Hello I am new to XDA, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V running 6.0.1, I am trying to root it but have no luck, i have searched the forums and have no clue if 6.0.1 is even rootable, I am trying to downgrade to 5.0 to follow a rooting guide but dont want to screw up and end up with a bricked device, help would very much be appreciated.

This is the Guide you need to read.
If you will follow the steps you won't brick, you'll just need to downgrade and flash the full pb1 firmware (You'll need to factory reset in recovery) then follow the guide to root.

Well..
I would like to root my at&t lg g2 d80010q before I update and go to kitkat. I have looked around the xda site for ways to do it but, frankly, things are scattered and, its making it difficult for me to understand what to do.
Is there someone here who can guide me to a thread in which it will help me root the device and than retain the root through the update..
any advice will be appreciated..

I bought a verizon galaxy s4 a few weeks ago and foolishly updated it. I now want to root it and i havent rooted anything in months but i wasnt to worried until i cant seem to find if you can root with version VRUFNK1. I found 1 thread where someone said they bricked there phone trying on this version. If it possible please let me know and what method to use.
you can actually root it safely only if you downgrade back to the VRUFNC5 bootloader , the use the vroot method.

I done some research and am very lost as to what to do. there are no clear instuructions on how to downgrade from vrufnk1 to vrufnc5 at all that I can find. can someone elaborate on this and give me a little more detailed instuctions and possibly links to the files ill need or websites where to find them. And is it possible to even downgrade without first being rooted? Sorry its been years since i have done this and it was way simpler on the kindle fire.
I have a buddy thats in the same boat, he's got a newer s4 and wants to rom it for his first time.
I am also in this predicament. I had a galaxy nexus that I would flash different roms to every week but I upgraded via Verizon to the S4 a few months ago -- bloatware is awful and is taking up over 7GB of my 16... Would love to get a jump on rooting, but I can't find anything on this build aside from this thread and another few posts that were also unanswered. Any help or direction would be great -- do y'all think there will have to be another way to root this build, or can downgrading be okay?

I too am in the same boat, for some reason with i545vrufnk1, I can't root so want to downgrade the firmware to a firmware that allows me to root, tried all the various methods to root but for some reason I can't, think it might be the firmware or the knox software package.
I believe you could root with Towelroot.

I tried it with the latest official update and it won't work. I'm looking to root as well.

I followed the downgrade instructions and got root back. Is it Verizon that makes it a pain in the ass? I don't know what I would do without this place and helpful people

i tried this guide verbatim, mine bootlooped and rebooted after i tried connecting to wifi every time.
had to go back to nk1 and its stable now. farkin verizon...
Hi all... i have a problem with my Galaxy A3 (SM-A300FU) Let me explane and i hope you can help me:
Few months ago i decided to root my SM-A300FU running android 4.4.4 and all worked so i enjoyed my rooted device with no problems...
Then i decided to update my phone to lollipop just to see how it works but when i tried to root lollipop (using cf auto root for a300fu but for 4.4.4 bec for 5.0.2 it doesn't exist) it started the first time but when i rebooted my phone it stopped working, i mean it's stuck on samsung screen, or worst stuck on a strange yellow "sand screen"... so i reinstalled lollipop normally and started to use it without root waiting for a cf auto root for 5.0.2... some days ago i thought that i could downgrade to 4.4.4 and be able to re root my device so i downloaded stock firmware for my a3 from sammobile.com
but when i tried to flash it (always with odin running administrator) it just stuck at samsung loading screen
I can reflash lollipop and all restart working but i can't root 5.0.2 so i want to downgrade to stock 4.4.4 and i can't!
I'm getting crazy on it trying to flash it tons of times but it don't wanna work... I hope you can help me downgrading this phone!

Thanks a lot for reply and I'll obviously try that method but if it's possible i would like to be linked to a post that explanes how to downgrade my a300fu 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 or just explane me how to do it without bricking it as it results when i try to do it now with my "method".

well is there a reason to downgrade to 4.4.4 now that you can get root on 5.0.2?
Anyway if you still want to downgrade, head over to Android's Q&A Section since there's no dedicated forum for your device, and ask your question there

I need the exact instructions that actually work to root my galaxy s5 5.0. the root methods on forums never work and I know exactly how to root the phone. but no one gives all the information on exactly how to do it. this is a replacement phone. I had the last version of Android rooted but the instructions on rooting that didn't work also and I had to use an app. I see where people have said you need Android bootloader but bootloader doesn't work through Odin. So can't actually put a custom recovery like TWRP on the phone using Odin. Is there another method that people aren't telling us that actually work or is there an app that can root. Had to use towelroot on my last phone because the rooting method never works. And I have been flashing ROMs for years on multiple phones so i know what needs to be downloaded. Just method can't work for everyone ununfortunately. If anyone has any information on how I can root my phone now that I'm on Android 5.0 would be much appreciated. Although I couldn't find any root methods for my galaxy S5 active I seen something about downgrading it to 4.4.2 to use towelroot. I ran into an internet problem trying to download the firmware, fixed that. Then Odin started having problems before it started downgrading. Is it possible to downgrade? Its running the OF3 bootloader and after doing some research I found some people saying it's locked and impossible to downgrade. So is it possible To downgrade a SM-G870A running the 5.0 lollipop update with the OF3 bootloader? Or is there some kind of root available for it? Or even someway to unlock the bootloader without losing all my data? I've been trying to figure something out for 3 days straight now.
