollowed out to receive a tablet computer. :crying: (*Sad trombone sound*)
So what are your thoughts on this nifty little item?
I'm not using this anymore, does anyone here want to buy this?
(My touchpad largely resides now on the touchstone as a animated picture frame)

So I was on YouTube today just browsing through videos and I stumbled upon this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzCZQOsdROc
Well, like the sucker I am, I was going to go to the website and and see how much they wanted for it so I could buy one, because I just HATE THAT STUPID BUZZING!
Went to the site: http://stopthebuzzin.com/
Was looking at pictures:

Hmm... Looks like it could be anything. Who knows what makes it work.
And then I saw this picture:
Wow, they're silver, but they're semi-transparent! That's just like... an anti-static bag!
So in my infinite wisdom, I went to my cache of antistatic bags and pulled one out. I turned my stereo on and set the phone right in front of it. "Buzzzzzz buzzz buzzzzzzz" came from the speakers. So, I moved it on top of the anti-static bag... and it was GONE!
So yeah, they're just selling mini anti-static bags that come with any new computer part that you buy. You could probably get them for free from your local computer shop.
If you have one laying around... try it! It works!
Great find! I'm surprised I never thought of this, never really annoyed me enough to do research on it.
Now I just need an anti-static bag large enough to house my laptop, which also causes this, but is far worse.
So basically it's an RF shield like most electronics have inside them. However, your phone depends on certain RF frequencies being transmitted, so I can be reasonably certain that using an RF shield could certainly also reduce reception.
So while you could shield nearby wires/speakers, etc, shielding the phone itself would certainly be a bad idea.
Well after leaving my night stand cluttered for so long I finally decided to clean it up. I have always just had a hat that I would throw my change and keys in and would tuck my ac cord under so that it wouldnt slide away but today I just grew tired of that. You see my wife has this sunglass holder that sits on her vanity with her sunglasses but really just collects dust. So today I decided that I would take ownership and create something to solve my cluttered night stand. I first broke out my drill and took the sunglass holders off only to then countersink the screws that held the wood to the plexi glass. After that I cut a quarter size whole in the top for this jewel to become my new piggy bank(will find myself saving change instead of taking it all the time). After that I added some leg wholes for andy to rest atop the mountain. The next features were towel hooks to hold my phone, ipod touch, keys, and watch. All and all I am pleased with my setup however am going to order some stickers for the wood to make more appealing. So what do you think??

Thanks, I just think the best thing is how I have a piggy bank now that is a pain to get into. Figure I'll wait till its full and buy a new device with all that change

Hi everyone!
A few months ago I reached out online looking for a chance to get into Android design, and met a fellow online who had a simple app idea he was working on.
We began our work, and after a few weeks I'm finally able to post here for once instead of just browsing!

MARKET DESCRIPTION:
Don't be an Awkward Turtle.
Have you ever found yourself in a conversation without any idea what to say next? Then Awkward Turtle is the thing for you! Awkward turtle is a free app that will supply you with one of over 150 random facts to get that conversation right back on its feet.
Awkward Turtle has a multitude of facts ranging from the interesting - "Facebook has increased it's revenue by 2400% in the past five years", the thought provoking - "A compressed spring weighs more than a relaxed spring", and also the down right weird - "A donkey will sink in quicksand but a mule won't".

This is our first app, so please give it a try and perhaps a market rating on your honest impressions with our effort. We spent a lot of time trying to polish it, and plan on adding new features and content in the coming weeks.
We're also coming across some issues where certain phones should work but don't. It seems to be a market issue, so if you come across such a thing please let us know, or if you're also a developer who has come across something like this your advice would be appreciated. For some reason people find their phone incompatible, yet installing the .apk directly works.
Thanks for taking a look, and I hope you our app can entertain you even just for a few minutes.
Funny app
Great job.
This review is for the Samsung Galaxy S 5 UtorCase, but they make the mount for so many different phones at http://www.shapeways.com/shops/utor-case.
First - I did participate in, and win, a chance to own one of these mounts in exchange for my trial and review of the product. I am writing this based on my personal review and not any bias for having won the product. I am a long time member of this forum and would not want to tarnish my name for one product.
On to the review:
After receiving the mount I was a little nervous that it would not hold the phone to my controller. As you can see in the pictures it looks just like a flimsy piece of plastic. Apparently, it is 3D printed to fit whatever phone you have and the controller you choose to use it with. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it held the phone just fine. It was very strong and held the phone to the controller at all angles. I was able to play games while either sitting on my couch, laying in bed, or when I took my most recent trip and played on the plane. It held on with no trouble at all. It was very easy to mount onto each device as well. A small tab at the rear attaches the mount to the controller and the S5 just sits in the top.
I am very impressed with this mount and would recommend it to anyone looking for a way to use their phone with an extra controller sitting around the house.
These pictures are from the website as my photos did not come out well. I will upload some soon

Hi guys
I am really having some trouble loving my S10e. The phone would be great - if it wasn't for the screen. The glass is simply glued on the front and thus sticks out by 0.75mm. The corners are not rounded but quite sharp. When I put the phone to my ear, the sharp end scratches my ear and it feels uncomfortable. On top of that, with the glass being exposed like that, it obviously lead to it cracking within the first 3 weeks (see

Is this the same for all S10e? I have searched the Internet for any reviews or complaints mentioning this issue, to no avail. I simply can't believe that this is normal (I have never seen a phone with the glass glued on like that).
Cheers,
Will
This sounds like a faulty handset to me. You'll need to see if you can get it replaced under warranty.
Unfortunately as with all Android phones, this will mean sending your current handset off somewhere and waiting up to 2 weeks to have it inspected, repaired or replaced. You'll need to make sure you have a spare handset lying around. This is one of the things I hate about Androids compared to iPhones. Maybe try putting on a case to see if it helps?
If you had an iPhone, you'll have been able to book an appointment and have your iPhone replaced the same day.
Hey Wutang, thanks a lot for your reply! And all along I thought the glass being glued on like that was (a little silly but) normal for the S10e. I have contacted Samsung again, so I guess we will see.
