Hello,
I am getting an HTC Rhodium that is from Verizon. I currently have T-Mobile and I am wondering what the steps are to get my T-Mobile SIM running on it. Could someone please give me detailed steps on how to use the Verizon phone on T-Mobile's network?
I've been here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=594862.
Thank you,
TheAH
That thread covers it pretty well. Need to do the SIM unlock, and you won't have 3g.
What else do you need?
I am about to buy this phone and i am trying to get it to work for att, is there anything i need to know about setting it up on att please reply. (wifi, lte, sms) thanks
Why don't you get the AT&T model?
Or do you not realize you are in the M8 VERIZON forum?
First of all, I'm sorry if there's a thread that answers this question, I looked for it and had no luck finding it.
One of my relatives brought her Verizon HTC incredible 2 from the US to her sister (to Armenia) but it's locked to Verizon so she can't use it here. I know that this phone's hardware can't work on T-mobile and/or At&t but I've heard that it can work on other, international bands. I (my relative who owns the phone) contacted Verizon from US and asked to unlock it but they refused to do so, saying that it's made for Verizon so it can't be unlocked. I just wanted to know whether there's a way of unlocking it or not, and if there is a way then how is it? I've seen online sites that offer unlocking codes for around 15$ but I kinda don't trust them. I'm completely new to this and have no idea whether rooting will help or not. Please help me out here.
Thanks in advance,
Raul
Anyone? Please say whatever you know, I really need help.
Dont bash me I know this might come off as a ridiculous question to some but I have paid off my device through t-mobile and they unlocked it for me. Does this allow me to have more options with roms/etc.? I'm not quite sure what the unlock truly does for me other than I suppose I can take it to other carriers. However, does this include cdma carriers like sprint or just gsm? And I assume h850 roms would still be a bad idea correct? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated, Thanks!
This just means you can use your G5 with other carriers instead of just being locked to T-Mobile.
The unlock will last through wipes and ROM upgrades also, which is good to know. A different partition in the phone is used to trip the unlock which is not altered by system updates/wipes.

The SIM unlock means you can use it an any other GSM/WCDMA carrier (AT&T as well as some of the smaller ones like Cricket). You can not use it on CDMA carriers like Sprint or Verizon because the chips are fused to only allow GSM/WCDMA technologies. Sprint and Verizon use a CDMA fused chip and you can't us them on AT&T and T-Mobile, etc. There are a couple of types of "unlock". SIM unlock like you have, and bootloader unlock are most important. If you now unlock the bootloader you can root the device and then load custom ROMs to it. You can load H850 roms if it's been ported to H830 which there aren't any right now but will be soon. There is the fluence rom for H830 that you can load. I hope this helps.

adding on to everyone else, I have seen some phones go from VZW to TMO but there were so many issues with these devices it was a YMMV situation. The unlock through TMO is a carrier unlock, not a bootloader unlock. Your phone is worth more on craigslist/ebay now since it's unlocked at least.
Thanks for all the useful info. Been flashing and rooting for years but it's always nice to get assistance from all you smart people lol. Never really knew there was a difference between a bootloader unlock and a Sim unlock so learned something new. Thanks again for the insight!
There is ways to root and load customs Roms on some of the lg g5 models hg850 international version, but also the hg830 T-Mobile model as well now, and I believe there is a process for those who updated to 10d firmware before rooting to be able to do it now as well, so I would go check out the lg g5 fourms for that.
I am looking for opinions for the best unlocked phone for Sprint. I know Sprint is limited or so they say in what works. Any help would be appreciated.
