Possible to edit build prop with no root? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

I need to change one line of code on my ATT S6 Edge Plus which cannot be rooted.
Need to change ro.securestorage.support=true to false.
Thanks

It is not possible, root is needed in most of cases. Even trough ADB you will need root privilegies. Just wait for the root 8) it's coming soon xD (note my sarcasm)

[Q] Edit Bootloader

Hi guys,
I'm quite a noob when it comes to this and am looking for a little guidance.
i've been looking to have my tablet (samsung galaxy tab 2 (GT-P3110)) boot up when the charger is connected and believe i have found a way.
someone with a nexus 7 had the same issue and solved it by changing a string in the bootloader binary
Code:
fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0
I've rooted the tablet already
q1. will this bootloader edit be the same for the tab 2?
q2. what steps do I need to take to edit the bootloader without bricking my device
thank you for your help guys,
i'm willing to take the risk, just need a bit of advice

I have the same question, and want to do the same thing.......Where you ever able to figured this out? I have the Verizon GT2 7.0. My HP TouchPad boots up when it begins charging and I'd like the galaxy to do the same thing.
yeah i got a solution.
there was no boot loader in my galaxy tab 2 but a workaround to get the same result
firstly you need to root the tablet
secondly you need to be running the stock rom. (unless there's another rom with the same files, i couldnt find one)
once you have your tablet rooted install root explorer or some app that gives you read write permission
now find this file...
system/bin/playlpm
make a backup of this file playlpm.old etc
open the playlpm file and delete all the content
now paste this code exactly:
#!/system/bin/sh
/system/bin/reboot
(make sure you had read write permission in root explorer)
what this does is replace the charging animation when the tablet is started with a shell command to run the boot script into android
all done
(only works with samsung devices)
Awesome

[One SV] - change model for network identification

Hello,
My carrier (SFR France) doesn't recognize the One SV, because it's not in their database.
How can i make the carrier believe the phone is another phone, like a Desire 601?
Thanks,
Did you try to edit build.prop?
Thanks for the answer. i didn't think it was that easy. However i'm not ready to root my phone. (Warranty, risks etc...)
I've manage to open, read, copy to SD card and modify with text editor, but how can i push it back (and not loose modifications after reboot)
(adb, something else? )
anyway. I've check the build.prop and found i need to change the ro.product.model= xxx
Now i just need to push it back. Could ADB or Fastboot do it ?
Any idea on how device identification works when it's not an android phone ?
Regards,
Well I never try to use adb without root, but I think without root you can't edit system files. Fastboot will not work. You need root or costume recovery.

Unless you unlock your bootloader and root then there is really nothing you can do to the build.prop file. Restrictions won't allow you to make changes.

MSL Code?

Hi guys, Happy 2017 for all, I have this phone for start the new year, but I live in Argentina, of course LTE isn't working, only 3G and variants, and I want to unlock the bands, but when I'm in the DATA MENU, The edit menu ask me for MSL CODE, and I'm tired of searching a solution, nothing works, so, maybe you guys knows something about this, I'm using 6.0.1 now, I don't know what I need to do, I can downgrade also. I trust in you guys and maybe someone can help me!
Regards and happy new year to all!! <3
the only way I know is by using galaxy tools. i sent you the two files you need. those files were meant to work on lollipop. Root phone, install gt 3.1.5, open it and grant it root permission, then install 3.1.8 update, click the big 'update' button, and reboot phone immediately after updating. Then, open the galaxy tools app again from the app drawer, and you will be able to see the msl code.
You could also get the msl code on 6.0.1 with galaxy tools. All you have to do before installing anything is just copy the "su" file that you can find in either /su/bin or /su/xbin and paste it in either /system/bin or /system/xbin, and just follow the same instructions above for installing galaxy tools.

Edit build.prop without root possible?

Is it possible? I need to edit my model number so that att enhanced push to talk will work. The app registers with att server and won't activate if it doesn't read a supported phone model. Just wondering if it is possible and how to go about it if it is possible.
Did you get a different carrier's model or is the S8 not supported yet? But no, not possible without root.
It's a /system file, so no, and if you did, it would void your warranty anyway (changing /system files trips Knox)

Rooted Pixel 2 Hotspot -- "To enable, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611."

Ex-squeeze me? You're a Pixel! You're not supposed to respect carrier crap!
Is there a good way to bypass this with root? All I have done so far is upgrade completely to the latest version of 8.1 and installed Magisk.
Thanks.

in build.prop add line:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
build.prop is at root level/system
Probably you can put it anywhere in build.prop, but I put it just after the other "net" command.
Then you should be good to go. Type carefully. Not sure what would happen if you type an invalid command in build.prop.

Did that solution work? I'm contemplating buying a Pixel 2 but want to make sure the hotspot feature works. I'm on the original Verizon unlimited and still want to be able to hotspot.
