The US variant of GS7 SM-G930U has yet to receive any security patch updates! The security patch update is on May 1st on my phone. I still have a few days left to return my newly purchased phone so does anyone think G930U variant will ever get Android N or regular security patch updates at all? This is very disappointing! the fact that this phone hasn't been updated in the last 3 month and also the fact that there is a newly discovered flaw in Android devices 'Quadrooter' which won't be fully patched until the September security release next month worries me a lot! my sisters 4 year old iPhone 5 is still receiving the latest updates whereas my 2 month old GS7 has been forgotten by Samsung... I really love this phone I hope Samsung gets their act together and release timely updates.

I'm also frustrated with the lack of updates. Contacted Samsung about QuadRooter, but just got a generic response that they're "unable to speculate" about when patches will be available. I have no other complaints about the phone, but SW support is definitely disappointing.
I posted a question on Reddit and multiple GS7 and GS7e people are reporting having not received any patch yet.

Don't feel bad, my unlocked canadian s7 is on april's patch.
Just returned my phone. I will be waiting for the next Nexus to come out. I will only buy Nexus phone from now on since the updates come straight from Google without any delays...
August Security Update for the G930U has been released. Date is August 1st, 2016. Waiting for wifi so I can download it
I confirm that I also received an update which takes my phone up to August security updates and fixes quadrooter. I'm on Sprint
Awesome! Downloading it now. Thanks for the tip.
(I'm on Total Wireless)
Edit: Confirmed Quadrooter fixed, still no FM radio.
SM-G930U Updated!
Just received an over the air update to my unlocked US Samsung S7, model SM-G930U. Now listed as build number: MMB29M.G930UUEU2APG9. Android security Patch: August 1, 2016. It is on the AT&T network. Still registers as h+ for speed on the notification panel. Tried Speedtest. No improvement over last original stock build. I haven't noticed any changes or additions so far.

I had concerns that the 'major carriers' would leave us 'others' out in the cold.
Not so! My Lycamobile (T-Mobile. see: Wikipedia for this interesting story) phone has updated in a timely fashion, and without a hitch.
Now... A nice simple root? Anyone? Bueller?
Best wishes!
Sincerely!
Has anyone received any other updates after the August patch? I was not expecting this device to receive such poor support from Samsung.

Oh sorry, there's nothing beyond August update.

Didn't expect a carrier agnostic model to receive updates far less frequently than the carrier models. A bit strange as it seems like all they need to do is push it out with minimal changes to the carrier model updates. Maybe all of their resources are being used to put out fires related to the Note 7.
I have the August 1 security patch. According to sammobile, there was an update released on 9-28/9-29 (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930U/). Is that the same patch? Looks like it's the same thing. Didn't realize we can click to show expanded details.
Yeah, same here. Very sad that Samsung can't push updates without carrier intervention BEFORE the updates drop on said carriers.
My G930U had an update this morning. Brings it up to Sept Android security patches.

Lets hope they stick to that.
so, samsung has had the 2.2 upgrade out since november...
well if it took tmo all this time to add wifi calling, since att doesnt have that feature one can REASONABLY assume that ATT is just run by douches.
It's safe to assume that anyway.
But good for our Vibrant brothers and sisters. Maybe this is the beginning of the end of Samsung and the carriers dragging ass on these upgrades, but who knows. They better get to work on Gingerbread if they want to keep that 3-5 month schedule.

When will these carriers realize that loading phones with their bloatware does no good! Simply release the plain base 2.2 update!

its pretty clear in the case of the vibrant that t-mobile deserves the brunt of the blame for the hold up as they have had their hands on the update since september.
Is there any reason to believe att hasn't had the update in their possession just as long?
not to absolve samsung but they have taken most of the abuse on this and it looks like the carriers are the hold up at this point and have been for 2.5-3 months

According to one of the screenshot posted on AT&T web site, our Froyo version is UCJK1. We got first Froyo leak late sept, UCJI6. Second in late Oct., UCJJ4. So, UCJK1 should be around late Nov.
So I guess AT&T had the Froyo build the same time as T-mo.

Agreed! They should include a digitally signed file or something per carrier that labels the phone for what carrier and model and then they can upload their scrap to the marketplace. That way the app wont work unless you are on stock carrier os with signed file and the app could verify the correct file info.
Sure it could be ripped from the os but if att had their way id still be on stock 2.1. But for the small amount of users who is mainly comprised of us here at xda, carriers wont have to worry as most people probably do not root their phones.

