N5 keeps shutting down when rebooting

Phone is rooted with latest TWRP, Cataclysm rom, and Franco kernel. It started happening when I flashed r11 Franco kernel and when I reboot the phone, it shuts down instead. I couldn't start the phone holding down the power button and I held it for over 20 seconds. I thought I bricked my phone. After few minutes fussing with the buttons, it finally booted up. However, every time I reboot my phone, it'll do the same and I had to fuss around the buttons keeping them press down for several minutes before it'll boot up to system or boot loader. As far as I can see, it can boot to recovery & system with no issue. I'm wondering if I need to flash to stock and reflash it again. Anyone knows anything about this or had same issue, please help. Thanks.

Listen like the kernel is the problem. So flash another one (easy way) or go back to stock.
If it's working fine then, it was the kernel which made this happens.
Much success

This is what happens: it gets stuck in the rebooting process. It doesn't properly shut down, it just hangs with the screen turned off.
Try flashing the stock kernel. Does it do the same?

Flashed with stock kernel and it's still doing the same thing. I also restore back to stock 4.4 with stock kernel and it's still doing the same. Do I need to unroot and root again then flash rom, kernel, and etc? Don't really want to do that if I don't have to but guess I have no choice? Thanks again.
Yep, do a factory reset and see if it's working fine again... I'm thinking so.

Update: I've decided to just wipe it all and start over by unroot and root again which solved the problem. It's rebooting correctly and not stuck in that awful black screen boot loop. Thanks.

This means, going back on to the stock firmware. This will remove the root for sure.
After that starting with rooting again.
Hope this answers your question

Constant Bootloop

A very weird thing happened to my phone. I was texting and the phone shut off and started to bootloop.
It only boots to the "Google" and about 1 second or 2 into the colorsplash boot animation
THEN it boots back to the "Google" and loops from there.
Has anyone had this problem before?
Also, plugging in to charge the phone causes it to bootloop as well.
I am on stock google rom.

This is called a bootloop and nothing short of a factory reset or a reflash of stock will fix it.

It actually got to a point where I could do a factory reset.
But it still does this.
So I dont know what to do next.
So you've reflashed stock?

Yes the phone actually got stable enough for me to use Nexus RooToolkit to flash back to stock & unroot. and now it still goes into the "GOOGLE" Bootloop
i dont want to scare you, as i can be very wrong here.. but i have ran into a few more users and phones who kept bootlooping no matter what. and every single one of them eventually found out it was an issue with their storage.

Can't flash recovery

Hi,
I bought a moto g 4g LTE to my wife for her birthday. Everything was ok until she install the 4.4.4 OTA update.
After this, the device was not working as good as before : lots of force close, sim card not detected, can't power off the device by pressing power button, only reboot...
I decided to manually flash the stock 4.4.4. Once more, everything was good.... until yesterday. We wanted to backup some pictures to the computer then everything gone wrong, like the first time... Can't power off, sim not detected, force closes...
I flash again de stock 4.4.4 and after tried to install CWM recovery. Everything seemed to be OK but I couldn't boot to recovery. From bootloader or from Windows. It's the same with TWRP. (fastboot flash recovery *****.img)
Each time there is a black screen with sometimes few white lines through the screen and nothing more....
Any idea to fix this and get a functional recovery?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Thuva06,
Of course I unlocked the bootloader, otherwise I think I couldn't flash any ROM. On each reboot I have the Motorola advertising.
Thanks.

Asus zenfone 2 freezing when you open camera, music apps

Hello to the whole team!Ι have an asus zenfone 2(model number:ASUS_ZOOAD,build number WW_2.20.40.194).I had a ghost touch issue and i sent it to the service center and they replaced the whole lcd screen. Now it's been a month since the fix and when i open the camera app or the music app the phone freezes or if you can go back it stucks and you can't even shut down the phone. You can only turn it off by pushing power button, volume up and down at the same time!Ι have wiped system cache by hard reset settings in recovery mode! Also my phone can't update to latest firmware since the fix from the official service!I would appreciate any help!
Hi,
You may want to reflash your phone using RAW firmware from this guide and see if the problem still persists.

TWRP - freeze on wrong code

Hey guys,
I have tried this several times to make sure.
If you boot the latest official twrp with no security code, everything works like a charm.
If you boot with security code ON, you only have 1 try to decrypt it. If you fail the code, it reboots itself and freezes the phone. Touch stops working, you have to power off. Is this the normal behaviour? It doesn't even warns about wrong code, it just freezes the entire phone.
Can you guys replicate the issue?
I had that too but thought i did something wrong while flashing...

Yes it is an undesirable feature of twrp. I hope that they will fix it soon
Sent from my OnePlus6 using XDA Labs
I wouldn't call it a feature just more a problem lol
Yeah happens to me too, I just end up holding the power button and going into bootloader and back to recovery.
I guess we'll have to wait for a fix then. thanks guys
It's a little weird on the SD 845 twrp they all have the same problem lol
It's happened on the OP5, 5T and now the OP6. It also happens on my Nexus 9 - however in my case it just boots straight back into TWRP if the codes wrong
