Galaxy Tab 2 Reboot(Power Ic Failure). - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a galaxy tab 2 p3100, rooted on stock rom. Recently the battery had drained to 1% and I plugged it to charge, and the tab rebooted the very next moment.
The reboot continued and it still is. I cant enter into recovery mode but can get into download mode. I have tride almost every stock rom available through odin but the update fails at half and even if it says pass nothing changes on the tab.
I even tried to get it fix from a local mobile repair shop he tried to flash rom through his ways where it showed passed, but nothing changed on the tab.
He has now addressed me that it is due to Power Ic failure that the tab reboots and we are unable to flash stock rom.
I just wanted to know if it really could be the reason of Power Ic failure that the tab reboots and doesn't flash any rom, and replacing it can solve the issue.
Thank You

I just bought my tab in a pawn shop, it had several issues with the battery, wouldn't charge to 100%, drain very fast, etc. Opening and Disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes solve all the issues, maybe this will work for you. Just an idea. Greetings.

Thanks Facoco, I am aware of this trick discharging the static power by removing the battery and holding the power button for few seconds. It really works but my issue isn't related to that its something gone wrong with the hardware (MMC IC chip).

How To Unbrick Nexus S? Need Urgent Help.

Dear Geeks,
I need your urgent help/advice. i'm three weeks far to my wedding and have a lot of troubles to handle, of course i need this phone.
let me describe the matter i have.
My nexus s is not booting, not starting, nothing.
what i did?
Last night, power button stopped working. I have experienced this 4-5 months ago. I don't know why, the problem has been solved by itself after few days later. i did nothing at those days. the power button came back. (as to my opinion, this is happening due to software problem) Anyway, i have used the market and installed ''fix power button'' application to use volume buttons for opening the screen.
I slept and when i woke up, i saw that phone needs to be charged but i waited. there was %11 something. i tried to handle the power button, pressed many times on it, thought that it may come back again same as 4-5 months ago it happened.
I removed battery and replaced again. i tried this many times. removed, replaced, used the usb cable via AC charger and phone started but there was no result. power button still was not working.
i thought that if the battery runs out, and then, when i charge the phone, maybe this matter may be solved. (ok this was stupid idea)
phone started to charge. when i plug the usb cable, phone was booting and displaying the google and animation and later it was ok to use.
meanwhile i keep on removing battery and replacing battery while the usb cable connected. but when phone starts to boot, i removed battery and replaced again. phone was ok, it was booting. few times it was booting.
but baaaam.
it is now not starting not booting, nothing.
now, when i replace the battery, phone is getting hot, especially sim-card area. i m removing the battery and connecting the usb. same again phone is getting hot, same sim-card area again.
i have waited enough not to connect the battery or usb charging cable. but no result.
what can i do now? what are your opinions?
my opinions/guess:
-i am using 3500 mah lithium polymere battery. maybe the battery died. i m using that battery more than 1 year, around 15 months. i dont turn off wi-fi so i m charging phone everyday.
- phone crashed during booting. and now the phone is totally brick.(i dont wanna believe this, this phone can be usable, believe me i feel it i think whatever happens, this phone can be usable via software installing or rooting... of course if you dont throw it towards a wall etc.)
by the way, my phone was not rooted. no time to root these days. and of course the phone was not starting.
what is your idea? what happened phone? what should i do?
if you reply, i will be appreciated.
A big advice for people reading this, dont remove the battery when your phone is booting.
I hope someone has a solution, since I have the same probelm...

dude, unfortunately those solutions not working on my device.
when i connect charger and i replace the battery, within seconds phone boots itself without power button. it should be this way. removing and replacing the battery helped me to start to boot.
i sense this case a bit different from that solutions.
i need to try with a different battery. my wife has nexus s also. she is very lucky she has no problems i have experienced so far. i will try with her battery.
i think there is a matter with mainboard.
by the way i forgot to say that i dropped my phone last evening. just after then phone was acting that i'm pressing long onto power button. and power button finally stopped working when i remove the battery.
i think this is happened because of dropping the phone from my belly high.
but the last thing i have done which removing the battery while the phone is booting, i wish, i should not have done. i could use it without the power button.

