Software Update? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I saw today that my Samsung Galaxy S6 has a new Software Update, when i try to install it, it downloads it, then asks me when i want to install it (like now or overnight)
when i install it now, it restarts the phone like it usually should, but when the Phone is rebooted, my S6 takes me to my TWRP Recovery Menu, so my question is, how do i install
the latest official software update without bricking my rooted S6?

First question. How did you manage to install twrp and still be able to download ota Updates?
Secondly: you only can install ota Updates over stock Recovery.

i dont really know, i just saw that my phone has an update, i clicked on it, it downloaded and then asked me to install it, and my phone is rooted and has TWRP, i dont even know if it would be a good idea to look for the software update and update it with odin or something, im completely new at this so i cant really answer that question. maybe it didnt even download the update. i wonder where it WOULD be saved if i really managed it to download...

I'm still to figure out what you did because technically speaking Samsung would have picked up you rooted and you would receive a message saying your system has been modified.

If what you saying is true then when your phone reboots into TWRP to install...look at where the OTA is stored. Copy it to internal storage. Reboot TWRP then flash OTA and reflash root

weirdly this message doesnt pop up at all, and im running rooting, xposed etc. its very weird...

as you can see, it downloaded and after the installation, it asks me when the installation should begin, if i install, the phone reboots and puts me automatically to twrp, i reboot back to system and my phone says that the installation failed and if i want to send a report to samsung...

Some doubts

Hello,
I have being having some troubles with my oneplus one. Today I recieved a notification saying that a new update was available so i downloaded and tried to install. However I didn't realised that i had installed the twrp so i was unable. As i wanted the official update I installed a stock recovery and try to install the update, but it failed. Don't know why it failed... i assume that maybe i didn't installed the appropiate stock recovery. However i finally installed the update by using the "apply update (option in the recovery)" to the official zip file i had previosly downloaded. My question is, for the next update will i have to flash it or just a normal OTA update? (i think that my problem was that the stock recovery was not the appropiate, so I just wanted to know if my recovery has been updated to the appropiate one with the manual update)
Another thing what does the lcd density option does?
Thanks, sorry for my bad english if you don't understand please ask me

I can answer only one question
LCD Density: This feature allows you to change your screen look, that is, if you lower the density from 480(which is default) to 380, you'll find all the icons & text becoming small in size and allowing you to view more information on your screen.
And if you increase the density from 480 to 5XX, your text and icons will look big, allowing you to view less information on the screen.
I am currently on KK with 380 LCD density.

If you want to really try this feature, decrease it one by one and reboot your device, you'll find some change in the views.

And when the system reboots, it brings me to the TWRP Bootloader screen.. even if i push the reboot to system button, the update failed to be applied.
Any tips?

Edit: Sorry for the picture size, i have no idea how to resize)

You have to be stock to update OTA. No special recovery and no root

You can't flash any official OTAs with TWRP. It's a known fact, nothing you can do about it. Reflash stock recovery, or just use a close to vanilla custom ROM that gets the monthly security updates.

MT7-L09: Phone Unlocked BUT command not allowed when flashing

Hi,
I never saw this problem
My phone is unlocked (since a year more or less) and I can't install TWRP nor CWM. I tried many tutorials such as all the root methods listed on XDA for this smartphone.

There might be a problem with your drivers. You can try uninstalling and reinstalling them. Also, try using fastboot commands manually
Sent from my Mate
unlock again
Thank you. I'd like not to have to relock it as it's already done and rooted. Could you please tell me what drivers to install? I tested many of them (https://i.imgur.com/wBgsezr.png) but it seems I don't have the right ones then.
I'm using Win7 64bits.
Thanks again!
Use adbdriveinstaler and when it's install you can push recovery to add folder and try this command
cd C:/adb
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Change name your twrp or cwm to recovery
Send frome globe
Okay. Here we go
ADB driver installed (https://i.imgur.com/PWrZoHH.png)
Went to flash and... still not allowed.
And in fastboot/rescue mode on my phone it's written PHONE Unlocked.
WTF
BTW, is there any other way to upgrade the phone? Cause every time I go to the software update in the menu i'm told it's up-to-date, but it's not... Android 4.4.2 & EMUI 3.0.
I read about a "local update" but can't find out how to update from the SDcard, I only have OTA.

Cannot find updates on rooted phone

Hello,
I have a rooted EU phone (4a, not the 5g version). The OTA updater does not find the security updates, and all the rooting guides seem to indicate that they should show.

How can I check what's going on?
Long, more detailed version:
I have rooted my Pixel 4a (using Magisk). I think I have done things right¹, but my phone seems to be unable to find the November security update. I thought it was just a lag in the rollout of the update, but I got a message warning me that "it has been two weeks and I haven't installed the update yet".
When I go to Settings → System → Advanced → System update, it tells me my system is up to date, with Android 11 and the security update from the 5th October 2020.
I have tried removing Magisk to no avail, the update still does not show.
Does anybody know what's happening, or what I am missing?
¹ For what it's worth, the flashed version of the OS is sunfish-rp1a.201005.006 (using the flash-all.sh, then I have flashed the bootloader that came with it, patched with Magisk Manager beforehand).
You will need to flash back the stock boot.img and then search for updates, as if you mess with that (you did by rooting) you wont get OTA updates.
Thanks. I'll try that once I've figured how to do a full system backup.
You could simply sidleload the ota since you know it's there
Beware u will need to repatch your boot.img to have root again after applying the dec ota update.
I just tried sideloading the december OTA update (201205.008). It seemed sucessful from adb, but got stuck on the boot animation for a few minutes, and I ended up force-rebooting the phone. When the operating system started, I was still on 201005.006.
To be completely honest, I'm far too unfamiliar with the Android flashing and boot process to be confident in anything I'm doing here. I'm fairly comfortable with Linux and its boot process, but Android albeit similar is too different. I need to read up on that.

its not working man, i almost tried every firmware
Flash RAW firmware (use the script / binary WITHOUT a wipe), then update normally.
If all else fails, you can perform the update with fastboot. It won't fix the issue and will have to be done for every future update, though.
Bypass "System update failed" - Update w/ Fastboot
Update notifications appeared, the update was recognized, but it failed instantly. I have since resolved the error by flashing a raw firmware without a wipe. This post is for archival purposes or simply an alternative installation method...

I tried both, but every time I try to run a script, be it flash raw or the flash_all, I keep getting waiting for devices, even though my phone is connected to my pc(through the side port) and is in fastboot/bootloader.