Let's take a look at my last phone... the Samsung Epix (quit laughing at me).
Installed with WinMo 6.1 out of the box with the promise of 6.5 in the coming months.
Phone works pretty well, great GPS, however some people are having a random error appear on their phone, the dreaded "Slog dump".
ATT/Samsung announce update, everyone gets excited about 6.5... except it isn't. It's to fix slog dump error, which it does - while totally crippling the GPS. Instead of an instant lock on 8+ satellites, several minutes of waiting might get you 4 or 5.
The promised deadline of the 6.5 update comes and goes. again and again and again and well you get the idea.
Finally after everyone has given up (or turned to XDA) the official update is released. The GPS is restored and works better than ever before, and Microsoft has already announced wp7, making our update already obsolete.
At this point I have swore of Samsung forever, at least until the Captivate shows up for free at Radio Shack.
lesson learned?
Good things come to those who wait
or probably better
those who don't learn from the past....
I contacted Samsung today regarding a Froyo update for the Captivate. Take a look at the image below.

I was hoping to just start a thread for those of us who are deciding to just wait for the OTA update. Have anyone actually received it yet? If so please post!
Im gonna wait for the OTA. I'm in the UK if it makes any odds. I flashed factory image to my nexus 7 so I've had my lollipop fix.
I dont want to do a clean install on my nexus 5. Hence why I'm gonna wait for the OTA.

In the past I don't think region have mattered that much when they have been sending out OTA's. I think its usually based off of production number/batch number. I could be wrong tho.
Haven't received it either.
I haven't yet and am waiting patiently. I'm in San Diego.
According to some Google engineer, the OTAs are initially sent to 1% of users. Assuming that 10 million nexus 5 have been sold till now, this puts the number of people who should've got the OTA at 100,000. But we don't have anyone reporting in an OTA. Not one person

"Rollouts are conducted in phases. Typically they start at 1% of devices for around 24 - 48 hours; we watch the return rates and resulting device checkins and error reports (if any), and make sure nothing looks wrong before sending it to more. Then typically it goes to 25%, 50%, 100% over the course of a week or two.
What the percentages mean is that when your device checks in, it has a 1% chance (for example) of being offered the OTA. If it doesn't (randomly) get an offer, it will never get an offer until the next batch.
IOW, once your device checks in and gets turned down, that's it until the next batch. Mashing on the "check for updates" button just causes your device to check in again, and get automatically turned down again. Think about how that makes your device feel! WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE PHONES?!
That said, once the new batch does start, hitting that button does give you a new roll of the dice -- but once. Since devices usually only check in for system updates every 24 hours (I think? Certainly on a many-hours basis) this can get you your shot sooner than it would happen on its own.
So, mash away. Just be patient, and mashing on it more often than once or twice a day isn't going to gain you anything.
Edit: also, keep in mind that this isn't first-come/first-served. You're not racing other devices to get your slot in the current batch, or something."

They send OTAs to 1% of the user base for the first 24-48 hours. If everything is fine, that is, there is no major bug and the performance is good, they roll it out to the next 25%. 2-3 days later they send it out to another 25%. 100% roll out is completed by the end of the week or 10 days if they're late.

So, I wonder how Google is going to work out the system partition issue for devices that weren't designed to run dual systems when an update occurs? Interesting thing to consider.
This is all nonsense. The update will come out when it comes out. There are a number of factors that go into the release of an update, none of which can be accurately measured.

Google has already said that seamless updates aren't coming to current and older Nexus devices (http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...e-new-seamless-update-feature-from-android-n/), so I wouldn't expect for any pre-2016/7 device.
Rubbish.
Nougat is incoming according to the T-Mobile website. It will probably be a month or two before it becomes approved and and T-Mo put their bloat on it. But If the website is anything to go by, then yes the V10 is confirmed to receive 7.0. Strange that the G4 will not be getting it...

One thing is true though. LG is one of the fastest to roll out major updates. I recall from my LG G4 was that it was the first phone to receive MM apart from Nexus.
This time around also the G5 is probably their priority. Once LG rolls it out then, T-Mobile is also gonna take their time. So it's gonna take a while.

so on a side note, my v10 just crapped out on me, similar boot loop of death like the g4, i feel like it has a bad ground, it randomly was on charge and started to vibrate continuously and screen froze, i have 3 batterys i tried those but fail, i have really good and bad wires and tried those, some let it into twrp without touch working and some wire allow to twrp with touch working for short time b4 reboot freeze, and one wire allowed to twrp with touch but twrp touch was slow af. literally like 1 hour ago. trying to get my files off internal :/ good day turned to crap, thanks LG
There's really no use in speculating when we'll get 7.0. It'll happen when it happens. We probably won't get it until early next year, so not soon. We definitely won't get it when the v20 does, since it's LG's new darling, and they said it would be the first major Android phone to get Nougat. So of course they want it to be exclusive at first. Hell, LG might even change their mind and leave use stuck with Marshmallow. The v10 is already pretty much dead where development is concerned, why bother continuing to update an older device when there are better things ahead? Looking back on it, had I known in advance that the v10 wouldn't have much development, I probably wouldn't have bought it. This is my first LG and maybe my last. But it still works so I'm going to hold onto it until it dies. Lesson learned, life moves on.