If you have not rooted your device, you should have you warranty, right? Take the phone back to the carrier, and tell them about your problem. o.o Sorry, I'm of no help, but you're in a horrible situation. Wanted to at least give a little help.
Same exact problem here.
2nd of August - mom's phone turned of and just would not boot or prompt at all. The modem heats up when power is turned on or connected.
Tried
The unbrickable methods (but the computer would not detect the device in any form)
A JTAG - I was able to write the recovery and bootloader - assembled the phone and it just won't boot or prompt
Need to try
Another battery to see if it solves the issue.
Removing the xOM5 resistor and converting to a development S5PC110
Tried another battery - no luck
Did the resistor removal and converted to a dev board - Unbrickable now detects the board!
trying to get the device into fastboot - will update

I had the same problem few months ago. Power button had died. While I was able to boot with remove battery and connect to charger option and I was rooted. But after a week I decided to take the phone to Samsung service center to get the power button replaced. My phone did not have warranty. Samsung took few hours to get the power button replaced and it costed me about $7. I think that's the easiest method. They did not have a stock of I9020 power button, so they fixed a I9023 power button.
Any update? I'm curious to see if you get it working. Had the same happen to my NS a few days ago and would like to see if I can get it going again so I can give it to my stepson.

I've given nexus s to samsung service. Actually, power button may be handled by replacing with new one, but with no hope, it will not come back when i read messages about mainboard failure. I will update news whenever it's possible.
we'll see.
I would like to hope it is kind of software matter.
Pls god give my nexus s back, i got extended 3500mah battery.
grrr....

So with the hardware mod - instead of selecting Nexus S -> I tied the Galaxy S in unbrickable - first time I've seen the screen alive! - puts the phone into download mode and I can disconnect from the usb and it stays in download mode! .. when i tried to flash odin I get a "There is no PIT partition" error -> this ofcourse is with re-partition and bootloader update UNCHECKED
When I tried Heimdall it wouldnt let me flash without a pit file. So trying Heimdall 1.1.1 - I get Failed to Access device Error: -3
Any chance some one with an i9020T can do me a huge favor? Use Heimdall 1.3.2 - download your PIT file and upload it here?
reaching for string ends out here :/

The power button had to be replaced. I shorted the connection when ever I had to press the power button during the boot sequence. That's how I fixed mine.

galaxy note 3 restarts while charging

I am facing a strange situation where in my note 3 restarts automatically while charging. The restart happens after a while say after 15-20 minutes of charging. I am using this awesome device for past 4 months and this problem started occurring some 3 weeks back. The device does not restart on it's own in any other scenario. Pls help. I tried as mentioned in many tips over the internet i.e. removing battery, sd card then restarted the phone and unchecked allow Wifi scanning but no luck.
Are you on a stock Rom and Kernel?
if you are on anything other than stock, flash a stock Odin firmware, and see if it still occurs. But this does sound like a hardware problem if you are on stock. tried any other batteries? what temp is your battery whilst charging, anything abnormal? also are you using the stock cable and charger.

Is my phone dead?

Hello, I am using galaxy S3 stock rom and my phone keeps shutting down/rebooting when I am using it. Sometimes I let it charge and 20 minutes later it turns off and I have to try many times to boot it. Many times I let my phone on airplane mode at night at 53% battery and It drains completely. I tried other batteries but still the same thing. Did anyone ever experience this?
Thanks

If you're sure it's not a battery problem, and you've run a battery calibration after backup, factory reset, and restore, just to be completely positive, you might want to see if it is a power button issue. The internals of the button get stuck every so often, and I found that when it was usable, I still got huge battery drain, and sometimes turning off and on by itself. There was a place near me that fixed the button on my S4 mini for $15, worked just like new.
I found that the phone was losing battery when when turned off, try leaving it off overnight and if it drains, it's probably an issue with the button.
If it's just a software problem, then that won't help. What does the OS say is using the battery? Maybe check for wakelocks with a battery saving app, I'm sure someone could recommend something

I had a problem which was similar to this but the phone I got is LYF Flame 7.
My phone was automatically shutting down a few minutes after the device is locked, I investigated every setting to check whether anything like auto shutting down or sleep or something was enabled , but every settings were okay but the problem continued.
When I bought this phone, I was disabled a lot of useless stock apps . I re-enabled all these apps to their default and then the problem is solved.
So you just try reverting your apps to their default,if you have tried to disabled it.
Clear its Cache and Misc
Also try a factory reset and try to boot the phone without any SIM cards and SD card.
In my knowledge , I think , the problem of your phone is software related and hardware is okay.
And keep investigating in S3 threads.

Random reboots.

