Stuck at Sh*tty "Google can't communicate with servers". - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've tried pretty much everything that's been suggested.
I've just installed a new ROM since mine wasn't updated and I wanted a newer one.
I've tried:
Reflashing
Updating the recovery
Changing ROM to actually use
Use different WIFI's and Data plans
Reinstalling google services
Clearing the google caches
Clearing the dalvik and normal caches
Switching the timezones
If it matters I have a oneplus one and a SIM card for Sweden.
Any help at all would be appreciated.

Yeah I had ad-away installed. Although it should have been disabled seeing how I still have ads on everything and the app says "disabled". Trying to disable it now will edit post if it works, if not stuff's still broken.
Still dun work.

AFAIK, Aforementioned issue is related to hosts file in your system
just have a look at http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...google-servers-try-again-later-galaxy-s3.html

Misnamed apps? Wrong versions? Fix here

Taking some advice I saw on the BAW forum one step further, I deleted the entire /data/boot-cache directory (after doing a nandroid backup of course).
Took about 3-4 extra minutes to boot up, presumably to recreate the contents of the directory, but now all of my apps are showing the correct version, correct icon, and correct name. Haven't run into any issues yet.
I didn't want to suggest this just in case something else would mess up. If you have a lot of bad apps this is perhaps faster than deleting each one.

Hey there you are! Hah.
I did have a lot of bad apps and had some trouble finding the proper directories for a few. I had just done a backup so I thought I'd give it a try.
I also figured this was the perfect place to suggest it for people to try - around here people are smart enough to do real backups before they start deleting things
Is this with just rooting the phone or after you install the custom rom?

I haven't touched the custom ROM yet. You do need to root the phone to do this, and it must be done from a shell.

It should, yes. I had a bunch of apps misnamed in that way (EasyMoney, Spades, a few others) and it fixed them.
One of them, Buka Lite, reverted back, though.
I tried this out and all the programs I'd been having issues with were fixed. I rebooted. Still fixed.
But then I installed three updates and after reboot, the same issue came back again. There must be another cache store somewhere...maybe Android Market related, or at least the Android package manager. Either way, I guess some more digging is in order.

I think there's just a bug with the way the phone handles the cache. Did the versions go back to what they were before you deleted the cache, or what they were after you deleted the cache and before you updated the apps?
Looks like the versions didn't revert. Last night, I used aTrackDog to send myself a list of all my apps. I can't remember the three that I updated today, but the two I do remember, Flixster Movies and Handcent did not revert.
Lastnight:
Movies,2.0.1
Handcent Sms,2.9.12
Now:
Movies,2.1.0
Handcent Sms,2.9.13
Well, I decided to remove Dolphin browser since I noticed it kept opening up and running in the background (active, at least that's what Taskiller says). Of course, the next reboot caused all the icons to get messed up again.
So, I thought to look for other cache directories. Does anyone think that deleting /data/dalvik-cache in addition to the /data/boot-cache directory might help? Is it safe to try it out? I'm assuming it'll just get repopulated automatically.

After you install any updates you will have to continue to remove the /data/boot-cache version until HTC/Sprint fixes the bug.

Would uninstalling the original, then installing the newest version alleviate the issue? As opposed to just update the app...

Nope. I even tried uninstalling, rebooting twice, then installing again. Reverted on next boot.

Damn. It sounded good in theory.
I had this issue with Google Sky Maps and it worked to let me back in. What was displaying after a day or so renamed itself to 'End User License Agreement' and wouldn't let me get past the EULA screen, only offering the option to force close.
The only caveat is that now Sky Maps is still named 'End User License Agreement', but it at least let's me in.
Odd
I tried removing both boot-cache and dalvik-cache. Didn't make any difference...eventually, the errors return if/when you update or install an app.
this must be a bug with the hero. i had the Moment and no apps renamed themselves at all. reset after reset the apps were fine. i reset my hero once and it messes up the apps
Doh! Doesn't seem like there's any easy perm fix in sight... hope it doesn't happen w/ 2.0 and Sense...