I think so. We will get it somehow. Even if it is the last update I'm fine with it. At least well get some closure and hopefully the software will be similar to the V20. Perhaps the Vietnamese Rom cookers will do a port. I'm using the H960 20m port on my H901.
Second half of the year seems a bit long to wait but maybe there will be a working version of xposed for nougat by then.

Why am I not a happy camper - Back & recent buttons have swapped sides at the bottom, notification bar at top has battery, LTE, WiFi on left, Weather and time on the right. These are opposite to what I had under Android 9 (Pie).
Under my Nova launcher, pages on the left are now swapped to right side and vice versa. 3 button gestures do not allow placement.
The adb shell trick does not work on swapping buttons around.
I am left handed and the old way worked perfect.
I just got the update too on tmobile in south Texas.
Any noticeable breaks? Does battery life seem better or worse?
(This is how I wish some people would inform haha )
ANDROID 10 WHAT A LONG RIDICULOUS WAIT...thats finally over for:...
GOOGLE FI (NA/US)
MOTO G7 (BASE VARIANT)
XT1962-1
FIRMWARE VER: FI/RETAIL
Currently downloading OTA for Android 10...Just sort of decided to check for updates at random and it was finally available!
Got my update
Downloaded update today. Google fi carrier.
WOO! About time the base G7 variant got some love!! I couldn't stand some of the quirks of the custom ROMs for this device and had to go back to stock 9, glad to see 10 is finally downloading!!
Wouldn't have noticed till it popped up if it weren't for this thread, thanks everyone! Lol
I tried grabbing the files from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/river/official/RETAIL/ as I have done for the past updates and flashed them in fastboot. That resulted in soft-brick on the unlocked bootloader screen. I flashed back to the version that I was on before to get running again. I verified the commands with flashfile.xml to make sure I wasn't doing something weird. I am on 114-34-10 so I may try going up in order instead of skipping over some of the releases.
Consumer Cellular carrier today updated to 10. So far everything works.
Been hearing that's it's been rolling out over the past few days in the U.S. but I still haven't gotten it. Just wondering.

I flashed my T-Mobile variant to the US unlocked firmware months ago & was on the Beta Android 13. I got the stable version a day or two ago automatically.
FWIW, I'm still on the July Google Play Store update, but, the other is on the current October (One UI 5 Stable).
Which month of the Google update are you on?
My official One UI 5.0 arrived earlier today along with the notice that the Beta program was ending.
I got mine two days ago. Verizon. Not super thrilled about all the notifications I now get. I'm running Beta Nova Launcher.
Havent got mine yet
I’m a Google Fi user and I received the official update on October 25th.
Anyone still stuck on the Google Play System update from July 2022?
I participated in the One UI 5 Beta program with US Unlocked firmware (originally a T-Mobile US phone).
I've been stuck on Google's July update ever since, but, as many of you know, there were several One UI 5 Beta updates prior to going stable, which is what I'm currently on (US Unlocked XAA)
BTW, Samsung tech support was of no help, they suggested I reach out to T-MOBILE.....
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
My S22U is on the A13 One UI 5 official release. My Play Store version is now 32.8.18-21 [0] [PR] 481699564. Prior to now it was July 2022.

Yeah, I'm on an even newer Google Play Store update (32.9.14)
....
But, in Settings > Security & Privacy > Updates, the Google Play System update is still showing July 2022.
@neilth
THX for the feedback, much appreciated.
I went to where you said for updates and my phone downloaded and installed an update and then rebooted. When it was all done, nothing had changed! The version and date, July 1, 2022, are all as before. Everything is working properly, so I’m not going to worry about it.

Same here..... I had what appeared to be an update & unlike most updates, it didn't even give a file size, just a prompt to reboot to finish the update.
Just as you are, not gonna worry about it much, just wanted to see if others had the same as I do.
Again @neilth, THX for the feedback, much appreciated!
I have a U1 unlocked and it says I am up to date on one UI 4.1
This is annoying.
Nothing yet. U1 unlocked on Verizon NVMO straighttalk. Usually get updates pretty late on unlocked.
I received the update from beta to stable a couple of days ago. I am unlocked running on AT&T.

I'm on beta 5 which is also BVJA. on TMOB and got no official update. Do I need to unsubscribe from beta to get the official update or just wait til TMOB gets it's act together?

No I wasn't. But I'm anxiously waiting for it because I'm still within the two week return period for the pixel 7 pro. I want to see the battery life improved on the Galaxy.

Side topic but what do you think of the pixel by comparison?