Hi everyone, i know the title seems like it's just a trival matter, but trust me it's not.
The phone was bought new in August of last year (2015).
The story so far: I've been using sultanxda ROM for over 6 months without any issues, but i decided to test a different ROM, so i downloaded Darkobas rom and GAPPS, the ROM and Gapps installed fine but when i started the device and i was doing the initial configuration the phone rebooted by itself. It happened about 3/4 times and after that the phone had entered a bootloop. I tried to reflash the ROM and gapps, but the phone was restarting during the flash in TWRP. I decided to go stock Cyanogen OS, so i did a clean fastboot install of cyanogen OS. Everything went well the phone was working fine, but a few hours after installation the phone was randomly rebooting again, i decided i'll live with it and wait and see if it goes away by itself.
The phone was rebooting 2/3 times a day, during different acitivities so it was hard to pinpoint what might the issue be (even when locked in my pocket with all apps killed). After a few days of usage it just went straight to bootloop, after that i had issues to even install a rom (even via fastboot), because it would install everything fine and then it wouldn't start properly and would be in a bootloop (straight after installation).
I also tried the Bacon Root Toolkit installation as well as formatting everything and wiping everything. But even with the usage of Bacon Root Toolkit the random reboots happened.
So i installed an older TWRP recovery, i wiped everything re-formatted the phone to F2FS (was EXT 4 b4) and installed a F2FS compatible ROM (can't remember which one), after that installation everything seemed to work fine, but after a day or so the random reboots came back to haunt me again. So i reformatted the phone to EXT-4 again, installed stock cyanogenmod via fastboot (the 4.4.2 version), and updated it to 6.0.1 via OTA (during the course of a day or so, but even when the phone was on 4.4.2 i had a random reboot once), and the reboots returned ( i tried many different solutions, even the command line in TWRP "make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15"). I had NO IDEA what might be causing them but i thought that maybe the processor is ****ed and it's overheating, i returned to sultanxda rom (with the underclock to 1957 mHz).
After returning the phone booted correctly after a clean install via TWRP, but now it's rebooting again, and sometimes it happens 4/5 times in a ROW, sometimes it doesnt even reboot, but goes to black screen and I have to push the power button for 6 + seconds for it to reboot.
I've tried the stability test, or running antutu a few times in a row to verify if maybe it's the processor's/RAM's fault, but the phone didn't care, it rebooted randomly (sometimes 6/7 antutu runs in a row and nothing happened, sometimes rebooting in my pocket with all apps shut down). I've tried different launchers/messing with WiFi options/turning off the proximity check/turning off the trust agents nothing seems to make a difference. At this point I'm at a loss of what to do so i came here to ask for any advice. Is there any way to check if the phones internal memory is corrupted in some way ? I've tried searching for some apps but nothing turned out.

Your phone battery is dying...replace your phone battery and all the problem will go away....random reboot a couple of times and then goes straight to bootloop is a sign of a dying battery....trust me i know this cause it happen to me before and i'm sure you have the same problems....
this problems will get worst when you can only boot into your rom while your phone is connected to the charger and goes straight to bootloop when you disconnect the charger....

Shouldn't the battery meter go crazy after reboots or something ? Well i guess i'll try this, the battery is not a costly component. Are there perhaps any bigger batteries than the original one with bigger backs ?

Nope...the battery remains like normal but random reboot will happen more regularly until bootloop....
Not sure if there is a bigger battery but there is one thread here that show one battery with 3600mAh and don't buy OP2 battery as it is not compatible with OPO...

Ok thanks for the help, will report back with new battery.
Switched the battery, the random reboots still happen, decided to do a clean flash, after wiping the phone in TWRP during the flash of GAPPS the phone rebooted itself and is in a boot loop currently.
Ok so the reboots stopped, it was a battery issue, but now i have a problem with battery indicator it's stuck at 50 % all the time and the phone does not show when it's charging (no information, no LED color), but the battery is being charged because when i shut it down and connect the charge and battery level (which shows when the phone is off) increases.
I've tried to use it untill it shuts down then i charged it while it was off for 6 hours, but after turning it on it still showed 50 %. I've also deleted the batterystats.bin using TWRP but it still did not help. Any ideas how to make it show the correct % ?

told you it was a battery issues but look like you have another battery issues here...try disconnect the battery from the motherboard for 1 minutes before connect it again and do offline charge for atleast 30 minutes....after 30 minutes reboot the phone and look at the battery percentages...if its goes above 50% then you have solved your problems....if it doesn't then you might bought a bad battery....you need to contact the seller that sell you the battery and asked for replacement....
Well unfortunately after changing the battery for a second one (the random reboots started again on the new one) the issue still prevails, so i'm currently writing a ticket to oneplus in hopes of some help.
Thank you iPusak Gaoq™