FOTA files delete and problem in installing new apps

I deleted the fota files and some unwanted apps, but also deleted something that is not allowing me to install any apps ...Not sure, what that might but phone works fine. Installed apps also work fine....wondering what might have gone wrong!
Did you replace the fota files or just delete them? Are you sure you have the room necessary for the files to install?

I replaced the fota files, with the 2 (that I downloaded from other thread). I do have enough space available as I've deleted bloatware.

what rom are you using
sounds like the permissions are off
what did you delete bloatwise?
stock ROM....bloatware deleted a bunch of Tmo apps, like TMo tv, etcetc..
Mostly I might have deleted something thats required for app installation?

yea probably, its always best to go with a bloatfreezer so if something fails you can defrost it and have it work again
sorry buddy sounds like you have to use odin again or flash a not stock rom with CWM
Hmm, Ok - it says
"Installation error" Unknown reason - 110. If that gives any hint

Can't side load apk files

I can't install apk files
When i try to install an .apk i can't click the install button. the Cancel button works fine. rebooted many times. tried other app installers from the market, they all take you to the screen where you click cancel or install. and I can't click install. so I can't side load install any apks. I've tried it on my internal memory and on my external sd card memory...no difference. I've tried many different apk files. ranging from icon packs to the new app market. They all do the same thing. The install button isn't grayed out....it just won't let me click on it.
On the Carbon Rom. Tried multiple versions of it and different kernels. I've wiped data, cache, d cache many times to no avail.
suggestions?
edit: Settings, security, allow unknown sources
is check marked.

thanks, but that's already done and tried.
still no go
edit. I should have said in the OP that that was in place.
well it appears the problem was the app Glovebox.
With their latest update it will Pause the glovebox app....and then unpause once you've installed your app.
That is really scary that that app would be able to stop you from installing other apps.
JK please ignore.
I remember having the same issue with glove box when I used to use it. I am now having the same issue again and can't figure out which app is causing the issue.
Me too!

Gallery editing features not working

I recently unlocked and rooted my phone, i backed it up using an adb tool that requires no root. Not sure when it stopped working but i remember having a really nice editing feature in the stock gallery app, now it just directs me to the google photos editing feature whenever i press edit. I tried clearing cache data, and even uninstalling the photos app, just resulted in nothing happening when i click on edit please help.

No I don't, sorry, I recalled people having similar issues after uninstalling Google+ but this wouldn't apply to you.
I can confirm..
I had disabled Google+ and then I was experiencing the editing not-working issue.
Now I've enabled Google+ again and everything started working again.

Facebook messenger showing white screen - chats not loading

Since yesterday my Facebook messenger app stopped working.
The chats are not loaded anymore, showing a white screen. Previously it worked fine without any issues in the app.
Tried to re-install the app, cleared data and cache. Even cleared all cache and dalvik cache.
Running CyanogenOS 13 6.0.1 Latest official OPO build.
Anyone ever experienced this error? And know how to resolve it?
Are you in the betatest program for the app?

Nope just the normal one from the Google play store. Nothing was changed just stopped working suddenly.
I installed another theme for CMTE last week without issues. So i'm wondering maybe some server sided issue?

Yes i use adaway indeed however didn't have issues before and the hosts aren't updated anymore in weeks so i don't suspect that this is causing the issue.
On my work phone it also works without issues sadly..

Just try disabling ad blocking and see if it works, I have issued with google apps not being able to connect to the internet. Can't tell that it's the same issue but it's worth a try.

Well i tried to disable AdAway blocking but that doesn't help either. I'm considering to perform a factory reset.. However its still a lot of work (restoring all data again..) so i don't want to but i think i don't have a choice.
Do you know if there is a way to preserve the creation dates on Android? For files and folders. Previously i zipped all my data but that took hours and resulted in a corrupt zip. I can't keep my data when performing a factory reset i suppose?
Instead of factory reset, can you try a dirtyflash of the ROM you are currently using? That will keep all your data.
Find your flashable signed zip here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mirrors-for-official-cyanogen-roms-ota-updates.141825/
