Unable to play downloaded music? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Today, my S7 decided it didn't want to play any of my downloaded music that's saved to the device. My main two sources of playing music is via Amazon Music and Google Play Music, which I save albums/songs to my device. I've tried clearing the cache to both apps, restarting the phone etc. Still no success. Anyone experience this before or have any ideas how to get the downloaded music to play?

Thats very strange.. Do you have any Sound by playing any YouTube Video or an downloaded MP3?
I use Google Play Music too and have no Problem..

[Q] Play Music without tracks

Hi,
I just recently installed Google Play Music, but now I can't access my local music files anymore. After initially using the Play Music as my player, I said something about "updating music files" and then it doesn't show any of my mp3 any more.
Any one else have the same problem?

Google Play Music And Offline Caching

I use Google Play to store all my music on the cloud. I buy it all through Google Play so it's stored instantly. But I also use the Google Play Music Manager to download all my music. I'm getting a 64 GB SD card on Friday and was wondering if I should even be downloading the music through Google Play since I sideload all the content? I want to keep using Google Music Player for my music needs but I don't want to be streaming any of it. So how do I configure this setup?

WTF? Google Play Music app is not working for me!!!

WTF? I am getting this "music playback error couldn't play the track you request" by google music play!!!! These mp3 play fine with poweramp and n7player.... wtf? I cleared all data and update google musc play and start and still doesn't work.
F**k google. I can tell everyone for one thing. Yes, samsung s4 may have more apps installed but at least a lot of them work right out of the box. The default music player app on s4 actually has folder browsing and screenlock. May not be as fancy as poweramp but everything just works.... I got the n5 for my sister. I hate to give her a defective product and i hope i can get all the softwares work for her by xmas, but i am so glad I am keeping the s4.
Help!!!!
So following a hunch, i deleted all the mp3 in my music folder and restart music play after clearing all data and cache and it still lists all those files. how do i clear all of this?
So i had to delete all 900MB of mp3 on my n5, completely disabled google music player app which uninstalled all its updates. Recopied all music back and renable the app download update.and now it's working again. what a fn pain all in the while these mp3 were fine with other apps. At least now google music play would play nice with the dialer and pause music and resume after phone calls...arhhhhghh... it sucks i can't add files to playlist by folder views..... what a waste of resource to scan all files and try to organize by artists, etc.... as well as waste of space keeping albums displayed with thumbnails...

Can't locate Google music local files

Is anyone able to find it? I'm using root explorer and when I go into sdcard android .com.Google.music files its not in there. As a matter of fact, both files and cache show up ad empty. I want to use n7 player to play the Google music I have marked as offline. Thanks.

Google Music off-line cached music files can only be played by Google Play Music. It's done to protect the music from being copied. I don't have root currently so I can't tell you the exact location, but I know I found them on my last phone but their names are obfuscated and they will not play with any other MP3 player.
The only way to do this for tracks you have bought (but not All Access tracks) is to download them to a computer first and then copy them over to your phone.

That is a good point. I was finally able to find it on the Nexus 5 after looking at every possible folder. It's in data/user/0/com.google.android.music/files/music I can't get any other music play to play when it's in that folder. However, if I copy it over to the typical sdcard/music folder, N7 plays it right away, albeit without the mp3 tags or artworks. But since all my music is in Google Play, and I have a process on my computer to autosync my new songs to google play, I'm just going to stick with the Play Music. I actually really like Play Music, but was just exploring other music players. There's really no point to when we have such a good system with Play music.

[Q] Google Play Music: Kept Music

I don't like the Google Play Music application much, so basically what I was wondering was if I could play kept google play music songs and albums in another player such as PowerAmp somehow. From what I have seen there is no way to do this because google incorporates some sort of DRM in all of their music files, which makes sense, because they don't want people just copying and pasting kept music files that they didn't actually buy. I have determined the location of the saved music files to be in "root\data\data\com.google.android.music\files\music" if I am in the wrong spot please let me know. I have pulled the saved music files (MP3's) from this location but can not manage to play them in any music player. I also tried running them through a converter just for the hell of it but the converter instantly crashes when I try converting the file. I don't think there is anything that can be done about this but if anybody has any ideas please let me know!
not possible. stop trying
I don't think you can get them from your phone but you can most definitely download the songs to your computer as regular mp3's. You can then put them on your phone and use any media player.
on a desktop/laptop, open google play music. pick what songs you want, then press download. the downloaded songs that you got using google play music desktop can now be played in other music applications.
Even still...if you have not purchased the song, you cannot download it. All of the music in "My Library" that you've uploaded can be dl'd but not songs you randomly hear and "Add to my Library"
Unless I'm doing something wrong....
You can not download music on a pc unless you have purchased that music. On the android application there is however and option to download music to the device in a hidden location (root\data\data\com.android.google.music\files\music). You can download them, but like I said they are encrypted or have some sort of DRM incorporation so you can not play them anywhere but within the play music application. I don't think it's possible. I just wanted a few opinions on it.