Oneplus One Reboot Issue : Suggestion or Help Needed

My OPO is having a reboot issue, was on cos13, cm14.1 and ubuntu with mutirom,
Symptoms
1. the phone stays on if connected to a charger or powerbank.
and without charger it bootloops at the 1+ logo
2. in switched off state, when charger is connected the battery sometimes shows 0% and increases to 100%
3. with charger i entered cm recovery, removed the charger, the phone stayed all night long with cm recovery menu display on.
after draining the battery, i plugged back charger and the phone in switched off state did show the regular charging animation and took the usual time to full charge.
after full charge I removed the charger, tried to power on the phone boot loops at 1+ logo.
4. without charger it can enter fastboot mode.
5. with charger it can boot into os, shows charging, led lit up, but after removing charger it won't stay long, also if opening camera it turns off.
6. even on powerbank it can boot up and stay switched on. and work normally (camera etc anything)
(7. while turned off and on charger the animation shows charging but the top led isn't on.) - I don't remember it lighting up on charging while switched off
8. the night before this issue occured, my phone rebooted twice while watching youtube. and in the previous nights also I noticed battery dropping overnight.
what all I tried,
1. fastboot flashed cos, - not solved
2. flashed using Qualcomm USB port tool - not solved.
3. ran the make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 command in twrp. - not solved.
4. erased and flashed persist.img - not solved.
so what could be the problem, opo is now my secondary phone, now using op3 as primary.
The battery is at its end of its life....replace the battery and all your problem will be gone...
you're not the only one that have experiences this problem (i have seen more then 10 people having the same problem)...last year and this year there a lot of people having bootloop problem due to dying battery...factory reset, flash stock rom and etc won't help you solved this problem...
i personally have this problem last year and after i replace the battery all my problem gone...i think Oneplus made OPO batteries only lasted for 2 and a half year....

thanks for the reply i guessed that, but still wasn't sure, can it be also due to any issues to board, anyway since i've done with flashing and all i'll try an OP service center, and hope it won't costs me big.

Nope it is not issues with the motherboard but batteries...the phone can be turn on like normal when charger is connected and goes into bootloop once the charger is disconnected....its a clear sign that the battery is dying...when it connected to the charger, it may look like the battery is full but it is not...just buy a new battery and all your problem will be gone...you can try flashing lot of rom, revert to stock or whatever you do in fastboot but it ain't gonna help you...it might boot normally but within an hour it will goes back to bootloop....
like i said before i was on the same pages as you last year...all the flashing stuff didn't work until i replace the battery....there no issues with the motherboard whatsoever....my phone still work atm without any bootloop problem...
feel free to go to OP services center if you want, if they tell you it was a motherboard issues then you have been screwed by the services center by repairing something that is still in good condition and you gonna pay more then just a batteries afterwards...

I have almost exactly the same problem. The thing is I cannot find a way to enter multirom recovery even on a charger. When on a charger it tries to boot into my primary rom but gets stuck on it endlessly.
Are you sure its the battery? I mean, mine charges to 100% when plugged in and doesnt seem to have any problem with charging. Mine did it a few days ago, it went into a bootloop for no reason. I havent touched anything for a year and it happened so randomly and lost everything I had on it...

Hey dude Thanks a lot... I was facing exactly same issue for last 2 days... I bought OPO on Dec 5 th 2014... I think its battery only works 2 years...
@iPusak Gaoq™, tried to get a suitable battery online but the shipping charge killed most deals, some were even counterfeits, so finally I decided to visit an op service centre, they replaced the battery with a new one, now my OPO is good as new. thanks again.
I was just going to post, about my issue, but the forum suggested your post. I read the first post, and yes, I am facing the exact same problem. Taking a picture and the phone shuts off. Vibrating from getting a notification and restart.
And the saddest part, the phone won't boot into OS if is it not plugged to PC or AC power.
My Opo is almost two years old. Can you suggest a good battery replacement for me?

Hard to suggest which batteries is good if you planning to bought it online cause there no way you can know whether the batteries you gonna buy is original or OEM...only when you bought the batteries in a retail store then you can see whether its original or OEM and yes the differences between both batteries is noticeable...

Hello All, Don't know whether posting in right thread or wrong!....
My OPO is almost 3 years old, it is rebooting automatically i.e Powered by Android screen showing & then again it will restart with the same. Continuously rebooting the same until long press the power button for force shutdown. I need a solution , kindly help me out.
Am not an software engineer to understand the programming terms, hence if you share line to line steps, i can try..
