Hi
I'm trying to restore my phone back to the standard settings using a .backup file that someone on the xda forums was kind enough to upload. The problem though, is that clockworkmod doesn't appear to find the file. I think I found the problem though.
CWM appears to have a different way of saving backups. Instead of just having a .backup file, it has a folder with the date I made a backup to test, and in that are the boot & system (etc...) files.
How would I go about solving this?

Hi all,
well, the heading says it all - I need to extract the text messages stored in my several ROM backups and maybe integrate them with my current ROM if possible. The backups were done with 4EXTrecovery
So far I found the info that these text messages are stored in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db - but how do I get to those inside the backups? Anyone here know a way to combine several of these files into one?
Any help greatly appreciated
i'm interresting too wait for any anwsers !
This question has been asked and answered many times, you can do a search to find many possible solutions.
If you have root and are comfortable playing around with the files, the file you listed is a simple sqlite database. You can extract it and merge it on a PC using an sqlite manager application. (Be sure not to duplicate any repeated messages!) Copy the merged file back to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ and you're done!

I'm glad I found this reply, but I got stuck at the stage where sqlitemanager asks me for a password as the data.yaffs2.img file is encrypted. My backup was performed using CWM backup and I figured that I'll find the "com.android.providers.telephony/databases/" under there but as I already said, I can't open the data.yaffs2.img to access "com.android.providers.telephony/databases/".
Please help
I too was wondering the same thing, that's awesome! I will give it a try...

Obviously new here, have searched for hours to no avail, but I am sure its out there. I am running CM11 and want flash Android Revolution. I have read about all tutorials I can find. My problem is simple I am sure, i downloaded the zip file but cant save it to my card, never gave me the option. so when I turn phone off then back on with volume button, the option to recover with the new zip file is not there. How do I get the option to boot in And. Rev.?
Can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You need to specify your device make and model number so we can point you towards help.
Also, you generally install roms from a custom recovery with the rom file on your internal or external sd card. You said you downloaded the file, but the file is not there? Are you sure you are in your custom recovery? And browsing to the correct folder where the zip was downloaded to? Have you searched for it in your system with a file Explorer to see where it is?
If my ideas don't help, you can ask for help in the thread you downloaded the rom from, that is your best option. ?
Or your devices Q&A section.
Good luck!
Sorry, forgot to give the basics....HTC One M7 with T Mobile running CM11....I found the folder under the downloads section but says it cant open it....How do i get to custom recovery
Flashing it should be the exact same as flashing CM.
Here is a dedicated help thread for your device that you can ask for help in ,

Hello, I didn't know where to post this so I thought here would be best, so I can be pointed to the right place.
in one of my camera folders, I've had around 12,000 pictures "had 30,000 before deleting".. I decided it's time to move it to my PC and sort them out.. I have tried to copy them before when they were 30,000 but I've never been able to do that (it just doesn't work)
when I tried to copy them this time through connecting my Note 3 Rooted, I accidentally "cut" the folder and pasted it my desktop in PC..
the folder I have copied was Empty..
when I checked back on my android there was no trace of the folder.. and my Gallery no more shows the folder.
I tried to undo the process but it also failed.
I don't know where are the files exactly?
I've used DiskDigger to recover the files.. but I couldn't see them anywhere.
I've used ES file Explorer to unhidden the files (if they were hidden) but to no avail.
I hope someone, anyone, would know what I can do to recover the pictures or at least know what exactly happened
thank you!
anyone? where should I post this at least...
is this an issue that is not known?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you written to the storage at all since these files went missing?

nope I haven't, I immediately did a recovery attempt..
the files are just not there... not a single one lol
so they must be "not deleted" somehow, somewhere.. they're there..

The only thing you can do is continue to try different data recovery methods and hope that one of them works. Sorry, that's about all the advice I can give you.

This is my very first time posting here and I really didn't know where should i look for help other than here, so... Hello there, XDA community.
It goes like this: Several months ago, I accidentally deleted a note in S Memo from my Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337, rooted stock Kitkat 4.4.2). Recently, when I realized that I actually need it, I have looked upon several solutions, one of them being exploring the thumbnail cache folder of the S Memo app (/storage/emulated/0/Application/SMemo/cache), which gave me the cache files but among them I didn't find the lost note. Now, if the cache files were packed inside a regular image extension, I would have no problems recovering them with any usual android file recovery tool, but unfortunately they are basically .png files packed inside a weird extension (.sfm to be exact, literally by changing the extension in the file name to .png they become viewable). Since there isn't any software that is able to recover files with that extension, what are the options?
How hard is it to compile an actual app which would dig up the folder for the note? (I've done some basic programming stuff when I was younger and I do have an idea how it all works)
Where are actual S Memo files stored? Is it easier to recover them instead of cache?
Also, since I'm rooted, is it possible to turn the phone into a mass storage device and trick the computer so I could look up for the note using PC file recovery tools?
The case is really urgent.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
D.
